  1. I just found this centipede cartridge online and all I could find about it in the internet is that it was a missprint produced in 1985 by Atari. I would like to know who else has this cartridge and some estimate of how rare it may be, given that there is no type of information documented in atariboxed.
  2. i've heard all about flag capture atari corp 1986 picture label the flag capture. atariage says its a 5, but i've heard it is super rare. i've seen this before on atariage. just wanting to know how rare it is. google said only 5 exist now. am i wrong? what are your thoughts
  3. It feels nice to find two rarity 9 carts out in the wild in my sorroundings! Enjoy the pic.
  4. I have recently acquired an atari 2600 in box for 20 dollars.the box says "PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY NOT FOR RESALE" on the front and sides. I've also noticed that on the bottom of the system it says "promotional use only not for resale". And the switches seem to be less shiny than the regular 4 switch model. Does anybody know how many units were made of this, and how people still have these models to sell and keep?
  5. What I mean is, how is a console that should have greater supply than demand commanding such prices and thought of as "scarce." This could apply to anything Jaguar related. -Consoles -Jag CD's -Game -Accessories There were 200kish consoles produces, 20k jag cds, thousands of copies of each game. Realistically there are a few hundred, maybe a few thousand (tops) active Jaguar gamers and collectors out there. So my questions is, is the actual scarcity (i.e. prices) manufactured (by greedy hoarder types), or are jaguar and jaguar related items actually hard to come by (i.e. many have been thrown away, are stored in basements by people who don't realize they have them, production numbers lower than actually thought, etc. etc.) Curious to hear your thoughts on this. My take is that it's manufactured as part of the retro gaming craze right now and there is actually plenty of Jaguar consoles, Jag CD's and games for anyone who wants them if the price wasn't so high due to speculation.
  6. Hey guys, been a while. Shouldn't waterworld be a ten, smurfs save the day an 9, and ghost manor a 8? These games are extremely hard to find and are worth alot as well being rare. Another example is pengo 8 and shootin gallery 8 and artillary duel/ghost manor 8 let me know about this -Alterdimension
  7. So, I posted on this elsewhere, but my wife gave me Mega Man (the original cart) for Valentine's Day. I'd never had it as a kid, or really even played it -- 2 and 3 were always more inviting to a kid without an NES who had to make due with limited playtime. Anyway, I had a good run later in the afternoon, and I ended up beating the game and (as a self-described "casual gamer") feeling pretty chuffed about it. I appreciated her gift, having put off buying it myself because of the high price tag it carries, so it was extra-satisfying to conquer. Also, to sorta "get my use out of" the actual cart, as I'm primarily an Everdrive user. So then I got to wondering... why is it such a pricey cart? I know the story. That it was initially a commercial dud in the US, but due to rentals and word-of-mouth it turned into a "sleeper hit" good enough to warrant a sequel in the developers' spare time at work. But surely if there were enough copies to rent, pass around, and generally talk about, why does it average $75 online (right now in February 2016, future historians) as opposed to Contra's $35 or even cult hits like River City Ransom's $25 or Clash At Demonhead's $15 price tags? Those must surely have had smaller print runs right? Most sources say that Mega Man sold "enough" for Capcom to validate a sequel, so if it was good enough to be "on the fence", it couldn't have been a total disaster, or a super-low-pressing one-off rarity like Little Samson (or even some of the later Mega Man sequels), right? OR... am I just misjudging how many there really are? Wouldn't they have pressed up another few batches after the sequels took off? Wikipedia mentions a September 1991 re-release (though I don't have the 9/91 issue of GamePro to verify!). How would one distinguish these from a "first pressing"? Online searches are turning up nothing for me. Are those cited "good enough" sales that justified the sequel really the Japanese numbers bumping up the average and there *really was* a super-limited supply in the US? Or is it just one of those weird market quirks -- a perfect storm of "good story", "beloved franchise", and a dash of rarity? I suppose it DID spawn the whole Mega Man universe. Oooooh, and that cover art. These are the things that keep me up at night, sorry. It's 5AM here now. This is just really food for discussion on the first Mega Man game. Though, does anyone have any other thoughts on the "classic 6" NES games? I've tried some of the spin-off series and they weren't my thing - no real interest. Haven't gotten around to getting MM9 or MM10 yet though... I suppose those should be next on my list.
  8. Well, after what seems like an eternity searching for one to add to the collection (both my Atari Lynx as well as Gauntlet collections), i come home yesterday to find the Ridged Gauntlet cart waiting for me in my mailbox! My question is: how many collector's here have this version, or have come across this? The reason being that i know there's a few people who want one, and none of my Lynx collection friends locally have one or even seen one! The Rarity Guide for the Flat and Ridged carts has them between R4-5 (Flat cart variants) and all R5 for Ridged variants (except for Blue Lightning which is R6). Now i have seen all the Flat and Ridged carts available (except for Gauntlet) come up often and cheaply, but not Gauntlet. In fact, this was only the second Ridged Gauntlet cart i have seen on eBay in a looooong time (first was a few months ago in the UK in a big bundle but seller did not want to split). The cart was listed (literally just a few minutes before i searched again for Atari Lynx ) at Buy It Now for €22 (US $25.35) from Spain. So, who here has (or had) one, how much did you get it for, and is it time to upgrade the Rarity on this one (or is it just me )? Cheers!
  9. Hi guys, roaming village idiot in need of advice I managed to find - if that's the right word - some rare games. I say find, theyre a find if you guys can help me verify the authenticity. I might just be being paranoid but is there such a thing as a pirate copy of things like Spiker? I'm just beginning to dip into this level of rarity, throw anything Nintendo at me and Ill spot the tiniest flaw at 100 yards blindfold on a galloping horse at midnight~but the Intellivision is a new world to me. Anyway, much excitement boiling in me I went to take a peek at a few games a collector is offering. Now among his collection were games like Pole position, body slam, slap shot, super pro skiing, super pro decathlon and the REAL rarities,a Spiker & Mud Buggies. To me they all looked much of a muchness but up close the boxes looked a different texture on the card. Is this just a normal variation? The Spiker & Super Pro decathlon were almost like a canvas finish if you get my drift, kinda like a fine cross hatching on the surface. I noticed other boxes were smoother . The SPDecathlon was pretty rough but the Spiker near mint. The Mud Buggies was also a bit rough too and had the same sort of finish. All looked to 'have age' .The instructions inside were a bit coloured on the outside folds ,the internal folded sections being much whiter as you'd often find. The carts - here Im struggling! On the rear of 'standard' Intellivision games I see on some ~ Mattel 1979 and copyright Mattel etc yet on others just a plain white label on the cart and nothing on the rear. Is this again standard ? These carts were all plain on the rears . Among my other collecting obsessions Im stumbling on Intellivision stuff, happily from some Nintendo collectors Ive dealt with for years, but where I can talk with authority on Nintendo stuff Im flamin' struggling on Intv gear. Im probably missing bargains & paying too much for other bits but in a grim kinda way its a perverse part of the appeal. Not that I'd be excited to have missed a Congo Bongo at £50 of course but Im enjoying the learning curve-steep as it's proving to be. I didn't expect to find such rarity here in the UK given worldwide mythology surrounding such games nowadays but Im also concerned and don't want to be a complete plum and rush in and buy a flippin' pirate game. Any tips? These games aren't going anywhere as the chap owes me a few £hundred for some gear I sourced him so he's 'in my pocket' (I wish!) Anyway I just had to ask,I was a bit loathe to start asking to take pics as I had forgotten my camera and even phone so it'd have been taking the Michael to ask to borrow his camera but I can try to get some tomorrow or the day after. Its burning my butt knowing there are titles like that round the corner,OK he's not giving them away but if theyre genuine hopefully theyre a good buy at UK (daylight robbery) prices! Its hard to find anything definitive as to what I should be paying for a Mud Buggies or Spiker (or pro decathlon) so again any help would be very much appreciated!!! Its half past stupid o'clock here in the UK now so Ill check in tomorrow and see if I can pop some pics up if I can get time to go chase the guy down for a few minutes among the stupid work stuff that blights my life

  11. 1st up hi from the UK guys !! Absolute newb so be gentle, hopefully Ill be able to pic the correct spots to post but let me know if there's somewhere more appropriate. Anyhoo...........Im an old geezer from back in the day,old enough to remember waiting excitedly for new releases for the Intv heh heh -NOT that I ever had the money to buy them but in common with most others now Im older I can behave like a spoilt brat and buy back my youth and the games we all dreamed of. Hopefully Ill be able to chip in now + again but my knowledge pales next to the Yodas that inhabit these forums.Being UK based Im a little limited for sourcing rarities but stuff does pop up now and again.Ive amassed a decent collection I think with most of the rarities barring the new homebrews I read jealously about !!! I will get round to getting some pics on soon but just wanted to tap the amassed knowledge here if I could. - To that end - I just bought a whole collection (to get a couple of rarities and more truthfully to stop it going to eBay!!!!) and amid my (wife calls it my ADHD) excited flicking round testing games I popped in a Defender cart and up pops Pac-Man . Not sure if its a Doh! or Woohoo! moment as I remember people back in the day scamming the likes of Blockbuster etc by swapping game boards round in rentals before attempting to get a mate who worked there to book 'em back in!!!! I asked the chap I bought them from and he was very apologetic. He apparently worked for Mattel in the UK in the 70's and 80's (and is retiring for some Island life hence getting shot of the loft contents) He said he'd taken it home for his kids back then as it was returned as faulty, having the wrong game board. He sounded legit and even offered a refund for the error.Having had a good buy I politely thanked him for the info and no need for the refund but Im at a loss as to the legitimacy of the item. Previous history tells me opening carts without damaging them is pretty iffy-Im not even going into my experiences, thankfully it was only cheapies !!! Anyway, the cart's pretty much without a mark on the plastic,no stresses or screwdriver marks so Im just wondering if this is something anyone's heard of? Is it something I should keep or just a shame for the old Defender cart? Just the 1st time Ive come across this so thought Id ask!
  12. I just picked up my second 2600 today for $10. It had 2 joysticks, paddles, 2 racing paddles, and 5 games nothing rare, no boxes but not bad for $10. It's a four switch. My first one is a six switch, (not a heavy sixer). I was considering doing some mods to one of them but I wanted to leave the one that's more collectable stock. Are these things pretty equal as far as collectability? And since I'm asking the question could someone possibly give me a list showing me the order of the most sought after 2600's .I know there are quite a few and I really don't know what's rare other then the heavy sixer........ I also know there are a lot of off brands, are any of these considered more or less collectable then an official Atari 2600.
  13. Hey everyone. Anyone know if this is the original box and instructions for TCM http://rover.ebay.co...-/200906887001? I've had the loose cart a few times and Halloween and its hard to know if this cart has the thumb grips from the picture (which i've asked about). How do you know if its an original box & instructions? surely you can buy the cart for $100 get a repro box? then pay £30 for a condition authentication and a piece of plastic. I dont trust people that sell these graded sealed games, it seems they pay 15-30 to have the condition labeled and then charge crazy money Someones even trying to get £115 for a sealed E.T (FFS!) just makes me angry as a colector and fellow (honest!) trader. I offered £300 as thats whats its worth in my opinion - If i'm wrong and this is worth anything like nearly $2,000 then please comment. If i was selling that, i would include some provenance. Any thoughts?
  14. I am selling my CIB Demolition Harbie game for the atari 2600. This game is pretty rare and isn't seen much. It comes with everything, the cartridge, the box, the manual, and the insert. The box has some wear on the corners but is in pretty good condition. PM me with offers on this rare game and we can work out a deal. Let me know on this post if the picture didn't work, thanks. 15. Hi everyone, I just bought this game complete with manual and box: http://www.atarimani...asma_15434.html Any rarity info please?
  16. Hey all, Looking at the Second Edition (which I printed out a long time ago) and the current edition of Valter's pretty damned awesome Rarity Guide, I want to know what you would believe the rarity of these two games which I didnt see in the list, Lady Bug and Slap Shot Super Pro Hockey, as considered to the Rarity Legend in his guide. Only for the reason that I know so I can continue to find all the lowest rarity games and move up as I go (since I miraculously seem to be missing a few common ones, which blows my mind) Further more, are there some games that are easier to find internationally? I seem to remember that there seems to be quite a comments that the European eBays make it easier to find some of the rarer Parker Brothers games, but if that makes it less rare, or not, who knows? Thanks,
  17. Greetings from Down Under On a recent interstate trip i picked up a couple of loose 2600 T-Handle carts in the wild. One is Karateka, the other Space Monster. I've been trying to find out the rarity or value of Space Monster but am having no luck. Is this game well known? I picked it up because of the unique look (and appeal) of the T-handle, and i knew they are 'rare' in general so its nice to add to the collection. Btw, i also have a loose TRON T-handle of Enduro, but again, have been experiencing difficulty in finding adequate info on these carts. Are there any good guides for collectors, different releases, etc of T-handle carts? I couldn't find anything in the Forum Search so i thought i'd just ask the experts Any and all help is much appreciated!
  18. Attached below is my latest update (v2.08) to the CV&ADAM Collector's Rarity List that I have been maintaining. This is a rather large update with numerous additions and corrections and I have detailed some of these in the list below: Removed some wrongly listed Epyx titles that I thought were available in "For ColecoVision" style as well as "For CV & ADAM" The Foreign Releases section has been reorganized and grouped by manufacturer instead of just alphabetically. This change makes this section a lot easier to read through. Added known TeleGames creations/releases of unreleased/prototype cartridges Added clones and expansion units for other systems to the ColecoVision System section... some of which may never have actually been released. Updated to included all the latest Homebrew releases and numerous corrections made Numerous new Homebrew sections added I still have further additions to make such as Coleco litertaure, press kits, paraphenalia, etc, after which time the list will be as complete as I can get it and further updates won't be as frequent. Concerning Ikrananka's PDF and Excel versions of the list, he is extremely busy at this time and may not be able to supply these for the forseable future. As always, if anyone notices any errors or missing items, please post the info here so as to shre with everyone. ColecoVision & ADAM Cartridge Collector Rarity List v2.08 (2012) (NIAD).rtf
  19. A few years ago, I bought a copy of space invaders for the 2600. It works great, the best of any of my games. Now, I have seen this before, but not too often: The front of the cart uses the silver label, however, the end label looks like a picture label, blue text on black background. Is this just a weird little mixup, or were there tons made like this? Anybody else have one like this? How rare is it?
  20. I've been collecting Atari games for a while, just started recently with the NES. Among the games I own is one of those Pirate multicarts from the early 90s. This one in particular shows up a good bit online, but not this version. It is called 110-in-1, and is a light grey cartridge with a horizontal rectangle label, which features the box art for SMB and Adventure Island, with Pac-Man in all his 80s glory. The one I see most often is made by "SuperVision" and features a pink label and a standard-looking cartridge. Anyway, mine is barely functioning. If anyone knew where I could get a replacement, or knows if it's really rare or worth anything, that'd be great.
  21. I saw that many already are listed as rare, but I find it hard to believe that some are actually somewhat rare that I own O_o ski run (blue-/green-ish cover) criminal persuit (dark green cover) obelix (silver cover) wing war (white cover with black letters) ikari warriors (red cover) Defender (2x, black and blue-/green-ish cover) and some others: Klax Ghostbusters II Asterix Open Sesame World End Dancing Plate Inca Gold Condor Attack My sources were - http://www.atarimani...ity=10&step=200 - The list of R10's compiled by Rom hunter: http://www.atariage....ost__p__2314042
