I mean these: Basically, I remember using these on my Atari 2600 Jr. and I liked how they felt to me. (I understand they probably weren't meant for the Jr, but the 7800, but still!) But ebay seems to want like... 59.99 for a set? That seems realllllly steep. Is that correct?

I recently purchased a couple of UAV kits from Bryan, so I thought I'd document my installations. http://atariage.com/forums/gallery/album/2096-uav-installation/ Initially I found it difficult to find installation information, but I soon realised that it was in all the forums, it just wasn't all in the same place. The installation of the UAV mod in the XEGS was extremely easy. The most difficult part was deciding how I wanted to implement the mod, and my decision changed a few times and still is not yet complete. I usually want to keep my machines in mint condition, unless something about them indicates that its not really worth it...maybe a broken case, repaired electronics, or I have more than one machine of a particular type in my collection. In this case, the machine I chose to mod had already been repaired by me. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258432-xegs-repair/?hl=%2Bhawk+%2Bxegs I had originally planned to remove the 4050 chip when I installed the UAV but realised that if I did that I would lose the RF output. I don't use the RF output if I can help it but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to totally remove it. From the monitor photos you'll see that I went to the trouble of replacing the original LCD driver board with a TV tuner LCD controller board. https://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-controller-board-Kit-diy-VGA-HDMI-USB-TV-for-LCD-LED-Display-Monitor-Panel/152446068465?hash=item237e7e66f1:g:PlsAAOSwdGFYxLsS that allowed me to use RF in for some of my older machines including my 400. I ended up soldering the socket that came with the UAV kit directly onto the pins of the 4050 chip and then plugging in the daughter board. It almost worked first time, however I hadn't realised that I had to provide a colour input signal to the daughter board. I removed the centre pin of the composite out socket from the motherboard and wired the UAV output directly to that. I also included the extra ground wire. I didn't have any small shielded cables so I used regular hookup wire. You'll see from the photos in the album that there was not a great difference in the compisite signal before and after the mod. To be honest, the image was pretty good to start with. However, the S-video output made a big difference. I'd forgotten that my LCD monitor couldn't handle S-video, so I had to test it out on a CRT TV. I had yet to take photos of the S-video. I am also deciding how to fit the S-video socket on the rear of the XEGS. The socket I was able to buy locally is not the one that I'd prefer so I'm putting off installing that for a little bit longer. I'll update again after I've completed that mod...then it will be on to the 400. The 400 will be delayed until I can receive an Audio mod card from Bryan so that I can also get sound after bypassing the RF.

One Atari 800 from storage from the BBS operator of the Action Annex BBS. I have been an electronics technician for 25 years and serviced equipment up to server level contracts. The 800 has 48KB and monitor cable and power supply. Repaired the integrated power supply caps and regulators. One has the transformer built into the chassis with a fan added with vent holes in the RF shield and plastic ram card holder. The vented Atari had the pokey chip replaced with a known good working spare. I cleaned the case, completely disassembled and visually inspected. They were in a storage unit in a box for more than 10 years. This 800 have been used for a month since coming out of storage from a friend who had to hastily move in with relatives across the US. It is a NTSC OS B model. I was already stood up on Ebay for international buyers. So, no. If you want it, get a friend in the US to buy it for you and ship it to you. Ships from zip code 98686 at 15 lbs. This one does not have a cartridge door. It has the chassis switch bypassed to the closed position. So you use the power switch to cycle the machine and switch cartridges. The vented "Venti" 800 still has the 800 power socket if you want to use an external power supply instead of the internal transformer later. You will have to remove the internal transformer if you want to go external. The internal transformer is also fuse protected and chassis grounded to the board for safety. I am anal about that. It is rated from 115VAC 60 hz use only. The fan is powered by a small 12VDC wall wart on it's own AC cord. It has been running for two months solid with no hangs, lockups, since the power supplies were rebuilt. Ran through many .ATR images, created and archived 400 floppy images for archiving of the BBS disks. If you want the set of ram cartridge cases for the Venti Atari, I can throw them in. Includes a 5 pin din to luma/chroma or composite video cable, and mono audio of course. 75 + shipping I have another Atari 800 for parts going up for sale soon.

I was just wondering if anyone had spare Atari 5200 2 port machine they could sell me cheap. I was given a machine a month and some ago and after i got some games and a power cable for it ,it turned out to be dead. Like really dead ,someone plugged in an incorrect power supply and and blew a bunch of caps and resistors and who knows what else on the board. So if some one had one and could spare it or sell it or what ever id be very grateful ! I live in Ontario Canada just to let people know. Im not sure how much just a 2 port console by its self goes for but im hoping its like 60$ CAD or under. I dunno let me know and we can work something out im sure lol. Thanks for looking!

Ok, I have a Vader, a Jr. and a 7800. I use the Jr. 99% of the time and I'm really happy with the performance of it. I find the picture quality to be better on the Jr. than on the Vader. I'm considering selling the Vader and the 7800 and putting the money toward a decent sixer. Don't get me wrong, I really like the 7800, but don't play it very often. I only have 4 games for it and I just can't afford some of the games I'd be interested in having for it. I figure there's someone out there who could give it a better home and actually get some enjoyment out of it. I've always like the look of the sixers, but when it comes to the difference between the light and the heavy, is it purely cosmetic or are there differences in the the actual electronics? Is the Sears version any different/better than the Atari version or is it just a matter of looks? I can tell you I like the look of the wood grain on the Sears more than the Atari, but I'm on the fence about the silver around the switches, so it's 50/50 for me. I wouldn't mind hearing how many people prefer the look of the Sears and how many like the look of the Atari version and why. I'm interested in hearing opinions on how people feel about the price difference between the light and the heavy. For someone on a tight budget, is it worth it to try and get a heavy or just be satisfied with the light sixer? I know the ones made in Sunnyvale are higher priced, for someone who just wants a nice looking sixer to play, is it worth the difference in price? Some of you know, I'm on a fixed income. So price plays a big factor in everything. The way I figure it, all I can spend is what I make from selling my Vader and 7800 and possibly some other stuff. I don't know if it will be enough to get a decent Heavy sixer or not, but that's my goal. I guess what I'm looking for is some reassurances that a light sixer is just as good, in case I can't raise enough money for a heavy. However, if you convince me that only a heavy sixer will do, then it might force me to dig up more stuff to sell, so I can get one. (I've got another stone lodged in my kidney, so if my post is a little "weird", it's because I'm on some serious pain medications right now.)

Ok so I dont know if Im in the minority, but whenever I tried to learn batari basic I find them a tad confusing, like whenever i attempt to make something I just dont understand enough to make anything... But you know what I did understand, Atari Basic A Self Teaching Guide: https://www.atariarchives.org/basic/ One of the things that Random Terrain recommended that I look at before I tried Batari Basic. While I didn't understand BATARI Basic I feel like I under stand ATARI Basic very well. It felt kind a fun with the examples and with the practice in the book it helped really pound in the language and how to actually use it. Am I only one who thinks that Batari Basic could use this self teaching guide treatment as well?

Hello, I'm new to this board and so excited to see this homebrew/hack world. So, sorry for my noobiness. I am a pro wrestler and entertainer who works through the midwest and Japan. This last spring I was featured on the ABC reboot at Uncle Clutch on the Gong Show. I also have had a film crew that had followed me the past 2 years for a short documentary. The film will debut next spring and will run across he country. It's called "Kinderchomper". I'm known as "The baby eating menace of Japan" and will return there for a tour next week. Anyways, I am curious about the possibility of a "Kinderchomper" 2600 game like like an old film tie in game. Possibly a hack of Pac Man but eating babies or Title Match Pro Wrestling. We can still fit the game into the end credits of the film and if a physical cartridge could be linked to on the film at plugged at the festivals. I'm also hosting horror films like the classic horror hosts of old on Roku in winter and can plug the game and the Atari community in general. Youtube "Uncle Clutch" and "Barking Spider Clutch" to see more if you're interested. I can send a private link to the documentary as well. It's just a short film about wrestling and also an Arnold Schwarzeneggar art exhibition of mine. I'd really love to see this game a reality, but as I said. I'm not a programmer and am quite oblivious to what it takes to hack or make a physical game. I'm also not interested in making any personal profit from the game. Thanks for reading and I'm happy to be a part of the Atari Age community. Thanks again. Uncle Clutch @kurokumoclutch

After 29 days (including waiting for parts) I finally restored (partially) my friends Atari 2600. It had been sitting in his Mom's closet for 25+ years and when I plugged it in, it worked like a charm. I placed a fresh coat of paint (trim) and restored his joystick with all new parts because the parts that were inside were very worn, especially the top of his joystick. I fixed and replaced much more (link provided). I gave his Atari 2600 a nice bubble bath w/ scrub (laughs) and a nice (small) moderate shine. The parts that can be washed that is. LMBO. Enclosed is a before (top) and after (bottom) photo. My friend died in 2007 from a chronic disease at age 38, thus last month his Mom sent me his Atari system as a gift. Enclosed is the entire project at the link below. Click on images for description. The story begins on photo #2. RIP Charley. PS All the games were his (I cleaned and shined them up/contacts), excluding Donkey Kong, which I purchased. https://flic.kr/s/aHsm6ZFZ3Q

According to Part 14 of the Atari Lynx Programming Tutorial, it says that Bit 3 in a "Static and dynamic control" register enables its timer. As for audio timers, does clearing it make the channel stay active forever, or does it shut itself off? I notice that Lynx Chipper cuts off the note after 2 seconds of playback, so it probably means the counter is on the max value and "Reload" (Bit 4) is disabled. I know that an IRQ is generated when the value is reloaded, does it reset LFSR sound phase?? Does this also affect "Integrate" (Bit 5) mode? Also, what does "Reset timer done" (Bit 6) do? Does it generate IRQ when it's changed to something different than last write? Is "Enable interrupt" (Bit 7) persistent on audio? It is used as LFSR feedback bit 7, but in Chipper its checkbox is grayed out. Probably means feedback bit 7 can't be used while counting.

Hi Guys I hope you don't mind me posting this here. As you know I have an Atari 800XL which has a Simius RGB mod and an Electrotrains Ultimate cart. However some of my fondest memories were from the ST, so I created an Atari ST case for the Raspberry Pi. I've recently got a new filament colour that I think is pretty close to the original case. https://retropicases.com/collections/raspberry-pi-cases/products/atari-st-retro-raspberry-pi-case I make these to order and usually ship in 7-10 days. I hope you like them. You can run an Atari emulator using Retropie and the Hatari emulator as per this link: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Atari-ST-STE-TT-Falcon Steddy

An email, as well as a letter with pictures of both examples have been sent to Glenn Hendricks (Mayor) and Gustav Larsson (Vice Mayor) of Sunnyvale, CA. I'm dedicated to making this happen, but I understand it'll be a process. I wanted to stop by and share this with you all. Feel free to voice your opinions. I'll be sure to keep in touch as this project develops. –Evan
