Hello, I am a new member at Atariage despite my frequently viewing the site I would like to know other's opinions on which arcade ports are best so that I have an idea of what to purchase in the future In terms of best, accuracy does not bother me too much- as long as the game is enjoyable After searching online a bit, I have become interested in the following games: Battlezone Gravitar Phoenix Ms. Pac-Man Crystal Castles Joust and of course many more =) I own a few common ones such as Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Missile Command, and Popeye- its only that I hope to expand my library with my favorite genre of games; Arcade =D I would love to hear any comments, recommendations, or any other feedback Thanks in advance

Envision yourself as a typical teenager in 1977. It had been raining all about and your family had decided to remain home. You had been fortunate enough to own an Atari VCS/2600 and the 9 launch titles- of those titles, which would you most likely play? *Please select one single player game, and one multiplayer Personally, I would have to go with Star Ship for single player, and Indy 500 for two player

There is a 130XE on eBay listed to have a 'Best Heavy Upgrade" and has a toggle switch in the upper left corner of the top of the console. Seller has no idea what it is. I looked on the Best site and found nothing like that. Any ideas?

RevEng and I have worked together in bringing better emulation accuracy to MESS for the 7800 system. Both NTSC and PAL regions have benefited which has been publicly made available in the recently released MESS 0.153. For more technical details please see this post by RevEng, the mastermind behind many of the great improvements to 7800 emulation. Some game highlights...One-On-One Basketball, Commando, Double Dragon, Planet Smashers, Midnight Mutants, Hat Trick, Xevious, Dig Dug, Centipede, Kung-Fu Master, even protos like Plutos look, run, and play excellently. Homebrews seen improvements as well with previously graphical issues with Crazy Brix's 'Brix' are fixed containing proper gradual color shift. Movement of characters under Beef Drop emulates the real hw - not slower or faster. Worm! starts and plays without issue. Extra RAM demos/carts such as "Soft Cell - Tainted Love" and "Multi-Lock On" work perfectly. Other ROMs that no 7800 emulator could run before - such as the 7800 Diagnostic Test cart, runs under MESS now. Here are the needed ROM files with proper headers: Diagnostic Test Cartridge (19xx) (Atari) !.zip Multilockon.zip Softcell.zip Attached is a sampling of the aforementioned games. They are captured from MESS 0.153 with a few CRT simulation effects turned on inside a window.

There are lots of great video game systems out there. Please think about all the great systems you've played over the years and pick one from the poll which happens to be your favorite. Perhaps share a few memories in the thread below, as well as your thoughts on why you picked that system amongst all the choices.

I need some help on a project i'm working on, which would be making an old "Combat" cart into a different cart... Now don't worry, I'm not doing this to resell it as a "Super Rare" Game, just as a kind of title credit to a short film i'm working on. Steps including template for printing? Pasting the printed image on the cart (Best bonding solution, that won't bleed through)

Following an idea by Kevan I saw in the TI99/4A forum, I decided to start this poll so all Colecovision fans can vote for his/her favorite 2012 Colecovision game and of course comment your decision here. The number of released games in 2012 rise up to the astounding number of 24 new games! (please correct me if I'm wrong) In the TI99/4A forum they are going to send a small trophy or plaque to the author of the winning game. That's an interesting idea. Anyway, I'm only starting the poll, if someone or a group wants to give a kind of prize they're free to take their decision As only one game can be voted, votes aren't public. Enjoy it! EDIT: I'll keep it open until Sep/21/2013 if I can find out how to close it

Is there an annual BEST NEW GAME category anywhere for the TI-99/4A? If not, I'd like to see a BEST PROGRAMS of the YEAR award. It would be great to see some of these guys get some major recognition. If something like this could be organized, I'd be willing to PayPal a few bucks to chip in for a couple plaques or a trophy and the postage to send the winner the prize. Quite simply, without these guys, the TI would have withered and died on the vine. For example, a category for software could even have subcategories like: 1) Best new UTILITY 2) Best new GAME (for example Titanium) I'm not sure how often it would be given out, but a best new HARDWARE ITEM category would be cool too. I'd love to see what you all have to say about this.

http://youtu.be/xZpZVm8I8Jc My good friend Reggie comes by to talk about one of his favorite handhelds: the NEO GEO Pocket Color. This competitor to the Gameboy Color didn't make much of a splash, but it has a hardcore dedicated fan base today and some great games for it. Do you own this little handheld? And what games do you recommend?

(Before commencing: I'm looking for open ended advice on laying out memory as a whole subject, feel free to add your own ideas, even if not addressed by my questions. Perhaps this may become a good reference article) When assembly programming, I am sat there with a pen and paper, planning out how I am going to lay out the RAM for my program and all of it's data. Occasionally I rejig it, moving blocks around. Do any of you have a best practice which you apply when deciding how to lay out RAM? My Perl based build system is pretty good at the moment and I am toying with the idea of having a parseable .csv file to decide how to lay out memory. Has anyone else done this before? People mention that they switch out the OS for extra memory. 1) How? 2) What is the knock-on effect of this, do I have to rewrite OS routines such as PMG collision detection and anything else in high RAM? Is this more trouble than it is worth? 3) Any tips in general?
