  1. Hi there, I have two old Super Nintendo systems (PAL). My first system ran from 1993 until 2000, when some kind of power surge fried a few devices in my entertainment setup. After that, I picked up a cheap SNES and have been using that since. Only recently, I've pulled the broken SNES out of it's box and tried further diagnosis. I'm a bit of an electronics hobbyist, so I figured I'd have a better chance of finding the problem out now. The reason why is because I want a 2nd working SNES to experiment with for modding. I have ruled out external peripheral issues. Swapping the broken console out with the working console using the same peripherals produces different outcomes, so the problem lies in the system itself. Each game has a unique method on the broken system, but it ultimately comes down to the same outcome: the game freezes within the first several seconds of the game starting. It seems to happen around the times where the game is expected to poll the sound processor for it's status. For example, Super Mario All-stars works until the lights go on in the title screen, then it just freezes, but the sound effects are also missing up to that point. Secret of Mana freezes on the Squaresoft title screen, seemingly just before the sound effect kicks in. Has anyone experienced similar, or have any ideas on this? I'm very concerned that it might be the SPC700 or the DSP ICs playing up, but I want to rule out all other possibilities.
  2. Hi there, first time poster, so apologies if Im in the wrong place for posting this.... I tried to set up my wife's SNES before Christmas to play some games with her, but I had this graphical issue: http://imgur.com/jio6NoN This happens with all of our games, and doesnt change based on using the RF connector or the A/V one either. Ive also tried rubbing the contacts on the console with a piece of cardboard (its what I had to hand) and rubbing the contacts on the carts too. Im just wondering what my next step would be, my wife loves her SNES, she has had a long time, and we dont want to have to throw it away. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  4. Well I don't have a SNES but I thought someone might want these or want to trade for these. I am asking $50 for all of them and shipping will be figured on where they go to,or trade for something from my list below. They have all been tested and work as seen and Lord of The rings comes with a manual which has seen some love. There is pen in the password section and some pencil marks through the maps I would put it as fair condition. Mortal Kombat has a sticker on the back as well but I will probably remove that if I can without damaging the back label. This is what I am looking for if you want to trade. 8. I got a broken SNES off my friend. The round plastic piece that is inside the AC Adapter socket is broken off...which I hear is a common issue with SNES...so it works but if you move the power supply wire it will turn on and off since it's loose. I thought there was a tutorial on here about removing the power socket completely and replacing it with a laptop power cable? Or is there anyway to buy a new SNES power supply socket to solder onto the board to replace the broken one? Thanks for your help!
  9. hello guys. I'm selling my projects to fund the improvements for my house. I do this kind of projects to repair my house. I live in a old house made by my grandfather, it need some repairs and this is the way I got funding. I had made the Nintoaster (with original hardware) the Atari 2600 with windows 7 system autoboot directly to emulation. (no need to click a mouse or keyboard. ) please see the ebay links thank you for your support. 10. Like the title says, I'm looking for an US model Super Nintendo system in nice condition. By that I mean no yellowing, little in the way of scratching on top, both rubber feet on the bottom present, and an OEM power supply, composite cables, and a scratch-free OEM controller included. Price wise I'm up for paying around $60 to $65 shipped via PayPal, which seems to be what really nice looking Super Nintendos are going for on eBay at the moment. As far as games and accessories go I'd also be interested in a minty Super Advantage arcade stick and cart only copies of Star Fox, Doom, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with mint labels, or perhaps the keys of Barad-dûr itself; along with the crowns of the seven kings and the rods of the five wizards. Okay, maybe I'm asking a little much with those last few, but suffice it to say condition is important to me. Thanks for taking the time to view my thread and just shoot me a PM if you're interested in selling.
  11. I'm looking for a legitimate set of S-Video cables that will work on the SNES, N64 and GC. From the reviews I am reading on various sites some cheaper S-Video cables are actually just a passthrough for a composite signal. No! What is the point of that. Below are a set that I found on Amazon and appear to be pretty cheap and actually put out an S-Video signal. Can anyone confirm that based on the listing? If not is there another set somewhere you can confirm are legitimate S-Video signal cables in the Nintendo output style? My application is for an SNES mini and N64 being hooked up to my CRT with S-Video inputs. I have found S-Video looks great and is the best way to get a decent picture out of your system without resorting to mods (which I often do anyway, lol) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LE3EAIK/?coliid=I1LBKDS0R8LAYR&colid=3C9JYID8UW0H3&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  12. Hi all! This may end up being a boring read, but I thought I'd document my Super NT purchase in a Blog. Just a one off... Mainly because I'm going to pick the color at random. First, I've wanted an Analogue Super NT since they were first announced. SNES in HD here I come! For what it's worth (FWIW), when I could afford one, at first they were still in "Pre-Order" mode...Then they only had black. Then they appeared to be out of stock at one point when I had money so I bought a RetroN 77 instead, Which may have been a mistake...But That's another story. Now the MEGA SG (A sort of HD SEGA Genesis FPGA Console) will be coming out and I HAVE To HAVE one of Those too!!! Damn you Analogue! But, the MEGA SG is in "Pre-Order" mode now and will be coming out in April 2019, so I have time to save for that separately and get this (SUPER NT) NOW. Back when I was in college I bought a SNES in January of 1992 and then later bought a Sega Genesis, also in 1992, and that also marked the first time I bought a console that was Not the latest thing. I've Loved both ever since. I had an MGH (or Multi Game Hunter ) that worked for BOTH SNES and Genesis allowing me to put games on discs. I've also bought tons of games for each system. And now I have Everdrives too...Moving on. I'm picking the color of the console AT RANDOM. I thought it would make an interesting purchase and I'd document it here. Even if just a couple of people read it or comment, I'll be happy. Otherwise it's just for me and that's cool too They discontinued the transparent color (which I didn't want anyway) so there's 3 color choices: BLACK, CLASSIC, and SFC (SUPER FAMICOM). So initially I wanted CLASSIC....Purple and gray, Just like my SNES. FWIW, I still have my SNES from '92 plus a couple more in case one breaks (Perish the thought!)... Then when all they had available was BLACK, I set my sights on it... Now, with all color choices available to order I've given new thought to SFC because nobody really thinks about it and they'll likely be more rare, I assume. Not that I'm not really worried about rarity or anything. If I were to guess, I'd think Black was the most common since it seemed the most widely available, but that could also imply they sold out of the Classic color scheme quickly because of its popularity...So perhaps Black and Classic are the most common while SFC would be less popular here I'd predict, but bigger in Japan (as everyone matches their nostalgia with a color scheme haha)...The Transparent (See-Through) one, Now discontinued would be the rare one for collectors, but it was easily my least favorite anyway. And matching wireless controllers are available from 8BITDO for any color choice. So...Here's my thoughts currently: CLASSIC Matches my SNES and I've always liked that color scheme. BLACK Matches my soul and my PS2, plus my Retro Duo is black,... and my Vader 2600, my Black Dreamcast... Also might look neato parked next to my MEGA SG, once I get one of those (It will be mainly black). SFC Matches some SFC controllers I have and might be spiffy to be the oddball who goes for this choice, since I predict this one will be bigger in Japan. Below is a pic of the matching controllers, but from what I've read I assume (but don't know for certain) all of their controllers will work with the Super NT if you have the Retro Receiver...I think you can also use these on the SNES/NES Classic if you have the Classic Receiver (So I'll get a couple of those too)... OK SO now to trust in the RANDOM ENERGY of the Universe! (Skulls and Spidey are pretty Random ...Hmm so is Jango Fett...maybe next time) I do this often, for example, rolling dice to see which CD Comp I will listen to....Including randomly picking which spool of CDs, which disc and which song... I could just roll a die, but then the saga would end too quickly... What I'm going to do is this: Collect points for each color choice based upon die rolls and then the winner will be the first Color to a certain amount of points. I'll explain as I go... First the Winner will need X Amount of points. X will equal 3 dice rolled. I will Add them up. (Rolling 3 standard 6 sided dice now)... X = 2 + 1 + 4 = 7 The Winner needs 7 points! OK Now for each die roll the following COLOR gets a point: (I'll list the colors alphabetically) 1 BLACK 2 CLASSIC 3 SFC 4 BLACK 5 CLASSIC 6 SFC I'm making a Matrix below and will add one hashmark (Represented as "I") for each die roll until one color gets to 7 (For example, rolling a 2 would give CLASSIC a point. Does that make sense ? I hope so) Here goes Nothing! ***At this point I roll the dice, and tally the points until one color reaches 7 points*** BLACK CLASSIC SFC I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I And after all is said and done CLASSIC is The WINNER! There was a lot of back and forth that would not have been easy to put into a Blog (I didn't want to be too confusing), but before that final die roll, both Classic and SFC had 6 points... I am now going to order a CLASSIC SUPER NT!! And later on,... a Controller for the Super NT, A CollectorVision Phoenix, a MEGA SG ...And I should also keep saving to get out of debt haha... Thanks for reading!

  17. I found a decent item for cheap at around 2004, a 3D Zero SNES controller adapter. At first it worked, for both a control pad as well as a fight stick. Then later I bought Pataank, and the 3D Zero didn’t work. It didn’t work with neither the SNES Pad nor fight stick. But the Goldstar 3DO controller and Panasonic fight stick work fine. Also I tested the daisy chaining abilities of the 3D Zero, it worked anywhere from Player 1/4 to Player 4/4. I know it can work with up to 8 people, but I don’t have 8 controllers. First of all, any 3D Zero owners notice an incompatibility with Pataank, or is it just mine? Second, can anyone name a 3DO game they have that doenst work with a 3D Zero? Finally, how do other SNES->3DO adapters work with their 3DO games, i especially what to hear about incompatible ones with 3D Zero, like Pataank?
  18. Well, the time has now come for me to permanently end my modding/repair services. I no longer have the energy for it, and I plan to get a full-time job and save up for a potential move, so I figured now should be the time to put the Mod & Repair Shack to an end. I want to thank everyone who has dealt with me over the past few years, and I will still be around to give out references and technical advice. I will also stand behind my work and should any previous customer of mine need help with their modded/repaired system, I'll be there.
  19. I'm looking to get rid of everything I've 'collected' over the years. I don't really consider myself a collector, I just rarely get rid of stuff I buy. More like a hoarder. Most of what I have came from buying it retail when it was available. I have boxed stuff from Colecovision and Intellivision from when I was a young teenager so the boxes suffered a little but survived. I don't have any rare titles, it's the condition that make it unique. The ColecoVision is 'like new' in the box complete. The Genesis, SegaCD, SNES, 3d0, Saturn, and Dreamcast are all complete in box as are most of their games. They are all US / NTSC versions (except for one import [Japan] SNES cart). Also available are some Playstation longbox games. These items are headed to EBay but listing is going to take way too much time and I've had varying results in the past. I will sell as lots or break them up. I'll consider all cash offers and don't wish to trade. Buyer pays shipping and payment will be accepted through Paypal. My list and pictures can be seen at www.kozscorner.com and I can be contacted through this the link or through Atariage. I can also take more pictures and send upon request.
  20. Discontinued 7800 Ball mod service 4/4/2014. Info left for posterity. 7800 Controller Mod: The CX-24 controller for the 7800 has WAY too tall of a joystick, causing a lot of torque and pulling it out of the players hand. I have been modding ColecoVision controllers with ball knobs for a several of years now, so I decided to do basically the same thing with the 7800 joystick. I experimented with different joystick lengths and the one in the pictures below worked the best in my tests. This is a huge improvement IMO. Ball knob mod price is $10 for 1 or $15 for a set This service is for ball knobs only not controller refurbishing. For those looking for 2600, 5200 and 7800 console mods, I highly recommend electronicsentimentalities.com for 2600, 5200 and 7800 mod boards. Joe provides a great product and excellent customer service and is a pleasure to do business with. Here is a link. http://electronicsen...mbled Mods.html I also recommend the high quality pause mod board offered here on AtariAge in the AtariAge store. http://www.atariage....ct_detail&p=953 Battery Replacement Services Discontinued.

  22. Possibly the best thing I've ever owned since my Atari 7800 flash cart (which broke sadly and I never got around to fixing - because I'm afraid I'd break it even more trying to fix - the cart slot slipped and fell into it).

  24. Hi... I just purchased an "Atari ST 520" off of ebay for the first time "Ever"; I never really owned one before so I am a first time of one of these machines. I was wondering has anyone ever programmed Mode 7 style graphics on the Atari ST? I've posted picture of a demo of mode 7 on a Sega Genesis and wonder if anyone ever tried to pull it off on the ST yet? It sounds like a neat little project for somebody.
  25. I live in a country where most of the NES games you'd buy were pirated (cheap Chinese knockoffs that had hundreds and sometimes thousands of games.) Although that was the perfect way to get to know games that were never released officially by Nintendo here, I simply detest to collect pirated games, so over the years I started amassing a collection with the real thing. A few days ago, I came across a post on Facebook of someone selling a lot with 9 SNES and Famicom games. I have no experience with the console, since it was never officially released here, so I wanted to check with some of you before making an offer. I really want to get those games because you never find them where I live, so that solves paying to ship those games, but I want to make sure they are the real thing and that I'm not paying my hard earned money for nothing. How do I detect pirated games? Oh, I'd also appreciate it if you could tell me how much you'd pay for them. Thanks in advance!!! These are the games: Batman Returns, Super Street Fighter (Super Famicom), Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, Sonic Blast Man (Super Famicom), Clay Fighter, Taz-Mania, Demolition Man and Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions.
