Not as an amusement-only title, but as what I like to call "videmption" (for "video redemption"). The official name is Centipede Chaos. That all said, there is a good chance that this has a amusement-only/no tickets mode (like Galaga Assault and Space Invaders Frenzy have), although most locations that will grab it probably won't set it up like that. Chances are I'll have some hands-on time with this in Vegas in a couple of weeks, assuming it appears at a trade show there. If so, I'll be sure to get them to show me what the amusement mode is like, if it's there. https://arcadeheroes.com/2019/03/14/new-centipede-videmption-game-spotted-on-location-test/ That said : /

Finally completed my 65XE Remake, made some additions, these include: U1MB with new mounting bracket SDrive-Simple-II TK-II-STEREO Blue LED Power Light and Clear Diffuser New Black and Silver badge This is a project I really enjoyed building, very impressed with the results. Sourcing components was fun, and really tried to keep with all new parts were possible. The parts that came from a donor system was the Case, Keyboard, Main Chipset ICs, Pal Crystals and the Cartridge / ECI Port. I did get new versions of the Edge Connectors, but I preferred the one-piece Connector that was on the original Motherboard. Stereo output was connected from the TK-II to two headers C7 and C6 at Video Setup, so left and right sound is now outputed on pins 6 and 7 of the 8 pin din. For this set up, I am using the S Video output, it does look good. The original 65XE Keyboard Membrane was found to have bad traces through the Reset, Option and Select lines, so I swapped it with my XEGS keyboard membrane, and it now works perfect and my XEGS does not know any difference U1MB was mounted using my designed bracket. The Red Power LED was very easy to swap out with a Blue version, only to find the Red Power Indicator Diffuser had to be replaced. As there was no clear ones ever designed or copied etc, I 3D designed one and printed in clear PETG, due to the layers made during the printing process, it really helps with the diffusing of the blue light, my camera does not show the real effect. I wanted a new Badge, to replace the existing badge, I had previously got from eBay before and never really liked the finish, so I designed my own and I must admit the Black with Silver looks nice. I think going forward this XE will be used more than my other Atari 8 Bit systems. Into my retro corner it goes I cannot wait for the XL version with the same or more features as the 65XE remake to arrive.

This is my first post on AtariAge, I read the rules and I believe this is the appropriate place to post this. To be honest, I don't know where else I would post this, I don't think there's many other online spaces that would care for this project. With that said, I present to you the first actual programming project I decided to undertake: Utopic! A remake of the classic Intellivision game Utopia that I'm sure many of you are aware of. I was born almost 20 years after the original release of the game, but when I watched a couple goofballs on YouTube play the game I ended up wanting to play it myself. Unfortunately, I do not own an Intellivision and the only remake on Windows is buggy and doesn't have an AI to play against. I decided I'd give it a shot at remaking it myself and I think I've done a relatively competent job. The primary feature here is that there is an AI to play against or if you want to watch both islands be AI controlled, there's that to. The AI is a bit rough around the edges and I do plan on improving it, but I just have so much university related stuff I'm busy with that I didn't want it to just sit on my drive gathering dust. I made it using Visual Studio 2022 and the C# bindings for the Raylib library. I want to give many thanks to this post: I used it to try and stay as true to the original game logic as much as possible. I hope you enjoy it, if there are bugs or annoyances, please let me know, I'll try to get around to fixing them. I don't really know what else to say... it's basically Utopia lol Download at Utopic's itch page: Utopic Here are a couple pictures of the game:

Inspired by this topic, I started programming my own version of The Core, named... "The Core 2" (yes, I am not the most creative person here ). The current version is roughly playable. Improvements since V0.1: increased the number of paddle positions from 16 to 24 and made the positions overlapping to allow faster paddle movement, the driving controller code responsiveness got improved. Now fast controller turns are not ignored anymore, but move the paddle two steps into the previous direction. limited the paddle rotation to +/-2 relatively to the paddle position As always, you have to tell Stella to use the Driving Controller! The game starts to become interesting, but I am still not convinced yet. Probably I should create some kind of AI to allow easier play testing during development. The Atari 2600 has a huge library and many a really good. But there are some games who did not use the full potential by far and wasted a good game idea. Name your top 3 (or less) of existing Atari 2600 games who deserve a remake most. Mine: Miner 2049er (both!) Zaxxon BTW: I got the idea from the Videogamecritic when he complained about Miner 2049er's speed.

I like this. Someone remade the Atari 2600 version of Berzerk for Android, with full controller (nvidia shield, for instance!) support. I thought the addition of internet memes was stupid but then I remembered the source game is 32 years old, so what's the harm in having a time capsule inside of a time capsule? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=thewholecake.manik It's free with no ads, tricks, or extra things to buy.

I intend to create a game for HTML5 based on Ram It. It would be a modern version of it, with music, power-ups, new graphics and other features that Ram It did not have (in addition to a completely different name). However, before starting to develop anything I would like to know if I could have a legal problem from Atari or Telesys because of the similarities between both games. I have read about several projects of this type that Atari has taken off for not having agreed. The truth is that my game would not be a port (as I just mentioned), but something like a remake that would include several things that have occurred to me and with which the original concept did not count (that in essence; it may be that over time my product will be a quite different game, but for now I plan to do something faithful to the original concept, but with additional content). I have searched for information in order to contact Telesys, but it seems impossible. Would it be appropriate to write to Atari and request written permission? Thanks in advance!

http://www.specnext.com How many of these does the world need, really? I don't get it. I suppose you have to be British to care.

Some games are so good they refuse to die and instead deserve another chance at life. Often it's just that they need updated graphics to be more modern...and other times they may need an entire overhaul from the ground up! In this video Metal Jesus & Kelsey list off some of the games they would like to see HD-ified for a new generation! Looking back on this video, I really wish I would have mentioned SOCOM 1 & 2 on PS2...Those games remade for PS4 would be amazing! What games would make your list?

I recently tried a demo of a fan-made Metroid II remake called "AM2R" (short for "Another Metroid 2 Remake"), and I must say I was completely blown away!!! I has such a great time playing it that I felt downright compelled to mention it here on these forums. If you haven't tried it yet, do yourself a favor and download the latest demo from here: http://metroid2remake.blogspot.ca/ You need to have .NET Framework 2 or newer installed (which could be a problem if you're using Windows XP, but it comes standard under Vista, 7 and 8 so no problem there) and I recommend using a proper game controller because playing with the keyboard is somewhat difficult. The version of the demo which I played (version 1.21) seems to have a bug with the map display, and the game slows down or accelerates for no apparent reason sometimes (I hope the programmer fixes this) but otherwise this game will give you a Metroid boner, I guarantee it! The graphics, the music, the in-game physics, the level design, everything is damn near perfect! This is Metroid done right, people!! If you can, please leave some encouraging comments for the guys behind this wonderful fan project. I'm going to join the official AM2R forum and give the team all the encouragement I can muster, and I will keep my fingers crossed that the game will be fully completed as soon as humanly possible. Playing a high-quality fan-made game like AM2R really puts a smile on my face!

Hello everyone! In preparation for the full reboot I'm working on, I've been putting together a remake (reasonably faithful to ZX Spectrum version) of Chimera. Full details are on my blog at http://www.chimera2010.com - you can download latest builds there for Mac and PC. Nothing fancy yet. The Mac version requires Mountain Lion sadly, but other than that, they should both work. Remember, this isn't the reboot with the new features I'm going to put in, but just a remake (re-release?) of the original, written from the ground up in C++ using the Cinder Library for the OpenGL stuff, not that it needs any hi tech or anything. I've been working on this in what little spare time I have. I'd love your feedback! Oh and possibly also your help. I'd like to know if anyone is able to get the original Atari graphics for Chimera for me in some modern format. It would be dead easy for me to replace the existing Speccy graphics and I'd like the player to be able to select which port they'd want to play. Personally, I always loved the look of the Atari version, and it was the version I loved the most, even if it ran way too slowly! All the best!

One of the best (IMHO) games on the Atari ST, "The Great Giana Sisters", is about to come back on the PC. There is a KickStarter project by former members of the now defunct "Spellbound Entertainment" (known for GianaSisters DS and founded by Armin Gessert, the creator of Giana Sisters on the C64) to make a remake. The game seems largely finished and they seek additional funding to polish it. The release date will be October/November 2012. It is in a 2.5D style (3D viewed from the side like Trine for example) and it looks awesome. For the music they brought back Chris Huelsbeck who is working together with Machinea Supremacy. So I believe that will result in a soundtrack that is worth the game price alone Oh, and if you donate $10.000, you get the only original boxed Atari ST version of "The Great Giana Sisters" too. I knew the game was rare but this must be the most expensive game on the ST. Robert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWxvJoEIZwo

Hi, I write to show a game I realized with Game Editor http://www.game-editor.com. It is an early 80s style platform game with game mechanics similar to donkey kong and manic miner. It can be downloaded for free (both the windows binary and the source code) at http://bluestarinter....org/index.html The video trailer on youtube is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE35UAP1S3Q Following is a brief description of the game: Pino's Tower is a early 80s style platformer where the player has to collect all the fruits present in the level to access the next level. By jumping from platform to platform the player must collect the five fruits in a level while avoiding different type of enemies. The contact of the player with one enemy results in death and the loss of one of the five lives.
