  1. Hi everyone, Doing some organizing and came across a couple stacks of older S.W.A.T.Pro and Tips and Tricks magazines. I know that I'll never be able to complete these sets (save at great expense), so I've decided to let them go. The archivist in me refuses to just toss them in the garbage (they are historical artifacts of videogaming from the pre-Internet era), so I wanted to see if there was anyone here who would be interested in them for cost of packaging + shipping. Between the two I'd say there are 45-50 magazines total. For those that don't know, both of these magazines focused on gaming strategy vs. reviews (S.W.A.T. Pro being the companion to Gamepro). If you want to see what they're about, here are a couple of samples: https://archive.org/details/SWATProSeptember1995 https://archive.org/details/tipsandtricksmag The issues I have run from about 1990-1995; I can get you a specific list if there's interest.

  3. This is to inform all ABBUC-members who are registered to the ABBUC website and can access the downloads: I´ve created a new section "ABBUC Magazine - ENGLISH" where you find only the english PDF-versions of the magazines. Currently #140, #141 and #142 (Title page will be english soon, too) are online. #143 will follow soon (translators are busy, let´s hope for this week), as will Special Magazine #52 (ABBUC competitions). I´m very optimistic, that #144 will be available as english PDF as soon as the printed magazines ship. But I won´t put it online, before the first magazines arrived at the members (which normally is one day after shipping). The disk images still are in the other folder, I might create a separate section for the ATRs, too. And: On Monday we reach the deadline for texts, graphics, sounds, games, tools... everything for #144 (printed and disk). So check your stuff and send us, want you want to share.

  5. Picked up this whole stack for a buck each locally before the pandemic got into swing.
  6. If you're as crazy about olden media as I am you may want to have a look at these torrents. Second post in this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/ag8ce1/ive_made_a_collection_of_approx_11000_old_game/ It's a terabyte or two worth of magz'n manuals kinda stuff...I already have a lot of it in my collection, but am now considering buying a new HDD and just grabbing it, because being able to download it all with couple of clicks instead of crawling thorugh all these sites and picking them individually is a massive time saver.
  7. Here I'll share some reviews for 3DO games for discussion purposes. I found scans from my favorite gaming magazine from the days, Game Players and they have some 3DO games reviewed. They were always pretty favorable to the machine, and the magazine itself was a pleasure to read. They have this whole 2-year cycle where they had great humor, a lot of personality and they engaged the readers directly. Quite the gem. Sadly it fizzled out rather quickly after trying to reinvent itself a couple times. But I digress. Here is the review for none other than Blade Force. WOAH look at that score! 95% lands Blade Force a "Game Players Ultimate" award and the reviewer Jeff Lundrigan can't seem to get over how good the game is. In case the text is too hard to read, here's the detailed score: Graphics: 10 +Beautiful, texture-mapped city to fly through. +And it MOVES, baby! Music & Sound FX: 8 +A great -and loud- rock soundtrack. -Scrapes the edge of generic rock, though. Innovation: 9 +There's never been a heli-pak sim before. +Just two words- Bungee Cam! Gameplay: 10 +If you love to fly, you'll love this! +Special weapons, challenging gameplay- what more do you need? Replay value: 9 +Screaming action keeps you coming back! -Gets a little repetitive after a while Bonus : Blade Force was also titled 3DO game of the year in the 1995 Holiday issue Do you agree with the review? I DON'T. Don't get me wrong, I like Blade Force. It's one of the true quality exclusives for the 3DO and it is quite the technical achievement in terms of graphics and framerate. I really shows off what the 3DO could do. But come on- read that review; "fly! shoot! explosion! woohoo!" He's basically regurgitating a mix of the press release and a few of the most obvious features of them. It's almost as if he only played the first level or so and extrapolated from there. While the review does mention of how deficient the map is, it misses that everything sorta looks the same so you're always getting lost and most of all, nowhere does Jeff Lundrigan talk about the legitimately broken collision detection. Again, I like Blade Force, but I just think it was never as great as M. Lundrigan makes it out to be. Technical prowess aside, I'd rate this game more in the 70% range, especially due to its gameplay flaws which were apparent even back then. What do you guys think of Blade Force or the review?
  8. January 2017 Update: Per most recent post, I've acquired most of the items I had been looking for, but still looking for first year/first six issues of 99'er Magazine Volume 1, Nos. 1-6. And also would add that I'm looking for a Prostick II Joystick (Blue). Thanks everyone! ---------- Hello, I'm looking to buy the following: TI Color Monitor (PHA4100A) Operating Guide Slymoids (PHM3197) User Manual TI Editor/Assembler Disks (PHM3055) - Original Part A and Part B Floppy Disks First year/First six issues of 99'er Magazine Volume 1, Nos. 1-6 I have PDF versions of the guide, manual, and 99'er magazines listed above, but would like the original printed versions. I also have copies of the TI Editor/Assembler Disks, but would like the original TI supplied disks. As for the 99'er magazines, I have the 99'er Best Of that has most of the content from the first year of print (Volume 1), but would like to have the original six magazines which are likely rare (even copies with mailing labels are fine). Just trying to round out and complete my collection. Happy to pay for the above items and/or offer in trade any of my extra equipment (TI-99/4a Silver/Black console with power supply and documentation, speech synthesizer, PEB with cable and floppy disk drive - but no disk controller just the drive, black program recorder, beige program recorder, dual recorder cable, TI joysticks, TI-Writer Software, Extended Basic, Neurosurgeon, Adventure (cart only), Star Trek, TI Printer Manual - PHP2500). Everything is tested and works. I have the documentation for most of the stuff including TI-Writer, but I don't have the original TI-Writer binder and don't have any of the original packaging/boxes). Any offers/help appreciated. Thanks!
  9. I just picked this up from Barnes and Nobel. It's pretty cool, but I did find it was missing some systems that I wanted it to have. I just searched It and found out there is a second volume that had some of the systems the first was missing. Thought it was kinda cool so I posted it so anyone else who may be interested would know its out there.
