Hello Atari owners and modders. I'm trying to add an audio / composite output on my "new" atari 2600 (NTSC 4 switch), but I can't obtain any image... The console worked yesterday with RF output, but with no sound and a really weird/dirty b&w image. That's why I decided to add an A/V mod to permanently solve the problem. I think I choose the cheaper solution: 2 resistances and 1 transistor, similar to the easier-7800-composite-video-mod My circuit is the same as the solution proposed by brighty83 for a PAL version here (down of the page):http://retro.mmgn.co...ari-2600-AV-Mod I found the same cicuit on ebay, sellers detail the process on their installation guides for NTSC versions: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FAtari-2600-7800-Composite-Video-Mod-Upgrade-Kit-DIY-%2F300592126324 (see Installation Guides for atari 2600 4 switch) or http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.fr%2FAtari-2600-A-V-Composite-Video-Mod-Kit-NTSC-PAL-DIY-%2F181042624250%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_0%26hash%3Ditem2a26fb36fa installation guide: http://www.filedropp...stallationguide (page 10 for NTSC 4 switch) Here is the circuit (sorry for the poor image quality): Video out and GND ---> Video RCA Audio out and GND ---> Audio RCA As mentionned on guides for NTSC 4 switch, I removed the RF box, Q202 and R209: The sound works well, but no images, it's so sad... I don't know what to do, and I'm dying about playing with it, in good conditions I mean. Some of you tried this mod? any idea ? Fujisama

Eugene Jarvis - Atari - Podcast Interview - Creator of Defender, Robotron & Stargate This is probably my favourite interview to date as I have a long and in-depth chat with arcade, Atari and Williams legend Eugene Jarvis. Eugene shares some great stories of working at Atari, what it was like working with Nolan Bushnell, creating Defender and Stargate. He also talks what inspired him to make Robotron: 2084, Smash T.V. and loads more. He also looks at his current work at Raw Thrills where he keeping arcades alive with amazing innovations. He also talks about his views on the Jeff Minter's Defender 2000 on the Jaguar. The 1 hour 30 mins chat with Arcade Attack is honest, funny and really insightful. I would be so honoured if you checked it out and shared your feedback. Hey all, We are NewWaveToys (the creators of Replicade) and we just launched a Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/529306246/replicade-mini-centipede-arcade-machine-replica-12 We are going for a truly authentic feel with our Centipede machine, just in 1/6th scale. It is completely licensed through Atari, which allows us to use all the original art as well as the original ROM. We posted on the Replicade thread, but we also wanted to create our own. If you have any questions about the Centipede machine or anything else, feel free to ask! (although I may not be able to answer everything).

Ever since i laid eyes upon Laurens Simonis and Yiri T. Kohl's TNT Terry, i wanted to know if there was more beyond the existing prototype cartridges and potos showcasing the game playable during one of the old JagFests. That led me in contacting Yiri, who worked as graphic artist in the project (http://yiri.maniac.com/ego_lynx.html) via Facebook and sure enough, i found him in October 2018 but took a year later for Yiri to respond my DM. He told me about his experience working for the Lynx, stating the following: - "I hear you! Unfortunately developing stuff for the actual hardware is,or at leas was, at the time, not as simple as, say, pick up a c++ devkit for making something run a a gameboy advance.... Which is why I never picked up the project again in later years." Afterwards, i told him if by some miracle he had artwork for TNT Terry after all these years, since they could be lost for some reason. Luckily, he did and send me a .zip file containing all of the surviving artwork for the project. I want to thank Yiri T. Kohl for preserving his decades-long work and allowing me to showcase it for everybody. Here's the .zip file for all to enjoy. I hope someday that a .ROM of the TNT Terry demo is preserved for historical purposes... :) Also, check out Yiri's other website, which hosts a GBA homebrew conversion of Oil's Well: https://shintaro.home.xs4all.nl/shinlabs/index.html tnt_terry.zip TERRY.tif

Hi everyone, I'm new here but I am a long time Atari collector and have always wanted to join this forum. anyways, I have an issue on my hands in the form of a beat up 4-port 5200 I just picked up. I got this thing for 5$, it came with the controllers and console, that's it. I don't have any more 5200s so I had to buy a switch box and a power supply. I just got all that in today and tested it, and I'm getting nothing, no sound, and no video. I already measured the supply and it looks good and the switch box seems to be outputting the correct voltage and has a reassuring spark. I heard something about different 5200s using different power supplies, I bought one that says 9.3 VDC (I hope that's ok.) I just don't know what to test next or where to go, the red led doesn't even light up when I turn it on. the switch is really gummy but I don't know which points to jump to bypass it. please help with my 5200, thanks!

Greetings! I've got a small lot of Atari drives that I'm selling. Atari 1050s: Two that are complete, one that is just the board. They all power up, but two won't read disks. There is a drive for the board, but the cable to the read head is severed. Atari 810s: Two that are in good physical condition and one that was disassembled (and a couple of cracks in the body/case). Like the 1050's they power up, but haven't read a disk since our move. All drive power up, and the disk does the initial spin. Drives attempt to read the disks, but eventually fail (disk read error). Most have power supplies included (or not, your choice). Price - $20 each or make offer. You can choose all or some. Will work a deal for for multiple drives or the lot. Available to local, or anyone willing to pay the shipping and some packing materials. Shipping from North Carolina, 28078. I'll get pictures up and post them soon. If there's no interest here, I will post on eBay next. Poe

Hello I stumbled upon what I believe to be CX-10 joystick. Could anyone give me a description with details and history on the joystick. I know it's less sensitive with better build materials (rubber stick for example) and that try account for (I heard) only 5% of all the joysticks ever made. Any info? SIDENOTE: Anyone have a H6R adapter. I want to complete my set and that adapters all I'm missing.

My monstrous connections for atari 2600 (repro boards). I know the easiest ways to do this job, but I have to work with what I have at hand. These children have just been born. Atari F8 and atari 4k PLCC32.

Still running down my laundry list of more minor tweaks. The past few things I've done are: - WSYNC screen color changes tweaking. I can't believe it, but on several screens I had the WSYNC on the DLI *after* the actual color register change, not *before*. Thus in the 5200 version there are a few screens where you can see a color change mid-scanline. I tested 5200 AdvII on a 27" CRT so it probably didn't concern me , or I didn't notice it back in 2007. So, I fixed a handful of those screens for the XEGS version, and those screens are more rock-solid looking now. See the before and after screen shots - look carefully along the logs and you'll see blue water color on the before pic . - Minotaur Freeze State. I never got to put this into the 5200 version but always wanted to have some way you could take out the Minotaur, even if just for a short while. In the XE version, the Blue Key will freeze the Minotaur in his tracks until you remove the key from that screen. - I also finally located a bit of code that needed some gentle massaging (either that or more Hard Work* ) to stop the Troll from BAMF-ing ** around at times. Fixed! * obscure AA reference ** BAMF is the comic book sound effect in X-men comics when Nightcrawler would teleport. BAMF! Al is going to have a recent version at the PRGE show , running on an XEGS machine. See prior blogs for other recent tweaks to Adventure II XE.

After many questions and requests we've decided to introduce new coding compo for the 8 bit Atari: "Illegal is legal". To take part in the compo your entry needs to meet some requirements: - they may only use illegal opcodes, - they should switch OFF the OS in the very beginning, - they should work on every Atari machine located within 320 km from Licheń Stary, - they don't use addresses such as $d200-1f, $d301, $d640-$d65f, $d740-$d75f etc. [polish text: grab the teddy bear xxl]

Hi everyone. It came to my knowledge the Hackaday 1K challenge where some fellow Atariagers made entries (Dominant Amber by Wickeycolumbus, Cave 1K, Splatform and Robot City by Thomas Jentzsch) I had my Toledo Atomchess game that plays pretty basic chess with AI so I ported it to 6502 and added a kernel for board display and interface, it came out very well. So now I'm also in the contest https://hackaday.io/project/19270-toledo-atomchess-for-atari-vcs2600 not expecting to win or something but already feeling good of challenging the challenge It works right away with Stella, for real Atari you need to pad it to 2K for Harmony. Find annex the latest version (also in Github) Small usage guide: * Computer plays legal basic chess movements * Move with joystick, push button to select, push button to drop. * Promotion of pawns only to queen. * No castling * No enpassant * No move validation (if you push button in the wrong square... well you can imagine it) Now video with comment (don't put attention on my attempt to speak English ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Du4krvIl7o toledo_atomchess_6502.bin toledo_atomchess_6502.asm toledo_atomchess_6502.lst
