So I recently played through some Star Wars games on the Atari 2600 in my YouTube series RETRO BUFFET. Now the games were released in 1983, 3 years before my birth and I had a thought - it is quite challenging, with the mindset of modern gaming expectations, to imagine what these titles would have been like for the average gamer back in 1983. Was it an awe inspiring experience? Did it blow people away at the time? Or was it more of a representative experience that would be augmented with the imagination of the player? Im keen to hear from those of you who played these titles at launch, at the time, and how you found the experience?

I currently capture gaming footage from my RGB modded light-sixer Atari 2600 through a Framemeister and into an Elgato HD60S and it works pretty well but it's definitely skipping/duplicating frames here and there for whatever reason. I upgraded a month or so ago from an Elgato HD60 to the HD60S and it works better but it's still not perfect. A lot of homebrew 2600 games use flicker to multiplex the hardware limit of two 'sprites' on the same line at either 30Hz, 20Hz or even at the super flicker rate of 15Hz. If even one frame out of the 60Hz is missed this can lead to the player character or an enemy briefly disappearing making the recorded footage jumpy or even more flickery than it should be. I'm fairly confident that the hardware wasn't made for capturing such precise footage and is more geared toward modern gaming or live video where a replicated/missing frame or two would be almost impossible to detect. Am I just misusing the hardware or is there a better hardware video capture device out there that's is better suited? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!! Plenty of video examples on my YouTube Channel here: https://goo.gl/aPKSYy

I did not do this, This was done back in the 80's by somebody who REALLY liked this controller and wanted to use it on their Atari computer (Probably) The controller does function but the controls are reversed forcing the player to hold it backwards, also it has a dead zone the size of Kansas, all or nothing whatsoever. Yes That is Duct Tape-

So I found this controller in a friend of mine's basement and he's convinced that it's worth something. Looking on Ebay and even doing a basic google image search we were only able to find variations of this joystick for IBM pc's and Apple II computers. Have you ever seen this controller before and what do you think it's worth if anything?

I have a bunch of Atari 2600 game carts but they are missing their respective game case and manual, so I am looking to buy a few game boxes for them.

Hi, I am looking to replace the audio capacitors in my Atari 2600. The existing ones are 820pf Polystyrene and I am trying to find a direct replacement I can order from RS or Mouser here in the UK. Can anyone give me a some guidance on what I can use to replace them? I have been told I can use 820pf MLCC but do not know any more about the specs / datasheet in order to decide which to order. Any help is greatly appreciated. Alternatively does anyone in the UK do these kits like console5? https://console5.com/store/atari-2600-total-refresh-kit-new-capacitors.html The postage to the UK just makes ordering from those guys way too expensive.
