  1. Web99 ===== This program is freeware. Copyright by Klaus Lukaschek 2015-12-28 Version 0.5 Beta 4 *New Introduction ============ The idea of this program is to help you in 3 different areas: - get rid of duplicate Disk Images and Ti Files. - make your Ti Files searchable, even from the TI-99 - access and manage your Ti File Collection from your TI-99 This Tool is programmed in Visual C#, it's .NET Framework 4 Client Profile based and therefore runs on Windows XP or later Windows Versions. It is compiled to run on both x64 and x86 platforms. You will need to have .NET Framework 4 or later, it is sufficient to only have the 'Runtime' installed. The index and search technology that got integrated into the project is the .NET port of Lucene. A serial port (or any USB2Serial solution) is required only if you want to communicate with your TI-99 or if you want to use the Search from your TI-99. Why? ==== Whenever I am on a TI meeting or hitting a new website, it seems that I get tons of disk images, that I manually have to compare against my current collection. I got tired of doing this over and over again. There must be an automatic way to check the new files for their uniqueness. Imagine, having to find a certain Ti File - mostly a program - in your collection. How do you know on which Disk Image and in which Path it is stored? The problem is, a Windows search tool can't look into your Disk Images and gives you a list of Ti Files with the name "ROS". Maybe you would even know the size in sectors, its Filetype, the Ti Diskname or some other Meta Data. However for your Pc your disk image is simply a Pc file with a Pc filename, a Pc filesize and some Date Information. Until now, most people started Ti99Dir or TiImageTool and opened one Disk Image after another until they hit the Ti File. How much cooler would it be if you have something like Google, customized for your TI-99 Disk Images? What if Google would know exactly all TI relevant information about your Disks, and it would let you search by Ti Filename, by Ti Diskname, by Ti Filetype, Size and more. Well, Web99 is trying to become exactly that search engine for you. It is even trying to become such a search engine usable from your TI machine. Uniqueness ========== For each stream of data you can calculate a Hashkey. I am using the MD5 128bit algorithm to generate those. This means the result is a 128bit length Key, usually this is written in hexadecimal form and therefore such a key looks like '88ec1168efbd75617d28fa3ade124dfa'. For our purpose this lenght should be more than enough to ensure uniqueness. Based on the same input, the same Hashkey is produced. So if you have two files, calculate their Hashkey and they are different means that those files are not identical. So comparing becomes a lot easier, we simply need to calculate Hashkeys once for everything and compare those with each other. The dupes will show up immediately because they have the same Hashkey. The check for uniqueness can be done on all kind of levels. So I started the idea to calculate an unique identifier for each Disk Image and every Ti File on my Pc, based on their binary content and meta data. A program would be able to calculate these for a new set of Files and compare each against your collection. 2. I'm working on an Atari 2600 music program, and I'm trying to figure out a good way to get music data from the Atari 2600 to the PC. The best idea I've had so far is to encode the data into audio, and to have the PC record the audio and decode the data. Anyone have any thoughts on this? It seems like it would be pretty easy to modulate the 2600 audio signal into a bitstream that would be reasonably easy to decode on the other end. Transfer rate would probably need to be slow, but the total transfer would probably only be 500-1000 bytes. Other ideas I've had are to display the data as hex and have the user transcribe it. I currently have this implemented, but it's a bit tedious and error prone to transcribe hundreds of bytes of data. Another idea is to use the Atarivox to store data, and then use the 2600daptor to transfer the data to the PC. This seems like a good method, but then the user has to buy $75 worth of extra gear. With the audio method, no extra equipment is needed.
  3. Hi I apologize if this is a common question but a search didnt yield any good matches. I have a reasonable collection of atari's but frankly havent been really using them much. Recently I got a Falcon and installed a new CF card in it from Best. I wanted to transfer a bunch of games to it that I have either sitting on my mac or that is on an SD that is formatted / works with an ultrasatan controller on a regular ST. I tried the SD with the falcon and it doesnt recognize it (people in the know are probably laughing at me now saying they are of course totally different). How does one "en-mass" copy stuff from an old ST Hard disk (effectively) to a falcon? Thanks in advance. humbly Chris
  4. Article: Here's step by step directions on how to transfer or copy a Mii from your Wii U to the Nintendo Switch. This will allow you to use a pre-made Mii for you Nintendo Switch user icon. What you'll need: Wii U Nintendo Switch amiibo of your choice ON THE WII UTurn on your Wii U, login to the user's profile that has the Mii you want to transfer, and go to System Settings. Go to amiibo Settings, then hit Register Owner and Nickname. Touch the amiibo to the GamePad as directed. Change the Owner if needed then hit save. Touch the amiibo to the GamePad again to register the owner. ON THE NINTENDO SWITCHHop over to your Nintendo Switch and load up the System Settings. Scroll down to User then select Add New user. Once you're given the prompt to choose an icon scroll to the Mii tile and click hit. Choose Create New Mii, then select Copy Mii from amiibo. Grab the amiibo you used before and touch it to the NFC touchpoint on the right Joy-Con. Your amiibo should be successfully copied. After it's transferred from the amiibo you can customize the Mii's pose, expression, and completely edit the original Mii. Original Article: http://www.ign.com/wikis/nintendo-switch/How_to_Copy_a_Mii_from_the_Wii_U_to_Nintendo_Switch This was helpful as I wasn't sure how to do this. Not sure what they are doing with the Mii's in the Switchverse, but I've had mine for 10 years now and needless to say i'm a little attached to it.
  5. Greetings, I have been trying to copy some disk images in ATR format via the APE and Prosystem PC applications, via SIO2PC (USB) and Atari 1050 drive. I know the drive and interface work because I've successfully loaded programs from both into my 800XL. The problem is, when I try to transfer the disk image to real floppy, the copy fails - I believe this is because all of the ATR images I'm finding online are double density (180kb), and my stock 1050 disk drive is only designed to read/write single density. Does this sound correct? And if so, is there any convenient way around this, aside from upgrading my 1050 to read/write double density? I'd be content to just load files from the emulated drives available via APE and the SIO2PC interface, but the interface is on loan from a friend so I'd like to get some disks made before returning it. Thanks in advance for any advice!
