I got a 3d printer, Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo, for Christmas and am trying to learn how to use it. My TIPI/32K has been just hanging out between the TI99 and speech pack, so I decided to try to design a case for it. I use two 90 degree mini USB adapters to provide power to the PI and hook up a USB mouse, so I had to provide openings for these. As I was also concerned about keeping the PI cool, I provided an opening over it which also lets me see its activity light. I almost forgot the need for a hole for the LED on the TIPI/32K to stick through. Here are some pictures of the final result.

Hi fellow TI enthusiasts, I am pleased to announce the next version of APEDSK99. APEDSK99 is an Arduino shield that emulates 3 DS/SD floppy drives for the TI99/4(a). Combined with a Ethernet / SD shield it allows you to load and save Disk-On-A-Disk (DOAD) floppy images on a SD card or FTP server. It includes the necessary 32K RAM expansion and adds NTP date and time to TI-BASIC: The APEDSK99 shield plugs directly into the side port and is powered separately from a USB cable. A "PEB" LED indicates APEDSK99 access: APEDSK99 adds about 13 CALL commands to BASIC but you only have to remember the one for the built-in help screen: It only takes seconds to exchange files between your TI and say the excellent Classic99 emulator on your main system: Check out the demo:

So I recently bought a Peripheral Expansion box with a 32k expansion card. I am a newbie at this. When I power the PEB up, the floppy drive initializes and then turns on and off repeatedly every few seconds. Super annoying. I pulled out the 32k card and then the problem stopped. With the card out, it works normally. I figured the 32k card had a problem so I bought another. The new card does the same thing! Any thoughts?? I have cleaned all contacts and inspected everything but nothing seems to help. Something in my floppy drive maybe? -
So I just bought a peripheral expansion box for my ti 99 4a. It has three cards including the 32k expansion. When I power the unit up, it keeps trying to access the disk drive continually and I can see that the 32k expansion light keeps coming on. when I pull the 32k expansion out and start it again, the disk drive initializes and stops running like it should. I can actually run programs that require the 32k expansion, but it keeps trying to run the disk drive and will not stop. I've opened up the expansion card and cleaned it and examined it but I can't find any problems. Any ideas on what I can do?

I got the 32k sidecar and on most of my carts it works fine. TI Invaders however, will not play unless I remove the sidecar. Is this typical?

I recently bought a lot of 5 99 4A's on Ebay that all had issues.So far, i've gotten 3 running. Two are perfect as far as i can see- they see the FinalGROM and the 32k sidecar(shorty from Arcadeshopper) with no problem and I can run all the FG programs that don't require F18A. The Third unit boots up fine with no FG or 32k sidecart and with the FG but no 32k sidecar, but if I include the side car, it boots to a loud noise and a black screen. Any ideas on what I should look at?

32K RAM pulled working from a TI-99/4A Peripheral Expansion Box. Includes manual. Also have a non-working Flex Cable Interface. I'm told it is "probably" an easy fix (replace a couple of chips and capacitors.) Don't have the ability to do this myself as my hands are not steady enough for the solder work. I do own a cat, so apologies, but please expect some cat dander 32K RAM card: Asking $50 plus shipping & PP fees. SOLD Flex Adapter: Asking $20 plus shipping & PP fees. I bought one of these on Ebay from a guy in Hungary, out of interest really. Paid 35 USD including shipping to Germany. I'm pretty impressed with the size, as it is very small. And now a word of warning, because here's the downer: I'm currently not able to test it as the connector does not fit my TI-99/4a console.... Don't feel like opening my console (it's the only one I have with F18A built-in). I do am able to plug it into my Speech Synthesizer, but it's not recognized there. Would probably have to do the +5VDC pass-through: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/259662-speech-synthesizer-modifications-audioin-and-5vdc-pass-through/ Applying force on the PCB makes it bend, as that was apparently foreseen by it's designer as both left and right edges have a vertical "line" in them to help it bend. Anyway I'm posting the pictures here, as I'd like the hardware guys to chime in. Do anyone of you know the design/components ? Does bring up another question, is it time for a group effort to design a console edge connector that really fits and can be used in many future hardware projects?

Hey all, I just acquired a side car floppy drive, but I don't have a 32k RAM expansion for it and I'm looking to mess around with assembly language. I do however have a nanoPEB. Now, as silly as this may sound, would it be possible to set up the floppy drive, AND the nanoPEB so that the nanoPEB would act as the 32K expansion, or would having the 3 emulated floppy drives and the real floppy drives make something go wrong? In addition to that, now that I have a real floppy drive, what are good floppy disk games out there? Thanks!

See my project page for a video detailing how to assemble (if you are thinking about the kit form) -M@ ------- Original-ish 1st Post ---------- I feel we need a simple, public domain, 32k expansion that slaps onto the side of the 4a, or side of the speech synthesizer... So I've been trying to build one. There are a number of new cartridges that require the 32k memory expansion to function. And with the Flash ROM 99 EA5 conversion craze, a console with 32k on the side can suddenly play a much larger library of classic and new TI software titles. My intent is to build and offer finished product. I envision a vertical board about 3" high by 4" deep, chips to the right, edge connector to the left. And a jumper for external or internal power. -- I've started with the circuit on TI TECH PAGES, under http://www.unige.ch/medecine/nouspikel/ti99/mem32k.htm, scroll down to do-it-yourself-card. This circuit maps logically to what Tursi describes in http://www.harmlesslion.com/text/TI%2032k%20Mod.pdf from the best of my ability to tell. Of course, I'm not in a PE-Box with this, so I have no RDBENA to worry about. So I've reduced the circuit, using the remaining 3 single line buffers in the 74LS125 to buffer MENEN, WE, and DBIN, instead of the 3rd 74LS244. I believe I have all of the addressing correct, and can actually see the LED in the circuit activate when and only when I address memory in the expansion address ranges. However, I am having a real difficult time with the memory chip, and the data bus buffer 74LS245. Maybe some of you with more experience can spot what I'm doing wrong? It seems as though I'm stuck in high-impedance mode on the data bus buffer. It is not shown in this schematic, but I've got 0.1uf caps across Vcc and Vss on all of the chips. And I'm driving the board off of an external 5v regulated supply. I'm using a 62256 SRAM and not either the 55256 Theiry called for, or the CY7C199 from Tursi's circuit. They appear to be pinout compatible with the 55256. The address lines are numbered different in the CY7C199. Does anyone have a schematic for this board? I recently acquired two of these boards and neither of them function as a 16k board in Slot#1 or as a 32k board in Slot#2 on an 800. So I'm hoping someone has a schematic of these already that I an use to repair these... Thanks, Jay
