I don't visit the ST forums often, so I hope this is the right place for this question.... What is the best DEDICATED Atari ST emulator out there? (Subjective I know) For years I was completely sold on Steem Engine, but a downgrade to Windows 10 seems to have slowed it down considerably (I also downgraded my PC's GPU when both my SLI cards died, which may have effect emulation speed as well (seems to have killed fullscreen anyway) Steem Engine is getting pretty old now, and the only other dedicated emulator I've tried and liked was WinSTon a gazillion years ago, so I'm wondering if there are any new emulation software out there that I may have missed.

Help! Patches are needed for Nintendo Gameboy and NES ROM's! Both "Rockman 8" and "Sonic 3D Blast 5" are only supported on the GEST Gameboy emulator. All other emulators are unable to play "Rickman 8" and "Sonic 3D Blast 5". I wish to play a ROM hack called "Supermario ASCII". I wish there was a patch to play this ROM on most NES emulators. Any info on how to create patches from scratch for ROM's would be appreciated. If anybody can patch those ROM's, I would be grateful.

I'm happy to announce that Beta 3 of TcpSerSharp is out and it fully supports connections coming from real or virtual COM ports. I've tested it with AppleWin with great results. There is no reason to expect any other COM enabled emulator not to work. To use TcpSerSharp with an emulator that supports direct connections to a COM port, follow these steps. Download TcpSerSharp from GitHub. Download com0com (a virtual serial port package). Run the com0com setup and allow it to create a com port pair. Rename the com ports created by com0com such that they follow "COMx" where x is the port numbers. Install TcpSerSharp Navigate to %ProgramData% -- then right click the TcpSerSharp folder and give write permissions to all users. In the %ProgramData%\TcpSerSharp folder, open config.xml in your favorite text editor. Add a modem to the modem pool that looks like this: <Modem device='rs232' speed='9600' port='COMy' /> COMy is the second com port in your com0com pair. Restart the TcpSerSharp service to get the new modem loaded. Start your emulator and load your favorite term. Be sure your emulator is connecting to the FIRST com port of your com0com pair. If you need any help, post your questions here!

I am starting work on a project I will call Stella's Cup of Java(Script) The Plan: Have it able to upload ROMS & the ability to fetch homebrews from here. I also want to have some ROMS pre-available that are homebrews ONLY! Resizable display that stays crisp Table of 2 control schemes to choose from. Easily ported to PC & Mobile using a hybrid dev. platform. However, this will not work if I do not have enough research on the A26 & the hardware it haves. Anyone who is knowledgeable in these areas is welcome to help this project go smoothly. I will update my blog more frequently then this thread, so check there for updates. The HTML so far is: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title> Stella's cup of Java(Script) </title> </head> <body> <p> <canvas id="A26_PF"></canvas> <canvas id="A26_P0"></canvas> <canvas id="A26_P1"></canvas> <canvas id="A26_MS"></canvas> <table> </table> </p> </body> </html> Anyone who wants to suggest changes can post HTML frags in the comments in this thread.

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding Atari800MacX emulator. There are games like Draconus and Blinky's Scary School that just work when changed the configuration to 130XE; but seems it's no use with others like Dropzone and Alleycat. Any idea on what to do in order to have all (or most) games working in this program? Regards, - Y -

Hello, AtariAge! I decided to get into bAtari BASIC programming after sprybug's wonderful Zippy the Porcupine, although I did have a small bit of experience with the language after watching Tinkernut's video on it. My first full game with it is called "Wal-Rush!" This is actually my port of my other original game, Wal-Rush! on Scratch (written for a contest over at CodeWalrus. I am still waiting for the results, if anyone wants to ask. The controls in this one are LEFT and RIGHT to move, and FIRE to fly! You get 1 point every so often as you fly, and you can eat the fish for 10 points. Don't crash into the spikey mines, or else you EXPLODE! (I am planning to add an invincibility powerup like my original game, and that is coming up!) I used the amazing Titlescreen Kernel to make the titlescreen, but other than that, this game is written in pure bAtari BASIC (perhaps inefficiently at times; please, tell me if I'm coding inefficiently.) All of the code is REMed, so if you want to modify it, I think you could understand the code. What I would really like is a sound engine so I can put in sound effects, and maybe a jingle that plays throughout the game. If anyone can tell me how to do that, that would be swell! Here is a video of the gameplay, as this game stands. Tell me what you think so far! Wal Rush A2600.zip

I'm having a problem. I'm using the Win994a emulator & am attempting to put together the Demon Attack Cart. But this site, http://tigameshelf.net/asm.htm Game is in the middle of page as you scroll down It only gives a .bin file but it will not allow me to attach it to the emulator or convert it to a cart format. & when I look on theoldcomputer.com http://www.theoldcom...9-4A/Cartridges The images it gives me don't make much sense. Can anyone figure out how this is supposed to be arranged ? I need this for a video & any help would be greatly appreciated. Any reccomendations for emulators, sites, or instructions on how to create the cart. I'm lost now. 0_0 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aight so please excuse the ignorant question, but I've been trying to get a game I played as a kid on my PC. I have Windows7 (possibly 10 soon) and have tried STEEM (including the SSE version), Hatari, and one other emulator (name escapes me). When I run Mousetrap, it runs through the preview sequence of a few seconds of each level, but I can never seem to assume control of the game to start playing. I can play at least another game (Lotus racing) on STEEM, but can't get Mousetrap to respond to any key commands (despite messing with the joystick setup multiple times). I KNOW this worked at some point because I emulated the game on an old Pentium circa 2005 - I can't figure out why I can't get this to work now. Anyone have any ideas? Is it the ROM, is there some config setting I'm screwing up...what's the deal? Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, there's a rather nice online TI emulator here: http://www.ti99iuc.it/web/index.php?pageid=165&pagina=sala_giochi&sezione=5 Not a whole lot of games yet, but everything is nicely set up.

The IBM 5100 and 5110 were IBM's first "portable" computers. They had interpreters of the machine languages of IBM's much bigger machines System/3 and System/360 in their ROMs, and so this small computer could execute (slightly adapted) BASIC and APL language implementations of the large machines. I ported Christian Corti's great IBM 5110 emulator to JavaScript, so you can work with an emulated IBM 5110 directly in your (HTML5-capable) web browser. Disk and tape support are still to be done, and I could not test it with a US keyboard layout. I nonetheless wanted to share the WIP version to give you a first impression. If someone succeeded to dump IBM 5110 tapes or disks and could provide an image file, this would be great for further testing. Those who are interested, can try out the emulator and write some small BASIC or APL programs at http://members.aon.at/nkehrer Greetings Norbert

Sorry for my poor english. Sound Device Emulator Emulator You can download source code from my blog. Q. Stella is good, why should i need to check yours? A. Stella is good but a bit too complicated. My emulator has at least 3 advantages(and a lot of weak points). 1. Only single file. 2. No need to compile. 3. Python is much easier to use and debug than C in most cases. Although my emulator is slow and buggy, it really works on some games. If you are interested in writing an emulator, maybe it's a little useful for you. Note that the success version 1 is more easy to read because it has classes, but not single file and has no sound.

I have a 7800 with a small collection of games, but I've been looking at getting some compilations for my Xbox 360 like Atari Anthology and Midway Arcade Treasures. Since its not feasible to actually get all of those physical arcades, which would you prefer? Playing the true arcade versions on a 360 or Playstation with those controllers, or sticking to the ports for the 7800, but you can use the joystick, paddles, or trak ball? I think the graphics and sound of the arcade versions are what make the compilations attractive, but there's just something better about using the Atari controllers. Unless there's a way to use Atari controllers on an Xbox lol Thoughts?

Haven't spent much time of late looking at emulation sites, but just checked out my all-time favorite emulation news site for the first time in years (EmuFrance) and saw that Marat Fayzullin has made a number of updates to ColEm. In the latest version released in October, he has begun to add ADAM Computer emulation! Here is the link: http://fms.komkon.org/ColEm/

Its been a little while since the last update. When can one expect Prosystem 1.4 to be out? If it does come soon, I hope it has light gun support as well as at least marginal atari 2600 backwards compatibility, and slightly better sound emulation on some games, like some POKEY tunes on Ballblazer, as well as the music in Super Skateboardin'. What happened to the Prosystem creator anyway? Is he still active, or is he on hiatus for now?
