Hi, another little project is made by me: A SRAM-Charger board for the Indus GT drive (and compatible ones). This board enables the usage of CP/M inside the drive´s electronic (based on a Z80 CPU). The PCB is already tested and ready. Here are two pictures: Because this is a very special thing and I assume that not a huge amount of people want one, I want ask for your interest about such a board. The final price will be something between 8 and 12 Euros each. Please show your interest here, if you want one (or more). I will collect the answer for 2-3 weeks and will made some pieces then. They´re offered as my other projects then in my "info pdf". A very big "Thank you!" to Eric Bacher, who enables me to make this thing real. Best regards, Jurgen

Looking for Indus GT disk with GTDOC.COM on it
TheRealAnubis posted a topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi all, I'm working on an Atari Indus GT drive and I'd like to do more testing with a program that's mentioned in the Field Service Manual (Section 4 page 4-2) - GTDOC.COM. I looked on the only 2 disks that I have for the GT - DosXL and Data Manager and it's not on there. I don't have an SIO2PC, so the image that I've found (INDUSGTD.ATR) won't help me with the actual drive. Can anyone make me a copy of this disk? I would really appreciate it! Right now my drive reads fine, but won't format a disk - I'm getting the 'F9' error. I've tried multiple disks and changing the density selector on the back with the same failed result. Thank you!- 10 replies

While looking for that ever-elusive Toms 710, I stumbled into the utopia of Allegro, which is my new favourite thing. The multicarts! The turbo tapes! The banged up 800XEs by the dozen! Then there's the unique storage fauna of Central Europe -- which didn't appear to migrate to North America. Tragedy! I take it that this and this are Indus GT clones. And there's already a thread on this (which I've ordered), so we'll have to see that turns out. What are your favourite obscure storage media for the A8? I haven't yet seen any XC12 Turbo systems, but am waiting to pounce on the first one I see for sale.

Hi, I picked up an Atari IndusGT floppy drive that's not working (repair soon to come!), but I have a few questions about it as I've never owned one. 1. Can this make copies of games similar to the abilities of the 'happy' drives? 2. Does it use more of the floppy than the standard 1050? (formatted size is larger) 3. Other than looking cool, and having a track readout, what are the benefits of having one as opposed to a standard 1050? I know that I always wanted one for my C64, but to this point I've never laid eyes on one... Thanks!

Attached double density ATR file includes ADVENT.COM, which can be read onto a CP/M disk using ICDS copy function. This is the 350 point version, similar or the same one I saw on Radio Shack TRS-80 CP/M systems. The save feature asks for a tape, then messes up, so don't use it. I don't recall how to get it to save to a file. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossal_Cave_Adventure advent.atr

Having issues with my Indus GT giving me a "Boot Error" when I try and load DOS and a G5 error for all else. The drive when empty goes from 00 to 39 and stops there. It sounds fine, no unusual noises. Want to clean the heads, but not sure where they are. Can someone send a pic or directions? Trying to get this system working again. Pristine 800 XL with Indus Drive in case with all documentation and discs...even have a Gemini 10X dot matrix printer. Thanks, Lytnup

Well people, I have been trying to fix up an old Indus GT I had .. that had a bad display. I had thought it was the Seven seg. displays themselves. Now Im not so sure. I removed the old displayed.. replaced them with the same part # but was not able to get them to fit the same way the old ones did.. because the pins have been re-arranged. But they are in. Now I am still getting segments flaking out and disappearing.. and I think its the display board ribbon cable and its connection to the main board. See the attached pics. If anyone knows what type of ribbon or connectors I should search for? or what I could replace it with. I would really like some help on this one. Thanks James

I recently received my XU1541. After a few years of using an XM1541 cable with Windows XP x64, I found this no longer worked under Windows 7 x64 due to driver signing requirements. The only way to get this old parallel cable to work is to put Windows 7 into an insecure operation mode. I ran into a problem initially with the remnants of the drivers from XP x64 after using PC Mover to migrate to the new OS. (PC Mover, though it has numerous quirks, is a great program.) What I had to do was search for all *cbm*.* files in C:\Windows and remove them (some DLLs, and an INI, in system32 and syswow64.) Then after running the CBMXfer installer per instructions all has been working great. The GUI is nice, though I often fall back to the command line (cbmctrl, d64copy, etc.) All of the programs mention specifically 1541 compatibility: cbmformat, cbmctrl, d64copy, for instance. The formats are fast and the D64 transfers are very fast with the 1541 and 1571, but hang on the MSD SD-2. As well, cbmctrl -detect returns an unknown drive. Does anyone have any specific knowledge of using the MSD SD-2 or Enhancer 2000 with the CBM tools? I do not really want to throw one of my real Commodore drives to this setup, as I would rather have them in my 64/128 stacks. BTW, if you are using a 1571 with the CBMxfer GUI, when you format a drive it will ask if you want to format double-sided so you can still easily format 1541-compatible disks.

Running on a u1mb expanded 800XL, I've noticed that the Happy 1050 (drive 1) doesn't want to play nice with the Indus GT (drive 2) if the Indus GT is turned on first. When the Indus GT is turned on before the 1050, the 1050 will essentially stop working. In this scenario, the 1050 busy light doesn't even cycle when I put a disk in drive. Turning everything off and then on again won't remove the 1050 from this zombie state. I have to completely unplug/replug the 1050 in order to get it to work again. Swapping around the SIOs doesn't alter this behavior, nor does expansion status or SpartaDOS on/off. None of this happens an when I turn on the 1050 first, and then the Indus GT. Granted, I could just live with following that as a procedure, but I'm pretty sure this isn't normal and I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Thoughts?

Hoping someone can advise. Got a 1200XL and Indus GT from America, and realise that you can't just plug these in and go.... not unless I want my 8-bit shenanigans to be all smoke-based. My understanding is that for the Indus GT a 5200 PSU should work - these are 9V. But other reports suggest 12v DC +. If the 9v 5200 PSU is suitable, what about a std 1050 PSU? So question is: to make both a 1200XL and an Indus GT work in the UK, which PSUs/adapters are the best to buy, and from where? thanks

I have an Indus GT floppy drive for sale. It's in fantastic shape. It's been in storage (inside a ziploc bag) for about the past 10 years. I don't have any Atari floppies to test with, but it does power up and seek to track 39 after the self test. I'm only guaranteeing against DOA, but I'll be really surprised if it doesn't work. I looked around and I can't find another for sale on the internet. Not saying there aren't some, I just couldn't find any in a quick look around with google.. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 301055276718 I hate to give it up, but it's been in storage for so long, it's unrealistic to think I'll get around to it. In far more mundane news, I also have an auction for a 130 XE with 1050 that are also iin equally excellent condition. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 301055289614

SOLD For Sale: Indus GT for Atari 8-bit machines. Tested, fully working, smoked door intact. The whole unit is very nice. Sorry I just realized the pictures are out of focus. If you need better pics, let me know. Has all the disks with their manuals, plus the overall disk drive manual. I rarely see one of these for sale with all of the disks and manuals... in their original Indus sleeves too. Has original working power supply with the "For use with Indus GT only" sticker wrapped around the input side. No disappointments here... goes great with your 800xl, 1200xl or any other Atari computer. $100 plus actual shipping. I'll double box it and pack it carefully. Prefer cash (PayPal), but will consider trades, tell me what you have, I'll tell you if I'm intersted!
