  1. I am receiving a Falcon here soon and I have some questions. I briefly owned a falcon maybe 10 or 12 years ago, however I was new to it and didn't really get the Atari way of doing things. So I sold it shortly after. Since then I have gained quite a bit of ST experience, so I feel more comfortable with revisiting it. On to my questions: 1. What's the best overall monitor solution for the Falcon? Do I really need both a VGA monitor for Falcon specific stuff and a separate ST monitor for ST low stuff? 2. Speaking of ST stuff, is there much Falcon patched ST games and demo's available for the Falcon? 3. Where can I buy a new or used replacement case and US or UK keyboard for the Falcon? The one I am receiving had its case painted as it was yellowed. I already checked Best and B&C's website and didn't see anything. I would rather keep the desktop case rather than a rack or tower conversion. 4. As a Falcon noob, anything else I should know/consider before making the plunge? Thanks! todd
  2. You might have seen some weird things happening the last few days, we're sorry but we've all been terribly busy. But now that we're mostly done we can make a public announcement: We have moved servers yet again! So what does it mean to you? - Better speeds! - The base URL has changed slightly: It's now http://dbug.kicks-ass.net/ instead of http://dbug.kicks-ass.net/dbug/ - The RSS feed link has changed to http://dbug.kicks-ass.net/rss.php (only Chrome still seems not to like it but since W3C's feed validator says it's ok, Chrome can go **** off ) - The forum URL remains the same. - http://dbug.atari.org redirector has also been fixed. We're still fixing up dead links from the site, but they're so many of them we might miss a few! Contact us if you want something that points to a bad link! Many thanks to Linkvitch of U-235 for the gracious providing of web space and stuff Oh, and as a gift to all you that bore with us, here's Roller Coaster Rumbler all fixed up and ready to run from your machines' hard drives .
  3. Hey all, I decided to drag out my ol' Falcon to do a little C programming on it. In addition to the internal hard drive, it also has an external SCSI one. I booted it up the other day and the hard drives were there and accessible. After pulling out a ton of floppies to see what I had, I noticed that the falcon wasn't showing the hard drives and appears to be booting to the default desktop. I'm assuming that either I need driver disks at boot time in the floppy, the drivers on the hard drive got corrupted, or the drive itself went end up on me. I found a bunch of system disks for the Falcon but none said, "Hard Drive disk" and the Falcon manual I have doesn't really say that I need drivers. So, instead of a bunch of trial and error, I thought I seek advice. Any ideas what the issue is and how best to resolve it? I really don't care about what's on the disk since it seem that most software is available for it online.

  5. I was wondering if there was any homebrew games developed for the TT/Falcon? So Far, the only one that was made was a racing game with digitized graphics.

  7. Album: "aTTraction" by Yerzmyey. Released in March 2016. Chiptune/micromusic songs as well as MOD-like/digital and MIDI music from classic ATARI computers (Falcon 030, Atari TT, Atari ST/MIDI and Atari 600XL). DOWNLOAD FULL ALBUM: http://yerzmyey.i-demo.pl/attraction/yerzmyey-attraction2016.zip Tracklist: 01. Yerzmyey - aTTraction (ATARI TT) 02. Yerzmyey - Globular Cluster (ATARI 520ST and Roland MT32) 03. Yerzmyey - Amai (ATARI FALCON 030) 04. Yerzmyey - Time Machine II (ATARI TT) 05. Yerzmyey - Inside a game (ATARI FALCON 030) 06. Yerzmyey - uTTerly unseTTling transmiTTal (ATARI TT) 07. Yerzmyey - Purple Galaxy (ATARI FALCON 030) 08. Yerzmyey - Bizarre creature (ATARI 520ST and Roland MT32) 09. Yerzmyey & Tfardy - Brutal attack (ATARI FALCON 030) 10. Yerzmyey - The missing piece (ATARI 600XL) / Bonus Track Total Time: 34:59 min. The idea behind this album was to collect all my songs made with 32-bit ATARI computers: Falcon 030 and Atari TT. Finally I decided to add also two songs made with the 16-bit machine - Atari 520ST - but those have been made in MIDI technique, using also the classic module - Roland MT32. All the songs have been recorded from real machines, the sound hasn't been changed. As the bonus track I added a song created with 8-bit computer - Atari 600XL - with heavy postproduction setup: track-by-track recording / filters / phasers / choruses / flangers / delays / echoes / reverbs / equalizers / compressors / limiters. Guitars on the 9th track "Brutal attack" by Tfardy. ATARI soft&hard used: Atari Falcon 030 (with 14Mb of RAM) - Digital Home Studio Atari TT (with 4Mb of RAM) - Hex Tracker Atari 520ST (with 4Mb of RAM) - Cubase Atari 600XL (with 256Kb or RAM) - Chaos Music Composer - NeoTracker. 8. Hi I apologize if this is a common question but a search didnt yield any good matches. I have a reasonable collection of atari's but frankly havent been really using them much. Recently I got a Falcon and installed a new CF card in it from Best. I wanted to transfer a bunch of games to it that I have either sitting on my mac or that is on an SD that is formatted / works with an ultrasatan controller on a regular ST. I tried the SD with the falcon and it doesnt recognize it (people in the know are probably laughing at me now saying they are of course totally different). How does one "en-mass" copy stuff from an old ST Hard disk (effectively) to a falcon? Thanks in advance. humbly Chris
  9. So i've been playing and collecting Atari for about 15ish years now, gaming for about 10 longer (NES). I have a strong appreciation for vintage computers and here is what I have currently. Apple Macintosh Apple IIc Apple IIgs I was thinking of getting an ST, or a Falcon 030. The falcon specifically because it was the last and most powerful computer Atari made. Though they are rarer and more expensive I like the idea that I can do more with it. My Apple IIGS certainly gets more use than my IIc. I know the 800 is fun and cheap but i'd want to start with something more modern. Is there another ST that's "close enough" and more cost effective, or should is is worth the extra bucks to go whole hog and buy an upgraded one for $1k from B&C? Anywhere else worth looking to buy one of these (STE/Falcon)? Besides playing games, I like to use old computers for word processing, doing my finances/taxes, and running other fun programs that I don't necessarily need to do on a web-connected machine. I also print my journal on a dot matrix printer and save in a binder for posterity. Thanks!
