  1. Here's the link for the Johnson & Johnson / Atari 2600 Tooth Protectors game store display: https://www.ebay.com/itm/402117449642
  2. I checked out the AtariAge online store and noticed that Pac-Man 4K is no longer available, even when I clicked "search", no sign of it available, what happened to it, I DO have it on my SD card of almost 700 titles but play that one religiously and many are missing the boat as it is far better then the 1981 Atari original (which was also 4K) and even prefer it as opposed to the 8K Pac-Man Arcade that is also great that is still available.
  3. Note: This is a repost of a blog that I wrote last year. I thought the members of this community would appreciate it. Enjoy. The blog can be viewed in its entirety at: http://zopingo.com/dans-blog/atari-2600-vcs-repairs As a kid, I grew up on the Atari VCS system (a.k.a. Atari 2600). I was fortunate that my Dad owned a hobby shop/toy store when this came out in 1977 and was one of the first of my friends to have one (along with many of the games that play on it). In 1985 when I was departing for my time in the Air Force I was unloading a storage unit of my things and the truck driver was very interested in my Atari so I gave it to him making for one very happy family. Here I am over 30 years later and interested in retro-gaming so I picked up an old Atari VCS from a seller on Ebay a year or so ago not knowing the condition. I actually only purchased it for photographs with my Mini Atari Project. The price was right for the gamble so I did it. As it turns out, it did not work (powered on but no picture) so I had been trying to decide what to do about it. One resource I found was at www.atari2600.com where they will repair any Atari 2600 console for $24.95 plus parts. I was considering this option but have always wanted to tackle a small-ish electronics repair job so I figured I would give that a try. After scouring the internet I found one YouTube video particularly useful. It is titled Atari 2600  Repair - No Power (Dead Voltage Regulator) and the author does an excellent job of explaining with high-quality video so you can really see what he is doing. Even though you can do your own repair with this information, the video only covers replacing the voltage regulator and I am going for a full refurbishment with a kit from www.console5.com. Please note that this link goes straight to the kit for my 'Light Sixer' unit, there is another page with a kit for the 4-switch units. The 'sixer' units come with 2 boards, a main board and a switch board. I will be doing modifications to both of them. I did not get pictures of the boards before removing components, but it will be clear what I replaced. My instructions assume that anyone attempting this repair knows how to remove the boards from the case so I will not go into that here. ---- MAIN BOARD REPAIRS NOTE: In some cases I am using radial in lieu of axial type capacitors because that is what came in the kit. It does not make any difference for functionality but do be aware of polarity on these capacitors when installing. Repair #1 - Replace the original axial type capacitor with a new 4.7µF 50V radial type capacitor at location C201. Repair #2 - Replace the original pair of styrene caps with 820 pF MLCC capacitors at locations C206 & C207. These capacitors are related to audio issues which I don't know if I have but since they are in the kit and I have all the soldering tools out I got them installed. Repair #3 - Replace original diode/capacitor assemblies with new zener diodes and .1µF capacitors at locations C236 & C237. Solder the capacitor across each diode as shown in the picture. Repair #4 - Replace the DC Power Jack. They tend to get broken, dirty, or lose tension over the years. (no picture needed) ---- SWITCH BOARD REPAIRS Repair #1 - Replace the original capacitor with a new 2200µF 16V axial type capacitor as shown. Repair #2 - Replace the original 7805 voltage regulator with a new unit rated for 1 Amp service. The originals were rated at 1/2 Amp and have been know to fail (mine was a failed unit). Remember to use new thermal compound (included in kit) to properly dissipate the heat generated by this unit. The repair kit even includes a bolt and nut for units that had the VR installed to the board via rivet. Fortunately mine was just a screw. Repair #3 - Replace the .22µF "chicklet" capacitor with a non-electrolytic type. The "chicklet" type sometimes cause 'sparkles' in the video when they fail. Repair #4 - Identical to repair #1 on the Main Board. Replace the original axial type capacitor with a new 4.7µF 50V radial type capacitor. Note polarity before removing old capacitor. SUMMARY In the end, this repair went quite well. Once I got all the components installed I was able to fire it up and have a working unit. After this repair I installed a composite video modification to get better quality video and eliminate the RF modulator.
  4. I have been picking up Atari 2600 games for a little while, but only recently got a Retron 77 to play them with. I am running Stella 6 Beta. While at a used game store the other day, I grabbed what I thought was a 2600 cartridge. The clerk told me it was actually an Intellivision cartridge. I know many Intellivision carts have an angled top with a label, and he said to look for a Mattel copyright to tell the difference. I had one cart like that at home, and assumed I bought an Intellivision game by mistake. After I hooked up my Retron 77, I looked at the cartridge (Dark Chambers) and it looked as if it was compatible. I put it in, and it worked. I know the 2600 was not compatible with Intellivision games, and I can't find anything about the Retron 77 or Stella 6 being able to run them. I also am having a lot of trouble finding images of the connecting side of Intellivision carts. I can only assume this was a game made by Mattel for the 2600, but can anyone tell me the best way to determine the difference going forward. Thanks.
  5. I am looking to sell my in box copy of VideoLife. The cart is in pristine condition and the box is in good condition. I am asking $5000 or best offer for the cart and box. For security reasons, any deals will be done either in person, in cash, at a video game resale shop here in the Midwest, or by shipping via certified and insured mail, negotiable with the buyer. I might have them for trade). Thank you!
  7. Does anyone have an Atari 2600 toggle switch for a woodie they can part with? Thanks much
  8. ======================== EDIT: These items are no longer available. ======================== I recently came into possession of a decent sized collection of Atari gear. I grew up playing games and computing on similar Atari hardware so I'm somewhat familiar with the gear. Despite most of the gear being in excellent condition, it was destined for a trip to the electronics recycler. Recognizing the historical significance of the gear, I snatched it up to ensure that it can live on. I'm looking to sell and redistribute the gear to the community of enthusiasts here to ensure that it can be preserved and enjoyed for many more years. I spent many hours cataloging, testing hardware, photographing everything, and uploading photos. I've done my best to test and verify the functionality of most of the gear in this listing. You can see a list of everything that I have here: https://bit.ly/2qeRtAA Each item includes link to an imgur.com posting with photos. Most items also include a note about the condition of the item. Sorry, it's not the most convenient way to view everything in one shot but it works for me. I didn't include prices on my spreadsheet as I don't really have the time to determine the value of each item. In many ways, the value is really determined by the community here anyway. I would simply ask, if you would like to make an offer for anything on the list, make it a reasonable offer. Also, keep in mind there are shipping costs. Some of the larger items may incur significant shipping costs. I can certainly offer local pickup for anyone in my area. I'm located in south central Pennsylvania (York, PA area). https://goo.gl/maps/bWMy8WTxebmbAu54A Contact me via email or PM if you're interested.
  9. Still clearing out unused items from my collection.... Please PM if you have any questions. I would have to charge additional shipping outside the continental US. ======================================================================== /|\ All Atari manuals (qty 34) $42 shipped ======================================================================== I'm happy to sell individually, but I'll need you pick up the postage in that case. One last thing, I'd take $42 ***OBO*** shipped for all the manuals (34 total: 4-Lynx, 9-2600, and 21-7800 manuals) ======================================================================== /|\ Atari Lynx manuals (qty 4) $10 plus shipping ======================================================================== They're all in good shape. I bought them all new. ======================================================================== /|\ Atari 2600 manuals (qty 9) $14 plus shipping ======================================================================== These are in good shape. I bought them all new. ======================================================================== /|\ Atari 7800 manuals (qty 21) $30 plus shipping ======================================================================== These are in good shape. I bought them all new. ======================================================================== Apple II shoe box of discs--mostly games $32 plus shipping ======================================================================== I got these years ago. They came with an Apple IIe that I bought back in the day. They are backups and not originals. There are a lot of floppies here. And many have multiple games on them. I can't test them, so I don't know how well they still work. I'm offering these "as is". ======================================================================== /|\ Atari Lynx in need of screen help $58 shipped ***SOLD*** ======================================================================== Age is showing on the screen of this Lynx. Basically, this is a great candidate for a modern screen upgrade. There is lots of vertical banding--which sucks. But everything else works great on this Lynx--which is nice. This is from my person collection, like all the items here. Is this your first Lynx? I'll throw in a loose game cart so that you can test the unit as soon as it arrives.

  11. I'm declaring R3 to be the final version. (This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a few weeks while writing this game, and I've really enjoyed trying out other homebrews.) Water Diver is a reflex game, for one or two players (simultaneously): dots are bouncing everywhere in the water; collect the good ones, while avoiding the bad ones! Five Six Twelve exciting levels, four exciting songs. ? No title screen yet... The graphics are pretty simple, but I think it's fun, and challenging. I have yet to break 150 points, except when testing at slow emulation speeds. There can be a lot going on onscreen. My high score during development is 162; for R3 as released, my best so far is 131. Latest release: water_diver_R3.bin (NTSC) water_diverpal_R3.bin (PAL60) Older releases: water_diver_R2.bin (NTSC) water_diverpal_R2.bin (PAL60) water_diver.bin (NTSC) water_diverpal.bin (PAL60) I've tested in Stella 6.0.1, and on an NTSC 2600. In Stella, it's difficult with keyboard, but I find that it works quite well with a mouse. The two-player mode hasn't had a lot of play; please let me know what you think! Also feel free to suggest PAL color tweaks, or whatever else. I have a very small amount of room left. I expect to at least add a few more levels. Or maybe a title screen. Controls: Joysticks. Either player can start at any time, by pressing their fire button; after that, just steer the button will give a lateral speed boost. Between games, you can cycle through game modes, with Select: In the default mode, you advance from level to level in time with the music. In "flow mode" you stay on one level forever -- any level you have reached previously. (This is more fun than it sounds!) Hints: There's no way to only one level where you can restore your health. You can see how much damage you've accumulated by looking at your score. The faster you pick up the good dots, the sooner new ones can appear. (It can be dangerous to pay too much attention to this fact.) When the water turns green, watch out... 12. Since the game is still WIP, I decided that it is better to continue here. 13. I’m working on making some new 2600 touchpads from scratch complete with custom shells. I am also working on making overlays that have the same purpose as the original touchpad overlays, to label each button so you know what you’re doing by pressing each one. I wanted something to do and thought this would be a fun project. I’m not sure how rare they are so I don’t know if anyone else would want/need one. Each touchpad will come with one overlay for the game of your choice. Once I know how many people are interested, I’ll provide an update with a price as I would like to buy all the parts at once to keep each touchpad as low priced as possible for both me and anyone who wants to buy one, and I don’t want to over- or underestimate the part costs. I will also provide picture updates as I get through the prototyping stages. If anyone knows where I can find a list of games that used the touchpad, that’d be much appreciated as it would let me know how many overlays I need to design. As far as I can tell, the link in the 2600 Archives results in a 404 so I’ll need another source.
  14. Hi, I'm looking for help pricing these two games. I did not found any of these on ebay. Thank you.
  15. Looking for my first TAC-2 joystick for Atari 2600. I plan to use it primarily on my recently acquired TI-99/4A with the Atari joystick adapter, as I feel it matches the black and silver color scheme of that computer really well. It might get some action on my XEGS and 7800, too. Please shoot me a PM if you have one you're willing to part with. Thanks!
  16. Unless bugs are identified this will be the final release of Heist. This release fixes a number of small bugs and implements a few additional features such as Bezerk style directional shooting (selectable via the Left Difficulty Switch). This release also makes (3) lives standard. Single life games are still selectable as games 4-6. I hope you enjoy. - Tim Gameplay Capture the money while avoiding the police and laser defenses. Once the money is in your possession a door will open. You still need to make it out of the bank to clear the level. All of this must be done before time runs out. Some levels are easier than others and the time is adjusted accordingly. Note that the police will not notice you until you are in their general proximity or you have taken the money. Once you capture the money all police become aware of your presence and they move with an increased sense of urgency (i.e., faster). There is a total of 20 levels using 10 playfields. Each playfield is displayed twice. The second time through you are given less time and the police move faster. If you complete all twenty levels you will flip the game and have the chance to play through them again. This time, however, the police will move faster and you will be limited to (4) bullets. Controls Movement: Use the left joystick to move left, right, up, down and on diagonals. Pause: Set the COLOR/BW switch to BW to pause the game. The playfield walls will turn lite gray and the player will face left to indicate that the game is paused. Set the switch back to COLOR to continue gameplay. Shooting: Behavior dependent upon position of Left Difficulty Switch. In either mode, the bullet travels in the direction that the player is presently moving. Mode A (Left Difficulty Switch A): If player is standing still then the bullet moves in the direction that the player last moved. This is similar to the behavior implemented in Berzerk released by Stern Electronics, Inc. in 1982. Mode B (Left Difficulty Switch B): If player is standing still then the bullet moves horizontally to the left when the player is facing left. Similarly, the bullet moves horizontally to the right when player is facing right. Game Variants Use Game Select switch while on Title Screen to cycle through game variants Game 1 – (3) Lives, Limited Time, Limited Bullets (Normal Game) Game 2 – (3) Lives, Unlimited Time, Unlimited Bullets Game 3 – (3) Lives, Unlimited Time, No Bullets Game 4 – Single Life, Limited Time, Limited Bullets Game 5 – Single Life, Unlimited Time, Unlimited Bullets Game 6 – Single Life, Unlimited Time, No Bullets Scoring $1000 for each money bag stolen. On games where you have more than one life you will lose the money if you are caught/die before clearing the level by making it through the exit door. Hints It may help your overall strategy to get the police to chase you. You can get their attention by moving close to them. This works even if you are protected behind a wall. Level Timers (Games 1 & 4) Level Time 1 30 seconds 2 24 seconds 3 30 seconds 4 24 seconds 5 20 seconds 6 16 seconds 7 28 seconds 8 24 seconds 9 14 seconds 10 12 seconds 11 20 seconds 12 16 seconds 13 20 seconds 14 16 seconds 15 36 seconds 16 32 seconds 17 20 seconds 18 16 seconds 19 24 seconds 20 20 seconds HEIST.bin HEIST Game Manual.pdf HEIST.bas I'm including the source code as it may help someone. I'm sure there are plenty of areas where the code could have been written better. Sometimes the 'hack' is actually a means of doing something without using additional variables. Other times what looks like a hack is truly a hack. It can be a little intimidating showing how the sausage is made... and there is no claim that anything performed by the code is the best way to do it.
