I'd like to add a Bally Astrocade to the collection. I'm not picky as to model, it can be the Home Library Computer, Professional Arcade, Computer System, Astrocade, etc. I just want a working console, which I understand can be difficult since they are prone to issues. So if you are considering parting with yours or have a lead on a Bally Astrocade guy (or gal) who has 10 stacked in their basement, let me know. Thanks! -

With the help of Jason Scott of the Internet Archive, I have finally added the 26.8 GB of scans from the Bob Fabris Collection to the Internet Archive. These are scans that are NOT on BallyAlley.com. These are from my half of the Bob Fabris collection. Paul Thacker has the other half of the collection. His files were uploaded to Archive.org a few years ago. All of the files are organized by the box from which the documents were scanned. This is how the files are organized on my hard drive for simplicity of finding the original document, if I ever needed it again. A few years ago, I realized that my task of putting all of these files on BallyAlley.com isn't ever going to be finished. Last week, Paul Thacker made a personal request of me to finally get these files online before they get lost or forgotten about on my local hard drive. At my request, Jason Scott zipped all of these files by "box" and the files can be downloaded as nine zipped archives: one zip archive per "box." This is the simplest way to distribute the files. It doesn't make the files easy to search, but it does put them out there for those that are curious to be able to go through them all at their leisure rather than waiting for them to, possibly, appear someday on BallyAlley.com. In these nine "boxes" are 8,487 Files in 931 Folders. Jason will also be placing the files on Archive.org in more accessible formats that can be easy viewed, but for those that are curious and want a local copy of the files, then this is your one-stop destination to pick up all of these documents that are sitting out in my garage. In the meantime, I'd like a few people to download these archives, just to test them out and make sure that they work okay. Also, any and all comments about their contents are appreciated. If you find some neat files, then please point them out to us, for even I haven't looked thoroughly through the contents of the Bob Fabris Collection. Adam P.S. The interesting trend in the 70s was store-branded video games. There were store branded everything in the 70s. I posed this question asking about "linear media" on lddb.com, a laser disc website, and I knew about the Sears Beta, and later found out about the JCPenney VHS, and was wondering if there was a store brand Laser Disc or Selectavision (a format often confused with Laser Disc, but different). I used video game store brands like Sears Telegames, Sears Super Telegames, Tandy Vision, and Montgomery Ward Game System, which were respectively, Atari 2600, Intellivision, Intellivision, and Bally as examples. I don't know the logic behind it. I assume it was to keep store brand loyalty. But I assume it can backfire. If Sears was talking about the Telegames and Super Telegames, and didn't have an Atari 260 and Intellivision section, if you were from Mars, you'd say the were promoting their own brand. Kind of like what Aldi does with most of their food products. Was their marketing not to mention the brand name, and use only the store name? I understand they wanted store loyalty, but did they keep more sales they'd lose to other stores with store brands, or did they lose more sales from brand name people by browsing and seeing only store brand stuff? I'm trying to figure out whether it was a net positive to have store branding or a net negative. If you've owned any of these system during their prime, whether you were a kid, a parent, or a childless grownup at the time: Atari 2600, Intellivision, Bally Astrocade, Sears Telegames, Sears Super Telegames, Tandyvision, Montgomery Ward Game System, the question is "Have you dabbled or stayed loyal, ether out of ignorance of their intercompatibility or out of pride?" By the way, I voted no interactive media, since my first was a Colecovision, which had no store brand problems, and a Sanyo BetaCord (a name brand), and dad didn't avoid Sears for Beta tapes. I think they were branded as Sears Beta brand tapes, which he has bought before. I see them downstairs, so No for avoiding Sears Brand Beta tapes.

On March 26, 2018, I posted the following message to the BallyAlley Yahoo group: Is anyone interested in having a programming contest for the Astrocade? My ideas: 1) Program in machine language or BASIC 2) Short programs for a start 3) Program of any kind (game, demo, music, video art, etc). 4) Prize? I've no idea. Does anyone want to give this a go? Today I finally dug out my two Astrocades. One has the Bally label and the other one has an Astrovision label on it. The first one still works perfect and looks great on the little RCA Colortrack TV I just bought for $10 today. The second one works pretty good as well, but it initially comes up garbage on the screen and I have to hit Reset. After that, it works fine. I think it was always that way and I can live with that as long as it doesn't get worse. Now, I need to find some more games. I only have 8 carts, counting my Bally Basic and I know more were made. Also, I need to find a place that sells stick on, rubber feet as each unit has one foot left and I want to get those air vents higher for better breathing!

So I brought back my Astrocade, and decided to fix the PSU issue. The main problem is that I'm in Europe, and so, the Astrocade PSU might not like being fed 50htz instead of 60htz. I know that late Astrocade received a 12V PSU instead of the double voltage originally shipped with. Does anyone have a dead one or a spare one he could open so I know which wires I need to link together, and if there is any capacitor or resistor inside?

Ok, I've been trying to get rid of this for awhile now but I guess selling this large of a collection in one shot just isnt going to happen so I have decided to break it up. Here is the list again.
