With MGC being about 3 months away, figured now is the best time to send out my feelers for helpers for Jagfest section there. I am hoping to make it this year to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of this event that started in chicago on july 12th,1997(working on getting my license to drive instead of taking megabus or relying on going with others) if anybody is interested in helping let me know. Side note: we also looking for some help on the section for VGS in July as well while we can't do much with space limits, but any help with jagfst section is good. so let me know about that as well.

Hi all, I bought this s-video cable for my Atari Jaguar and did a fairly quick test with Doom on one of my TV's. What am I supposed to expect? I had to change the contrast on my TV since I could barely see anything on Doom. Then it was fine and it did look better. How dark is Doom supposed to be? The red was bleeding off a little bit. Is there a better s-video cable than this or is this the best one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/171281346550?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 cheers, Yan

Does Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure contain a VCS/2600 Emulator to run the Atari 2600 version of Pitfall? I don't think so. I would like to be wrong. Over the years Activision has managed to port Pitfall fairly faithfully from the Atari 2600, Atari computers, Intellivision, all while looking about the same. They took a slight divergence with the ColecoVision, but all this to say Activision has had the ability to port their games and keep the same look and feel. So to me it was not surprising that they could do it yet again with the Atari Jaguar. And that's all fine and good, but what I am bringing to this age old debate/mystery? Since this is practically hexediting/emulation month for me (sprite hacking in past months) I thought I would look for the hex values of the original 2600 Pitfall. Now previously I had said on the VirtualVCS thread that I looked for these values in the Jaguar Pitfall image and did not find them. Then I realized that the Jaguar cartridge image was in a compressed format. At one time I was guided to use a program called Multi Ripper or "mrip260.zip" as it can be found on the internet for unpacking a compression format that Imagitec tends to use from the Rob Nothern Computing or RNC for short. The multiripper can look for these files and it spits out... a bunch a files with the .RNC extension. This worked really well in breaking down Bubsy: Fractured Furry Tales into graphics, map, music, and other files, though I had to pull (with help) the file directory to rename most of those files. Still have some to identify or file, but found like 90% that way. So I did the same to Pitfall tonight and looked for the opening "78D8 A200" characters of 2600 Pitfall throughout all the RNC files that Jag Pitfall spit out annnnddd... no match. But this might not be the end. As you can see in the picture above there is the RNC in the text portion, leading me to wonder if this needs to be further unpacked? But tonight I took it through at least one level of compression and found nothing so far. (File contains the unpacked files I looked through if others want to do more digging and comparison.) Ok, we have a Rarity guide covering the Games for the Atari systems, but what about the systems themselves, and for the accessories, like the controllers, keyboard add ons, the video jogger mat, etc.? has anyone thought about constructing a rarity guide around the accessories and hardware? I know it might be a bit more difficult, but I think we should have a "Atari Hardware & accessories Value guide". I mean, wouldn't you like to know how rare that All-Black 2600 JR is, or if you have a super rare Controller? what about your amiga joyboard? And how rare is that "Sunnyvale Heavy sixer"? I know we have talked alot about how rare a console or controller is, but wouldn't it be nice to have it registered and numbered on a scale like we do with the games? I know I would!

Just a quick little Jaguar story from a couple weeks back... I was hosting a stall at PlayersExpo (a gaming convention of medium scale here in Ireland!) for the game shop I work in. We were basically there to exhibit our "console timeline" - 35ish consoles, VCS to Wii U- and to raise awareness for our shop in Dublin. John Romero, the man who brought us DOOM and Quake happened upon our stall and I was quick to leap at the chance to talk Jag (I always am). I let him know that Jag Doom is probably my favorite version, I ended up learning that the Jag version is the one he and his team had worked on specifically, and while he thought it was "cool" that I liked it, I'm not too sure he thought the Jag was as cool as I obviously do. He seemed less than excited to be in it's prescence anyway... Anyhoo he agreed to be in a photo with the Jag, the Jag CD and I, and I now have one more "Jag-Caper" to add to my practically non-existent bank of cool Jaguar-related stories... I wish I'd asked him more about his dealings with Atari at the time but I had to prevent a bunch of kids from potentially destroying the Virtual Boy Arrrgggh. Apparently he's a local so maybe we'll cross paths again soon... Let it be known that we sold exactly one Jaguar and copy of DOOM thanks to that plug from Mr. Romero. Thanks dude.

Hey Guys, LONG time reader, first time poster here. I work in a classic game shop here in Dublin, Ireland. My job mainly entails repairing and refurbishing old consoles etc, anything from SNES to Neo Geo, Vectrex to Virtual Boy. I seem to have a knack at fixing these things, decent enough to stay in the job anyway But I find myself stumped... I recently acquired a Jaguar CD to sit atop my beloved Jag. It's probably my favourite console (GameCube and VCS competing), so I was chuffed to find a working unit for a somewhat-decent price. The issue is, it worked on arrival. But ever since, all I've been getting is the infamous Red Screen. I figured out it that this means a connection problem between the console and CD drive, so I disassembled the unit and cleaned the pins, as well as the cartridge slot on the Jaguar itself. I also repeated this inside the CD Unit, where the connector board meets the main board. Everything seems to be completely spotless... and nothing. Still the red screen. The laser will jump slightly, but nothing more. So I cleaned the board, made sure everything was sitting nice and flush in the case. I've heard of the placement of internal components such as the RF shielding causing poor the unit to make an improper connection but this doesn't seem to be the case here. As I said, the unit DID work at first, and has been well treated in my possession. I really love the Jaguar and would love even more if I could get my CD unit working. Help me Atariage, You're my only hope!

Over in the Doom community, an effort is underway to port Jaguar Doom to the PC platform. Because, why not? https://www.doomworld.com/vb/source-ports/91624-calico/ Screenshots: However, some rendering issues have popped up as of late. Stuff like this. If you are interested and want to see what is done so far, or are willing to help in any way, here is the Github repository: https://github.com/team-eternity/calico-doom

I purchased an S-Video cable from a UK seller on ebay. He thought it would work fine. It displays only in black and white and no sound. I found a thread on your forums from Google search, but it was really old which is why I'm starting a new one. In that conversation people were talking about faulty boards, soldering fixes etc, but also someone pointed out that a UK cord wouldn't work properly on NTSC system. Is that all it is? Wrong S-Video cable? If so do you all know where I can pick up an NTSC Jaguar S-Video cable?

Dear all, please check out a recent, truthful and insightful interview with Atari Jaguar legend B.J. West: http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/bj-west/ I have also recorded a special Atari Jaguar CD podcast for Arcade Attack where I discuss the ill-fated peripheral, why it failed and whether Black Ice/White Noise could have helped save the Jaguar and even Atari! Please give it a listen if you get a chance: http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podcast-july-2-2017/ Kind Regards @Arcade_Adriano

I have an Atari Jaguar, but lost the power adapter a long time ago. I've seen people saying the first-gen Genesis power adapter works for the Jaguar, but what about the MK-1602-1 adapter? It's intended for the first-gen Genesis, which requires 9V and 1.2A, but the adapter is 10V and 1.2A. I don't know why they made it 1 volt more, but it's meant for a system that requires 9V, so would it work for the Jaguar? From pictures people have posted, it looks like the same company might have made the same power adapter for multiple companies.

Jaguar red screened, then sometimes could turn on, now not at all
s0s posted a topic in Atari Jaguar
I tried the MK-1602-1 Genesis power adapter on my Jaguar, which worked at first. My Jaguar turned on, even though it red screened, but when I kept trying different games in it to see if it would work, it started not turning on sometimes. I had to try turning it on a few times before it came on, and now it doesn't turn on at all, no matter what game is in it. What could cause that? I'll take it apart and look at it, but I wanted to ask experienced Jaguar hackers here first, what I should look for. If it's relevenant: One thing I noticed during the red screens was that when I pressed buttons on the controller, it caused interference on the tv. I was using a SNES/Genesis RF adapter. I just now thought of this seconds before posting the topic, but I checked the voltage of the power adapter, and although it says it's 10V, my multimeter is showing 13.5V! This seems WAY out of any sensible tolerance range, unless their tolerance is +/- 35% LOL! Anyway, I just found a topic saying that a good cartridge connection is required for the system to power on, so I'll try that, but like I said, it worked, then sometimes worked, now doesn't work. Edit: Great news, it was just a case of dirty cartridges!- 3 replies

I've been working through my closet, selling off my old video game stuff that I don't look at or hook up to play anymore for the last several weeks on ebay and I'm coming up to my Jaguar collection, which is perhaps the jewel of my gaming collection. Jaguar didn't have a very large catalog, so 15 years ago I was quite serious about trying to collect every single game, and got quite close. There's a few rarities I know I'm missing (Air Cars comes to mind) but I have a copy of almost every game and some of the earlier demos, including really special ones like the BattleSpheres, Protectors, and Scatboxes. I know about how much money it took about 15 years ago and so fully expect to make my money back. What I'm not sure is how much. I would greatly prefer to sell this all as one set, because its easier to sell one big lot than piecemeal and because I'll feel like my effort to collect all of it will be retained by the next owner. (Great opportunity to go from zero to hero in one purchase!) Although if no one makes a serious offer (i.e., exceeding my original investment) I will instead consider breaking it up and selling the rares to those that want them with the rest going to ebay. Note that none of this has been tested in 14 or 15 years, but I intend to test everything over the next week or so. Send me a private message if you're interested in making an offer. I'd very much like to give a serious collector first shot at these because I suspect one of you reading this would appreciate it more than the average ebay bidder. Even if you're not interested but have an idea about how much someone should pay for all of this, I would appreciate that, too. Should no one step up here I'll sell it on ebay and would appreciate some insight into current value. I realize I don't have any history here but to prove this is a legit sale see the picture below or checkout my ongoing ebay game sales. I hope these are enough to prove I'm not a fake. I am based in USA. I can ship internationally. Be aware that a set this large (3 full sized boxes) is going to be quite large and heavy. PayPal is an accepted form of payment for me, but given the large value of this set I would happily take a check or postal money order. I also have a Jaguar and Jaguar CD in boxes that aren't pictured. I figured those were regular fare and might just go to ebay where the common fish can fight over them. Hiya! So I'm looking for a functional Atari Jaguar Pro Controller... don't need the box or anything intended for display. I'm looking to spend about $150. I know that's somewhat less than ebay prices on them lately, but that's what I have for a budget and I don't need a box, so I thought I'd give this a try. PM or reply if you got one for sale... or if you'd like to trade instead, let me know what your are looking for, like what system you are interested in or something. I have some unusual stuff for a variety of consoles anywhere between 2600 and Wii, and while my collection is not exactly extensive, whatever you are looking for might be something I happen to have... who knows? -CaptainBreakout

I've had my eye on a Jaguar for a good year or so, long enough that it wouldn't be an impulse purchase, and the misses finally gave me the go ahead to take the plunge on it so it's time for a Wanted thread I think! What I'm looking for is a nice condition Atari Jaguar system, and by "nice" I mean no scratches on the top of the system and all 4 rubber feet on the bottom intact. Price wise I'm looking to spend about $180 for a good looking system with an original power supply, equally nice condition controller, composite video cables, and an inexpensive decent quality game or two included (Iron Soldier or Cybermorph, Ruiner Pinball, Zoop, etc). I don't mind buying a system without composite video cables though, I'd just have to lower my offer by $30 since I would need to buy the composite cables separately. I could also add in a little extra for the inclusion of a pricier game that's high up on my wants list like Alien vs. Predator, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or Raiden. Thank you for taking the time to view my wanted ad and feel free to shoot me a PM if you happen to have a Jaguar in the condition I'm looking for and are interested in selling.
