My fingers are still shaking as I type this, my cheeks are flush and numb, and I still wonder if I'm in a dream. Just today, the best deal I've ever gotten in my life showed up online. A huge stack of rare Atari ST computers from a retired computer repair guy. The moment the seller replied to me with his address, I was calling an uber and heading out to meet him. Tsunamis of adrenaline were crashing across my body during the long ride to meet him. It all worked out though, and I'm beyond elated! As the AVGN said in his Swordquest video "Not since the medieval times have I heard of a treasure of this scale!" I got: 4 Atari Falcons (1 being an MK1?) 2 Mega STe computers 3 1040 STe computers 1 Mega 4 ST computer. 4 Atari ST mice 2 Atari Mega ST keyboards 1 Mega STe/TT keyboard And various cords. How much did I pay for it all? 600 Canadian!

Hi fellow Atarian's, need some help, I purchased a Falcon 030 a few years back. It was in a terrible state after being rescued from a rack mount hack of some kind. The top case was damaged, HDD mount missing and the upper top shield was cut in half for some reason and is missing the right half. Was wondering if someone had an upper shield either for sale or if you could post some detailed photos and measurements/schematic of it in the hope I can get one manufactured? I would love to restore it back to factory as close as possible, Thanks!

I was wondering if there was any homebrew games developed for the TT/Falcon? So Far, the only one that was made was a racing game with digitized graphics.

THIS IS NOW SOLD. I’m selling my Atari Falcon 030, UK model, working perfectly. Nice and clean looking unit from a smoke free home. Was planning to sell it over at eBay but decided to offer it here. It has an expanded memory with 14 MB RAM and has been fully recapped, refurbished and cleaned inside and out. For usability and convenience purposes, the original hard drive has been replaced with a 1 GB compact flash card. I don’t have a proper monitor atm, so I plugged the unit to my old CRT television (screen quality and adjustment's a bit poor) but you can see the unit’s working as it should. Includes a scart cable, power cable (EUR) and boot disks for CF drive. It has some preinstalled software, too (games and such). Please see the attached pictures. Asking price is 1400 €. Falcon ships from Finland. Buyer pays the shipping costs. Paypal accepted (either F&F or G&S if you cover the fee).

I was searching for days for a decent Atari Falcon poster.. but came out with nothing, so, yesterday night I decided to create my own Atari Falcon poster... I bet my Falcon will be pleased. So OK, I followed some links on AtariAge, and found some ST demos, .. I'm pretty sure that I need an ST now... The music especially blew me away... Now before I ask this, let me say up front, I have Googled best Atari ST Everything, but I am hoping to get input from Real ST owners, about what they actually USE daily. Confession: I am an Amiga nut (turned slightly Atari ST nut) 'Must Have programs'? (Heck, even general utilities and such, TOS switch etc.) One thing in particular, are there any music programs on the ST For Beginners? (I took piano lessons when I was younger, total FAIL!) Are there any Good 3d graphics/animation programs for the ST? (Lightwave 3D on Amiga spoiled me!?!) Any programs to convert 2d/3D graphics files from Amiga to Atari ST? Can ST's be networked? What program (s) support networks? What is the maximum RAM that can be added to (any model of) an ST, including the Falcon? Anything else I need to know before I take the plunge.... And CURSE you Atari! Another system I am obsessed with!

Hi guys! I and my friend decided to bring something new to you. The joystick. But we need some feedback before it. Description: We decided to find out a way how to make new Atari Joysticks and similar joysticks with 3D printer. We try to have as similar as possible construction for the same impression of playing games like the original old joysticks. But we have one thing in our construction different. Our Stick will be exchangeable and modulable. We will have more types of sticks and you can choose what type you want. Sticks will have different shape, size etc. Our questions are: 1) Is this idea interesting for you? 2) Are you looking for some new joystick because your old was damaged? 3) What types of sticks do you prefer? What joysticks do you like? What was your favourite joystick in 80/90's? ( CX40, QuickShot etc. ) 4) Would you like exchangeable stick at your joystick ( when you will get tired of the old type of stick you can simply change it for another one ) or you'd rather buy another new joystick when you want to exchange the stick? 5) Is the autofire function important for you? 6) How long stick movement do you prefer? ( short movement is like pressing a small button, long movement is like pressing a key on your keyboard ) 7) Do you like an idea that you can buy only the 3D data for your 3D printer and make it for your own? 8) Do you have some tips why this idea doesn't make sense? Hi I apologize if this is a common question but a search didnt yield any good matches. I have a reasonable collection of atari's but frankly havent been really using them much. Recently I got a Falcon and installed a new CF card in it from Best. I wanted to transfer a bunch of games to it that I have either sitting on my mac or that is on an SD that is formatted / works with an ultrasatan controller on a regular ST. I tried the SD with the falcon and it doesnt recognize it (people in the know are probably laughing at me now saying they are of course totally different). How does one "en-mass" copy stuff from an old ST Hard disk (effectively) to a falcon? Thanks in advance. humbly Chris

So i've been playing and collecting Atari for about 15ish years now, gaming for about 10 longer (NES). I have a strong appreciation for vintage computers and here is what I have currently. Apple Macintosh Apple IIc Apple IIgs I was thinking of getting an ST, or a Falcon 030. The falcon specifically because it was the last and most powerful computer Atari made. Though they are rarer and more expensive I like the idea that I can do more with it. My Apple IIGS certainly gets more use than my IIc. I know the 800 is fun and cheap but i'd want to start with something more modern. Is there another ST that's "close enough" and more cost effective, or should is is worth the extra bucks to go whole hog and buy an upgraded one for $1k from B&C? Anywhere else worth looking to buy one of these (STE/Falcon)? Besides playing games, I like to use old computers for word processing, doing my finances/taxes, and running other fun programs that I don't necessarily need to do on a web-connected machine. I also print my journal on a dot matrix printer and save in a binder for posterity. Thanks!

BadMooD 'beta' got released today for Falcon: http://devilsdoorbell.com/binary-downloads/ No CT60 version yet - plain machine with 14mb only. Will get around to it though! Find setup instructions etc. on the site. Recommend reading at least the basics first. d.m.l

Noticed there's a few guys having issues getting setup with their new NetUSBee devices, so figured I'd post a few easy-to-find hints to explain what I managed to work out. Basically I followed the instructions here: http://hardware.atari.org/sfl/index.htm, though I didn't change my PC config (as per step 4) and gave the Atari an IP of 192.168.0.101 since my router sits on .0.1. Then I needed to manually edit the STing routing table, which I laid out like so (I think from memory the filename was routes.tab): <Atari IP> 255.255.255.0 EtherNet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 EtherNet <Router IP> And finally I needed to specify a DNS server IP in the main STing config file, which I think is default.cfg, but again I'll double check. Find the line for NAMESERVER and set it to 8.8.8.8 or your preferred server. Once I'd done all that I figured up AtarIRC, it resolved the server correctly and I was online!

In case you've missed the news Douglas Little has released an 'alpha' version of BadMooD, a fully playable Doom conversion enhanced for Falcon030. You'll need the WAD file(s) from the original game but the BadMooD binary download is hosted here: http://devilsdoorbell.com The game requires a stock (unaccelerated) Falcon030 with 14 MB of RAM. As it's the first release there are some features to be implemented, some bugs and a wish list too! If you have programming or graphics experience and would like to help then let us know through the above website! Source will be released, but probably not for a month or two while things are tidied up. A BadMooD specific level with enhanced graphics is possible. See the download binary for more Readme information.

Booting the Falcon's internal hard drive

Hey all, I decided to drag out my ol' Falcon to do a little C programming on it. In addition to the internal hard drive, it also has an external SCSI one. I booted it up the other day and the hard drives were there and accessible. After pulling out a ton of floppies to see what I had, I noticed that the falcon wasn't showing the hard drives and appears to be booting to the default desktop. I'm assuming that either I need driver disks at boot time in the floppy, the drivers on the hard drive got corrupted, or the drive itself went end up on me. I found a bunch of system disks for the Falcon but none said, "Hard Drive disk" and the Falcon manual I have doesn't really say that I need drivers. So, instead of a bunch of trial and error, I thought I seek advice. Any ideas what the issue is and how best to resolve it? I really don't care about what's on the disk since it seem that most software is available for it online.- 17 replies

So I finally have a Falcon 030 winging it's way to me, and I'm hoping to hell it's not DOA. The seller listed it as 'not work / for parts' because of it's age but did say it's working 100%. He looks to have packed it well so I can only sit, wait and hope. In the mean time I've been reading up on network connectivity and it seems like the NETUS-Bee replaced the EtherNEC, but neither are available for purchase. What's the best move now, use the NETUS-Bee plans and look at building one? Also any info on RAM upgrades, HDD upgrades and even FPUs would be appreciated, i.e. what works and where to get 'em. Cheers

I am receiving a Falcon here soon and I have some questions. I briefly owned a falcon maybe 10 or 12 years ago, however I was new to it and didn't really get the Atari way of doing things. So I sold it shortly after. Since then I have gained quite a bit of ST experience, so I feel more comfortable with revisiting it. On to my questions: 1. What's the best overall monitor solution for the Falcon? Do I really need both a VGA monitor for Falcon specific stuff and a separate ST monitor for ST low stuff? 2. Speaking of ST stuff, is there much Falcon patched ST games and demo's available for the Falcon? 3. Where can I buy a new or used replacement case and US or UK keyboard for the Falcon? The one I am receiving had its case painted as it was yellowed. I already checked Best and B&C's website and didn't see anything. I would rather keep the desktop case rather than a rack or tower conversion. 4. As a Falcon noob, anything else I should know/consider before making the plunge? Thanks! todd
