  2. Hello together! Would like to start a separate topic for MAC/65 out of a discussion within the ACTION! source code topic. As of 2015 to my knowledge there are 3 carts and 2 disk versions of MAC/65 available: - MAC/65 Macro Assembler (disk|cart) version, year : 2.00, 1982 (disk) version, year : 4.20, 1982 (disk) version, year : 1.02, 1984 (black cart?) version, year : 1.01, 1984 (black cart) version, year : 1.00, 1984 (orange cart) ; I have an orange cart with 1.01 myself author/company : Stephen D. Lawrow, Jim Dunion, OSS, Inc. available..... : 1982-1984 and up to 1994 package....... : assembler, editor, monitor, manual features...... : macros, source include Two pass 6502 assembler with integrated editor/monitor. Mac/65 is a direct descendant of the Atari Assembler/ Editor (via EASMD). Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC/65 ACTION!, Basic XE, Basic XL and Mac/65 were sold to Tom Harker at ICD. From another topic concerning the OSS Newsletters: Fall 1986 page 13: " OSS Newsletter Fall 1986 -------------- --------- A: Version 1.01 and 1.02 are fixed to produce the proper code (PS - 1.02 is the latest version). For update information see the update info sheet. " Further: " Mike distributed one of the disk based versions of SD and disk based MAC/65 with DDT as freeware. " Source: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/comp.sys.atari.8bit/wWxsqsmVcVI/z6W0y0U8eHEJ Does anyone have that freeware version, else one with DDT? Stephen is a really good soul: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/comp.sys.atari.8bit/wWxsqsmVcVI/z6W0y0U8eHEJ https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/comp.sys.atari.8bit/TVwmswjj2zI/Z_8TwOXPIMsJ MD5 checksum of the 1.02 rom version, the real McCoy! : b560d57e36c9a4b95e6fd296937148d5 Same for the 1.02 car version : a67098f4476c95c778396f7cd269a24e Further: Type 3: OSS '034M' 16 KB cartridge There are two types of OSS cartridges. Both are 16 KB and occupy 8 KB of address space between $A000 and $BFFF. The cartridge memory is divided into 4 banks, 4 KB each. One bank ('main') is always mapped to $B000-$BFFF. The other 3 banks are mapped to $A000-$AFFF. The current bank is selected by accessing a byte in $D500-$D5FF. Only 4 lowest bits of address are significant. The '034M' scheme is the more complicated one. The main bank is D. An access to: · $D5x0 or $D5x1 selects bank A. · $D5x3 or $D5x7 selects bank B. · $D5x4 or $D5x5 selects bank C. · $D5x2 or $D5x6 is not useful. It disables ROM (there're $FF bytes in $A000-$AFFF). · $D5x8-$D5xF disables whole cartridge (enables computer's memory in address space between $A000 and $BFFF). Type 15: OSS 'M091' 16 KB cartridge This is the simpler one of OSS schemes. It uses only A0 and A3 address lines: · A3=0, A0=0 - $A000-$AFFF: bank B, $B000-$BFFF: bank A · A3=0, A0=1 - $A000-$AFFF: bank D, $B000-$BFFF: bank A · A3=1, A0=0 - disable cartridge · A3=1, A0=1 - $A000-$AFFF: bank C, $B000-$BFFF: bank A Bugs: There is a bug in the MAC/65 cartridge which gives an error on a JSR or JMP to a zero page address. A temporary fix would be to use macros in the source code. As examples, try these: 1000 .MACRO @JSR 1010 .BYTE $20 1020 .WORD %1 1030 .ENDM 1040 .MACRO @JMP 1050 .BYTE $4C 1060 .WORD %1 1070 .ENDM To invoke the macro, type @JSR (or @JMP) in place of the JSR or JMP instruction, and the proper hex code will be generated. 3. I have been reading about all of the options for SIO and Cartridges. I have an SIO2PC-USB and it is great, but I have to switch back and forth between the Atari and my PC to change disks when needed. The carts have their own menus. I just had a thought. Could a cart be made with a cable connection to the SIO port so the combination could handle all file types and be totally controlled by the Atari? Pressing a button on the cart would bring up the menu to mount another file or load a .car file into the cart. Then exit back to your program to load the file or reset to run the .car. So, totally weird and not possible?
  4. Hi everyone I just got myself an Atari 800XL (PAL) in a trade and I'm so far enjoying it. I'm much more familiar with Sinclair and Commodore machines, so I'm really enjoying getting to know a new old computer. I've ordered an SIO2SD and plan on filling an SD card up with ATR images, but so far a lot of the PAL games I've found are on cassette or ROM cartridge. I know on the C64 you can extract the prg file from the tape image and put that on a disk image. Can this be done on the Ataris? I was thinking of making up a flash cart for the system to handle cartridge games, but it would be nice to do everything using disk images if possible. As I say, I'm new to the system, so assume I know next to nothing about it. I didn't know my SIO from my elbow this time last week.
  5. There haven't been many attempts at a mapped 3d engine/game for the Atari, and I wish to change that with an in-development project I call VePseu, the Very Pseudo 3d engine It works by going through the map and gathering a list of walls to draw, which are then rendered onto the screen. It (should be) very predictable and fast, but also limited (the max. viewing distance is 4 walls away). DASM has been marinating in my brain for about a year now, and I think I am finally prepared to take on a fully featured Atari 2600 program. It's fairly simple, and I hope it isn't absolute crap so you guys can use it. The GitHub page can be accessed here. UP to go forward, DOWN do go backward, LEFT to turn left, RIGHT to turn right Looking for ideas to make in the engine. I'm currently thinking of a zombie shooter and a Wolfenstein 3d "port", any other suggestions would be appreciated The demo for VePseu III.I.MMXIIX Rev. 0 can be downloaded here: vepseu.bin
  6. Hi guys, I've been an Atari fan since my early childhood and I have always had some ataris around me. Two years ago I started my adventure with Atari Lynx. The problem I encountered with the growing number of cartridges was the lack of a proper storage unit. Okay, I know I can hold them in Atari carrying bag or Songbird's one, but they can hold up only a small number of cartridges. So I decided to make one on my own. It can store 36 games, both carts and PCB. It's very durable and has a sweet logo on the front. I have made only a few so if you guys want I can sell some of them at a good price of only 20 Euros plus shipping I accept both PayPal and Bank drafts. PM me if interested
  7. On Hold I have this left over from my previous sales. It works great. This includes the box and piece of paper which I forgot what it said. I'm just trying to pay off my credit card and any kind of loose change is fine with me. PM me if you have any thoughts or questions. Thanks for looking! Saturn Action Replay 4M Plus $40 shipped ready to go!
  8. This is strictly a "just for fun" thread. I'll start with this GEM of an IS2 label. Post your best finds here, OEM, Homebrew, or Repro, we don't discriminate.

  14. Hey guys! I want a Sega Saturn. It has to be a model 1. There aren't many stores here that sell retro gaming things. I'm not too concerned about the glossy black finish. That's okay. I don't, however, want a system with DEEP scratches or broken pieces off of it. On Hold Back up and still looking and waiting. Found!
  15. I'm sure this has been discussed, but I couldn't find it addressed directly. If the AtGames Genesis console has a cartridge port. Why not the Flashback? It's not as if the Genesis is a true Sega machine, it uses emulation just as the Flashback does. Is the hardware needed to make an Atari cart port more expensive and/or scarce than what's needed to make a Genesis cart port? Is there a prevailing theory on this?
  16. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for taking apart cartridges that don't screw together? I have a Popeye cart that looks like someone buried it in the dirt for safe keeping, and I'd like to take it apart for a full cleaning.
  17. I was looking at past auctions on Ebay and saw one where somebody had sold an ICD SDX cartridge. It said that it also included "Cart Dumper 2.07 ROM Chip - You can pop this in replacing the SpartaDOS ROM and you have the ability to dump atari cartridge ROMS to a file." I've never heard of this rom/chip. Does anyone know anything about it and if so, has a copy of it?
  18. There are a handful of Jag carts that are so expensive that it's worth having other AA'ers take a look to authenticate or at least offer a second opinion on before making a purchase. That's what this thread is for! I figured it might be easier than starting a new thread for each and every game and instance. Enjoy.

One of the true "Holy Grails" of the Video Game Collecting World. Last one sold several years ago for $3400.00 plus an additional rare item (So, about 4.5k). An msn article also describes a Mr. Boston sale of $7200. Only around 5 (or so) are known to exist, so this may be the last time we see this game up for auction. This game was given to an actual employee of Glenmore Distilleries in Louisville Kentucky as Christmas Bonus. Google "Mr. Boston World's rarest Video games" and you will see how rare it really is. Tested and working - see pictures. No box included. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. My feedback is 100 percent. I do have another rarity seen in the pictures (but not included in this auction). The original Vectrex given to the same employee as a Christmas bonus. It says "Property of Glenmore Distilleries Company, Louisville, Kentucky." Please Inquire if you are interested. Other note... I bought this recently through a deal of a lifetime. Not going to sell for cheap--and not in a hurry to sell. One of the rarest and most sought after games by collectors. ALSO Interested in CASH +TRADE deals. Interested mostly in Very rare holy grail games. 23. Hello all, I work at a Disc Replay, I see games come in all the time, but these two games are causing me trouble. I have: Cleaned the pins with alcohol I have not: Tested with multi-meter Re-soldered chips Bought a donor cart for a possible switch? Cleaned with contact cleaner Knights of the Round and SMW + SMAS: http://i.imgur.com/l8b8pmW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WcX2fKG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hTulJc7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tTu0rHr.jpg Do you see something that I don't on these carts? Should I put more time and effort into getting these to work? Thanks.
  24. The new homebrewers cart has a 512k flash on board. In order to simplify things it would be nice to have only one configuration. What should it be?
  25. So I picked up a CIB Commodore 64,CIB disk drive, and CIB printer at a yard sale today for a price that will make you angry. Anyway It all looks so new I thought it was never used but then I saw this thing sticking out of the cart slot. After some intense googling I am coming up with nothing. When its in the slot and I turn on the 64 it says Express ready. Could this be some kind of third party ram expansion or something?
