  7. From the album: RetroIndieGamer's classic games collection

This is my Atari 2600 jr. and a few other goodies. To the left of the console is an Atari 2600 joystick, an Atari 2600 plug-n-play, an Intellivision plug-n-play, and a Genesis plug-n-play. To the right of the console is a Pac-man plug-n-play which has Pac-man, Super Pac-man, and Pac & Pal, and below it is the Atari 2600 paddle controller. Actually, it is the paddle controller for the Flashback 4, but it does work with the original unit,

  15. Hello and welcome, I always thought the idea of a real life Atari gaming event was awesome. This system has quick, energetic games that get the blood flowing which is perfect for a social gathering. It's a bummer that this event is only one weekend, in one state. (Cali) And I'm not able to attend those meetups. However, I thought It would be fun to host an Atari Party of my own every week on my Twich Channel: AtariParty I've got around 150 games in my collection, and a supercharger to load games from my pc, so there will be lots of options. Game will be played on an ACTUAL CONSOLE Voting for the next game would be fun, too. I was wondering if this sounds like a good idea to anybody. I will be starting TOMORROW, Tuesday night around 6PM Central Time, and hopefully stream every other Tuesday, too! Hope to see some of you over at twitch.tv/atariparty -blade

  17. Hello everyone, I have a question regarding Atari800MacX emulator. There are games like Draconus and Blinky's Scary School that just work when changed the configuration to 130XE; but seems it's no use with others like Dropzone and Alleycat. Any idea on what to do in order to have all (or most) games working in this program? Regards, - Y -
  18. I've got an Atari 5200 motherboard to sell - either for parts or if someone thinks its issue is an easy one to fix. Essentially when I got my 5200 years ago, I noticed a fault where periodically all the controller ports would cease to detect a couple directions (I think left and down) for a random period of time. I was not terribly tech savvy at the time and just replaced the mobo, though it could simply just be a cold solder joint or a bad IC somewhere on the board, I don't know. If you want to give that a shot - or just harvest some of the components on the board - then here you go! This does NOT include the RF/power cable, which I reused for my existing board. I'll accept any offers I think that are fair.
  19. Hello all, now that I have pulled the atari out and started getting into the the 'scene' again. I wondered what I would want to do that would contribute to the community. I am not a great coder, I am not a hardware designer, I do love to do mods, and consider myself pretty good with a soldering iron. I am a mechanic, so I love to fix and tinker. I also love to play Roleplaying games.. but OLD SCHOOL pen and paper Roleplaying games. To that end I LOVED INFOCOM, even Adventure International.. I loved text adventures. I think the INFOCOM items were software I always lined up to buy when it came out. The only ones that if someone put a new one up on Ebay.. I would buy.. and open it.. and play it! I also know that INFOCOM created an engine of sorts for dealing with text input, and that later Synapse came out with BTZ (Better than Zork) text input engine. I think I would love to try my hand at writing a text adventure. IS there any information what happened to this software? IS it possible to reverse engineer it from a game? What is the legal status of that at this point? I did write my own on the level of AI text games, back in the day.. it was a 9 room dungeon adventure, and the vocabulary was about 24 words and the if/than tables I had to make in basic back then were crazy. and huge just for 9 locations with on average 5-7 actions possible in a given location. Anyway.. would love to hear about anything you might know.. can I use these "engines" to help me write my new "electronic novel" James
  20. So I know that a lot of games were exclusive to consoles or exclusive to arcades, but of those that were ported, which would you rather play? The arcade or console version? I know some games I prefer the arcade version because of the graphics and sound and the controls. But other games, I prefer using a console's controller over the arcades. Sometimes, there's also just the nostalgia of playing the consoles. What games would you rather play on the console and which games would you rather play on the arcade? My Partial list Arcade: Street Fighter and other fighting games Double Dragon and other beat em ups Raiden and other SHMUPS Most Atari games Racing games Console: Platformers like Super Mario Sports games like NBA Jam and RBI Baseball and Punch Out Strategy games like Bomberman Adventure games like Gauntlet
  21. I'll be getting back into the competitve gaming scene pretty soon, and have spent a couple weeks going over old team videos to reminisce about old times. The backstory. I've been a competitive gamer for since Goldeneye 007 on N64 where I would attend ( and win ) small local tournaments and other events. I've since moved onto the CounterStrike games where i've been running a top level gaming team for 10 years this summer. The other player in this video is better known as "Steel". Steel has been playing at the pro level for some time, and is a long time friend of mine. He stayed at my place for a month many years ago and we filmed a bunch of competitve gaming related stuff including us engaging in some heated Atari 2600 competitions. I figured i'd share this with the retro gamers on this site. This goes to show that just because it's old, doen't mean it can't be fun! https://youtu.be/cERmZuO1qws?t=473 https://youtu.be/cERmZuO1qws?t=473
