  1. So, Hi As the title states, I'm searching for PAL A8 items in working condition. - 1200XL - Atari 5200 (no preference over 2 or 4 ports) - PSU for Atari 1010 (got 2 tape players, NONE with a PSU !) - A8 accessories or related goodies (manuals, advertisings, Atari/Koala pad, etc...) In working order, loose, eventually with the PSU for the 1200XL (I have a step-down converter, don't worry), RF cable not mandatory, box & manuals not mandatory ! If you have a bundle of cartdriges for XL/XE pal computers for cheap, I'm interested too I am in France, and I'll pay for the shipping TRACKED and SIGNED FOR even from the USA. PM If you have any of what I'm searching for...
  2. Hey everyone. I'm looking for a 400\800 computer right now. Working of course. I really just need the computer itself. I already have a 800xl, (so I assume they use the same power\rf.....correct me if I'm wrong). Pm me if your interested in selling. I would prefer 800, but I could also be interested in a 400. All if this if the price is right and we can work out a deal.
  3. After picking up an Arabic NAJM Atari 65XE i started searching for info on it. That led me to someone stating they had a Hebrew Atari 8-Bit (both with keyboard and OS variants). I'm wondering what other Atari 8-Bit computers came with different language variations? Is there a list that shows all different Atari 8-Bit computer keyboard language versions? I tried searching the Forums but only found keyboard variations - not language / OS variants. Would love to find out more (and collect) other Non-English Atari's
  4. I have a strange problem with my Atari 400. I have a new keyboard from BE, and the old semi faulty keyboard. When in MEMO PAD, the new keyboard is fine and registers all key presses, the old keyboard only registers a few keys. With BASIC cart inserted, neither keyboard is registered. I have tried the BASIC cart in my 800 and it works fine. I have also swapped the OS and the RAM from the 800 and get the same results. Please help me to save this 400, any ideas what else I should check? I only have basic tools and a digital multi meter. I have a very dead (red screen) 400 and a working 800 that I could swap parts from. Cheers
  5. I've had a vcs and Intellivision for a long time now, I have the opportunity to buy a 400 computer with a bunch of game cartridges pretty cheap, but I've heard most of the 400/800 games availible were just 2600 games with graphical upgrades. I can see there are a few titles I don't have for any system, just wanted to ask what people think about it.
  6. Saturday evening my neighbor came over to visit and brought over a few items his son wanted rid of because of moving to a smaller house. Two of those items were Atari 400 computers and the other was a Coleco Adam base. I have been trying to get an 400 for a while now and I finally got two for free! Tested them out, but neither wanted to work. One just shows either a back or green screen and that is it, the other would show a screen off and on and you could hear the speaker make the key press blips when you pressed a letter. I completely tore apart the worst on first and used it to get my bearings. Neat little critters. It still only shows a black or green screen. I fiddled with the second one and could get it to work if I wiggled the power/AV board around. So, I detatched it, sprayed some contact cleaner in the channel switch and the connector socked and plugged it back into place. Voila! Now I have a fully functional 400 computer! Looks like the keyboard pad was replaced sometime in this unit's life and I am surprised how sensitive it is for an old touchpad. Now I wonder if I can save the other one or make it into a parts machine? Not sure what is wrong with it. One thing I do know, I now need to find more cartridges!
  7. All this is about original 400/800 "non-XL" machines: I am trying to use tf_hh's 400 RAM card to best effect by burning an EPROM with Fastchip and Omnimon for the 400/800. While I have found a lot of documentation I have not been able to collect the necessary ROM files (or at least to assemble them in a form that works on Altirra before I burn them). My understanding is that I need 8K of OSN OS ROM which is patched to allow, inter alia, access to Omnimon with System Reset + Option, 4K of Omnimon and (optional) 2K of FastChip which should be assembled in the following sequence: Fastchip C000-CFFF empty/zero D000-D800 (hardware registers) FP ROM D800-DFFF OS ROM E000-FFFF I would be happy with a single file I can burn but short of that appreciate any vectors on where to find working ROM files. There is documenation about an extended Omnimon and a combined Omnimon/ROMDOS but I understand these to require a RAMROD board that allows for bankswitching in the C000-CFFF area. As I will eventually try to use these on an Incognito 800 as well, would that support bankswitching of the OSN type in the C000-CFFF area?
  8. For those of you still needing to fill that Tigervision hole in your 8-bit Atari collection, there's a 'Matterhorn' up now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matterhorn-HOLY-GRAIL-for-Atari-8-bit-Computers-400-800-XL-XE-ONLY-SEVEN-KNOWN-/111629975616? Not the crème de la crème, but rare as sin nevertheless.
  9. Hi, I've got another problem - I have NTSC 400, which doesn't output sound. I think it's NTSC one, because peeking 53628 returns 15 - so it's maybe because my TV can't get sound from NTSC machine? Diskette drive seems to work (stopped booting to MyDOS - don't have enough ram/not XL os, but worked). Any ideas? Edit: I'm getting noise from TV, I've tried different cables so it's not because it's broken - picture is clear. Oh and my TV is PAL, but if I remember correctly it works with NTSC too.(Sony triniton from 90's)
  10. I found some weird stuff at a yard sale recently. Can't price a lot of it online. Any help as to identifying or pricing any of this stuff would be really awesome!

  14. I'm thinking about connecting a XEGS keyboard to my 400. Since the XEGS keyboard has two 4051 in its case, the signals on the connector are essentially the POKEY input signals. My thinking is that I only have to connect the XEGS keyboard signals to the POKEY. My question: Should I protect the POKEY or does it suffice to directly connect them?
  15. Okay so a while back i ran into a guy on craigslist who gave me 2 boxes of atari stuff for free. Turns out he was a programmer of an atari game: poussinet. In the box i found all of the blueprints, code books and tons of other neat one of kind stuff. There is a cassette labelled poussinet, and a few Floppys too. If anyone would be interested in these one of a kind items, i can get pics. and i may be willing to sell if the price is right If you have any interest at all just send me a pm !
  16. Hey guys I found an Atari 400 at Goodwill and bought it yesterday. The problem is there is no power cable and I dont want to pay the $25 for the ones on ebay. Is there any new stuff that works? I thought maybe this would work but I wanna be sure it would fit the adapter plugin on the 400. Thnx
  17. I have a variety of Atari 8-Bit Computer items up for sale: eBay Items For Sale More items going up shortly including: • 400 Computer System (16K) • 800XL Computer System with 6 Game Cartridges • 2 x Trak-Ball Controllers Make me an offer. Thanks for looking.
  18. I bought this in Colorado and I am very pleased with my buy, . $150 for the system, manuals, BASIC Programming package, 4 controllers, and 8 carts. I haven't done too much with it yet, but I have ALWAYS loved this system! "Scribble" the built in "game" reminds me a lot of Video Easel for the Atari 8bits. Who wrote VE for Atari? Who wrote Scribble for Bally? Do the Bally controllers work on an Atari or Genesis or Vice-Versa? What do I need to know about this system? How come it doesn't have a sub-group here on AA?
  19. Hi everybody. I've got an Atari 400 with a keyboard that doesn't register 2,W,S,X, and Shift. I already swapped the 4051 and POKEY chip with known working ones so that isn't the issue. I did plug in a fully working keyboard from another unit and it worked fine in it. I was looking through old threads and found recommendations for myatari.com. It looks like the site is down for maintenance though. I'm not sure how long that has been offline. Does anybody here know if these are available anywhere else? Thanks guys. You've been a great help to me.
  20. Hi guys, I was browsing the forum and found this topic about French Atari 400's: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/62346-atari-400-way-to-use-a-video-monitor-with-it/page-2 I remembered that I have a 400 with a Scart (or in France Peritel) connector. Sadly in the topic the pictures aren't available anymore, so I cannot compare my 400 with the one Arnaud (atari-passion) showed in the thread. I tried to power it on. My television set detects the signal (scart and audio) but sadly no picture. Also on the RF cable there is no picture. I will try to fix this. Looking at the pinout if the scart connector uses only Composite video and audio, so it is not RGB. But in the meantine, has anyone seen this kind of mod anywhere?
  21. Hey Guys, I recently got hold of a 400 that's not in working condition (unfortunately it's also missing a bit of the case at the back next to where the RF lead comes out, seems to have taken a hit during shipping). Basically there's nothing on screen (though it's not straight up noise) and no key-clicks, so I set about debugging the issue using the Field Service Manual. I got as far as the step for the black/grey screen chart that says to check for 12V on Pin 2 of the power board -> mother board connector (J201 from memory). I do not have 12V on that pin, (the +5v and -5 pins seem good). The flow chart says to check 3 caps and a diode, the diode seems good and two of the caps have 12V across them which would be what I expect. One cap however, (C203?) is a smaller green type, wedgedbetween the big black sheild/heatsink and RF modulator. I managed to hook some wires around the legs of the cap to get my multimeter onto it, and on there I'm seeing a voltage of around 26V. I know it's a long shot but can anyone confirm if it's supposed to be that high or if that's an indication of the fault?
  22. From the album: My Game Collection

Bought this at a local Metal and Electronics recycler, was in their "Second Chance Resale Section", paid $10. Works Good. Came with 4 Joysticks and Epyx "Pit Stop" Cartridge.
  23. Looking for help with pricing for a few sealed games I can't find much about I have Atari xe joust , moon patrol , blue max , caverns of mars all are sealed and I have doubles of all .. Hoping some one may have some info or could help me ..
  24. I've been thinking a little, and I think it would be fairly easy to build a RAM board for the atari 400/800 which would occupy the first RAM slot, have a ribbon cable run out to the 74LS42 address decoder, and provide 64K of RAM and the XL OS to the board. I think there would NOT need to be many soldered modifications, maybe to add a hard reset (or just modify the OS to detect the 400/800 NMI style reset). I would do my best to include a way to enable and disable the upgrade, so you can return to 400/800 mode and have all 4 joystick ports available for use, etc. The main purpose for this upgrade would be to put a U1MB into a 400 or 800, and plug it into this board. The existence of an MMU socket, a 28 pin style OSROM socket, and all of the other necesary signals pinned out for the U1MB (with the exception of /HALT which would require a connection to the CPU board I believe) would make the installation all but plug and play since all 400/800's are socketed. The only non-plug and play bit would be the soldered connection to /HALT on the ANTIC, I believe. In addition to providing U1MB connections, this upgrade could be used standalone as a 64K upgrade, just use an OSROM (would be provided) and an MMU (would probably be present on the board as a CPLD) and it works by itself. I was thinking I would do my best to keep the price below $50, though I suspect it'd be cheaper even (the concept itself isn't all that complex IMO, so I'd estimate $30 at the least). Of course, this is only checking interest, I'm not saying I will do this in quantity just yet, or that everything I said is even correct/that the concept is totally viable. EDIT: also, I know that the incognito is basically U1MB + SIDE converted for the 800. I know there are subtle differences in the software, like the U1MB stuff using a different key in place of help on the incognito. To that effect, hopefully Candle will helpful in this regard, and allow me to make some small changes to the U1MB firmware image to allow easy use with this board, which would have to be flashed into the U1MB once installed. I know this seems a lot like incognito, but the difference is that it also supports the 400. That was my original plan, to make it for the 400, but there's no reason it couldn't work in an 800, so I might as well support it. I don't mean this to compete with incognito, I want to make that clear. EDIT2: typo, there will NOT need to be many soldered modifications EDIT3: 400/800 use 74LS42 as address decoder, not 74LS138.
