  1. Hello guys The English version of paper supplement to ABBUC Magazin 154 is now available for download for members of the ABBUC. www.abbuc.de --> "Mitglieder" --> "Downloadbereich" --> "ABBUC Magazine" Sincerely Mathy
  2. Hello guys ABBUC magazine #151 is available for download for all members of the ABBUC. The paper supplement in German and English version and the ATRs can be found in the download section of the ABBUC site. "Mitglieder" --> "Downloadbereich" --> "ABBUC Magazine" --> ... Sincerely Mathy
  3. Hi everyone, I've recently launched a new gaming magazine, and I think it's something that many of you would enjoy. It's A5 size, fifty pages, full colour and finished to a high quality. Content is focussed strongly around indie games and developers, whilst big titles are also included and reviewed. We aim to cover all systems, past, present and future. This will definitely be a space for reviewing and featuring new ATARI games. Stylistically it takes influence from many of the greats that I grew up with: Mean Machines, Nintendo Power, EGM etc coupled together in a modern and sleek format. Strong focus was given to both the cost of the magazine and on shipping fee's. I know the world is a difficult place for all of us right now. The smaller size of the magazine means that it can be shipped globally in just 3-7 working days, and at excellent rates. The magazines are also dispatched in an anti-bend cardboard sleeve, ensuring they are in excellent condition when they arrive. The magazine is available in physical print and digital PDF. There is also a sample you can download for FREE, if you wish to try before you buy. The magazine is getting really positive feedback from the community this far, and I would love it if you checked it out, or just helped to spread the word. Thanks in advance Time Extension feature: https://www.timeextension.com/news/2022/11/system-gamer-is-a-fanzine-for-the-21st-century Store: https://coolmagazine.uk/collections/all

  5. Hello guys The PDFs of the Englisch versions of the paper supplement to the ABBUC Magazines 141 and 143 are now available to ABBUC members on the ABBUC website. The paper supplement to magazine 146 already was. (The disk/ATR is the magazine, the (PDF of the) paper supplement is just that, a supplement) On the site, go to Mitglieder -> Downloadbereich -> Download Magazine Sincerely Mathy
  6. What are your top 10 favorite Atari BASIC games from magazine listings? This can include games that use machine language subroutines. If you can include what magazine each game came from, that would be helpful too.
  7. Yeah so... This month's Retro Gamer. 98 pages. 64 pages if you exclude ads and filler. Hmmm. As a subscriber I don't like these no text covers. I am assuming they think they are doing something creative and arty, but it just comes across as pretentious. So in a couple of years when I want to take out my old RGs and have a good read, like I do with my The Ones, C&VGs and Zapp64s I have to just guess what is in the fucking magazine. Marvellous! I think they want us all to go out and buy a second copy. I'd prefer a copy like the punter in the street has. They are better designed. Now I come to think, they probably do this as it buys time just to bang a one image down over the logo. This month's cover star is a disassembled SNES in all its blueprint 'glory'. Which seems very familiar as they have done that before. Maybe a Megadrive? Bloody pretentiousness. No TMR (Jason Kelk). My favourite section (by far). Home Brew / Public Domain. Well put together and every page packed. Even manages to feature profiles of the developers, jam competitions and all sorts. Sadly TMR has been very sick. Get well Jason! Thankfully rather than just bung in some old bollocks about the Amstrad winning the 8bit war as they did the first month, they have not put anything there. I miss TMR. I miss him answering my bloody dumb coding questions and I miss his brilliant contribution to this ailing mag. For some reason some time ago Jason got demoted from the 'Loading...' page wall of sketch images. Maybe he told Darran what a cushy number he is on. No wonder he looks so smug. Too many two page filler screenshots with Darran Jones' boat staring out at me. Don't get me wrong, I don't not like him. He might be a nice man. A very nice man. A very very nice man. I've never met him, but I tell you this! after 170+ mags and 15+ years of seeing him gazing glassily out at me from the pages of his magazine, I could probably recognise him in any crowd. One issue had so many pictures of him, his family (I assume) and assorted mates and colleagues I thought I had not bought a copy of Retro Gamer magazine at all, but one of his family's photo albums by mistake. Bloody Ian Lee. I hate him. I don't know why. It is irrational. I have never met or spoken to him. Got an air of the 'bluffer' / 'chancer' about him. Annoying tv rent-a-nodding-dog. Nick Thorpe seems to still be doing the business. I've not read his SNES piece yet, but I have always enjoyed his stuff in the past. No contribution from Graeme Mason this month, so there is that at least. The man who thought Mayhem in Monsterland was a home-brew. Lure of the Temptress is one I will get stuck into but outside of that and the aforementioned SNES section... ? Also going to read the section on Joe Blade 4. JB was one of my favourites. I know it is very simple but I enjoy it none-the-less. David Jones's Knight Tyme gets a feature. I spoke to him once about his work, seems like a very nice bloke so I'll be devouring that section. Magazine just seems to be drifting... This month there is some stuff for me (4 bits). Last couple of months very little. I don't read them cover to cover like I used to. None of the sections have not been featured in other magazines. I suppose there is nothing more retro than recycling features from old magazines and I don't have a problem with that, but occasionally it feels like they're just 'phoning it in.' I've been a subscriber for many years, on and off, and I got every issue of the original magazine, before it was rebooted, with better layout and better quality paper, granted, so I've earnt my right to say my bit, but maybe I will stop now. Subscribing that is. I don't know. They had that clown Kizza/The Laird/* Insert all known socks here * working on the mag for years. He was getting paid by them. He knows nothing. How can I trust a magazine that published anything that arsehole put together ? Is this a rant ? Am I wrong ? What do others think of Retro Gamer these days?
  8. Finally! Magazine 141 is now available as an completely english PDF in the download section for ABBUC members. Please excuse the long wait. Thanks to the help of @luckybuck, we now established a workflow to create the english version. Magazine 142 PDF in english will hopefully be available at the same time, when the printed magazine arrives at the first members. We also now work on finishing the english version of 139 and 140. If you are a member, but can´t access the member download area, please send me a message. You need to have a log in at the ABBUC website to which I manually have to grant the corresponding rights to.
  9. I am seeking a few of the earliest Atari 8bit ANALOG magazines to finish my collection. If You have any extras of issues 3 and 7 let me know. Thanks!!

  12. Hi all, I´ve sent the ABBUC magazine 140 to the members, and the first copies already appeared, but only in Germany. International delivery might take longer, so please stay tuned. But to not make you wait too long, you can download the atr-images of the disk and the german PDF of the printed issue at the members section of the ABBUC website. I´m preparing an english PDF too, but for the time being you could at least use copy&paste to have the german pdf translated with an online service. If you are a member and can´t access the member section with the downloads, please send a message with your name to me. Access has to be be given manually one time, but for future log ins no further action is needed. Stay healthy!
  13. ABBUC members receive the magazine on a floppy disk four times a year. Beside "official" texts (protocols, dates etc.) it always contains software of all kind. This software shall preferably be created by ABBUC members, but actually, we sometimes had to search the internet for software to not deliver an empty disc. So this call is for EVERYBODY: If you have created ANY software for the Atari 8 Bit computer, which has not been released yet, please consider having it published on the ABBUC magazine. This can be anything: A game, a demo, an update, an image, a little BASIC program, a WIP of something (demo like)... you name it: anything! It can also be your first BASIC program you´ve created back in the days and never showed off. Why not release it and get some feedback? Please just also send a small text which describes you and the program. If you have anything, that you want to be released with the next magazine, please contact CharlieChaplin, who creates the actual disk images for the magazines, and/or me. If we come to the lucky situation, that the disk is full (we always deliver one disc, two-sided, ED) he will inform me and we decide, which software we release on the current issue, and what we keep for one of the following issues. Keep on coding!
  14. Atari klub - spolek příznivců historické výpočetní techniky (Association of Historical Computing Enthusiasts), announces FLOP 63, the first issue of the magazine published in 2019. To get more information on the magazine, and to download issue 63, visit FLOP's website. Content is available in both Czech and English. Highlights of FLOP 63 Texts: Timeline of Atari History Interview with Pavel Tišnovský Atari anniversaries in 2019 Games: Fruity Pete, a brand new game from Fandal & Akio Tenshi
  15. It looks like the guys at Cracked decided to jump on the arcade craze like everybody else. I haven't been able to find any information on this particular issue and it seems to be fairly rare with the only one on Ebay being listed at $100 and with no sold listings. Here are scans of the magazine for all to enjoy. I'll have a download link to higher quality scans HERE

  18. I'd half scanned these, when I did a search online and found they were available. Then I noticed that my issue three had a correction slip inside that the others were missing. 20. A little news about Excel magazine: I now have distributors for the magazine in several countries so a batch of each new issue will be mailed to each distributor which will cost me pretty much the same per issue as mailing it out to a UK address. The magazine will then be mailed out locally in each country, so the postage per issue for overseas orders is now only £2. A lot of people were put off buying the magazine due to the postage costs but hopefully this will attract more readers... From issue #3, which is out on October 1st, the magazine will have an increased page count too. Issue #3 is now available to pre-order... Robert excel-retro-mag.co.uk
  21. Hello to all Atari 8-bitters If you find the postage costs of mailing out the printed magazine to your part of the world too expensive, I have been pondering on the idea of making the magazine available as a digital download, i.e. a PDF file available from the website @ £1 per issue. Good idea... or crazy talk...?
  22. I had a good find at Goodwill yesterday in Great Lakes Atari Digest newsletters from the late 80's and early 90's. This was a cool piece of history as an Atari fan. I've messaged some people on Facebook who share the names with the authors of some of the articles in hopes of finding some of them. Atari STs seem to get talked about a lot in these. Did anyone ever write or subscribe to one of these?
  23. Hi All, In the second issue of K-Power magazine was published basic listing of a known song of Joey Ramone called Slug I have fixed the OCR from archive.org, but still there are some bugs that i cannot find (besides there is some assembler that probably has to be reviewed as well). 24. For those interested, I am in the process of creating a full archive of the Atari ST Review (UK) magazines. There were 35 issues and I could not find them on the Internet. I have purchased most issues and I am scanning and uploading them as PDF files available on my website: http://www.chillichai.com/atari-st-review Enjoy.
