  1. Looking to buy a TEAC 5.25" FD-55B Half-Height Floppy Drive for my TI-99/4a. Need the TEAC FD-55B (not the FD-55BR, 55GFR, etc). Thanks!
  2. I recently acquired a Peripheral Expansion Box for my TI-99/4A. The box is in pretty rough shape, so I thought I would tear it down, clean it up and reassemble... I'm running into some issues, however... Does the front plate (the plastic face) some how SNAP onto pegs or something, or do I have to unscrew it from behind? If the latter is the case, gaining access to the screws (apart from the ones in the middle) is proving difficult. Also, is there an easy way to gain access to the floppy to replace it (should I need to do that)? Oddly assembled beast... Any help would be appreciated! ~Scott
  3. I have an Indus GT floppy drive for sale. It's in fantastic shape. It's been in storage (inside a ziploc bag) for about the past 10 years. I don't have any Atari floppies to test with, but it does power up and seek to track 39 after the self test. I'm only guaranteeing against DOA, but I'll be really surprised if it doesn't work. I looked around and I can't find another for sale on the internet. Not saying there aren't some, I just couldn't find any in a quick look around with google.. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 301055276718 I hate to give it up, but it's been in storage for so long, it's unrealistic to think I'll get around to it. In far more mundane news, I also have an auction for a 130 XE with 1050 that are also iin equally excellent condition. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 301055289614
  4. I'm throwing together a "Franken-PC" from older parts with an internal 1.44MB 3.5 floppy drive for archiving and/or creating floppy disks for my recently acquired 4MB 1040STE. As documented HERE. This made me think... Besides the popular 1050-2-PC process (SIO2PC interface attached to a Atari floppy drive), is there software out there similar to the ST world's FloImg that can make use of a PC with an internal 1.2MB 5.25" floppy for creating/archiving Atari 8-bit disks? Lump
  5. This may be old news to some. The video is a few years old, and even I first stumbled across it about two years ago. Anyway its pretty freaking awesome and since I haven't seen it hear yet I thought I'd post it. There is actually a bunch of these and some may be better. More drives and different songs, but this is my favorite.
  6. I have seen those tape/floppy drives that slot into the cartridge slot looking space on the side of the unit, but I have been having a hard time finding them on Ebay and when I do, they are always very expensive. Are there any other ways to do this?
  7. What floppy disk controllers are you currently using? I actually did not expect that the original TI disk controller is still in use, given the lot of alternatives. Edit: OK, that Poll post obviously failed... I typed in all options in "Manage topic poll", but the poll does not show up here ... ? What am I missing?
  8. Hello all retro Atari users, I haven't used my Atari for around a year now. I hooked everything up yesterday, and the Atari 800XL still works fine. However I am having severe issues with the disk drive. I was able to load one of my homemade Basic programs and some songs that I had composed. However, any further attempts to load any games, Dos, or reload the Basic program have failed. I get g4 and g5 errors on the drive on ANY disc that I am trying to load. I do not know much about drive maintenance (my young age relative to 8-bit computers may be involved). I do not know if I should try cleaning the head or if I need to put some kind of grease in the rails where the head moves. I know that the information on the disks is still intact (for the most part anyway), because I was able to load several things on my floppy disk, and later it would try to load and after a few beeps would give the error "blurp". After repeated attempts, it won't correctly load anything anymore, so that's why I think it's a drive maintenance issue. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, James
