  1. Hello, my name is Michael and I'm a hobbyist video game historian and co-founder of a small but steadily growing community around the Nokia N-Gage, with the main goal of preserving its history for posterity. As part of our work, we published the following article yesterday, which rehashes the story of the previously unreleased Leisure Suit Larry: Pocket Party for the Nokia N-Gage in as much detail as possible. https://mupf.dev/ngage-leisure-suit-larry-pocket-party.html The article is an ongoing process and I am sure we will add to it in the near future. If you have questions or maybe even something to contribute, please let me know. Any help, insight or feedback is highly appreciated. Best regards, Michael

  3. Ever since i laid eyes upon Laurens Simonis and Yiri T. Kohl's TNT Terry, i wanted to know if there was more beyond the existing prototype cartridges and potos showcasing the game playable during one of the old JagFests. That led me in contacting Yiri, who worked as graphic artist in the project (http://yiri.maniac.com/ego_lynx.html) via Facebook and sure enough, i found him in October 2018 but took a year later for Yiri to respond my DM. He told me about his experience working for the Lynx, stating the following: - "I hear you! Unfortunately developing stuff for the actual hardware is,or at leas was, at the time, not as simple as, say, pick up a c++ devkit for making something run a a gameboy advance.... Which is why I never picked up the project again in later years." Afterwards, i told him if by some miracle he had artwork for TNT Terry after all these years, since they could be lost for some reason. Luckily, he did and send me a .zip file containing all of the surviving artwork for the project. I want to thank Yiri T. Kohl for preserving his decades-long work and allowing me to showcase it for everybody. Here's the .zip file for all to enjoy. I hope someday that a .ROM of the TNT Terry demo is preserved for historical purposes... :) Also, check out Yiri's other website, which hosts a GBA homebrew conversion of Oil's Well: https://shintaro.home.xs4all.nl/shinlabs/index.html tnt_terry.zip TERRY.tif
  4. Hello all! I did a lot of Atari 8-bit coding as a teenager on my Atari 400 and wrote about a few games including about SIX in Atari BASIC, and ONE in 100% assembly language. Some of you may recall that I posted about the assembly language game about 12 years ago. It is a Shoot 'em up called 'Sector Wars" and at the time I was trying to raise money for a charity and when the target was reached I was going to release the game. Unfortunately the target wasn't reached but some very kind people (some of which I believe frequent this forum) did donate at the time and the money went straight to the charity via JustGiving. I always wanted to finish the game but with one thing and another I never got around to it. Original Thread for anyone interested : O Anyway to cut a long story short I am just finishing it off now, and I will release it here next week :). In the meantime for the next few days, I will upload some of my games written in BASIC. A couple were published in the UK Home Computing Weekly magazine in the 1980s, and the rest I never got around to sending off to anyone. Some are okay but others a not so good but I will upload them for completeness. Something for lockdown anyway ;). For Friday (17th April 2020) I will upload the two BASIC games published by Home Computing Weekly magazine. The Chaotic Crossing (chaotic.bas) - Published in the UK Home Computing Weekly magazine Magazine Link: https://archive.org/details/home-computing-weekly-066/page/n27/mode/2up HCWMan (Pacman Clone): This isn't great - and ran quite slow. Magazine Link: https://archive.org/details/home-computing-weekly-054/page/n47/mode/2up Over the next few days I will release some more BASIC games including one which is a Yars Revenge clone. Cheers Vic chaotic.bas hcwman.bas
  5. Hey guys, Mosty I am talking old toys, mostly Kenner stuff but I came across concept art that many believe was a 1981 plan for Kenner to release a home system. I have been digging around with no lucky in any good information, just concept art dated 1981. I cant even tell 100% the name on the art. I am looking for anyone help, anyone with info or maybe contacts I can try. I have even talked to a former VP at Kenner and others but all was hired after 1981. I did a video on all the info I have... but love to find out more. My video https://youtu.be/7hogu3prFd4 Concept Art https://imgur.com/a/Bm8Cnsg
  6. This is the thread I'm going to use to release any ColecoVision Unreleased/Prototype/Vaporware games (or rom files, if you will) The ColecoVision Brotherhood is composed of a few members here who put their money together (sometimes alone) to buy ColecoVision prototypes to release them to the public, so anyone can finally enjoy them! If you have any unreleased prototypes, please contact me We're offering very good $$$$ reward for any unreleased games! PS: Feel free to contribute to this thread!
  7. That's right!! A great news for the whole ColecoVision community! CollectorVision found & preserved another unreleased game! This game has NEVER been dumped before and this is the only cartridge in existence! The game is not a prototype, it's the full game We're going to post more informations about this awesome find, soon!
  8. We're about to release a previously unreleased ColecoVision vaporware! Vapowares/Prototypes/Unreleased games are really my thing In fact, my goal for 2019 is to release as many of those as possible I'll soon post more informations about it! Stay toon! You can follow us here!
  9. I found this scan of a page from a CBS Electronics catalog on Atarimania, on this page I can't help but notice how many games listed never got released. Never knew that Domino Man was getting home ports and CBS Electronics even planing on making games for the Intellivision, as other than the overseas Coleco releases, I don't think they've even released any games for the Intellivision. Which makes me wonder. Do at least one of these unreleased games have a prototype build out in the wild?
  10. Hey Guys, so lately we have been working on full force to acquire prototypes along their rights to finish the games and publish them. I want to keep this thread open to discuss the games that we have acquired and the status of each game (usually we get games incomplete). -Game Name - Status - Description -Dorke and Ymp SNES - Fully Playable - New World added from source code acquired, New music, bug fixes, and additional boss fights. Available for purchase at http://pikointeractive.com/store.htmland Steam. - Pinkie SNES - Fully Playable - debug mode turned off - Currently WTB CD32 and Megadrive protos. Scheduled to release in 2017 -Indigo ST/Amiga - Fully Playable - Game fully playable dumps available online. We are planning GBA/GenesisJaguar ports along physical CD32 physical release. -Tyrannosaurus Tex GBC - Fully Playable - Proto Rom acquired from fellow Assemblergames member, seems to be fully playable working on a couple of small things that need polish. Physical release for GBC planned for 2017. PC Remaster planned as well as Genesis port planned. -Jim Power The Lost Dimension Genesis - Fully Playable - Optimized to work on both PAL and NTSC, fully playable with all songs, will be released in a planned Jim Power Crowdfunding campaign along with every physical version of every Retro platform. -Video Kid SNES - NOT FOUND - Unfortunately the programmer and sub-publisher lost all data of the SNES version. WTB SNES prototype. Hoping Kaneko Japan has a back up somewhere. -Switchblade II NES - NOT FOUND - Developer who coded mentioned he may have a back up but lead went cold. Currently WTB prototype of the NES version; hoping Kaneko Japan has a back up. -Madness House of Fun Genesis - FOUND - Found the source code which seems to be complete or almost complete. No Binaries. This version is called PJ in the Dreamland. Hoping to get it compiled somehow. -ODEMA GBA - Found /WIP - Found the source code for part of the games, art assets for the full game and very early build of the game. Game will be re-written from scratch it seems. Have a lead of a collector that owns a later proto but not willing to sell. WTB Proto for ODEMA GBA I've been very busy, this is time consuming and expensive, but I'm glad there is progress. Any comments or questions please let me know. Any lead of attainable license/rights protos would be appreciated!
  11. Hey guys, I'm back with the new project (M.U.S.H.A. Remastered was the first one and it was so much fun) and this time it's BEASTBALL an unreleased game for Sega Genesis. STORY Brutal does not come close to describing the level of Carnage you will face in the trials ahead. Beastball takes football to the next level of brutality. Slay, bash, and Maine your way through the entire championship. Start off with the Brave and Bold Vikings and move your way up do different mutations and races to become more Savage and dominate the playing field. Beastball was originally scheduled to be released at the end of the Sega Genesis™ lifespan(1993-94) But ultimately was never released. It was going to be the first of many games in a planned “Brutal Sports” line by Spectrum Holobyte™. The game was published on the Amiga, Atari Jaguar and MS-DOS™ as Brutal Sports Football (Crazy Football in Germany). Most likely the SNES and Genesis versions were cancelled when Microprose™ purchased Spectrum Holobyte™ in 1993. The game was developed by Millennium Interactive™, a company best known for their James Pond series, and Teque Software. In 2011 MrMark0673 released the ROM image of the unreleased Sega Genesis™ version of the game. The Finished Prototype was originally owned by DreamTR. Maybe someday a SNES version will come out as well? ¹ Here at REGaming we’ve decided to take this classic game again and redesign it for a new age. One in which true retro gamers can indulge in their need to collect all the classics from which they can. CROWDFUNDING We will be making this game as soon as we receive at least 35 backers. If we do not reach our goal of 35 purchases of the game in 21 days. Then all money will be refunded and we will move on to the next project. As we put a lot of care and effort into this product we certainly look forward to see how many people want to partake in this game. And we are excited to bring everyone a game that was never released. YOU ARE GETTING: 1x CASE with Sleeve 1x Full Color Manual 1x Game Cartridge More goodies(cough… check the manual) *Games are made with 100% brand new parts. No donor Boards, Chips, Shells and/or Cases. That is a Guarantee. CHECK IT OUT
  12. Thanks to the game designer, graphic artist and musician Luca Stradiotto, we now have the 25 years-old unreleased Atari ST version of "Lupo Alberto - The Videogame" (a game based on a famous Italian comic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupo_Alberto) The game is complete, music apart (early demo version). In 1990 C64 version was released: http://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D1555 In 1991 Amiga version was released: http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=2227 Atari ST version was not released. I attach the game and an original character drawing: EDIT: new .msa version attached Lupo Alberto.zip
  13. Potentially good news for 7800 fans revealed in an interview with Atari 8-bit computer programmer/hacker "Glen the 5200 man": See this post and listen to the last 5 minutes of the Antic interview for more information.
  14. Searched and searched for "Meet the Challenge" by Parker Bros but it doesn't seem to exist. Anyone got any info?
  15. Have the atari 5200 paddle controllers been found by any collectors yet?? and if so, are are any of them complete? :?
  16. I decided to start this thread in case someone is interested in making those Vaporware games - Rip Cord (Currently in development) - Destruction Derby (Currently in development) - Dracula (Hardhat worked on this one) - Horse Racing (WIP ? ) - Mr. Turtle - Tac/Scan - Super Turbo - Super Gorf - Tunnels & Trolls (3 peoples are making their own version, all different versions) - Smurf Smurffete's Brithday / Papa Smurf's Treasure Hunt - Sword & Sorcerer (non playable proto found) - Wizard of Wor (Opcode had dibbs on this one) - Wild Western (Only a Opcode demo has been done) Am I Missing any titles? (From Coleco only)
  17. Is it true that the Mario Bros. (1983) port for the Atari XL computers was never actually released? If so, then that means there were virtually no official computer-based ports of MB at all, at least not here in the USA (prior to the 1988 Atari XEGS port, which itself was an improvement on the original 5200 cartridge port and with audio inspired by the Nintendo FamiCom/NES version of the same game). It would also mean that the so-called "XL" ports of the game I'm seeing was just the 5200 console version's ROM burned onto other media. The unreleased pre-1984 ports (USA): Atari XL (just a transfer from the 5200) Apple II (partially finished) Commodore 64 (finished) Pre-1984 ports of Mario Bros. that were released in the USA: Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Post-1984 ports (USA availability): Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) (also was a bonus mini-game within Super Mario Bros. 3) Atari 7800 Atari XEGS Super Nintendo Entertainment System (as a bonus mini-game within Super Mario Bros. 3) Game Boy Advance (as a bonus game on all four Super Mario Advance titles, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga) ~Ben
  18. Hello guys, I was checking out David Harley's website and I saw this game announced. http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/tennis/tennis.php The game looks like the fantastic Intellivision Tennis but with 1 player option! I think that Tennis was one of the best sport games for the INTV and I always dreamed about playing it 1 player. I am wondering if anyone has played this game and if it really delivers the promise of a 1 player Intelliivision tennis. Thank you! PS By the way Super Chef Burgertime was also announced. I guess this is the Beefdrop clone that David introduced some months ago.
  19. Were there any ColecoVision titles that were never released, for reasons other than the general effects of the 1983-84 video game crash? One of these non-crash-related reasons could be: the title was not released because the graphics couldn't be made sufficient to fit in a 32K ROM cartridge, which was the maximum size for all ColecoVision cartridge-based media. I wonder if the such planned for late 1983-early 1984 releases like AtariSoft's Pole Position, as well as Parker Brothers' Circus Charlie license, were cancelled for this particular reason (the graphics couldn't be made sufficient for a 32K ROM)? The only media for the ColecoVision larger than cartridges were the ADAM digital data packs, which was why there were improved ports of Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong, Jr. available. ~Ben
  20. For Eduardo: I wonder what the Parker Brothers version of Circus Charlie would have looked like? Only the MSX version might have been close, since it uses the same Z80 processor and Texas Instruments TMS9928A VDP as the ColecoVision: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Now42DgefPQ Anyways, I would like to know how difficult it would be for you and your company, Opcode Games, to make an actual CV version of Circus Charlie the way that other CV games published by Parker Brothers had been (say, Q*bert or Frogger or Super Cobra)? ~Ben
  21. http://www.atariage.com/catalog_page.html?CatalogID=15&currentPage=12 http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/games/octopussy_1983.php3?s=games&id=02917 I wonder if OpcodeGames would have such interest in making a version of JB007 for the ColecoVision based specifically on the train scene from the 1983 movie Octopussy? In the end, the final version of the game released by Parker Bros. on the likes of Atari 2600/Sears Video Arcade, the Intellivision/Sears Super Video Arcade/Radio Shack TandyVision was actually a game in the style of Moon Patrol, borrowing scenery from four older JB007 films such as 1971's Diamonds are Forever and 1979's Moonraker. Thank you, Ben Edge
