I've got an older Odyssey 2 (the kind with the beige switchbox that it needs), and I'm having video trouble. I've attached a quick video of what it does. It looks like it switches on for a split second, turns off, repeat..? I had a buddy go over and check the power supply, check the traces on the board, and still no difference. We also tried tapping the RF directly off the internal RF convertor, bypassing the proprietary cable that comes off the back. I'm hoping this is a problem someone else has encountered.
So I am modding another Odyssey 2 and I wired the power LED and the Led is really dim when you turn the power switch on and no output shows on the tv screen. I checked the voltage and it shows ~5 Volts going to the LED as well as the chips on the board. Would anyone have any Idea what the issue could be? I'm assuming it would be a bad voltage regulator? The one on the Odyssey 2 is two pin...I went to radio shack and they only had the 7805 5+volt 3 pin one. I know my power supply works cos it works for my other two consoles perfectly. The chips on the board are firmly in place...It was working prior to me modding it and I didn't do anything different to the motherboard itself. The cartridge slot and the board itself have been cleaned. Not sure where else to look. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
A while ago i stumbled over The Console Living Room at archive.org. You can play Atari 2600, Atari 7800, ColecoVision, Odyssey 2, Astrocade and SG-1000 games there directly via in-browser emulation (MESS). Very handy if you wanna play a few old games without downloading emulators and roms. Have a look!
