  1. I'm curious why they've never tried it? I mean they made an MP3 player and that worked out great for them, so why not a hand held gaming device? In all seriousness though, I wonder if they did a cost benefit analysis of going up against Nintendo and decided the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze? That didn't seem to deter Sony... Interesting that they are the only major console manufacturer with no hand held offering. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the matter.
  2. Despite spending years with my Xbox 360, there are several games that I've missed on that console. Now that I own an Xbox One and that I started using the fantastic backwards compatibility program, I discovered a bunch of titles I've never played before. So I made a list with some of my favorite ones and the games I consider absolutely essential if you haven't played them before, here they are: BioShock Call of Duty: Black Ops Dark Souls Mass Effect Red Dead Redemption Fallout 3 Burnout Paradise The Orange Box Assassin's Creed II Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX+ I tried to include games from different genres (I'll leave a link below to my article in case anyone's interested.) So what did I miss? What are, in your opinion, some of the best backwards compatible games? Thanks and I hope you guys like the list. 10 Essential Xbox One Backward Compatible Games
  3. I've got a Halo edition Xbox where the hard drive finally conked out on me a little while ago. I'm interested in resurrecting the machine even though it seems likely I'm out of luck on recovering any of my old data, but I'm not sure what the steps are for this scenario, and Google has been kind of confusing. I've got an Xecuter 2.6 chip to install on the board, and a new compatible HDD is on my shopping list - I just don't know what to do from there once I've got the chip and hard drive in place. Ideally I want to be able to boot up the original dashboard along with a homebrew one by pushing different buttons (to maintain some semblance of original hardware), I don't know if there's a process to setting that up with a fresh HDD?
  4. Im having no luck installing addons in to xbmc4xbox 3.5.3 is it even possible? All the tuts I found say to go to system then addons which doesnt exist. I did install this on a pc and it was there but not on the xbox version...any advise?
  5. I have 3 Original XBoxs. All of which I was able to softmod. The first one flawless, added a SATA HDD using an adapter(after reading that a 80 wire IDE cable was needed). They way I did was: 1 - Copy Splinter Cell game same to hdd 2 - Copy SID 5.12 game save to hdd 3 - Launch Splinter Cell 4 - Create Backups 5 - Load the dash 6 - FTP to my PC 7 - Copy CHIMP 2.6.8 to hdd 8 - Copy C, E, X, Y, Z drives to PC 9 - Run Xboxhdmv1.9, putting files where they need to be 10 - Run the linux.iso, option 1 11 - Run Xboxhd 12 - Generate Eeprom (opt. 6) 13 - Create Dos Floppy w/Locking tools (opt. 7) 14 - Build New Xbox HD (option 1) 15 - Start Xbox (original Softmodded hdd) 16 - Attach new hdd as slave removing the DVD 17 - Run Chimp 18 - Lock Slave Drive from eeprom.bin 19 - Reboot with new drive as master..Works like a champ Now for #2 and #3 same steps followed but with both of these I could not get chimp to run, was able to lock the disks with xboxhdm but the xboxes would not unlock them. (ERROR 06) And yes I used the eeprom.bin files from the appropriate xboxs. I went through the same process each time. I am able to unlock the drives using xboxhdm. Also, tried 4 different versions of CHIMP no different. Any advise, besides buy a modchip?
  6. Well, It's time for The Great Dreygor House Clearing Sale Extravaganza! I am having a convergence of events that dictate that I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff .. building a new house and not wanting to move a bunch of stuff when I move .. taking on a new expensive hobby project (renovating and converting arcade machine .. wouldn't be so bad if I was reselling it, but I am keeping it when I am done) .. and the wife plain simply says I have too much crap laying around and I need to get rid of it! I will be listing everything and will range from video games, toys, IT gear (computers, switches, and other cool stuff) and stuff you did not know you absolutely needed! each post will say what I am looking for however I am open to you making me an offer or even trading .. what my wife doesnt know I aquire wont hurt her! What you see in the picture is what you are getting. I will add stuff in groups at a time as it's time consuming. So it won't all be listed in one day. I would keep checking back to make sure you don't miss that one item you need! PAYMENT: All prices are USD. I accept PayPal ONLY. All sales are final and tech support is not included in the price (that will be extra .. although I do not have much time at the moment). PM me what you want and your offer. I will PM you back either acccepting you offer along with my PayPal address or I will PM you back with a counter offer of telling you to please reconsider your offer. You PayPal me the money the item is yours and I mark it as sold. Easy as that! SHIPPING: I do not tell you how much shipping is up front. I will combine shipping, but let me know everything you are buying so I can try to figure out how to package it for shipment. I will tell you the wieght and the size of the box. At that point you tell me how you want it shipped and pay for it via PayPal. If I get to the post office or UPS and what you paid me is not enough you will get a msg stating what the difference is. If the difference is great enough I will notify you of what USPS and UPS says the cost actually is.. I will ship anywhere in the world you want to pay me to ship it, however you assume all the risk if you do not pay for insurance. By the way this stuff is getting list on multiple sites so if you are thinking about getting something don't wait too long. Original Xbox Games Would like to get rid of these all in one lot. 7. As I realize I have less and less space to house stuff i'm really keeping the best titles and moving more towards SD carts. I also may have to slim down a few systems but may want to play those games still and explore other retro systems I probably won't find in the wild. I have more or less narrowed down my choices to the original Xbox and Wii to use as an emulator box; and I was wondering which you all thought would be better to use as an emulation machine. Here is my reasoning for avoiding other options: -PC/Raspberry Pi: Probably better I realize but I want to use a console for convenience and aesthetics. -Gamecube/PS2-Could be done but seems to make more sense to do an xbox or a wii for various reasons -Dreamcast- Underpowered for emulation purposes of later systems -Xbox360/PS3- Have a PS3 fatty but don't want to void warranty/updates, online features, etc. just yet. I am at this time leaning towards the Xbox because of the MAME capabilities and the fact that the internal hard-drive can be upgraded whereas using a Wii i'd have to burn discs or have an external hard drive connected via a USB (the speed worries me for that option.) I know you can do the home brew channel on the Wii mode on your Wii U, but assume you couldn't access the external hard drive formatted for the Wii U via that channel, creating its own issues. Can anyone speak to that and/or if you are able to partition it? Let me know what you think and if I missed any consoles/options I should be considering! I definitely want to use a CONSOLE though. Thanks!
  8. Hey..I have 4 Original Xbox Consoles that I acquired from a yard sale. They all power up and play games nicely. I could care less about Xbox games, I want to make these in to Emulation/Media Boxes. I read dozens of posts and instructions and it all seems fairly straight forward for the softmod with the exception that I do not have a memory card and in October of 2016 you can find a usb stick (off the shelf) that can be read in the console or formatted FATx. So before I spend more money and run into road blocks I had a few questions: 1. Softmod or Mod Chip, do the both do the same thing? Again I don't care Xbox games/backups/Imports, just emulation and a larger hd 2. Which Softmod technique 3. Which Mod Chip Thanks for reading...I always get the best answers here..

  12. I have an original Xbox that just randomly stopped turning on. This is my third original Xbox and I'm tired of losing all my old saves (the hdd in my 2001 Xbox died in probably 2008 or so). ANYWAY - it just doesn't turn on - the power button does nothing. So, I figured I'd just buy a working Xbox and swap parts around to get it to work. I found a cheap replacement Xbox that was working perfectly. I swapped in the new power supply, on/off button, etc - nothing. I had both motherboards next to each other - when things were plugged into the newer mobo - everything worked fine, swap the cords to the broken xbox and nothing works. So, working power supply, working on/off button, broken motherboard. I visually checked all the capacitors and none seem to be bad, so I don't know what to check. Any help would be appreciated. Alternatively - can I somehow get the saves off my old hard drive and transfer them to the new one? I never got around to modding this past broken xbox, so I never dumped the EPROM from the hdd or anything.

I need to know what goes in what directories if that is all that is required. Do I need the OS rom images and the basic images? What file format can the 800/XL game roms be in ? .zip, atr , xex ?? all the 5200 roms are in zip. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks!
  15. Today I just want to ask what everyone's favorite game of 2015 was. It can be a next gen console game, Steam game, homebrew title, or anything else you can think of. My favorite was Undertale (on Steam). It's a retro styled RPG that does it all: it's original, difficult but not too hard, has amazing replay value, hilarious, has a deep story, amazing music (you telling me you haven't seen the million hopes and dreams remixes on youtube), and best of all is only $10! Rant away!
  16. Here's what is left and some prices. Every game pictured comes with the game disc/cartridge and manual. Please purchase a minimum of $10 to make it worthwhile for me to drive to the post office Prices do not include shipping. XBOX Dark Summit $5 Tony Hawk 4 $5 GENESIS Roadblasters $14 DREAMCAST Bangai O $55 (European version, works fine on US tvs) Armada $20 ATARI LYNX Crystal Mines II $5 Tournament Cyberball $7 (sealed NIB) Stun Runner $12 Steel Talons $7 Hydra $7 QIX $32
  17. I know that when Atari was building up to the original Xbox launch, the Atari brand was tarnished in many ways, but it did (and still does) have a huge amount of cache as a hugely influental American game and game console maker. From a marketing and business standpoint there are a lot of good arguments for them to have cheaply bought the established name and slapped in on their first game console. For example Atari 9600, by Microsoft, or something along those lines. I bet there was at least some consideration of the idea at Microsoft at the time. Instant brand recognition and cache from the American gaming public was up for grabs, but they passed. What do you think?
