  1. Did Parsec use the standard TI joysticks, or were there paddle controllers or something else needed to play the game? (I have the 2600 standard joystick and am looking to buy the Atari joystick adapter cable to play.) Thanks!
  2. It was recently brought up in the 'Setting up a 512k cart' thread that the ea5 version of Parsec has issues with the graphics of the ground. I thought I had a version where this wasn't a problem, but I was mistaken. Apparently it's an issue of not having enough room in the 32k expansion memory to fit everything. Well, we have this wonderful new cart that we could include the >6000 Rom area, which should give us 40k, enough room to fix the problem and have a fully working ea5 version of Parsec without having to resort to using a Gram device. I've collected the various versions I've found in several different formats as well as the recently posted source code in the attached zip file. There's a bunch of really skilled programmers here, would any of you like to assist, or make this a group project? Gazoo Parsec.zip
  3. here is a video of the 1st wave (and little of 2nd) of my Parsec 2600. https://youtu.be/Bje12dRGAeU I started out trying to make an exact copy of the TI99 Parsec and found it was a bit too much for the 2600. scrolling ground turned out to be the killer. So, I created a game inspired by with a lot of the game play of TI99 Parsec. will be looking for beta volunteers soon after I clean up some of the graphics and counters. Note: in the demo some collisions have been disabled.
  4. here is a playable demo of Parsec 2600. it only plays game level 3 over and over again as a demo. as soon as I can get around to it i'll make it into a cartridge. right now working on the manual and the labels. DEMO-parsec2600v13.bas.bin and here is a video when I still had a bug or two to fix so you know what you are downloading. https://youtu.be/tDzGTof7qqE enjoy and feed back is welcomed.
  5. after a lot of interference from the real world and a lot of changing of my mind I have made some progress on the Parsec 2600. https://fieldmousetech.wordpress.com/ that is my tech blog and here are some youtube videos of the meteor and single enemy with scrolling meteors https://youtu.be/Gs8RheHNZmY 1 enemy scrolling test 1 enemy attack test https://youtu.be/sVYBqbyveJ4 I programming the thing in 16k multi-sprite kernel. The multi-sprite kernel does not allow sideways scrolling so i'm doing a lot of slight-of-hand to simulate the look of sideways scrolling. why I didn't use the other kernels is the standard kernel did not allow multiple items on the screen, which killed the swoopers. And the DPC+ kernel kept getting overwhelmed and crashing. I still have the swoopers to do, which I already have the code in the DPC+ and standard kernel and just port over. then the tedious task of gluing the whole thing together which will take a while. update: I think I just came up with a viable way to do a refueling tunnel. will preview soon.
