I have an Atari 2600 that I bought a few months ago, when I got it well... Lets just say it wasn't in the best condition. There was dust all over it, Gunk in the vents, Multiple layers of cigar ash and yes it reeked of cigar smoke! I have since got around to restoring it but I have a few problems. How do I get rid of the sticky tar residue of the console (And controllers) How do I get rid of the smell of smoke (I am trying to avoid using scented cleaning agents mainly because I don't want my Atari smelling like an Apple tree) I appreciate you taking the time to help thx!

space invaders Space Invaders on Atari VCS/2600
Ricardo Cividanes da Silva posted a topic in Atari 2600
Well, it is possible that this subject has already been dealt with in another topic, but I would like to know if anyone has the information. When Atari negotiated the licensing of Space Invaders, Midway was the distributor of Arcade in the USA, right? As I understand it, did Atari obtain exclusive licensing of Space Invaders for all consoles right under Midway's nose? Does anyone know the whole story? -
SOLD. Thank you.

A quick video I made of a USB powered 2600 joystick by Hyperkin called Trooper 2. This is for PC/MAC or Raspberry Pi. I'm using it to play Pac-Man games in Retro Pie.

hey guys! this is my first post for sharing my first homebrew game called war. this is a game where you are a warrior fighting in a war and you have to shoot a big red boom. by shooting the boom you can earn points but, if the boom touches the wall it will reset the score to 0. It was really fun working on it. I hope you like it! by the way here is the ROM image war2600.a26

I have a cartridge of Space War that has a different pin cover from all the other games I have. It has just one long slot instead of three smaller ones, and you can push it in just by pressing it down, which you can't do with the normal covers. I thought it might be one of the 7800-era rereleases by Atari Corp, but it says 1978 Atari Inc, not 1986 Atari Corp, so it seems to not be. I put some pictures of the game, and a picture of what the normal pin cover looks like for reference. Does anyone know anything about this?

My Atari 2600 Light Sixer Goes B&W When Tapped or slightly moved. Sometimes, if I toggle the B&W/Color switch, the color comes, back. Other times it doesn't. Sometimes will go to color if I toggle the switch from color to B&W, indicating that it seems to be more something loose/failing on the PCB rather than the toggle switches themselves. Any suggestions at what I should be looking at first? Thank you.

SOLD Recycled Thread, Yes, this is available until I mark as sold. $30 + Shipping. $30 is what I invested to build this about 5 years ago, but I never use it. The box is wood, but not solid wood. I'm really not sure where the box came from, but it's sturdy, and looks pretty good. The joystick is a $10 unknown brand I bought online back in the day, and includes 8 way octagonal joystick gate. It works on the Atari 2600 and 7800, and it's wired for two button operation on the 7800. The cord is only about 3', but I'm including a NEW belt buckle and wrist band! Price does not include shipping from 45005, box is 3 lb 13 oz, 11" x 15" x 9". Include your zipcode in the PM, and I can get you an estimate.

Not sure if there's any interest in two busted Atari 2600 carts: Carnival (Coleco) and Decathlon (Activision). Both clean shells but I couldn't get the games to work. Yes, I know all about isopropyl followed up by a dash of brass polish if isopropyl fails to do the trick. Still no dice. Any interest in the shells? Just pay actual shipping. Pics below. If no interest, I'll toss 'em. Thanks! CLAIMED!

I have long wondered how Atari built the series of games and their versions. To this end, I started researching the subject. My name is Daniel Medina and in this topic I would like to present my research project for the reconstruction of the Atari game series. RECONSTITUTION OF ATARI 2600 GAME COLLECTIONS. ==================================== I developed a website with the purpose of supporting the project and the research, so that everyone can follow the updates of the information found. On the website you will find all the explanation about the project, the method used, where to find the cataloged information and you will also be able to identify which games formed the series and their versions. I use as a study base in the research information from any and all catalog numbers available in the game sets, I also use data from Atari documents, Internet pages and sealed or complete games for catalog records. After a year of work, I defined as the initial indexing point for building a database, a number found in the boxes that I call PSN (PART SERIAL NUMBER), are found in the small tabs, usually along with the review. Through them I identify the series it belongs to and the game it contains. I have already identified 495 versions of boxes and validated 185 of them, my intention is to open the community to validate other versions and discover new ones. The idea is also that everyone can participate, sending version inclusions through channels like this forum or others that can be built in the future. Now I would like to know your opinion. Welcome to www.atariopenbox.com

Anybody want to try their hand at a PointMaster joystick repair? It doesn't work. I honestly forget if it only goes in a couple directions or if the fire button doesn't work but I just know it was in my "doesn't work" pile because it wasn't fully functional. Just pay shipping! Shoot me a PM with interest. Thanks.

This was part of a high score challenge but the best score I submitted was 43,950. Didn't get as much in this video but I still wanted to share some tips. If you're watching on your phone rotate the screen to watch it vertically.

Here we have a Quickshot IX "Deluxe Joyball Controller" by Spectravideo (SVI). You don't see too many of them around and it's a very interesting concept. Works best for maze-type games in my opinion. It's not a trackball, and rather you push the ball in the direction you want to go and it will click (think microswitches). It is meant to be played horizontally, not vertically (note the left hand/right hand toggle switch). It also has an autofire switch. All four suction cups on bottom are present. This controller is in good shape cosmetically and has been fully tested and functions as it should. Please see the attached pictures for more details. $25 including shipping to anywhere in the US takes it. Willing to ship to Canada but will need a little extra for shipping across the border (and all bets are off on transit time). Shoot me a PM with questions or to finalize a deal. Thanks!

I’d like some advice. I seem to have bad luck with 2600 carts not working. I have three that will not work. Most recently, I was very excited to find Frankenstein’s Monster for a decent price at a retro shop I frequent and it won’t boot up. I cleaned it very well as I always do to my cartridges and even took the board out and polished the pins. Still nothing. How common is this? I’ve asked other collectors and most say they’ve rarely, or never, had a 2600 game they couldn’t get to work. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks so much. Duke
