  1. Hi; Today I received a shipment of imagic carts for my 7800 and found that none of them would fit well enough to run. I researched a bit on the forums to find a solution. The given solution was i.e: Remove external housing Find "cart cup" clip corners with scissors I did this to one of the corners and tested before proceeding any further to limit any damage. It worked for most of the games, but one, cosmic ark. So, I clipped another corner of the "cup" and when I went to test it the console wouldn't turn on!!! As far as I can tell (have not removed shield) there is no pieces lose. I ordered a Atari jr. in the mean time so I could still play most of my library, but I would really like to be able to fix the console; It ran beautifully before I mutilated it (no sticky buttons, no game problems, etc.) My Question; Any suggestions to what may be the problem? Any similar experiences? Thanks, - Justin
  2. I've always liked the foil look of Imagic game boxes. So, I thought it might be pretty cool to make foil back imagic overlays. Here's my test pieces: I attached multiple pictures of the same four overlays because it is somewhat difficult to capture the foil look of the overlays with a still image. These overlays would be a little more expensive than my typical overlay (price to be determined). I'm hoping I can offer them for about $4.00 per overlay (might be lower if I can figure out a quicker way to put them together). I realize price is a big factor here. I typically charge $2.00 per for my regular overlays, but the material cost is higher and its a little more time consuming to put these together. Please keep in mind that I can not print the color "white" therefor, any white color on these overlays would just be foil colored. I did alter some of the overlays to show more foil than black. This was a project I started about a year and a half ago, so the images are finished, I'm just trying to determine if it is worth going forward with. Please let me know what you guys think.
  3. So, I got a Sears Video Arcade II a while ago, but recently I noticed something. The cartridge slot is not the right shape somehow. My Imagic games don't fit, at all. NONE. Does anyone else out there have this problem, or is there a way to make them fit?
  4. I don't really expect a completely satisfying explanation, but I thought I'd ask anyway on the off-chance someone knows... I seem to have multiple cartridges labeled Wing War that each contain Moonsweeper circuit boards. One I would consider a fluke, but a few with identical replacement raises the question of whether there was production mix-up from back in the day with regard to this particular Imagic title. Anyone else run across this curiosity or know anything about the source of my confusion here? These are legitimate, production-run Imagic Wing War labeled cartridges from multiple, independent origins with no signs of label tampering or replacement. I never took time to notice the issue given the degree of wear to the labels, and so, my prior lack of interest in scrutinizing them.

  6. Hello everyone. Back in 2007 at the height of my intellivision collecting days I ran across some strange variants of Imagic games. The seller on ebay (if i remember correctly) said they were a direct mail type of order from Imagic directly. One person had four or five imagic games like this. Does anyone know the backstory on these yellow manual games?
  7. Following my Coleco game boxes I've done box designs for 10 unreleased Atarisoft games (all have had Atarisoft product numbers) and 2 unreleased Imagic games (the boxes are grey, not silver). I also made a funbox for an Intellivision GTA4, based on this video: Atarisoft - Battlezone - Dig Dug - Galaxian - Joust - Jungle Hunt - Missile Command - Moon Patrol - Ms. Pac-Man - Pole Position - Vanguard Imagic - Moonsweeper - Wing War Funbox - GTA4 A single box is EURO 12, all Atarisoft boxes are EURO 100, including the Imagic boxes the total is EURO 120, adding the GTA4 box makes a total of EURO 130. Shipping is EURO 8 (airmail, robust box, no insurance, no tracking, runtime 5 to 7 days). If you are interested in some of those boxes please drop me a NEW PM (no follow-up to the Coleco boxes please) including your Paypal address, I'll then will send you a Paypal invoice when your boxes are ready to go. Thanks, Marc.
  8. Hi! This is my fist post here on AtariAge, this seemed like the right place to ask for advice. I recently got a couple of Atari games from an uncle in the USA (to relive the old times :-)). One of these games was Atlantis, but with a typed Atlantis II sticker stuck on the box. Some Googling later, it turned out that this is the very rare competition version of Atlantis with a different scoring system and a lot faster gameplay. The game in general seems to be a lot harder than the original Atlantis. I guess that's why I've never really got that far into it Anyway, looking at the prices these things seem to go for on eBay, we've decided to sell the game as my uncle said he isn't really that attached to it. I've asked how he got the cart in the first place, but he said he could not really recall that, unfortunately. I would love it if this game ended up in the hands of a caring video game collector :-) I however want to absolutely make sure this game is the real deal. Looking at some older topics here, the main differences with the original Atlantis are: -Atlantis II sticker on the box (check!) -Different, much slower scoring system (check!) -Different font for scoring system (check!) -Faster moving enemies (check!) -Slightly higher cartridge weight (not sure, I haven't got a proper scale) I've taken some high resolution photos of the box, cart and the cart in the Atari (in B&W mode only unfortunately, my Atari is a bit crusty. This is the same for all the games I plug into it): So, is it safe to say this really is Atlantis II or are these some other things I can check?
  9. Laser Gates is one of the rare 2600 games that is supposed to be beatable: Destroy the four failsafe detonators, and according to the manual you've won the game. What has always frustrated me about this game is that it doesn't seem possible to reach the fourth detonator. Even if I manage to shoot or avoid the obstacles and keep my shields up, I always die because I run out of energy, as the game simply does not provide an energy pod when needed. This often also happens before I reach the third detonator. Energy burns at a steady rate, unaffected by laser fire and collisions. The Dante Dart also advances down the cavern at a steady pace, and even if you fly to the left side of the screen to dodge an attacker, you can never slow down or stop your overall progress. While it is possible to accelerate your advance by flying to the right side of the screen, this is not really a feasible technique because that's where all the enemies and obstacles appear, and you don't have time to shoot or dodge them if your ship is glued there. I'd really be interested to know whether anyone has ever managed to actually destroy all four failsafe detonators and beat the game. If not, has anyone ever taken a look at the game's code and figured out at which intervals the energy pods are supposed to appear or what triggers their appearance?
  10. This is timely - http://goo.gl/cXWd0h - a new Truckin' game/simulation was just reviewed, shortly after The Intellivisionaries put out their show. Coincidence? Hmm.... In the Disqus comments section of the page, it looks like 2 people already mentioned Intellivision Truckin'. It would be cool if all of us AA forum hardheads added a comment too, give credit where it's due to Intellivision OG Rick Levine.

  13. Hey all! Well..I have to say that I am pumped! I was surfing Craigslist the other night and came across a post with an "Atari Kiosk" for sale. I checked it out and talked with the guy. It appears to be an IMAGIC store kiosk that he got out of an old K-Mart. It had been sitting for 26 years in his storage locker and he decided to sell some stuff. Suffice to say we struck a deal and it is now home with me along with some games. It needs a good cleaning but it appears to be complete. All stickers are intact and clear. Looking at the S/N it looks to be #2,603? Are there any others here in the forum that own one and what are your thoughts?
  14. Hey, guys. We're going to be covering Imagic's Truckin' on the podcast (there will be a programmer interview with Rick Levine as well), and we'd like to hear what you think/thought of the game. Did you play it as a kid? Do you play it now? Does it hold up? Any tips and tricks, etc. Thanks in advance! We'll likely be including your feedback in the review.
  15. Note: I will be updating this post over time as needed. I collect Atari 2600 VCS and Odyssey 2. I am also currently looking for a few Commodore, Intellivision, and Atari 5200 items. 16. Some Imagic games have the letters "IA" in front of the game number, while others have an "O". For example, Demon Attack is "IA 3200", Atlantis is "IA 3203" and Cosmic Ark is "IA 3204". The next couple of games replace the "IA" with an "O", e.g. Fathom is "O 3205", Moonsweeper is "O 3207", etc. Later game numbers reinstate the "IA", e.g. No Escape is "IA 3312" and Fire Fighter is "IA 3400". I'm curious; does anyone know what these letters signify or why Imagic chose to number their games in this fashion?
