DOWNLOAD ColecoVision SlideShow Sample in 5 formats: SLIDESHOW SAMPLE.ZIP README.TXT Hello everyone, My name is NewColeco and I'm gonna tell you what I've been worked on during the last 3 years. Not everyone is aware that graphics are very difficult to add in our beloved homebrew games, especially within the standard 32K cartridge size. To make things worse, some graphics cannot be compressed at all to keep the action fluid and fast. In order to add great looking bitmap screens and tilesets into our projects, we use data compression. I've been working very hard on lossless data compression for our graphics data. My new compressed formats are named DAN1, DAN2, and DAN3; they work especially well for big graphics like charset and bitmap screens. They are, technically speaking, LZ77 variants and developed based on our graphics need. The ZIP file in the download section contains 5 files of the exact same slideshow sample, the only difference is the data compression format used in each one of them. Information about the Slideshow ROM files: in Pletter - ROM size 27730 bytes. in ZX7 - ROM size 27665 bytes. in DAN1 - ROM size 27094 bytes. in DAN1 without RLE support - ROM size 27078 bytes. in DAN3 - ROM size 26999 bytes. For this slideshow sample, saving about 700 bytes is a big deal; should be enough to add an extra picture without going over 32K. Now you know what I've been working on lately. Question? Thanks for reading!

Hi, I have no image with memory mod. the 5v drop down to 2.5/2.7 in pin8 of each memory/slot. Is this value under load ok? ..mmmmmm Removing the 4516 ic the system "start" with black screen. And the chips are very hot after a few minutes on. The mod is about quit L2 and L3 and join +5v point. May be a part of the 5v is lossing on the way, may be a short circuit. But with 4116 are no problem. The system start normally. Any help?

I am looking at a Coleco Gemini system, just the system, no controllers (although I have some), no plugs or cords, seller doesn't know if it works. He wants $39 for it. Should I buy it, is it a good price for one? I dunno on this.

Our friend Bill (Loguidice) posted this over facebook So I though I would post the informations here http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=35350896&cp=&parentPage=search Seriously, what you think about the look of the system/controllers ? Compared to what they did with the atari and intellivision, I think the look is not super well done Obviously, that will not prevent me to buy one

Here are the latest versions of ADAMem DOS and ADAMem SDL that were provided to me by Doug Slopsema. I have only tested out the DOS version by overwriting the old ADAMem DOS files that were provided with the Virtual ADAM v1.03 Frontend by Steve Pitman. The DOS version works beautifully with the CF Card backup image files (either the 60Mb Single or 100Mb Dual) that I have posted in the IDE CF Card thread. Here are some additional instructions for ADAMem DOS v1.81 that Doug provided as well: Here are a couple of updated ADAMEM compilations. Key change is the ability to work with both IDE master and IDE slave images. The MSDOS version can be used within Virtual ADAM v1.03 by replacing the adamem.exe in the adamem folder under the installation location. Hard drive images should be named hd_ide1.img and hd_ide2.img and be placed in the same folder. Use the included EXP.rom in the same folder for auto-booting to the hard drive (once again, please in the adamem folder). The WIN32 version is an SDL version as before that runs natively on Windows. Same filename requirements as MSDOS version. Feel free to post these on AtariAge and let me know if you run into any issues with them. Doug Slopsema Additional updates/notes are provided with the SDL version. ADAMEM_MSDOS_v1.81.zip ADAMEM_WIN32_v1.81.zip

I picked up a Coleco Telstar Combat! today at CCAG and I have managed to get the controllers working decently now, but I can't get the left speaker to utter a peep. The right one is working fine, so I can hear the fired shots and explosions. (It was actually the one with the wire pinched in the case and still works!) I opened up the unit and checked all the speaker connections and even tested the voice coil on the silent speaker with my meter and it's not open. Any ideas as to why it's not producing any sound? I assume this is the one that makes the tank motor sounds when you move.

I have decided no longer pursue this. I have more important things to do than waste my time disputing a name. At this point I have the support that matters, and that is the support from this community, I am not a company, I don't have or look for global domination, I am just a fucking homebrewer for a very niche community. I started doing this because I love what I do and thought others would appreciate too, not to fight legal battles. Let them have their name. We have our community, I have the community support and I will keep doing my games. As for them, I hope they find their public too. Thanks, Eduardo

MINI-ARCADES: Ok. We get it. Atari Age users are the gurus at Hardware and Emulation. Everyone is asking for the Minis. We do need your help. Our goal is to create a Mini that is similar in size and quality as the mini's from the 80s. The goal here would be to have each mini focus on one featured game (for EXAMPLE only: Say its Ms. Pac Man on one unit, Donkey Kong on another etc.), then each unit may have a few other games on the system as well, but they would not be featured on the side stickers, and only mentioned on the box art. Please feel free to give your opinion on the technical specification of the Mini's that you would suggest. Screen type and size, emulators, hardware, platform or any other specs that you think we should consider. The more specific the better. LET'S do this as a team!... Keep in mind that we would like to keep the quality of the plastic high as well as having a mid range quality on the guts of the machine. BUT, at the same time, we would need to be able to have a retail price point that consumers would be interested in. (And while we are at it, you may as well give us an idea of what you would expect to pay for a mini). Any other advice would be appreciated. This is out first thread, and we are hoping to keep up with responses the best that we can! You can also give your opinion on the same topic on our facebook page.

SC22PC - Convert MSX Screen 2 bitmap pictures into ColecoVision bitmap pictures by Daniel Bienvenu aka NewColeco January 2017 Description This tool extracts the PATTERN and COLOR tables (6K each) from a MSX .sc2 file and save it into a neat 12K .pc file. Technical Infomation MSX .sc2 file is essentially a memory dump of the seven (7) video registers followed by 14K graphics data in video ram, aka VRAM. Technically, that includes also sprites which can be used to patch the picture to avoid color clash effect. ColecoVision .pc file is simply the bitmap screen, composed of 3 charsets, made of two (2) tables: PATTERN and COLOR. No sprites data. Note: It is possible to use .sc2 file into ColecoVision projects, but be sure to consider three (3) things: the video register flag "4K/16K" has no impact on MSX computers but does on ColecoVision game system, the VRAM data is the important part, a good lossless data compression should be applied on VRAM data to save memory space. PC2BMP - Convert ColecoVision bitmap pictures into Microsoft 16 colors bitmap files by Daniel Bienvenu aka NewColeco January 2017 Technical information Simply put, it generates a valid BMP file, 256x192 pixels, 16 custom colors, 4 bits per pixels, according to BMP file format specifications. The color palette used here is a compromise between colors a bit washed out calculated with the TMS9928 video chip technical information and colors too saturated used on several emulators. Also, this color palette makes a distinction between transparent and black colors with its black color being slightly brighter (RGB values 8, 8, 8 for black, and 0, 0, 0 for transparent). Usage pc2bmp [-y] source.pc -o destination.bmp Samples Yuki's ColecoVision Smurf Challenge - extracted from original project as a .pc file and converted to .bmp youki smurf challenge.bmp Rion's ZX Spectrum Unreal - converted from ZX .scr file to .pc with scr2pc and then to .bmp rion Unreal.bmp Download PC2BMP Version 0.1 (EXE, SRC, BATCH FILE): pc2bmp.zip

SCR2PC - Convert ZX Spectrum bitmap pictures into ColecoVision bitmap pictures by Daniel Bienvenu aka NewColeco January 2017 There are lots of cool ZX Spectrum pictures released as .scr or .mlt files and tools to make them. Technical Information ZX Spectrum bitmap screens are 256x192 pixels, same for the ColecoVision. ZX Spectrum graphics files are composed of PATTERN and COLOR data tables, same for the ColecoVision. ZX color palette is composed of 15 colors, same for the ColecoVision, but the colors are not the same. The video chip TMS9928 inside ColecoVision do not have two different magenta and two different cyan colors. ZX PATTERN and COLOR data are structured differently, bytes in a different order between them and different than how ColecoVision handles it. Considering all the similarities and differences, I've coded the following simple graphics converter tool. This converter support both .SCR and .MLT files and can generate PATTERN and COLOR data into two files instead of one .PC file. This solution is a CLI (command line interface) written in C. CV Paint 2 can load and ZX Spectrum pictures as well but is no more supported. Example ZX Spectrum Space Harrier title screen by MAC, 2014. Thoughts on "Sprite Flicker?" Love it? Hate it? Don't care? Watch the three games in this video. On the left is what a normal CV system looks like and on the right is an F18a upgraded system that removes most of the sprite flicker. Which do you prefer?

The goal here is to start planning a 3rd run of the SGM. But let me make a few things clear first: - 3rd run pre-order or whatever does NOT start until 2nd run is behind me - Yes, I am taking care of the French SCART version. It will ship BEFORE or SIMULTANEOUSLY with the 3rd run, but not after There is a high demand for the SGM, and I have done a beyond poor job distributing it so far. What we want to do this time is to get a 3rd run out of door before July 2016. One option is to offer it with no box, at a reduced price, something around $50, or both boxed (at a regular price) and unboxed versions. In order to get a 3rd run we are going to need 200 pre-orders, with at least 100 pre-orders for the boxed version in order to get that option done. Again, the idea here is not to start a 3rd run right now, so I am not accepting requests yet. We will announce when the 3rd run starts, and as I said, I need to put the 2nd run behind me first. I just want to start a discussion to understand what people want.

Here's the thread for the development of Snatcher for the ColecoVision Call me crazy, but I've to decided to make Snatcher (from the MSX2 version) for the CV Snatcher is my favorite game from Hideo Kojima Now, it's NOT a simple port, it's going to be made entirely from scratch I've to adjust EVERY screens so they can fit the Colecovision's hardware limitations, wich include all the graphics and music .....so let's just say the entire game I've just start converting the graphics, so obviously it's not going to be release until late 2017 Meanwhile, you'll be able to follow the development of this game I'll keep posting progress here

We are now ready to take Pre-orders! Yes! 5 new games for your Colecovision #1 Star Soldier (Super Game Module Require) Port to the Colecovison from the MSX version by Eduardo Mello (Opcode) The player pilots the starship "Caesar", travelling through space stations occupied by powerful supercomputers known as "Starbrains" who threaten the galactic empire. Star Soldier greatly resembles the earlier arcade game Star Force. #2 Drol Port to the Colecovison from the SG-1000 version by Mystery Man. The player controls a robot flying through a story maze, attempting to rescue people and animals while avoiding traps and enemies such as alien creatures, snakes, eagles, magnets and axes. #3 Jumpland (Super Game Module Require) An MSX conversion converted by Claus Baekkel (CrazyBoss). The player most collect all items without getting caught. Gather your skills and prepare yourself to the exciting and incredible jumping challenge! Jump Land is amusing and highly addictive jump style game. #4 Hang -On Another nice port from the MSX Hang-On II version by Mystery Man. Using a behind the motorcycle perspective, the player races a linear race track divided into several stages within a limited time. Reaching a checkpoint at the end of each stage extends the time limit. The game ends if the time runs out. #5 SASA (Super Game Module Require) Another MSX conversion converted by Claus Baekkel (CrazyBoss). The Player control a small character who has to go through a serious of stages. The twist of the game is in the movement: instead of simply flying around, you must shoot into the direction opposite of the desired movement. For example, if you shoot several times to the left, you'll be thrown to the right. Everything is built around the reactive force of your gun and the gravity force, which will slowly make you descend onto the ground if you don't shoot continuously. Preserving the precious energy points and trying to propel yourself exactly to the obstacles which you must destroy on your way to the energy packs is the only way to successfully complete the game. We are ready to take your Pre-orders!
