Ten years ago, I had a decent understanding of emulators and what specs were required to run them. Times have changed and I haven't kept up with new technology very well. So, I'd like to ask for help from some of the current emulator users. I have some consoles I'd like to emulate and I have a few different computers availible, but I'm not sure if any of them can do everything I'm interested in. What I'll do is list the consoles I want to emulate, so you can get an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. 2600 7800 NES SNES Genesis GBA TG16 PS1 PS2 I know that PS2 is the one that will require the most to run effectively, so if you have a suggestion on what emulator works the best for PS2 and if possible, a rundown of the minimum specs for it, that would be awesome. I have a desktop computer that I'm sure will run any of them, but I'd like to keep it more portable. So, I'm hoping one of my laptops will do the job. I also have a tablet, which I'd love to use, but it's very doubtful it has the muscle to do anything newer than the 16 bit consoles. I don't have the specs for everything availible right now, but If it will help, I can see what they are and post them tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any help. Edit: I just found the specs for what seems to be the most popular PS2 emulator and it's even beyond what my desktop computer could handle. Unless there is one out there that doesn't need as much as PCSx2, I'll just have to forget about emulating anything above PS1. I'd still like recommendations on what people think works the best for the other systems, on Windows and Android. Like I said, I haven't kept up with emulation in a long time, so I'm guessing a lot has changed. Also, I'm fairly new to Android, so I can use all the help I can get if I'm going to try and use my tablet for anything.

My local Walmart is known for being horribly behind when it comes to toys and games. most of the time, their stock is 6 months to a year behind the Walmart 30 minutes from here. They also tend to skip waves when it comes to toys, making it really annoying to collectors and children. On to why I'm posting... I went to Walmart today and as I was passing the electronics, I happened to look down the video game isle and something caught my eye. They had the Atari Flashback portable, the Genesis Portable and Genesis Flashback, along with the Atari Flashback 8. I was amazed that they had these, since I've NEVER seen any of the retro systems here. I know the Atari Flashback Portable has been around for a while, but I'm not sure about the others. I know this doesn't seem like something really important, but knowing how horrible this Walmart is, I was really surprised. What makes this Walmart such a horrible store is the fact that we have a Distribution Center right here in town, yet nothing is ever stocked when it gets released. I'll give you an example, I collect Transformers. Like most other toy lines, they get released in waves. Let's say wave1 gets released in January in the next town. It may be May or June before it shows up here and that may be the only wave that ever shows up, since the next line starts before this Walmart ever gets the second wave in. This isn't just an issue in the toys, it's also the same in the electronics and games. The only thing they seem to stay up to date on are the Blue-rays. Even the PS4 games are late. So, I just wanted to share my amazement that something fairly interesting had shown up at "the Walmart that time forgot".

So, I've got one of these: I love it to bits for Sega Genesis spaceship shooters, fighting games, and general Atari 2600 use as well. There's just one little problem: Over time the joystick has gotten really squeaky! I have already tried lubricating the joystick with white lithium grease, which I thought would be a good plastic-on-plastic lubricant based on my experience using it to lubricate the plastic internals of airsoft replicas, but it didn't do much of anything to help the squeakiness of the Arcade Power Stick. Any suggestions for a lubricant I could use that would eliminate the squeakiness of the joystick without risking damage to the silicone membrane contacts underneath?

Hi All, A strange issue has developed with my Model 2 Sega Genesis. Under most circumstances, the Sega system seems to think that the "up" button on controller 1 is being perpetually pressed. However there is one very specific circumstance where it works correctly. It will work correctly if I have a 3 button controller in the first port and a 6 button controller in the second port. Only in this specific configuration will it work correctly, and these are genuine Sega controllers. If I swap the controllers or have only one controller connected or even no controller connected, perpetual "up." Any ideas? Is there any chance I am damaging anything continuing to play it since it does seem to work in that configuration? --DiscoDr.Bones

See the original blog post here After building a few all-in-one systems like the STARFORCE PI and STARFORCE NEO I realized that I wanted to do something really special with the console that I grew up with and had the fondest childhood memories: The Sega Mega Drive. Additionally, I wanted to be able to connect other oldschool consoles to it, making a central game feature with a true arcade edge! After nearly a year of testing my girlfriend’s patience I finished it: The Sega Omega Drive Dedicated Oldschool Entertainment System (DOES). Built inside a 1987 Sega AfterBurner arcade bezel imported from the US, this system features an original Sega Genesis 2 motherboard which means the games aren’t emulated and play supremely well via one of the two dedicated systems inside, that collectively support all the popular high-quality analog and digital video inputs. The 4:3 aspect ratio 19″ LCD screen fits snugly into the bezel, and the black matte exterior houses a 5 Watt dual stereo speaker system by Logitech, delivering an impressive deep sound, with the option to connect external audio capture devices or headphones through the 3.5mm audio jack. The Genesis cartridge slot blends neatly into the bezel, supporting the entire library of Mega Drive/Genesis and Master System (via adapter) games, and brings thrilling 2-player arcade action with two essential Genesis compatible controller input ports. The real power lies behind the control panel, which houses an array of video input options, all needed to play those classic video game systems. SCART, VGA, RGB, YPbPr and even HDMI inputs run through internal scanline generators to pump out an awesome arcade experience. Two faders allows for a greater control of the stereo sound from the Genesis, SCART or RCA audio input, while an additional HMDI-output allows this system to run the Genesis in parallel to a connected second console on a second screen! A power port at the side means any console can just be plugged into a video input port, and powered by the system itself – no extension cords needed. Rubber grips are able to hold a Sega cartridge case firmly above the cartridge slot, between the fully functional blazing red AfterBurner lights, giving the gamer an interchangeable marquee and a satisfying arcade environment, every time. The transparant backpanel keeps the internals shielded, while allowing the lights to emit ambient background lighting. The PC Engine SD This was a little sideproject while I was waiting for parts to finish the Omega Drive, but I think it turned out pretty neat! You can read more on the PC Engine SD in my previous post, but as you can see I made it to fit nicely with the look of the Omega Drive. The Sega Omega Drive Dedicated Oldschool Entertainment System cost roughly the same as the STARFORCE NEO to build, around €600, coming mostly from the upscaler/scanline generator setups and bezel. However, it was considerably more time consuming to construct due to the size and the rather complicated wiring. Nevertheless, the end result is very exciting and unique. Marcel J. de Haan SFP Development Team SPECS: Authentic Sega Genesis Model 2 hardware JAP|US|EU Mega Drive/Genesis Cartride Compatible 2x Genesis Controller Inputs (Player 1 & 2) Integrated 19” 720p LCD Screen (4:3) Video Input: HDMI, VGA, RGB, YPbPr & SCART. I have an Atari Jaguar, but lost the power adapter a long time ago. I've seen people saying the first-gen Genesis power adapter works for the Jaguar, but what about the MK-1602-1 adapter? It's intended for the first-gen Genesis, which requires 9V and 1.2A, but the adapter is 10V and 1.2A. I don't know why they made it 1 volt more, but it's meant for a system that requires 9V, so would it work for the Jaguar? From pictures people have posted, it looks like the same company might have made the same power adapter for multiple companies.

I'm trying to give up my computer and I'd like a way to play these old games using a handheld. It would also come in handy at the library when I need a break from studying. Is there something on the market that can play both genesis and nes titles? I'd settle for one or the other if I had to. Thanks

Looking at getting an everdrive. I see the latest will play Genesis, SMS, and 32x games. Is there a version that will do Sega CD games?

Hi guys, my name is Grazi and I'm from Brazil. Here in Brazil it's really difficult for collectors to find original game boxes, and when we find one it's not always in good conditions. So people love to buy repro boxes for their games, and the closer of the original, the better! The thing is, i'm moving to US and I would like to continue this work, but I'm still getting into your culture, so I would like to know if you guys like this kind of work, if you use to buy it, etc.. how do you like it? I already made game boxes for: Sega Genesis, SNES, NES, ATARI, N64, MASTER SYSTEM, GBA, GBC. And now I have this project of start making consoles/handhelds boxes also. You can see in the image below that I'm working on a GBC Yellow box, 100% vectorized (except the screenshots), and now I'm treating the background image in Photoshop. So I think the result will be really nice!!! I used to make repro boxes a long time ago, like this: (this material is different from what I'm using now) And this is an exemple of the new material I found: Now, few years later, I have studied Graphic Designer and I'm able to make a better job, because now I can improve the image so much more too. Just remembering, the images are not downloaded from websites and printed, they receive a long Photoshop treatment, and many icons and texts are all new (vector). So I would really appreciate if you guys could give some feedback of what you would like to see in terms of REPRO BOXES, like, 100% loyal to the original, custom version, etc. Just tell me

(I also posted this on Nintendoage) I am looking to sell most all of my videogame collection. Most of it just sits around not being played. Now on to the hard part. I don't know what to do. I want to get a good price for all of it, but I don't want to rip anyone off. What would all this be worth? Do I need to sell it here, or on Ebay? I don't think I want to part it out. I want to just sell it off in one big lot...I think. Help!
