Hello, first topic to the forums, please excuse me if I unknowingly break some rules. I would like to see if anyone has an Atari 800XL they would be willing to part with, complete with power supply and maybe some software (this would be my first unit of this type). Please respond to this topic or pm me to discuss details. My goal is to have a working unit in decent, but not necessarily perfect, condition. For reference, I live in the US and am looking for a US NTSC unit. Thanks for reading, any tips or ideas are appreciated.

Here's a photo of my Amiga A1200, the final Amiga microcomputer from Commodore after the A500 and A600 (of course, there were also desktop Amiga computers with more expansion capabilities, but I like the micros) which came out in 1992. It's running Workbench 3.1 which is installed on an 8GB SanDisk Compact Flash card in an IDE-CF adapter, and I have a mild expansion in the form of a DKB Cobra accelerator with a 28Mhz 68030 and 64MB RAM. -

Is it possible to hook up an atari 2600 to a Mac computer without modifications? If not, what mods or alternatives can I make to play my atari on my Mac without using an emulator?

I am on the west coast, Los Angeles. I want to buy an Atari 800XL or 130XE. I need to make sure it will work with an s-video cable. In Atari 800XL versions produced before August of 1984, this cable will not work. This can also be checked with the version of Atari BASIC (This would be listed as Rev C but not all Rev C versions support S-Video) Thanks!

Been looking for an Atari 800 or similar spec XL/XE model. Prefer XL/XE model, but will take the old style too! Ebay prices are either way too out there for me for what's being offered or Sold 'As Is and Untested' which I always kind of read as 'doesn't work and I'm selling my junk to you! Ahahaha!' Also interested in an SD Cart of SD Drive for it, but I'm finding those for more reasonable prices online so not required! Found one from an offer here! Thanks for checking~

Okay, so I am a huge science fiction nut, from Asimov to Herbert to Adams. But I dont just love Science Fiction books, I love movies and television too, like Blade Runner, and Star Trek. Another big thing I love is Science Fiction in video games and i cant think of a decade of more science fiction in gaming than the Eighties. If you are digging in a pile of atari games and pick put a random cart, id say 9/10 its going to be at least something sci fi releated (most likely a Space Invaders clone but thats neither here nor there) like space or robots or aliens. Now my question is which books or rather which decade of books would you say inspired these science fiction stories found in the manuals of these old games? I just love these stories and id love to read full books like them! This doesnt have to be atari necessarily, arcades work too!

Hi, I am just learning my way around the 7800 scene. And I used to be more active in the Colecovision scene. But I had not enough time for so many different Consoles. My main systems are the C64 & Atari 2600 so it just seemed natural when I needed to replace my 2600 to get a 7800. I really think there's a lot of potential with the 7800 but as I am new I don't know how big the Homebrew base is that would support more homebrew projects. So I started this thread to put out there what I would like to see done. I really would like to see more classic 80's arcade ports like in the Colecovision scene. But I also would like to see some multiplayer strategy games like M.U.L.E, that I think was on the 5200 and some classic games like Archon, Mail order Monsters. Anyway this is just my humble attempt to get the conversation started between 7800 gamers & home brew developers. Thanks to all who contribute.

The system is either not detecting the Flashrom or SD card, what could be the problem?

I've been following eBay listings for a while now and prices seem to be all over the map, so I was just wondering if you guys and gals might be able to offer me some guidance on what a reasonable price I should expect to pay for a tested and working nice condition Atari 800XL with power supply would be? For reference when I say "nice condition" I mean no yellowing of the case, all keys and rubber feet present and accounted for, and minimal scratching on the housing and chrome side keys. Not brand new or like-new, just well cared for and in good shape. I should also note that this isn't a want to buy ad, since it'll probably be some time in late summer or early fall before I'll be in the position to purchase one of these computers, I'm just trying to do a little market research ahead of time to figure out what I should expect to pay.
