  1. Hi all - kind of new here. This is my 1st forum topic. Getting ready to go for this Atarimax Ultimate SD for the 5200. I guess I will ultimately figure it out, but weary of wasting {free} hours/days, which will translate into month(s) before I get it all figured out and can focus more on simply enjoying the games. I'm not finding a lot of how too info. on this stuff, and the Atarimax forum topics seeking help when problems do arise don't seem to get much attention. Anyway-Is my worry for naught? Is the finding and downloading games process pretty straight forward? Any other tips or guidance on best places to grab games (should I be saying ROMs??) or how to do it if/when I do get it? Not as clueless s I may be seeming, but I just don't have much interest in having a "can not open/access file"-type experience right now. I hope I got this out in a way that can be found by others here & Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. Also-If anyone has Sean Kelly or the like that they might be happy to part with in order to build funds to get their own Ultimate SD, I may be able to help towards that end. {but, I should note that I may move on this before the 7/27 deadline they currently have going, which could, but not necessarily, affect my interest in that regard} - Thanks again.
  2. UPDATE: As of 18 Mar 17: 34 Ordered, 16 to go. All payment emails sent. We are OVER HALFWAY THERE!!! If we can get to 40 orders, I will order the parts and this thing will be a go. We will still need to get to 50 to pay the balance for the SMD assembler, but if we can get to 40, we can start this process and move the timeline up. I have found another supplier for some of the parts and they had a deal, so I have started to order some of the parts. . Let me be clear: I STILL NEED 50 PRE-ORDERS. Tell your friends. Hell, I even gave Facebook $10 to advertise! Folks, As promised, here are the details: Starting TODAY, 17 FEB 17, I am taking pre-orders for Electrotrains' Ultimate Atari Cart. Here is how it will work: Process: 1. Send total payment via PayPal to [email protected] Please, make sure you use the "Pay for goods/services" option. 1a. Please include email & AtariAge handle somewhere in the notes when sending PayPal. 2. You may order as many cartridges as you wish, but your payment MUST be received IN FULL (including shipping) for you to reserve one or more of them. 3. There needs to be 50 pre-orders by April 18, 2017. If there are not, all pre-orders will be refunded IN FULL. 4. I will send you an email verifying receipt and telling you your # on the list. The number does nothing but let you know how close we are to starting production. 5. As soon as I receive 50 pre-orders, I will order the parts and start the process of making the cartridges. TIMELINE: 17FEB: Pre-Orders Start ASAP: As soon as 50 pre-orders are made, I will order the parts. I already have the PCBs. The LATEST this date could be is 18 APR 2017. Faster pre-ordering means, earlier start date. 25 APR Parts & PCBs to assembler 02 MAY Assembled boards received back. Begin doing hand solder parts (3), programming, casing, testing 16 MAY Begin shipment 01 JUN All carts should be in your hands NOTE: If the 50th pre-order comes earlier than 18Apr, then everything gets moved up. It is all dependent on how fast the 50 pre-orders happen. Costs: US$95.00+shipping Includes one Ultimate Atari Cart inside of a custom printed, 3D case. Case is BLACK, unless you choose differently. The label is waterproof and laser printed. If you do not want the case, subtract $5.00. If you want a different COLOR for the case, ADD $5.00 (See the attached PDF file for available colors. Do Glow in the dark!!) Shipping is as follows: US-based PayPal Addresses: $10.00 for up to three carts Canada-based PayPal Addresses: $15.00 for up to three carts Rest of the world PayPal addresses: $20.00 for up to two carts US shipments will go out Priority Mail, insured. Everybody else will go out International First Class Package. WHAT IS THIS CARTRIDGE? It supports most ROMs up to 1 megabyte in size, including standard 8k and 16k cartridges, XEGS, AtariMax 1 & 8mbit ROMs, SIC! Cart, Bounty Bob, OSS, SDX & Williams. ROM dumps can be easily converted into CAR format with my html/javascript conversion utility, RomToCar. It will also load .XEX files directly from the SD card. Design, PCB & FPGA firmware by Robin Edwards (electrotrains at atariage) Atari boot menu & XEX loader by Jonathan Halliday (flashjazzcat at atariage) Debugging - Matthias Reichl (HiassofT at atariage) Help, suggestions and FAT32 LFN code from Mark Watson (foft at atariage) For more information, here are some links: #1 #1 http://tinyurl.com/gtwzaew Also details further down in the thread here: #25 Inland PLA Colors.pdf
  3. A few weeks ago I was testing and comparing all of the programs on Ken Lill's latest Ultimulti cartridge (version 3.0) against the listing of programs that he made for it. My method of testing the programs is to switch the cartridge's DIP switches while the machine is still on and then press the reset button on the console to bring up the new game. Sometimes, before I press reset, this causes some pretty weird effects on the TV screen. Most of the time this looks like garbage or a program crash (which, technically, is what is happening because I'm switching out part of the ROM while the program is actually running). On rare occasions, the crashes look a little artistic. Rarer still are programs that continue to run, but act very strangely. Take this weird mish-mash of both Treasure Cove and The Incredible Wizard; it's an insanely cool Treasure Cove title screen mixed in with the maze from The Incredible Wizard: This happened while I was switching from one game to the other. Note that that DIP switch positions have only one bit difference between them: Treasure Cove - DIPSwitch position $3B, or 00111011B to The Incredible Wizard - DIPSwitch position $33, or 00110011B I tried to duplicate this feat again with no luck. I want to mention that this unusual picture is not a fault of the UltiMulti cartridge. This results from normal operation of the Astrocade. This reminds me of the Atari 2600 technique of "frying" (turning the Atari system on and off very quickly) which can get some very strange, and sometimes predictable, results. Has anyone else seen strange effects like this? I'd love to see some pictures of other unusual occurrences. Adam

  6. The Atari 5200 was my first system, after 30 years I just bought one with composite mod off EBay. I see I am 9 years too late to get M.U.L.E. on a cart so I was hoping someone could tell me if the M.U.L.E. conversion to the Atari 5200 was ever available as a ROM. If it was I would appreciate playing one of my favourite games on the 5200. Is there a place I can at least buy the ROM. Thanks

  10. Hi everyone Universal Grom/Rom Module I have been trying to track down info on this PCB, but no luck here on previous threads or WHTECH about multi-carts, it has similarities to the Super Extended Basic cartridge around the Grom section of the PCB. I am hoping that the wiser people can dig deep into their memory's and illuminate this Boards history. Any info would be a plus.
  11. EDIT: Found one! Thank you! I want to buy your great condition Intellicart with all original materials. Send me a PM. Thanks!
