35 Years, 9 Months and 16 Days in the Life Of...
About a year ago, I created this thread: http://www.atariage....ost__p__2088325 I despised the system. I just thought it was pretty awful. The original thread is worth a read if you're on the fence. Well, my opinion has actually changed, partially through the impassioned defense put up by folks in this forum. I actually tried a few of the suggested games. The main thing that broke it for me was finding about 35 games and a Intellivision 2 with an Intellivoice at an estate sale for 30 dollars. While the games and console were dusty and musty, a bit of elbow grease cleaned them up. The games were a great find because they all came with their manuals and overlays. They also included two vintage plastic storage boxes to hold them all. The home it came from also had a Colecovision and 9 games that I also bought. Apparently there was a Fairchild Channel F there at one time (I found a game instructions mixed with other stuff), but perhaps someone got it before I got there. This home had a lot of 70's & 80's techy stuff in it. They spent a lot of money on kid's electronics based on the quantity of inty games. I sold the Inty 2 here on Atariage because I have an original unit, but I kept all of the non duplicate games and have begun playing them. I rather like Burger-time (which is fun on any system) and of course AD&D, which I owned before the auction. Other games have grown on me, such as Imagic's Beauty and Beast (the manual is a hoot, and the gameplay is fun), Microsurgeon and, sadly enough, Horse Racing. Demon Attack really doesn't compare well to the 2600 version in my mind, but having Earth in the background it sorta cool. So, I don't mind playing the Intellivision so much now. The controller still sorta sucks and it's still not on my list of top systems, but I don't despise it any more. I guess having some decent games does help a lot. Too bad the estate sale mostly had common mediocre titles. Anyone have any comments on the games I scored or on my change of heart?
