  1. I am auctioning off several factory new copies of Pitfall by Activision for the Intellivision. Before sending each of these off to eBay, I thought I'd off them to AA members first. There are 6 of them and some have light scuffs. Because of this, PM me your bid and which one you want (or you can say you don't care which one). Photos of the outsides are provided. I have not opened them to take photos to reduce the risk of damage. However, I can open a game an provide photos of the manual, overlays, and cartridge if requested. Just to show that these are factory new, I have included a photo of the games in their shipping box. However, the shipping box itself is not for sale. US shipping: Shipping is $3 for one copy. If you win the bidding on multiple copies, then each 2nd copy has free shipping (i.e. shipping for 2 is $3 total, shipping for 3 is $6 total, shipping for 4 is $6 total, etc). International shipping is available and it has the cost pattern of "each pair costs the same as one". However, the actual cost depends on the the destination. Bidding on multiple items will be treated independently (ex: if you bid on 4 copies, you might win on 3 of them and lose on 1 of them). Unsold copies will be offered to the runners up of my choice. Bidding ends Friday, December 8th, at 5pm PST (Pacific Standard Time). Pictures are high resolution for collectors to inspect. More pictures to follow showing details of the outsides.   2. Nox Archaist is a new role playing game in development by 6502 Workshop exclusively for the Apple II platform and emulators, with floppy and hard disk support. We are excited to announce the first in a series of mini stories using the Nox Archaist engine to demo the newest features in the game. The Nox Archaist story line is still under development.   3. I have just completed the final proof of the 4th set of peel & stick Intellivision cover photos. These die cut 1.9 x 2.5 inch stickers are designed to fit perfectly onto the top of standard game cartridges. This project was not without some mishaps, adjustments, & revisions. For those of you that are wanting completed sets of game labels I will be sending PMs to each of you as soon as I have them printed out. Still to do the really rare labels which will be even tougher.   4. I designed some new cover labels that fit directly onto Intellivision cartridges. These measure 1.9 x 2.5 inches and fit perfectly on the top of the games. They are high definition pictures on glossy die cut photo paper. So far I have made over 50 simulated screen shots and am now working on the hard to find & rarer games in the INTV line up. Those later titles will take a bit longer to make as I don't own a few of them. LMK if anyone is interested in putting them onto their own games. It really makes the cartridges pop with the new labels instead of the basic end caps they have now.
  5. Did you ever notice how the Intellivision & INTV games had such small bland and basic labels on them? I always thought they could look better, so I designed my own and put them on the cartridges. These simulated screen shoots labels are now attached to my video games. They were made in high definition and printed on die cut glossy photo paper. The games really pop out now. Please tell me what you think of them
  6. What is it that you would most like to have but you hadn't seen any for sale yet? One item I think should be made is big specific storage and display cases for each system. Many of us have large collections but need a better way to show off our favorite games. I would love to have large slotted cases designed for certain size cartridges. Nice wooden or plastic racks holding about 100 games would be just great. Another product I would buy in a heartbeat is something designed to clean the contacts on your old school gaming cartridges. They already make those to insert into your Nintendo with cleaning solutions for the consoles & game cartridges. Why the heck hasn't anyone designed one for the Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision etc? What about a cleaning tool, pad, or device that would work on all the smaller hand held gaming units as well? Let's hear your thoughts & ideas on something which you think is needed within the gaming community but you just can't find it in stores or online anywhere.
  7. Okay, the time has finally come. I'm going to make a new drop-in replacement PCB for the ColecoVision. Other form factors such as portables could be made in the future (but not right now). This is still a ColecoVision; I've been calling it a CV-1.2. It's a regular CV with some improvements; it's not the next generation CV-2 with more graphics modes, audio channels, bits, etc. Here's the feature list of the CV-1.2: Component (YPbPr) video output - both RCAs and 1/8" jack provided Composite video output - both RCA and 1/8" jack provided - I don't really want to add this, but I'm guessing it's pretty much required, right? VGA (pure analog, not an F18A type solution) video output - I'm not sure if this will work yet, so don't count on it Audio output - both RCAs and 1/8" jack provided - mono of course, but two outputs available for stereo TVs 24K RAM - for Adam conversions such as Super Zaxxon and Dragon's Lair Static RAM for VDP - instead of DRAM Extra controller ports - to use 2 button Atari 7800 (or 2600), Sega SMS, Sega Genesis controllers Extra keypad support - could be added on the top of the CV console (useful if using Atari or Sega controllers) Easily replaceable controller input chips Single +5V input - either via standard CV power supply or smaller/efficient adapter Internally created -5V and +12V output - Atari Expansion Module support Output voltage for Roller controller - via standard CV power jack Power on LED - multicolour Alternate BIOSes - standard 10s delay, 3s delay, 10s/fire delay, etc. Pause button - capacitive so it's hidden (hopefully), also turns on light, and turns off audio output Built-in 31 game multi-"cart" - activated if no game is inserted Expansion module circuitry remains - for SGM and Atari Expansion Module support All new parts used - except for VDP and audio, which use NOS (new old stock) parts Fits in standard CV case - existing holes in back of CV will likely line up with A/V output and power input The features listed are meant to improve the quality of play of the system, for instance by adding proper video outputs, extra controller/keypad inputs, pause switch, and the simple multicart. The reliability of the system is improved by using static RAM for the VDP, allowing a standard 5V power adapter to be used (this should also make the power switch less finicky), making the controller input chips easy to replace, and using brand new parts. If there are features missing that you think should be added, please feel free to discuss. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be cheap. As usual, I'll do my best to make it as affordable as possible. I'd also like to make a bare-bones version that is still reliable, but doesn't provide some of the extras such as multicart, extra controller inputs, etc. As mentioned, a 31 game multi-"cart" is included. I don't want to add games that I don't have permission to include, so if there's anyone who has games or utilities that could be added, whether it be full or demo versions, please contact me. I'm not sure what kind of compensation could be given, but that's all up for discussion, I guess.
  8. I've been hinting that this was in the works for a while now. And I figure its time to start revealing a bit of what I have been working on for the last 1-1/2 years. I call it the 1088XEL. Why? Well for one thing thanks to Lotharek's U1MB board and the on-board 64K RAM, there is a total of 1088K of usable memory. Basically the idea behind this project is to create something that is designed from the ground up to accept some of the most popular upgrades as plug-in daughter boards. Yes no more making up wire harnesses, crimping terminals, scratching your head and trying to figure out where to mount things. The other goal of the project is create a very small footprint mother board. I'm talking about something in the area of 6" x 6" (15x15 centimeters). And to utilize only thru-hole components, as well as the original five A8 LSI chips (Sally, Antic, GTIA, Pokey, PIA). Actually there will be an additional Pokey on board to support Stereo Sound. If you've been following some of my other projects, then you've witnessed the nesting technique I wish to exploit when laying out this board, which is how I will get it shrunk down to such a small size without resorting to surface mount devices. The first prototype will initially be created as an NTSC version board, but will provide support for an upgrade path to PAL via a future daughter board design, an oscillator change, and of course PAL Antic and GTIA chips. I have taken some liberties at reducing the component count by eliminating capacitors, some support chips (through utilization of SRAM memory), and just not caring too much about RFI radiation issues. Me bad So for all intents and purposes this will still be a 'real' Atari 8-bit computer as far as the basic hardware is concerned (not an FPGA implementation). Now for the big reveal (please keep in mind that these are preliminary schematics, and that the design is still in flux, so in other words there might be a few mistakes and omissions )... - Michael
  9. Hi, I am having an issue with getting a simple display going. What's supposed to happen is a brown smiley face is supposed to appear.on the screen. Instead, all I get is a black screen with nothing being shown. I tried using the debugger, but couldn't figure out what was going on as it kept getting stuck on the line checking to see if the players y position is equal to the current scanline until the overscan period.   10. Hello all, I was wondering if there was any way to truly tell if a game is sealed. (like Nintendo stuff---Hseam) I figured maybe not since back then retailers could have done anything and from the mfg, maybe they did things different... anyway I would love any feedback you might have. I will try to post some picts. If you need any other picts I will take them and try to post ^^^^here they all are. ^^^different angle ^^^ this is the one that concerns me.... the writing is under the wrap. ^^^top view...   11. I am patiently waiting for my new Colecovision to arrive. I am very excited, I have been wanting one for a while but did not have the cash. Now with my new job, I was able to grab one from yurkie, and several games to go with it. I do have a quick question for anyone who owns the expansion module 1 and the 7800, how does the picture on the module compare to the 7800 for 2600 games? The video on my light sixer seems to be dying and I want something else to play my 2600 games on for now. I just wanted to say hello and share my excitement with everyone. Thanks Aaron
  12. Greetings all, I've been working on a sealed collection of 2600 Red Label (NTSC) games and I might need a little help finding the last two that I'm missing. Does anyone know where I can find a sealed copy of Donkey Kong (not junior) and/or Yars Revenge? I've been keeping an eye on ebay and Craigslist, but I thought some of you may have other ideas.   13. I was thinking of buying a pro-controller off ebay and sending it to an electronics manufacturer to clone and produce. I have a number of entrepreneur friends who have done similar things and I don't think it would be as impossible as some might think. I would like to do this domestically (US) or perhaps if the situation warrants, China. The build spec would have to be at least to first party, if not better. I don't think the components would be the expensive part, but rather the molds (for plastic parts.) I know generic N64 controllers have been done recently using the old molds. Once I had an estimate for the cost for a low number run (realistically probably about 500 at the very least) I could invest some of my own savings, and perhaps do a kick-starter? It seems like there are about 5-10 games that really benefit from the use of the pro controller, and more that possibly could (homebrews) if they were readily available. It also seems a bit more compact and ergonomically friendly, and I don't know of a collector that wouldn't like to get their hands on one (mostly for its functionality). They are obviously ridiculously rare, since there are top developers for the system that don't even own one. Am I crazy for even looking into this, or what are the communities thoughts?

And of course I will supply the minijack and a/v mod kit. Better taking this route rather than butchering the side of it by having RCA jacks side-mounted (it looks kind of cheesy that route as opposed to the clean, sleek look the minijack would have).

    Hello there, As the name might suggest I need some help from you fine people. I've read the forum for a while but didn't join until I'd finally got a 2600. I was very happy as I managed to get a nice light sixer (despite it being the dirtiest thing I've ever seen) but I'm having some problems connecting it to a new TV, I've followed all the instructions I could find but I'm just getting a weird black and white pattern on screen. Attached are pictures of the screen and board (including one before I cleaned it!) Any help would be much appreciated! P.S. The board seems different to most other examples I could find online?
  20. If Atari did make a new console, what would be some ideas? Don't talk about an dedicated ones though like the Flashbacks cause those exist. Would it be CD's, Cassettes or Cartridges? Would it be a cheap "Under 50 bucks" console to give you an old feeling? Or... would it be an advanced 500$ console that has internet, blue-ray, etc. to compete more with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo? (Maybe SEGA soon) What would it's name be? Add: There was an interview from 2009 or 2010, that had the SEGA guy talking about how he wants to make a Dreamcast 2, but lets stay on topic.
