  1. I picked up a 1581 on everyone's favorite auction site. It was sold as working several years ago when put into storage. Of course, it did not work when I got it. After reading a few posts about what happens to old 1581 drives I was inspired to grease the rails. Thus I disassembled it. This is what I found. Yes. A screw. Right through the fecken cable!! Plus, while the Amiga DD drive (FB-354) is a compatible assembly, I am almost certain the assembly in this drive is not the original as I have never seen one with the yellow drive activity LED attached. Ah, well. I fixed the cable, put some lithium grease on the rails, and voila! A working JiffyDOS 1581. PS: Rate my thumb.

  5. I connected with a guy who used to work for Atari and had a bunch of factory sealed Atari Lynx games from when they company went out of business. I bought one copy of everything he had left for my own collection, and put the rest on eBay to help subsidize the big purchase. Now the main game I'm still in search of for Lynx is Batman Returns. Feel free to check it out my auctions. 7. Hey all, I've been getting some real junk on ebay lately, and really I should have known better. It seems like a lot of items are full of ALL CAPS warnings like: UNTESTED, PARTS ONLY, NO WAY TO TEST, etc. Now I understand that stuff can be broken, and also that you may not have a way to test it, but I've discovered a little trick to check on the seller's honesty for untested items. At least, I hope it can help. When an auction has an UNTESTED item listed, they usually state that they don't have the power supply, TV connector, etc. so they can't try it out. A quick way to see how reasonable this is - check out the other items the person is selling. For instance, if you're buying an UNTESTED Atari 1050 drive, and the seller also has a power supply for it in a different auction, 800XL's complete with cables, and a LOT of other game/computer items that relate to your item, it's probably really not UNTESTED, it's BROKEN! A more likely scenario for UNTESTED is that the seller doesn't have anymore items that directly relate to that UNTESTED item. I hope this helps. Of course, there are exceptions - like two different auctions for related parts, but they are listed as estate/yard sale finds. Very few people (in my opinion) would be willing to sell something that can be easily tested, which would increase the sale price. Anyone have any other ideas on how to decrease your chance of not getting junk (other than not bidding!) ? Thanks!
  8. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 281903522386 I hope I posted that link correctly! I am selling an old Heath Zenith Microcomputer Learning System *gasps for air* Model 3400A. It's quite the long name. Thought I would drop by to show you guys! Last time I posted about my TRS-80 Model 1 and people seemed to like that. This isn't as retro, but still pretty retro! This one is in pretty excellent condition despite it's backstory (see ebay) Thanks guys! Same name on Ebay as on AtariAge [digitalXfacter]
  9. I found this on nintendoage: http://vintage.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?StartRow=1&catid=5&threadid=157265 Someone bought an Atari 800 Super Pacman "prototype" from Best Electronics and VGA graded it as an actual prototype. He got it back from VGA and is now attempting to sell the graded "prototype" on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-ATARI-800-XL-XE-SUPER-PAC-MAN-PROTOTYPE-GAME-CARTRIDGE-VGA-NG-CERTIFICATE-/141834394587 Pretty sure the "protos" Best sells are repros, but I wanted to hear it from the Atari experts first. If VGA indeed graded a repro as an authentic prototype, this is a serious blow to their credibility as a company.

  12. Hey All, I know that some have messaged requesting items and pics but I just ended up getting bad infection in my ear and fluid was in it like Whoa, lol. So that has put me behind on responses and efforts to return messages in which I apologize...I in no way consider myself a "time waster" or "flake" so have decided to revamp my Etsy Store Front which is way better to sell games because they only take 3% and I can sell them cheaper to all who would like them. Anyhow, I am in the process today through the next week of redesigning and restocking my entire Etsy Store with lots of interesting items for you guys. I have noticed quite a bit of traffic from this site already to my storefront so to those people thaks and to those who haven't stopped by, please do. If I start getting more consistent sales numbers then I will begin having promotions like giveaways and other cool stuff I have in mind. But, my point is to please check out my store at link posted below and save me a favorite so as I post new items you will be alerted to them and also I am going to post a coupon code this weekend for AtariAge members who visit my store to use for an exclusive discount....I will be updating this forum daily when I add new items like to start today I will be adding Intellivision games, Atari & a few others....Also I offer 100% satisfaction guarantee on anything I sell...ALWAYS (within 14 days of receiving you item) Last and most importantly, I would love any feedback about my store.....any likes, dislikes or requests of certain items you want me to list more of, thanks a lot guys (and gals) https://www.etsy.com/shop/TimelessToyStore (anything you see me selling on eBay that your interested in, please tell me and I can offer it to sell on etsy to you for better price seeing how fees are way less)
  13. So, as a kid I used to have Frogger 2. It was one of my favorite 2600 games. At one point I think I accidentally knocked it onto the floor and stepped on it in middle school. A few weeks ago I wanted to get another copy and was discouraged by how high it was priced on ebay. I ended up finding a copy that had a really crappy label for a lot cheaper than the other offerings. It had what looked like coffee stains, tears, and a name written on it in black sharpie. Sorry about the poor image quality, it is from the original auction photo. I restored it using a rubbing alcohol wipe to remove the name (don't try this on a regular printed label it will remove the ink from that... I used it on the metallic part) a silver sharpie to make all other corrections. I then cleaned it up nicely... check out the restored version.

  15. Hi! A friend of mine is trying to sell some Brazilian (Digiplay) overlays and manuals that she found at her house (this stuff belonged to her older brother back in the 1980s). She created an Ebay account to sell these items, so I'm sharing it here to give a hand. You can see all 10 auctions here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/rgruner7/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= She's offering interesting stuff like Brazilian manuals and overlays for The Power of He-Man, River Raid and Tennis (among other titles). Happy bidding and thanks for reading!

  18. Hello kindly people, & internet. I've been holding onto this gem since it was discovered in the basement, but really, textbooks need to be bought and my coffers are all dried up. Out of Control by the Avalon Hill Game company is up for auction, with a starting bid of $150 - a real bargain if the historical worth of this game has anything to say about it. It doesn't come with any box or manual, but the cartridge is in sturdy shape, with only a little sticker wear around the edge of the sticker on the cartridge. Here's a link to the auction page. Out of Control Hope this winds up in your collection! Happy bidding.
  19. Hello great gamers of the atariage forum! Letting you know that, in the attempt of cutting down on boxes, my game gear collection is going up piece by piece on ebay. I'll update this post with links as I get things up. I'll be posting what I understand are some of the rarer games in the collection (Shining Force, Sonic Labyrinth, Phantom 2040, Brahm Stoker's Dracula, Mortal Kombat's 1 & 2, & Itchy and Scratchy) All games come with at least the box (though, sadly, shining force's box is... well, not so shining anymore), and I'm still searching to see if I have a ziplock full of the game manuals.... Phantom 2040 (NIB) http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F271211913446%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMESELX%3AIT%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m1555.l2649
  20. this is pretty important. to whoever is about to bid on this item: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F251266792164%3Fru%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fsch%252Fi.html%253F_from%253DR40%2526_sacat%253D0%2526_nkw%253D251266792164%2526_rdc%253D1 its FAKE. and as proof, here is the picture from google images that this guy stole and cropped so that it only shows one of the carts: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Dmi7Txvz7iI/SkESNA4mBxI/AAAAAAAABLw/gdbT0fgIDr4/s400/Nintendo-World-Championship-Gold-Gray.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blog.pricecharting.com/2009/06/how-i-got-nintendo-world-championships.html&h=300&w=400&sz=21&tbnid=J7zH-Tr2eEej9M:&tbnh=95&tbnw=127&zoom=1&usg=__rmRER7RNFk6Llj14QJ5Nx-ZWya4=&docid=xN-WR4fEvf9poM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=fh99UafyKKi90AH334CYDQ&ved=0CEAQ9QEwAQ&dur=187 it even has the same green background and everything. and if you look at the ebay item, you see that random scribble of lines next to his name? that covering the shadow/smudge on the cart so that people dont recognize it from the actual picture. what a ripoff!
