My friend gave me an Atari for my son to play with, but it keeps freezing. I can scroll a couple pages on the home screen when browsing games, but after I pass through like 5 or 6 games it freezes and it makes that sound the old Nintendo used to make when it would freeze. Sometimes I can select a game but it freezes immediately, and sometimes I can select a game then it freezes when I push start or after 1 minute or so of playing. Every time it freezes I have power it off and back on and it keeps happening, I've had it almost a week and haven't been able to pay a single game on it with my kid yet. I have the yellow and white plugs correctly plugged into the back of my TV, and the power cord and DC are both plugged in..I'm using a 12V DC though because I don't have any 5V, which is labeled under the DC jack on the console. So I started looking for firmware to update it, then realized I don't even know what kind of Atari Flashback it is, it looks like the flashback 3 after searching Google images..but it's not labeled, it just says Atari flashback classic game console. It has a gold stripe on the front top and the joysticks do not have the 3 red buttons on the side of the base, just the fire button on top and the joystick. All the firmware updates I've skimmed say to plug a USB into the console, but my console does not have any USB ports , only the 2 joystick ports on the front and the 1 DC jack on the back next to the power cord which doesn't come out. I've attached photos because I know one of the experts here will know what kind it is by seeing it. 🕹️ Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated!! 🙂 Can someone please tell me what kind of Atari this is so I can get the correct firmware to update it if needed? Anyone else experience this problem, what was your fix??

Hi everyone, I bought my dad an Atari Flashback 9 for christmas for us to play together. We plugged it in today and the video worked okay but there was no sound. After plugging it into multiple tvs and ports I found out that our menu was also different. I have the AR3230 model which uses composite cables, but the ports we plugged everything into are known to be functional. I'm not sure what else to do, is there a way to get the good menu and to fix the sound not working? The only suggestions on AtGames are to turn up the volume or to unplug and replug the audio cable.

SuperCharger Space Invaders Boys and Girls picks up where Beta 4 left off with increasingly progressive action and interactive immersive soundscapes that draw you into the game! Gameplay: It's Space Invaders but now they've got the shields and there's less time so dodge fast and try to hit everything! Weapons: You are equipped with dual laser cannons that fire multicolor bursts in parallel - the second shot will continue to seek a target after the first one hits something. Goal: How many levels can you clear? How many without being hit? The game pink screens when you are hit and red screens when you lose (you may be able to recover), eventually disintegrating into a kaleidoscopic demo over time. Help expand the study: Take both game ROM's for an immersive test run (clear at least 5 levels), do you agree with the test group? If participating in the study please indicate if you used a classic Atari console, a Retron77 running Stella 6 and/or the latest build of Stella with enhanced sound, or an Atari Flashback or earlier version of Stella, or another emulator. I just tried Tempest 4000 for the Xbox One, and I think the controls are awful, but only on "round" levels. Sometimes I press left to go right when stopped. Also I thought a more appropriate control is to use the analog stick as a radial control. Just roll the left stick to indicate the position along the orbit where you are, not left to go anticlockwise, right to go clockwise. You got analog controls. Why not use them? For the modern systems, why isn’t there a 2600-> PS4 and a 2600->X1. They obviously make them for PC. You need them for Paddles, Trackballs, Spinners, Indy 500 controller, and Keypad (maybe, but a USB numeric would work too). Since Nintendo makes Labo kits, why not Atari make a plastic Labo-like Joycon attachment. First Paddle games already work with Switch Wheel. If you keep both hands on the wheel, there is a natural limit to how far clockwise and anticlockwise you can rotate it. Second for Trackball games, a Joycon could be placed in a hamster ball for trackball games, and have radio controller manaul button pressers for the up to 6 buttons on the Single Joycon. Third, a similar setup, except with a cylinder for Major Havok. Fourth, a joycon could be put in a similar device with a wheel that you spin. Finally, for the light gun games, a visible light "camera gun" could be used to literally shoot the targets, instead of using a cursor that centers automatically. Do other people agree with me, that Atari controls on modern systems are not well thought out with the default controllers? The analog stick does like to center, and I think that hurts most Atari analog games, especially paddle games.

On November 26th, NY Times published an article on it's website called "From Atari (Remember It?), a New Console With Old Games." This is an interesting take on the Flashback from the point of view of someone who isn't an Atari fan. It's always good to see an Atari console making the news-- even if it's a remake of the console. You can read the article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/24/business/atari-flashback-video-games.html What's your idea of the Flashback and how it's represented in the article? Adam

Just like it says...I own several Atari consoles (2600, 7800 & 5200) and am now considering a Flashback. In short I'd like to know which one (1 through 6?) you like the best and why you would recommend it. In addition, if someone has a Flashback that accepts actual 2600 carts and would like to part with it, (maybe to make some $$ for the upcoming Flashback Portable), I would be interested in making an offer. Thanks everyone and happy gaming! -Steve

Based on this news story, AtGames is bringing some sort of Intellivision product to retail, and also digital and consoles. AtGames makes the plug n play style games including Atari Flashback. Is it safe to assume an Intellivision version is coming? I bought this Atari light sixer about 10 years ago before I even heard of the flash back. It came with paddle controllers with the tennis racket logo on them. The controllers were in excellent condition, I thought I just got lucky and got really nice controllers. But the jack is a very tight fit, almost to the point of breaking the port when I plug them in. The joystick is also a very tight fit. The person I had bought them from said they were original controllers, but now I'm thinking they are not. Are these Flashback controllers? Did I get swindled? Or do we, as Atari enthusiasts, actually want Flashback controllers?
