So I recently picked up an Apple IIc and a green phospher Monitor II in reasonable condition while I was on a trip to Nashville. I'll spare the details of the restoration pratfalls i've blundered through, but suffice to say the Monitor II currently works. I know that RIFA capacitors are used for line conditioning and tend to let out the magic smoke after three decades. I need to figure out if these capacitors need to be replaced soon as I suspect, and if so, I was hoping someone could help point me in the direction of compatible replacements. The caps on the main board don't appear to have any leaks or bulges at the moment so I am not super worried about them just yet.

After many trial and errors I would like to share so far best Cable I did for myself. It is DIN5 --> SCART, for Stock XE models or XL with chroma/luma mod for s-video standard. Detail of READY prompt looks nice with signals going to grid exactly as it should and appear like dots on grid, basically pixels. So called DOUBLE or better INDIVIDUALLY shielded cable is a must. I did Cable for s-video 4 din standard and picture was good, but not so great as this SCART. Finished Cable length is 1.8M. Cable is wired into spirals around individual cores. Stock ATARI 800XE with this Cable Next step will be S.X.E to get rid of the some signal impurity.

This project to augment and enhance the Assembly Language Code (ALC) listing of TI-99/4A’s Console ROM Operating System is largely obviated by the DX-10 Assembler ALC source code discussed below the second separator bar further down. It appears to be the original source code. ——————————————————— Startup Message for this Thread— I am in the process of attempting to enhance the annotation and instruction labelling of the ALC of the TI-99/4A’s console ROM so that I can better wend my way through the code. My starting point is @Tursi’s TI994A_CPU.asm, which he ported from Heiner Martin’s TI99/4A INTERN. Right now, I am calling it TI994A_CPU.a99. I will maintain an up-to-date version, serialized by date, in this post of this thread. Please, feel free to suggest modifications, including the file name (perhaps, with only a different extension, it is too close to @Tursi’s file’s name), the name of this thread and its tags—I’m flexible. I have barely begun this effort with the file below; but, it should give you an idea of what I am trying to do: I would like clarification of lines where I have the comment, “???LES???”, because I have not yet discovered why the lines are there. [Now known from ROM-4A files below] Labels and comments thus far: Lines 1 – 111, 464, 669, 1101, 1116, 1186 – 1356, 1499, 2446 (I will not continue itemizing the changes going forward. Hi, by reason of fitting my XEL with sophia dvi, I tested some monitors for compatibility. PAL, sophia programmed for 1536x960 working: HP Compag LA2405x HP EliteDisplay E241i HP LP2065 LG IPS LED 24EB23 Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW not working: HP Compaq LA2205wg Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM You can ad your own experiences here, maybe it´s a decision support for users looking for a compatible monitor. I just unboxed my first SM124 and it works!! With my 1040STE. The image looks good but smallish. There are no external adjustments other than Brightness and Contrast. Is there a way to adjust the image to be larger (to use more of the screen real estate)? OR is it time to replace caps? Thanks in advance for your ideas/advice.

I have the chance -maybe less than 50 euros/dollars/pounds- to acquire one sony pvm crt monitor 20n5e, just for playing. Does anyboy have experience plugging a old console to this model? is it worth it? I do guess I'll need special cables for it to start with. Thank you

Hello I have a problem with an Atari ST SM124 monitor, when powered on you can hear the Flyback transformer kicking into life but there is no image on screen. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it and what was wrong? is it something simple as a capacitor or could it be any other component that is known to cause trouble? (I have experience with electronics but not CRT tech so I wont be frying myself).

Hello all, my name is Clark. I am the current owner of the XC1411 Prototype Sample Monitor which was made for the 130XE. After months of research (with only information I could find on the web, and nothing to tell me otherwise) I may have one of what seems to be only two proven to still currently exist, and of those the only one that "works"! This monitor has been graciously passed down through many people, including multiple users on the AtariAge forums here. I hope to make a difference though. This monitor has had many video problems throughout the ownership of all these people, and I aim to fix it once and for all. You can see in the photos below (N64 with Goemon's Great Adventure playing) that although it powers up and gets a perfect video signal, something is very wrong inside ~ likely a capacitor problem is my guess as that was what previous owners tried to repair. Although I am currently going to college to better my electrical engineering skills, I still do not feel confident enough to repair my current only prototype, especially since there's not any documentation to help guide me. I am in no rush to repair this, but I do wish to bring to VCFMW next year. I am in the north Chicago area, if anyone around there, or if you know anyone around there that could possibly help, let me know! Thank you all!

I just acquired an Atari STFM with a SM124 and SC124 monitor. When starting it up for the first time, the monitor does power on as well as the computer, it accesses the floppy drive, but the video output is not working. See attached photo and video. The SM124 monitor has the white line but the SC124 has no video at all. Not sure if it's a monitor problem or an internal video card problem. Any ideas? thanks AtariSM124monitor_problem.mpg

I'm trying to restore an arcade cabinet from 1983. The CRT monitor is shot and honestly, I'd rather have an LED/LCD screen in it's place. (Don't get me wrong, CRT, when working, looks great) I don't know much about how to connect the monitor and most of what I see out there has DVI and/or VGA ports which are clearly not going to connect on an old system arcade cabinet like this. Just tested this SC1435 monitor I got untested for next to nothing. Turns out it works perfectly now that I have a monitor cable for my 1040STE and a power cord for it. I bought a 4MB upgrade for the Atari but if turned out to already have 4MB installed.© Trevor Briscoe

So, I have a bunch of Atari stuff for sale. I'm not sure as to what to price it (I'm not an Atari guy, I'm a Nintendo guy), and I'd like it to go to a Atari collector or someone who will put it to use/appreciate it. I'm not looking to make a killing. I just want a fair/going price for the stuff. It all works. I have this TI TM-911, I know it goes to the Terminal computer TM-990, and there are two websites with a bit of info, but other than that I can't find anything on it. No videos, no one selling anything on ebay, (besides what seems to maybe be the terminals internals) and no posts ANYWHERE on collecting, or having such a monitor/terminal. Does anyone have any info on it's worth, or who actually has the monitor or the terminal itself? Maybe video of it working current day? Anything? Here are the only two links I could find doing a quick search, and they just contain old manuals and articles related to the terminal. Since I have begun dabbling in programming for the Atari 2600, I have become interested in running a PAL system for testing purposes. I have one wood-grain 4-switch NTSC VCS, and there are multiple PAL VCS's for sale on eBay at reasonable prices. My main question is about displaying the signal. I obviously don't have a PAL CRT, and the only way to get one would be to pay a fortune to ship one from across the pond. Not to mention that I would need to power it with the proper voltage at 50Hz. I have heard that the Commodore 64 1080/1084 monitors will accept PAL signals, though (I think), but getting a PAL CRT is pretty much out of the question for now. I was thinking of instead getting a signal converter so I could display the picture on a NTSC CRT, something like in this video. It seems too good to be true, but could something as inexpensive as this converter be all I need? One other question. I noticed that my power supply converts from 110V 60Hz to 9v DC. If I plug a PAL system into a US wall outlet, will it work properly? Or will I need a different power supply? I would assume that both NTSC and PAL systems run at 9V, but I may be wrong.

Help Needed: Troubleshooting 800XL monitor output

Hi guys! I dug out my 800XL from my mom's house this past week and hooked it up to my Plasma TV using one of these Atari to Composite cables: https://www.8bitclassics.com/Atari-800-XL-XE-5-Pin-DIN-S-Video-Cable.html?search=AXL-SVIDEO However I cannot get it to work. The 800XL power light comes on but the TV just says no signal. I tried with both composite (Yellow, Red, White) and S-Video connections on the cables, and also tried composite on another LCDTV in the house. I also have two of the same cable converters linked above and both had same results. Same thing for all tests, "no signal" on TV. I am not sure what to do next. Is it likely that there is an issue with the monitor out on the 800XL? Or is it just that my TV's cannot recognize the signal? Maybe I need a different converter? What steps should I take next? I appreciate your help 8-biters! Gabriel -
I just put a PAL ANTIC (C021698) into my Incognito 800 in hopes of running Numen and Dimo's Quest, and all the other good PAL only stuff. The trouble is that my monitor, a Sharp Aquos LC-13B2UA, shows a monochrome picture. It has many modes available: N358, N443, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, SECAM, PAL-60, and Auto. It has no NTSC-50 mode. Yes, I tried them all with no luck. Does anyone know of a good monitor that will work with this?
