  1. Reading through an old technology related time line, I came across this: "From Saturday, June 15, through Sunday, September 15, Videotopia debuts at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The traveling exhibit offers a hands-on interactive look at the history of video games." (Source: http://web.archive.org/web/20001207070200/http://www.icwhen.com:80/book/the90s/1996.html) Looks like their website's still up: http://www.videotopia.com/ So... anyone been to this? It traveled around for a few years. What was it like? Was their an earlier videogame history exhibit, or was this the first?
  2. I was sorting through last years expo photos and thought i'd share these. Pics are of some Atari Jaguar and Jag-Ware items that we set up in the Interactive History Museum at EB Expo 2015 (Sydney, Australia) as part of our retro area. I wanted to have one museum section highlighting gaming merchandise and show off some Totally Rad Atari Jag-Ware items!
  3. Some time ago, there was a thread about classic video game collections at museums. Unfortunately, I am unable to find it now. Anyway, earlier today I was visiting the Glenbow Museum here in Calgary. One of the current special exhibits is art of the 1970s. In addition to the actual art, there is a small display case with some random items, such as a Jimi Hendrix concern poster, a frisbee, and an original, grey case Coco I. The caption dates it to ca. 1977, but it is definitely not a first-release as it lacks the RAM-amount sticker and the TRS-80 logo is centered on the case. It looks to be in pristine condition (there is no obvious wear). It is located near the front entrance of the ARC Discovery Room on the second floor. It is not worth the Cdn$14 admission charge just to see the Coco (and there are no other video games or vintage computers on exhibit), but overall the museum is worth the money. There is tons of stuff to see, especially the huge arms and armour collection.
  4. Hello guys, some of you already knew I was discussing with the management of my school (I teach game development at James Cook University in Singapore) to get a very small amount of funds to start a museum of video and computer games within our university for our students as well as visitors to enjoy. As far as I know, it would be the first one of its kind over here (maybe even in the whole Asia!?). Today I finally got the "greenlight" and, while I'm going to post a similar message in the 'Wanted' section of the forum, I wanted to tell our Brotherhood first since I'm really excited about this and any help will be very much appreciated! In particular, if any of you needs to get some extra space in your rooms and has an extra system and carts that you would sell at a reasonable price, I'm here to help so please send me a PM and let me know! Anything Inty is an obvious first choice but I'm also looking for Atari, Commodore, Sega, Nintendo and so on. Note that we don't need boxed or rare stuff: anything in good working order will do! Myself and all my students would be eternally grateful and you will of course be welcome to visit us if you ever come to this part of the world! Cheers! Roberto
