Hi there. I've been gifted with a Brasar Brasvision console, an N-PAL clone of a 2600. It was a give away or throw away situation for the previous owner. Wherever I see it turns out, pretty much counterintuitively, that this is not a Brazilian machine, but an Argentine one. The site Compuclasico lists the console as manufactured by Argentine company Lakshmi S.A (now defunct), and the sticker in the bottom confirms this. Googling for BRASAR and or BRASVISION is useless... unless you mean to look for women bras, or Brazilian surveillance systems. I would like to make it spit A/V, but the board is not like any other in any tutorial I've seen, and to make matters worse, most YT tutes just say things like "Lift resistor Rxx and..." or "Remove transistor Tyy...", but give no detail as to what role the parts play or any hint that might help me map the target components to my board. I do not know if the component designators match the original 2600 schematic, so I'm at a loss here. The chips in the board were covered in some black marker or paint, but ordinary rubbing alcohol (not even isopropyl) removed that. The board has: R6532-RIOT, R6507-CPU, CO10444-TIA, and a standard TTL part, a 74LS74 - Double D-type Flip-Flop near the modulator. I think I saw "my" TIA type listed as NTSC here in AtariAge, but not sure. The console has a single 3.582056MHz crystal (N-PAL chroma burst for Argentina). Does anyone know of a "normal" 2600 schematic, but with the A/V mod already applied? If I could get one, I think I could map the mods made there to the ones I need to do in the Brasvision. Just for reference, a pic of the console's guts (yes, the DE-9 connectors are in the back of the board and... riveted): Thanks, zxMarce.

Hello, I hope you can help! I have installed an s-video mod board from here to my pal, black label Atari jr. When I boot a game the picture looks clean and bright for about 12 seconds, before turning very dim and losing colour. The game plays fine, and there is no issues with sound, just really dark after 12 seconds. So far I have checked all my soldering for continuity, pins 9 and 13 are lifted, the bottom of the mod board is taped, and there are no visual signs of bad capacitors (my initial thoughts). Any ideas what could be going wrong or what I should check next?

Hi all. It sounds like a stupid question that can be solved by myself, but the multisystem tv/Monitor that I have is very heavy and in an akward position so I can't try all combinations. I recently bought a c64 composite cable from ebay to use with my multisystem NTSC capable CRT. In the drawing in the back it says AV in Yellow, but WHen I place them in that order I get no signal in AV input. Is it possible that there is another combo to use with an NTSC TI 99/4a to the back of the CRT?

So after trying out different techniques I found out my newer model 99 doesn't output video (or sound clicks) My silver TI works just fine. I don't have much soldering experience, but am I quick learner. Are there any steps I can do to find out what part is not working?

Hello All. Finally got myself a Harmony Cartridge {Probably 10 years after everybody else it seems}. AND, it seems I'm living {or am going to live} the nightmare I've feared with these {multi}carts in the past {fortunately, I've had no major problems with any of the other multicarts/flashcarts I've obtained up til now}. First, I've only got an AV modded 7800 {2 actually} to test it on. When I first received it, I was able to briefly {1-2 seconds at most} on occasion get what appeared to be a garbled menu screen on one of my consoles. Other than that, it has been as if no cartridge is inserted in the console {i.e. single or multiple solid lines or blank screen, etc.}. I've since compounded the problems, and believe I have now deleted some of the main files/directories {i.e. program files that had the loader etc..-My SD card only has the following folders now: Drivers; Homebrew; Manual}. So, my 1st question is, can anybody guide me on how to rebuilding the directories that I've deleted? But, from there: Am I perhaps just out of luck with this thing? I've definitely cleaned the contacts as well as they can be cleaned. Is there any chance the problem is with the Cart itself? I've been attempting to contact the seller {I think Batari}, but have not been able to do so before extending the problems with this. If it's potentially the consoles causing the problems, then I do not wish to start fumbling with them-so that might be a dead-end for me because I do not want to buy a spare 2600 if I don't know pretty much 100% that the problem isn't with the hardware/cart? This concern is particularly real because I think I did the re-install of the Firmware properly before deleting everything tonight {only thing I struggled with was: What's the root directory? I chose E: for that choice}.? But, would that briefly appearing garbled menu indicate the hardware/cart itself is fine? or might it indicate the problem could be with the hardware/cart itself? {A note here: After attempting to reinstall the firmware, I no longer was able to get that garbled menu anymore}. Lots of questions. So, sorry this inquiry is all over the place. {I went back and put bolds where the main inquiries are for this topic}. I hate to think I've got an unusable "BRICK" on my hands, which, of course, was by no means cheap, but I also don't want to piss anyone off if I were to pursue recourse in that regards {Some day I'd like to be ahead of the curve with all of the great products out here to be had - such as, perhaps, a 7800 multicart?}-{Note here too-I'm currently licking my wounds after "discovering" the latest SGM for C-vision, only to realize I just missed the pre-order deadline-so I surely am a hard luck story here}. I'd hate to accept that my knowledge of the 2600 might remain limited to Seaquest, Phoenix and the several other titles I have, but am afraid the current can of worms I see open before me is not going to resolve itself anytime soon, and, if it can't be resolved soon, then I may have to bury it in my backyard or crawlspace until I forget it and stop trying to resolve it. I hope someone can make sense of the mess here that lies above, and help me on my way to resolution? {or make me an offer to get it off my hands? lol - I hope?} Thanks.

So I picked up a "non-working" CV from eBay ($25, bundled with 2 OEM controllers, power supply, and Illusions). The also-bundled RCA output cable was severed and frayed at the end. Powered on, tested all 4 connections, voltage checked out. No picture with replacement RCA (using a RCA-to-coaxial adapter; love those things). Concluded it was the RF modulator, so I decided to give Ben Heck's composite mod a try (http://www.benheck.com/Games/Coleco/Video_Mod.htm). It worked!...with two unexpected results (both may be unrelated to the mod, I'm not sure). 1. There is about a five-second delay after the console powers on, after which the ColecoVision title screen has about a three-second fade-in. After fade-in, the picture and colors are as clear and perfect as composite can give me. I'm using a 32" Toshiba CRT; all other consoles using composite output don't have this picture delay. The micro-potentiometer in my mod is turned up all the way. I should also point out that I tested the mod's circuit, and all components--including the video out--were getting the proper voltage (~12V DC). Is this a normal/typical "side effect" of the Ben Heck mod? Or is there something wrong/off with one of the components? 2. I noticed these stray, square sprites in fixed positions in a few of my games. (See attached pics for reference.) I first noticed a couple of them in the rivets stage of Donkey Kong... and then I saw a couple on the level start screen of Illusions.... It was then that I inferred they might be appearing in the same places regardless of the game, and that they won't appear on a black/"null" background. And then I put in Zaxxon.... Eureka! There looks to be a vertical row of these sprites, evenly spaced, across the entire height of the screen. Has anyone seen/solved this issue before? Thank you each for your time and help with this one. Love ya, appreciate ya.

I forgot to label these when I got them in the mail. I'm sure they are for a classic system, but I'm not sure which.

Just wondering anyone has any idea about this problem concerning a rolling interference pattern on my AV-modded Colecovision. I'm attaching a photo to demonstrate what I am seeing on my CRT TV. It's a set of diagonal rolling lines on the screen that disappear after several seconds and then show up again. It drives me nuts, especially in games with a blue background (eg. The Coleco blue skill selection screen, or Evolution title screen). This problem is most visible on my AV (composite) connection but also shows up on the RF coax input as well, though not as noticeable because the lower quality hides it a bit. I've tried the transistor AV mod as well as the op amp version of the mod, and neither rectified the issue. I've also tried two different power supplies, cleaned the power switch and PCB, and tried different TV sets (CRT and LCD). I don't want to waste any more time on this but was just hoping someone can help out. Someone else had this same problem a couple years back and he ended up selling the unit and buying another one, which didn't have the problem. So it wasn't an issue with his power socket or location.

I recently bought my first 2600 ever the other day! (I had it's competitor, Intellivision, when I was a kid.) I have a question, though: What's currently the highest quality AV mod commonly available *right now*? My Google-Fu only turns up confusing tidbits about mods that aren't available anymore, ones 'coming soon' but not released, schematic-only things, etc. I'm thinking people with your expertise who live the Atari life every day will have a more comprehensive answer. For what it's worth, I'm looking for something that's prebuilt and ready to wire in to my 4 switch woody model, best quality available, and that's for sale currently. What would you folks recommend?

I picked up an AV mod on eBay, opened up an Intellivision II, but don't have enough clue to know where to wire what. Can anyone lend me some ideas, tell me where to mark-up the included motherboard image, and I will post it here for the next person to use? Thanks.

It certainly wasn't impossible for them to do that for the 2nd or 3rd batch of 7800s! Why have it only FR compatible?? The fact that the 7800 only had RF was at least to me, a big deterrent to many would-be 7800 buyers, right next to the refusal to release the joypad to North America!  :-o

Hi everyone I've recently purchased a Jaguar off Ebay that is in great condition. Came with many games and extra contorler. However, the picture does not work properly. The sound works fine but when it is turned on, the picture flashes on and off. I have uploaded a video to youtube to demonstrate. It came with a standard scart output not RF. This model of Jaguar does not even have the RF out... At the end of the video, I show the telly using the same scart to display a Wii working perfectly just to prove it is not the telly. There are also some pictures at the bottom... Does anyone have any idea what is causing this issue, and how I can reslove it? Thanks Ali

I finally found my Nintendo 64! so I plugged it in and got everything together. I turned on the system then the tv. I turned it to the av channel and.......nothing. all there was was a black screen! so I tried turning it off and back on. the screen flashed for a second then nothing. I did everything correct I put the cartridge in before starting the system. could it be the av cable?
