Hey All, To help round out my Jaguar AV adapters, I'm working on a new product that will output 720p through HDMI called the Jag2HD. It's not a cheap project, so the initial batch will be small. I'm gauging interest to see if it's worth making more. Features: Plug and Play, no other adapters needed Analog RGB to Digital HDMI upscaled to 720p No external power source needed Low input lag HDMI comes out the side to accommodate the Jaguars length and shallow entertainment shelves Aspect Ratio: 4:3 or 16:9 (for you crazy people out there) Works with Jaguar GameDrive Custom designed 3D printed shell Competitively priced compared to multiple cables + scaler solutions (Above: Prototype may change, will most likely be printed in black)

Hi everyone! I am attempting to play an Atari 2600 on a modern-day television. Specifically, on the LG - 77" Class CX Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV. Its specs are a little different than your average digital TV, I believe. At least different enough to not be compatible with the recommendations I see for using an upscaler. Because it's not a 60hz TV; it's 120hz. And apparently that causes...interface problems with upscalers most ppl are using. So that's fun, right? LOL.... There is also some question as to HDMI being used, tho I am not entirely clear on the reasons associated with that. This model encompasses both HDMI 2.0 as well as HDMI 2.1 (thank goodness)....which other LG OLED models do not. Apparently HDMI 2.0 is getting "phased out"....but this model, thankfully, still allows its use! Something else of note....is the "Resolution" with this model. It's listed at 2160p (not 1080p)......is that unusual? I expected it to be 1080p. And since that is double what other models I've seen list, how does that impact use of an upscaler, or even use of an Open Source Scan Converter (OSSC) in this process of getting the Atari 2600 to play (well) on this model of TV? Here are the full specs of the TV in question, the one that will be used to play the Atari 2600 on. Hey peeps. I suddenly became interested in gaming options with NEC. I want to.be able to play Cd games and play foreign and US hu-cards. I also want to play them on my 4k tv. What do I look for without breaking the bank? (lol)

I finally got around to install Sophia 2 into my Atari 600XL NTSC. Since I didn't want to make any destructive changes, I made a simple mini HDMI breakout board and installed it where the RF channel 2/3 switch was located. Here are some pictures of the installation: I hope it's interesting or useful to people that might want to do something similar. Now it's time to figure out how to get audio output ? Regards, Carlos

I had spent quite a considerable amount of time looking for a nice HDMI upscaler for my now UAV retrofitted Atari 1200XL. The UAV did wonders for the video output, but it was ultimately let down by HDMI (or built in TV) upscalers which assumed much more on-spec video signals, with chroma and luma tolerances that react well to run of the mill comb filters. I bought the Pro version which, in addition to the CVBS to HDMI upscaling, adds support for S-Video (Y/C), Component (YbPbPr), and a few filter options which allow you to fine tune the input signal, even more. It's this guy: and you can get it here: https://www.retrotink.com/product-page/retrotink-2x-pro As you can see, it's very cost effective, compared to the Micom XRGB Framemeister, OSSC, and other upscaling solutions. How does it look? When combined with the output from my UAV modified 1200XL, the results are breathtaking. For both S-Video and Composite, the chroma to luma alignment is excellent! S-Video (Y/C) And with a nice separated chroma/luma signal, the sharpness is striking: close-up, apologies for the moire pattern. Output from PLATOTERM, Text is nice and crisp, and since it's not on Y/C, no color fringing! The P/M color overlays in ICE-T look very nice. Crisp rainbow transitions with zero fuzz in Rainbow Walker: for Ninja, the low contrast portions of background to foreground pop very nicely: Even in scenes with quick luma transitions, the upscaler does a good job with the notch filter to not introduce luma combs: COMPOSITE (CVBS) With composite, the results hold up almost as well, with the major difference being the introduction of unavoidable chroma artifacting, which, because of the well behaved notch filter, keeps luma distortion to a minimum, and makes artifact color look fantastic, as we can see here: With Jawbreaker, maze and dots render well... Let's zoom in on the jawbreaker lives, a nightmare for most composite decoders, note the smoothness: Chicken looks good, too: As does Ae 5200: And to finish, let's go back to the Rainbow Room in Ninja, with the problematic pattern that makes composite decoders cry: Beautiful, 'innit? And it really is a good thing that Mike Chi is a good guy who has a _very_ solid understanding of video signals, he has produced a solid upscaler for a decent price that will get you a superb output, especially if you've gone ahead and placed in a UAV. -Thom

I would like to start a thread about the current state of paddles, in the world of HD playing. Here is what I know about the state of paddles as of Nov 3, 2018: I would be really great if someone would report on the paddle functionality of the Retron77. AtGames manufactured paddles, wired: AtGames sells Atari replica paddles on their web site for $29.95 plus shipping. I own these paddles, they feel great and work perfectly with the 2600 and Flashback 8. As per the AtGAmes website they are compatible with many other flashbacks, but not the Flashback 9. AtGames manufactured paddles, for Atari Bast vol 3, wireless: These paddles will only sync to the enclosed dongle. They feel and work very nice. Unfortunately this dongle game system has many problems. I owned one, then returned it to Walmart. Problems: Sound: sometimes there would be no sound Sound: when the sound worked is was horrible. Pong with bad sound is not worth playing. Play: this system lacks difficulty left, and difficulty right switches. According to the AtGamesBlast web site the controller has difficulty switches, but in truth it does not! Game selection: there are only 13 cartridges emulated on the dongle, not 20 as advertised. 3 and 4 player games, according to my correspondence with AtGames if you want to play simultaneous 3 or 4 player games (black jack, video Olympics, warlords) a special set of paddles, made by AtGames, must be used, unfortunately AtGames sells no such paddles. Flashback 8 Pros: Paddle games on this system work great, no lag, nice game selection Flashback 8 works with original Atari paddles and the AtGames paddles Cons: The Flashback 8 system can not play cartridges or additional games via SD card slot. Flashback 9 (Paddles will not work with this system) Problems: According to a Youtube video posted by, "John Hancock" paddles do not work with this system. John Hancock states in this video that AtGames will release special compatible paddles. There is no mention of this on the AtGames website or in the intructions included with the Flashback 9 system. Flashback 9 Gold (Paddles will not work with this system) This system has a dedicated paddle games menu! I own this system here are the Problems I found: Original Atari paddles do not work on this system. AtGames Atari replica paddles do not work on this system. The enclosed paper instructions simply state, "Please plug your paddle controllers into each controller port on the game console." This does not work. SD card paddle games do not work Before playing a paddle game there are instructions on the screen to plug the paddles into the console after the game starts, still the paddles do not work. This is a big disappointment, the paddle games worked great on the Flashback 8. Hopefully AtGames will release download to fix this problem. There is no mention of special compatible paddles on the AtGames website. There is no mention of special compatible paddles on the Flashback 9 Gold instruction sheet.

Has anyone used this and how is it compared to the retrotink 2x? I see it's a knock off of it. I need it primarily to record C64 games by plugging it in to elgato HD, I play on CRT.

Hey all! I'll be getting my Sega Master System pretty soon. I'm so psyched about it! Does anyone here do modding for the system? ...HDMI, capacitor replacement, or the beloved FM synthesizer mod? I look forward to your posts! Thanks!

Hi, do you have experience with Ambery S-Video to HDMI Converter Scaler (item#DVH3). I'm mainly concerned about the conversion lag, is it something to worry about ? I have tested their S-Video to VGA converter, I'm ok with the image quality but for the future use the HDMI seems to be better option. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Peter

Heyo! The same company that did the HDMI for Xbox adapter (Pound Technology) is working on a PS1 / PS2 HDMI cable. For whatever reason, it's available for pre-order through Limited Run Games. (Not dogging on them, just seems an odd choice for this type of product.) https://limitedrungames.com/products/pound-technology-ps2-ps1-hdmi-cable Heavy Metal Jesus did a preview of it as well. What little I can see there, I'd gladly use this for a PS1 setup, but I would probably stick to component for PS2. Figured I'd share just in case you missed it during all the Mega Sg hype!

I've seen these units around for years, especially in the Bed, Bad and Beyond stores as well as the odd Toys R Us. Never felt inclined to pick those up, mostly due to the limited number of games and the semi-poor reviews on the controllers. So I kept using my 7800s to play the cartridges I wanted. On and off I'd be tempted to grab an Intellivision Flashback (don't play InTV that much), Colecovision (no Donkey Kong), and the 10 versions of the Atari one. Every time I would just put it back on the shelf after thinking it over. Kept also looking for a cheap Flashback 2, but realistically I don't think I would ever add a cartridge slot. I had an eye out for the Flashback 8 Activision edition just because it has pretty sizeable list of games and most of the Activision games. Well, I saw one at the local Walmart and did an impulse purchase of the Flashback 8 Gold. It was not the Activision edition, but it had some titles. What grabbed me was the HDMI connection ... So some thoughts: - I was surprised to see some M-Network games, especially Air Raiders which is one of my favourite games. Overall the list is pretty decent. - I'm very happy with the HDMI connection. It lets me keep my existing connections on my TV intact (i.e. leave my component for the 7800) so I just plug the unit into the AV receiver and am good to go. - The actual resolution (upscaled and no visible spacing between lines) is actually pretty good, and typically how I would I would play on the Stella emulator. - There are wireless joysticks which also allow to pause/rewind the game and give you the main menu functionality. I haven't put in batteries and tried these out. I've been just playing with my standard CX-40 joysticks and it works really well. - In regards to the wired joysticks, having the joystick ports in the front is really convenient. The button layout on the console is a bit odd, with the reset button the 2nd left button, and the select at the very right. There's no Color/BW button as far as I can tell, so not clear how Space Shuttle would work on a console like this. - The main menu is running at 720p and displays HD images of the boxes to select and gives you basic game instructions. It's fairly well done and also allows you to filter to just Atari and Activision games. - Frogger is some sort of arcade or newer console variation. I guess the Parker Bros rights could not be obtained. It looks great, but totally out of place with the Atari 2600 games. The thing that actually bothers me is the lack of in-game music in this version. It's also only single-player. - The Space Invaders is also a non-2600 variety. I didn't play it yet. It looks like the arcade edition. - On the emulation I started seeing some quirks; I especially noticed them in Frostbite where the ice floes would be partially rendered. The odd thing is that this is not just a visual glitch as the collision detection seems to respect the lack of graphic portion, so this totally impacted the game play. In Air Sea Battle, I saw a graphical shift at the right section of the screen for the rows (but not moving objects). - Since I got the non-Activision version, I started looking at ways I can potentially mod it. So opening it up, I see that it's an older generation Raspberry Pi and there's no USB port. On my list to-do for this week is to go to the electronics store and get some parts to do the same that BitMerge did: http://atariage.com/forums/gallery/image/25564-usb-connection/ - Apparently the full library of games is installed, but not enabled as per one of the comments on this post; http://www.instructables.com/id/Adding-Games-to-Atgames-Genesis-Flashback-HD/. That will be the goal to see if I can enable all Activision games, and enable all the other hidden ones (which ever those may be). I'll poke around to see how more roms could be added beyond that. I'll post back my findings once I have a USB connection enabled and see what I can find.

Connect your old Xbox to the HDMI port on your television without the use of any adapters or power supplies, just plug and play. Important to know that it doesn't upscale, but simply converts the component signal to HDMI. I test it with a bunch of games including some that run at 480P, 480i, 720P and 1080i. This is my review with gameplay footage.

I'm pretty happy with this thing, but it's definitely a huge investment of money, and you have to REALLY shove it in the back of your GameCube hard!

Hello! For those who didn't know, there is a Gamecube mod available to allow for video output superior to composite without paying for the ridiculously low quantity and overpriced component cable. I won't go into all the details, but basically someone dumped the information off of the fancy component cable and it's conversion chip that is in it. The information is freely available to read and use. Here's a link to the Github if you want to read more. You can find a couple different people showing the results on Youtube, and I'd like to say it just looks AMAZING via an HDMI cable. There's one example below of the amazing results but a not very amazing installation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyYyQy3oTPY&t=51s There are a couple people working on this project in various fashions, and there are a few major services to get this mod done, but they aren't looking overly healthy right now. BadAssConsoles has a preorder bit that's been up for around a year or so now, and he doesn't update consistently and has recently changed opinion from an internal mod to an external adapter. He's doing great work and all, but there's no real idea of when it'll get finished up. There is also VideoGamePerfection in the UK. They don't have nearly as ambitious a project going for this, but they're also so backed up on preorders that they have a waiting list for their waiting list. There's a few odd modders I've seen around that have their own plans in production, but there's not a good list to choose from of people to do it. Overall, I'm greatly interested in the mod. It offers HDMI for one of my favorite systems that doesn't have a great selection of options, and much like the N64, it doesn't really look great on HDTV via S-Video... Even through the Framemeister. With all this being stated and said, is there anybody who could possibly do this mod for me? I'd be willing to pay all the expenses needed and provide all the parts. I just don't feel confident in my soldering ability. I mean... I managed to replaced a power port on a couple SNES. That's about it. Here's the links below of some details plus the parts needed. (In case someone is interested in this for themselves and whatnot) Pluto FPGA Board - The circuit board that makes the magic happen! The one you'll want is the Pluto IIx . The site even sells some preprogrammed with the software. 3D Printable HDMI Mount - Link to the files for 3D printing a fancy plastic mount. Not required at all, but it looks really nice paired with the board. The Mod Details - The direct details to the mod itself on Github. Has anybody else been watching this?

Guys, I've heard about some type of device which allows one to connect old console to an HDTV via HDMI port. Is there such a device that works with Atari, and if so, what is it called? I have a HDMI plazma panel. I want to hook up my old console to HDMI.

SOLD NES top loader modded with HDMI kit REV 2. and LED added under the power switch. No fading or cracks - has some scuffs on the right side ( it hard to tell from the pics) And HDMI cutout isn't perfect, but otherwise very good condition. I performed this mod - if unit fails in the first two weeks after receiving, you can return it minus shipping. Almost ALL of these are sold as- is, no warranty. Even gametech doesn't warranty the mod kit. The top loader doesn't have the lock out chip - so no blinking screen problems. $325 for just the NES-101 (plus shipping - $15) $350 For the NES, aftermarket power adapter, aftermarket NES control pad and HDMI cable (plus shipping). These usually go for about $400 to $500 on eBay, I sold my last one for $375 on CL. - So I think the price Is pretty fair. My Feedback: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/262843-h454/?hl=%2Bh454&do=findComment&comment=3717871 http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=h454&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2050430.m2531.l4585 Any questions, please ask! SOLD - Thanks

Hi There, I have just developed a converter for the Amiga computer. This way you can connect your Amiga to a modern monitor or TV without having to use that annoying composite / tv interface. It's not done yet, as you can see, but I am pretty far along the project. Have a look . I will update this thread when I have updates. Regards, StaringL
