  1. A bit back I had these MAME/MESS packages posted on ti99resources.wordpress.com/ but decided with the limited space I have on that website to just concentrate on the TI-99/4 and TI-99/4a. So I posted them to an Atariage thread. But since things, over time, tend to get lost in those threads I'm re-posting them here with updates. Notes: The .zip files come with everything you need to get the MAME/MESS emulator up and going except the current MAME/MESS. The emulator has been tested with MAME/MESS .235 and works down to version .225. get MAME here: https://www.mamedev.org/release.html and MESS here: https://messui.1emulation.com/ MESS is just MAME with the top menus put back. I have the ROMS, CFGs and INIs in a MESS directory you will need to copy into your MAME/MESS so that the emulators will work. Be sure to keep the name of the MAME/MESS directory as MESS so that the execution batch file will work. The emulated computers: Tomy Tutor - Cassette and cartridge only. Myarc Geneve 9640 - I have it booting into 2 hard drives. There is a lot more related files in other hard drives in archive. Myarc MyXBII - also boots to a hard drive. P-Card - Boots a boot floppy. Be sure to have the switch for the P-Card turned on in the switches. Only use the disk created to the p-card I have included. others may not work. TI-99/8 - Boots to floppy. Only use the blank SSSD & DSSD disk I have included as others may not work. This is a resource intensive emulator with using the Hexbus; I5 or better. TI-99/2 - Cassette only. Stick with the way I have it set up & don't use the MAME/MESS configurations of the Hexbus & the 32k memory expansion. Both I have had issues with errors on the 99/2. After all, who needs more than 4k anyway. So here you go, have fun. HLO TI99_Geneve.zip TI99_MyXBII.zip TI99 PCard.zip TI99-2.zip TI99-8.zip Tomy Tutor.zip
  2. On ebay they have a Tron game cartridge up for sale. https://www.ebay.de/itm/324289359785 Anyone seen that cartridge before? Is the ROM available or screenshots of gameplay? Quick search on Youtube didn’t bring up anything.
  3. Here's my collection of Tomy Tutor homebew PCB's. I'll start of with the great gift I received in 2018 by Tanam from Japan. The middle cartridge has Pitfall! converted to the Tomy Tutor. The more interesting one to me is Door door pictured on the left. Notice there's also a 32K RAM on there. I have both a Pyuuta (=Japanese version Tutor) and later I also bought an american Tomy Tutor. The interesting part is, that there are differences between the two. On the Adapter board I need to remove the EPROM and pull the kill jumper to make it work on the American version. @tanam1972 if you're reading this: Does the red cartridge PCB also has RAM on there?
  4. What needs to be done to allow me to move qualified threads into the new TMS9900x Tomy Tutor subforum (See TI-99/4a computers) or at least tag them accordingly so they can be moved by a moderator. I’m not a moderator, but did volunteer with Albert for moving topics when I requested the new subforum. Thanks Filip (retroclouds)
  5. Klaus of Team Europe has been working on a new cartridge for the Tomy Tutor: You can read all about it here: https://team-europe.blogspot.com/2020/09/tomy-tutorpyuuta-ultimate-multicart.html There’s still some space left on the cartridge. Everyone who contributes a new game to the cartridge (new homebrew) gets an Ultimate Cartridge for free (you only pay shipping costs). Thank you Klaus!
  6. Next to my multiple TI-99/4a home computers, I also own multiple Tomy tutors and even a Geneve. In The last 10 years or so Atariage has become the home of most of the TI-99/4a community. Unfortunately for the Tomy Tutor, the community is really scattered on the internet and it's hard to find technical details and programming details. Also have the feeling that most Tomy Tutor, 99/8 and Geneve owners are here on Atariage in the TI-99/4a section. To better focus the threads and gather additional interest I propose to create a subforum in the TI-99/4A Computers section right here on Atariage. Target group for the subforum are the close relatives of the TI-99/4a like Tomy Tutor, 99/8, DS990, ... Minimal requirement for that is that the heart of the computer, the CPU must be a Texas Instruments 16bit CPU like TMS9900 (or closely related like TMS9995). The VDP chip alone does not count, machines with a Z80 CPU (Colecovision, MSX) have their own forums here on Atariage. I have opened up a poll that goes until end of september. Depending on the poll results we can then discuss with Albert. What do you think? Please vote in the poll and comment here. 😀 Retroclouds
