I'd argue the original DS/DS Lite is bordering on retro/modern gaming at this point, but I figured I might as well group it with the rest of the systems. With the death of the 3DS eShop earlier this year and the Online service on its way out in March of next year, it's been a bit sad to watch one of my favorite portable systems of all time fall away from the support of its original creator. But at the same time, I've still got all of the wonderful memories of me as a young lad happily playing New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Monster Jam, and many others inherited from my mom way back when. I don't like to get rid of things, so I've still got most of my original games and even my original DS Lite hand-me-down from my mom to remind me of simpler times.. As a 2000s kid, the DS and 3DS were my entire world. Whenever I had the free time, that was the system I played for hours upon hours on end. So many great games only held back by hardware limitations such as the small screens, low resolutions, and processing power. As a kid, this never bothered me. And on the contrary, the 3DS absolutely blew my mind at the time as I had never seen portable gaming like it before. (Never owned/used a PSP, nor even knew about its existence. But that's a story for another day). I wanted to create this thread to serve as a place to discuss all things Nintendo DS. Including hardware, games, quirks, technical issues, modding, homebrew, sharing memories, and whatever else we can think of. I'd like to think that other people on this site have been similarly impacted by these consoles legacies, or at the very least have some fondness over them.

Hi everyone! I recently started getting loose Nintendo DS and 3DS carts for my collection. Not only have I found loose carts to be extremely cheap where I live, but I also realized that I have access to games that I would never get CIB. I used to be obsessed about getting CIB copies (especially for DS and 3DS games), they tend to be hard to store, easy to lose if you're not careful and it's hard to display those games properly. So I was wondering if anyone out there was having a similar problem and maybe found a way to display DS and 3DS carts in a way that looks cool or at least different. I was searching online and most of the solutions require you to get 3D-printed stands that are usually expensive and I would need to pay international shipping for them. At the moment, I'm using a case that was made to store small screws and that can hold a bunch of DS games, but it doesn't look great. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I just found my Nintendo DS Lite on one of the plastic bins I use for storage. I haven't used the system in years and when I opened it and turned it on I found that the screens have a yellowish tint to them. I did a quick research online and found that other people have the same issue with it, but I was wondering if this is a common problem most collectors are aware of or if this only happens under certain conditions (such as humidity or something). It's not clear to me if this was my fault, if this is a hardware problem that affects all systems or if it's just related to the passage of time. To be clear, the plastic bin is sealed and not in direct contact with floor, so that would discard humidity. Now I have a few questions: Is there any way to repair it or should I get another DS? Do all systems from the DS family suffer from the same problem or just the Lites? Does this also happen the DSi or DSi XL systems? Because I'd be more than glad to get one of those if it solves the problem. Finally, I also have a 3DS which I use a lot and love, is there any chance this might happen with the 3DS? Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to reading your responses. I'll attach a picture below too.

One of my favorite parts about playing Pokemon HeartGold on the Nintendo DS was the game's post content. More specifically, I'm referring to the number of legendaries you could catch. Over the past few years, I sort of lost track of Pokemon games and since I played HeartGold to death, I didn't feel the need to play another one of those. That said, I really want to get back into the series, so I recently got Ultra Sun and I just started playing Alpha Sapphire. My question is simple, but I can't really find a straight answer: which Pokemon game has the most number of legendaries. I know some of the latest Pokemon games have a ton of legendaries, but you can only get one of two per version and you need both of those to get a third or something awfully specific like that. What I was wondering is, which game has the most legendaries if you only play one version and you do no trading at all. If my memory serves me right, HeartGold had Mewtwo, the three dogs, the three birds, Lugia and Ho-Oh and more, I want more of that and I was wondering if I'm going to be disappointed with Alpha Sapphire and Ultra Sun. Thanks in advance!

After having "found" my old DS, I'm back into doing some portable gaming. I've been playing some old favorites: New Super Mario Bros., Crono Trigger, Pokemon Pearl, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mario & Luigi (both games), and Yoshi's Island. I'm curious as to what you guys and gals are playing on either your DS or 3DS. Doesn't matter if it's a brand-new title or an old favorite...what are you playing?
