Hello, I purchased a PHP1260 memory expansion card for my PEB. However when the card is in the PEB and I turn on the PEBand then TI99/4a there is a load constant beep and the screen turns different colors and never comes to the boot screen. However if I take out the PHP1260 the PEB and TI99/4a will boot normally. Unfortunately I cannot send it back, so I wanted to know how I can get this fixed. Does anybody know if there is a reset or anything else I can do to get this fixed? Thank you for your help

Hi All, I just received my prototype board for the TI Mini Expansion System, it uses Peter Schuberts AT mini system cards from about 1986. I will post more info soon, here are some pics. Please note there are empty 40 pin sockets, these are there for adding a RP Pico or an ATMega 32, for future expansion. Regards Arto.

A couple of zips attached with BIN files for snapshots of Tunnels of Doom - Assault the City and Computer Nightmare. - no need to load the tape data. These load and run fine on a PC using MESS but the intention was to use "preloaded" adventures with Final Grom. On my console these crash on FinalGrom at a fairly early stage- my guess is a speed issue with the 40k Grom file. Do these work with your consoles? If no- any hints on what would need fixing? I have quite a set of these but have come to a bit of a stop. Garfield adventure seems to have a problem generally- possibly my dump is a bad one. While here- I am reconstructing the TI User Group disk library to put up on wht, and would welcome any web addresses you have for collections of disk images, especially the more recent disks- I have wht, archive org, and the Cyc already and have just added Milwaukee. And still disks missing... Comments welcome. All the best for the season and the coming year- Stephen

Here is the Star Trek game I posted in the very 1st post of this project blog. There it was a completion of several of the games I had posted as a kid to the TI99IUG. But it's such a neat little game I decided to make it it's own post. It's a real snap shot of the BASIC/XB program that was done back in the 80s. I made some minor updates but it's still essentially the same. It's a TI-BASIC program that was converted to TIXB. Some cleaver graphics and sound. Instructions included in the program. It self starts in XB. TREKXB.dsk

ok, this is something I have been thinking about: a universal way for a program (Basic, assembly, ...) to detect on what emulator/platform it is running on. My proposal is to add a fake device (DSR) e.g. "PLATFORM." that gives read-only access to a DIS/VAR 80 file that has a specific syntax. Line 1: Platform type. Possible values "EMULATOR", "HARDWARE" Line 2: Platform identification number: 0=TI-99/4a, 1=TinyPC, 100=mame, 101=classic99, 103=JS99'er Line 3: Platform name Line 4: Platform version Line 5: Platform capabilities (*) Example 1: JS99'er EMULATOR 102 JS99'er 8.6.2 ... Example 2: Classic99 EMULATOR 101 Classic 99 v399.047 ... Example 3: TinyPC HARDWARE 1 Tiny-99/4a v3 ... Now I am aware that on the real deal (or on mame without embedding the fake platform device) there is no "PLATFORM." device, but in that case you can act accordingly. Thinking about it further, what if having multiple devices? Perhaps something like 'PLATFORM.TIPI' or 'PLATFORM.RAMDISK' ? When having a GPL based DSRLNK you could also detect FG99 if it had such DSR? Where it gets really interesting is the optional platform capabilities string. Suppose you would be able to detect platform specific settings like (SAMS enabled, F18a enabled, etc.). What do you think?

Saw this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/99-4A-command-Module-Internal-Board-Prototype-Texas-Instruments-CB-Wilson-Estate/193901361471?hash=item2d256bf93f:g:Z98AAOSw-XBgLwXX Apparently came from the estate of CB Wilson, who my Dad recalled as a very good engineer. It looks like a command module to me (although I've never pulled apart a sidecar either.) Might be interesting.

I made a PCB to allow me to probe a TI-99 Cartridge in action. It's basically a pass-though with some logic analyzer probe pods with the Address, Data, and Control lines organized nicely. I have one assembled unit and four bare PCBs. Not sure whether to sell assembled, as solder yourself "kits", or just the bare PCB. If there's any interest in these PM me and we can work out the details. I'm limiting this to US buyers with PayPal accounts. That way there is a record of transaction and a way for me to confirm postage and tracking as a way to protect both buyer and seller. Thanks for looking!

Truths: the FinalGROM has a massive amount of storage space. the TIPI also has a massive amount of storage space. So the question is, on which device you store most of your games? While the poll is anonymous, please feel free to tell us WHY you have one preference over another.

So i have recently aquired a TI Peripheral Expansion unit and external 2 drive floppy with a buncha software. Unfortunately, i am a newb to basic and have only run carts in the 4A before. Can anyone help me out with pointers or links to a detailed guide on how to run games and software from floppy? I believe I have most of the carts/disks needed to do it, just cant figure it out. I have run some catalogs and scans with the disk manager and know at least the drive built into the PEB does work. I have tried the OLD DSK1.FILENAME command in basic but usually get (Check program in memory) I/O error 50. And trying to run them in editor/assemble gives me error code 7. Thanks for any help!

I came by this accidentally while scanning some old newsletters. I could find little reference to the company named except: Asgard News Does anyone know if it was actually manufactured, if so, did it live up to its claims? Thanks

ti99/4a UPDATE: TI99 MilleBorne, Yahtzee, Uno FASTER VERSIONS
hloberg posted a blog entry in HLO projects
I have updated three of my programs for the TI99: MilleBorne, Yahtzee and Uno. for MilleBornes I cleaned up the code for the AI opponent & made it faster. for Yahtzee I remade it without TML to speed the program up by factor of 2. Drawing the fancy color fonts in TML slows down the program because TML has to essentially draw each font on the screen in high rez. Redoing the program for just using DISPLAY AT speeds things up a lot. for Uno I also remade the program without the fancy color fonts of Kull XB. Same reason Kull XB is slow like TML as it draw the color fonts in high rez. Also cleaned up the code and it moves along rather respectfully now. for the new mile bornes use MILLEV2. for new Uno use just UNO file and for Yahtzee use the (misspelled) YATHZEE. I have also included the other BASIC programs I have posted over the months in the .zip. for manuals check put previous post of the games. mygames.zip -
Howdy folks... new to TI99/4A and excited to be here. Long time Atarian recently gifted a nice TI99/4A. Decided to video my experience using for the 1st time. Apologize for using the word TIE instead of T.I. in the video but now I know. ? Hope you enjoy if you like seeing others excited about new gear. https://youtu.be/RYVDtG78XIg I look forward to reading through the threads here and learning more about it. TJ

I was delighted to find the Classic99 TI99/4A emulator this weekend and am enjoying back in time to when I was a hotshot kid writing games for this machine. As I am getting familiar with the emulator, though, I am finding I cannot save or retrieve programs to/from the virtual TI DSKs. When saving a program in TI Extended BASIC onto DSK1 I get the error message: I/O ERROR 67 And when trying to OLD a known file from DSK1 I get: I/O ERROR 50 Both errors appear to me (according to the disk controller manual) to indicate no disk drive is found- but Classic99 emulates them! Interestingly, if I try to run an Extended Basic program on DSK1: RUN DSK1.XBDEMO or RUN DSK1.FRED these programs run without a problem! I assume I am missing something simple but can't find it. I'd hate to have to give up on Classic99 but you have to be able to save programs... Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hi guys, this is my first compiled game. It's a simple tribute to the great movie Tron. To use it copy the unziped file in your DSK1 folder (if you are using Classic99). Choose the Extended Basic and write RUN "DSK1.TRON" I hope you have fun! Luca TRON.zip

Hey all, A little under a year ago my friend and I were working on developing a game using TI Extended BASIC, a nano PEB and Barry Boone's speedy loading speech synthesis disk code. Unfortunately the best working build of ours got corrupted and we were pretty discouraged from continuing. We've moved onto other things, but I managed to find a bunch of the files scattered on different locations across my computer and decided to compile all of the footage into one place. The video is just any material that we had used before we gave up. We're thinking about making a similar game using something that's easier to program on than a TI99/4a ahaha. Here's the link if you want to watch it: LIIINNKK The footage is recorded using a capture card from my real TI, no emulators. We coded a lot of it on the TI itself until we realized how much easier it was to code on a modern computer then upload the code using the nano PEB. I just wanted to share our progress with someone and I figured someone on here might appreciate some of the work we put in (hence why the video is unlisted). Don't feel like you have to watch the whole video, it's pretty long, I just wanted to put everything that we had done into it. We won't be pursuing this project any further, I just didn't want our progress to be lost to time. Thanks!

Hey all, I recently got a Wico Trackball for the my TI and I was wondering what games are good for it. After doing a quick google search it doesn't seem like many people use it or at least write posts about it. I've only got to games at my house (I'm on vacation right now): TI Invaders and Parsec. I thought TI Invaders would be awful with the ball, but it actually makes the game shockingly more accurate (at least compared to the default controllers) I figured that Parsec would be amazing with the trackball given the full 2 dimensional movement (x direction and y direction) but it really isn't good. I can't move up and down fast enough in that game to dodge enemy fire. Any suggestions? I know centipede would be really fun, but apparently its pretty rare.

Hi all, I'm looking into getting a floppy drive for my 99, but I don't want to break the bank for one. Is there anywhere (or any other type of drive) that I could get? What are all your suggestions? Thanks!

Help! Hi, I got a Ti99/4a PAL version and when I plug it in it shows this.. I have checked the power supply and the internal power board and it gives correct voltage. So it is a chip. I have seen on google that can be from Static ram to CPU... Does anybody know what chip is faulty?

I completed the replacement of the crystal in this TI99/4A so the color stability should last years and years. I also re-did the thermal paste on the two IC chips. Cleaned every part. Sadly the machine was missing one of its metal case covers. So I asked a professional auto body painter to give it a new metal look. The paint looks great and won't rub off like spray paint cans. I added the BASIC manual, AC adapter and home made composite video cable. This is a machine that will work and work for many years at that. http://r.ebay.com/CIIJg9 Thanks for looking!

Sorry if this info is readily available and I've just missed it, but I couldn't find it specifically addressed. Does anyone know if the FlashROM99 work on a V2.2 console? Thanks in advance.

From the album: Pi99/4a Project
This is the PiCobbler that comes off the GPIO port of the Raspberry Pi 3. It fit perfectly thru the cartridge slot and when not in use tucks away behind the door. It plugs into a breadboard for electronics projects that can be controlled by the PI3.© Murdock Scott 2016
