I'm pleased to announce the release of the version 4.0 firmware update for U1MB, Incognito, SIDE2, SIDE3, 1088XEL, and 1088XLD. The update includes a redesigned SIDE loader, and completely redesigned BIOS plugins with support for SIDE3, Sophia 2, and PokeyMAX. Also newly introduced is support for an NTSC colour palette in VBXE (loaded transparently when the machine is turned on). User documentation has also been comprehensively updated, with sections covering the new SIDE3 loader and Incognito. Most excitingly, Incognito is now capable of supporting firmware plugins, subject to release of a CPLD JED update which I have been testing for Candle. The SIDE3 loader is now capable of native PDM (FujiConvert) playback as well (see the manual for discussion of all new features). https://atari8.co.uk/ultimate-1mb-firmware-update-4-0-released/ Since I spent the entirety of Saturday preparing and uploading all this stuff (after spending the previous day moving my website and work emails), I'll forego further disucssion for the moment, and hopefully answer any questions as we go on. I will probably make a video showing a topical overview of what's been released as well. All ROMs inlclude the newly released SpartaDOS X 4.49e; I thought we might as well get in sync with the SIDE3 ROM, which uses this version by default. Meanwhile, SpartaDOS 3.x, Bewe-DOS and RealDOS users can find RTC drivers for U1MB and SIDE3 on the APT toolkit disk. I would not be surprised if I screwed something up while preparing the files here, so if anything looks anomalous, please let me know. Likewise, please use this thread to discuss any installation or usability issues. The menus in the setup menu and loader are quite different now (many controls are 'modal' to facilitate interactive facilities via callbacks), but this actually makes things like setting the clock quite a bit easier. Feedback from testers of pre-release versions (indeed, some variation of this firmware has found its way onto all U1MB and Incognito machines which have been through my hands these past few months) has been positive, so hopefully the only work that remains to do will involve minor bug fixes. Meanwhile, now that this update is released, I hope to focus on ambitious new features in the SIDE3 loader, such as FAT write capability, more media playback support, and auto-mounting media. Update (060621) Thanks to Doug_in_NC on Discord for immediately spotting that I'd broken joystick trigger handling in main BIOS 4.02 for U1MB and Incognito. Fixed in 4.03, so please head over to the firmware section and update (U1MB/1088 users may update the 'FIRMWARE.ROM' file, and Incognito users need flash only 'IBIOS.ROM'). Blog post: https://atari8.co.uk/u1mb-and-incognito-firmware-4-0-bug-fix/ The 'complete' ROM images also have the update (disregard file creation date). SIDE3 Loader Update (230621) For those who already updated their SIDE3 loader or are yet to do so, please be sure to download version 0.40, which fixes MegaCart, Sic! and AtariMax 1Mbit/8Mbit emulation bugs. https://atari8.co.uk/firmware/side3/ Update (070721) Blog post: https://atari8.co.uk/u1mb-incognito-1088xel-and-1088xld-firmware-update/

Following several months of development and testing and one year after the prior update (version 2), I'm pleased to announce the release of version 3.00 of the 'alt' firmware for the Ultimate 1MB, Incognito, 1088XEL/XLD, and SIDE/SIDE2. Please head over to the firmware page of my website to download the updates: https://atari8.co.uk/firmware/ New features: Number of BIOS configuration profiles increased from three to four Massively faster and more powerful loader search facility Loader’s built-in FAT DOS now supports subdirectories Loader now remembers the last accessed FAT folder Loader scripts may include paths Loader can now open the location of any already mounted image Usability improvements to the loader and BIOS setup menu Optional synthetic ‘IO sound’ with ATRs and hard disk partitions Improved loader compatibility Auto-booting banked cartridge conversions on SIDE/SIDE2 All hardware-specific HDD functionality moved to plugins Several important bug fixes This thread will cover any installation and usability issues, and discussion of any further updates and fixes. Documentation has also been heavily revised, and we have the exciting prospect of ebiguy's excellent OSS language cart conversions for SIDE/SIDE2. I will be making some quick-start videos when I get time; for now the task of simply getting everything prepared and uploaded was daunting enough. Thanks to the volunteers who tested the beta and release candidate versions, and I hope everyone enjoys the end result.

Trying to create empty ATR files I noted the the provided tools only work on MS-Windows. Since creating an empty file isn't all that difficult I wrote wrote a little tool that can do this macOS and Linux. I also added a verify feature to check existing files for consistency. The tool works for Windows as well. I suggest to compile the file from source code as it is fairly simple will match your operating system so here a description on how to do this: Microsoft Windows Install Alire Download Alire from the Alire website: Start installation and just accept the defaults: Build the application Start the application by clicking on the icon. This will open the Alire powershell terminal window: Use cd to change into an directory of your choosing and type the following commands one at a time. Note the the directory name contains the version number and and hash code of current version and will change with each new release. alr toolchain --install "gnat" alr toolchain --install "gprbuild" alr get "atari_atr_tools" PUSHD "atari_atr_tools_1.1.3_1e2cccbb" alr build --release POPD During the build Alire ask up to 4 questions which should be answered with either Y or 1 depending on the type of question. This will build the tool for your machine. Run the Application The finished application inside the .\atari_atr_tools_1.1.3_1e2cccbb\bin\atr_tools-main.exe directory. Again: adjust for newer Versions. Hi Everybody I hope somebody can help. I've upgraded my U1MB to the latest 'Ultimate' Firmware, and it seems to conflict with my side 3: cartridge (600XL with 64 KB). The firmware completed and verified no problems. When I boot it, it sometimes brings up a 'SIDE' screen and sometimes a 'SIDE3' screen and it's lost all it's ATR file support on the "SIDE3". When I try and reflash it with 'uflash.xex' it says the board is not found (even though it appears on startup and has the 1MB ram shown at the bottom. I have an SDrive Max so I copied the uflash.xex to there but still had the same issue. (also the same issue with Spata Dos X) The computer still plays all the games from the sdrive max which is good news. Any help greatly appreciated. Ultimate 1MB Firmware version 4.2 (24 January 2023)

I'm pleased to (finally) announce the release of version 4.2 of my firmware for Incognito, Ultimate 1MB, SIDE, SIDE2, 1088XEL and 1088XLD. https://atari8.co.uk/firmware/ There's also an updated SIDE3 loader, as well as the updated SIDE Loader packaged for AVG's SIDE emulation mode. Not a great deal has been added in terms of functionality, but everything has been updated to match the general look and feel of the new SIDE3 loader. I have fixed the Sophia 2 plugin (users reported lengthy black-screen pauses, and this was caused by a very nasty bug), and the U1MB BIOS now reports the hardware JED version correctly. Needless to say, we should use this thread to discuss any issues or suggestions.

Friday rainy day project = Fit Ultimate 1MB into my 65XE Remake. Not being happy with the pillar style of mounting the U1MB and that I was only able to find a mounting bracket for the 800XL ( Jeff Thiele Design ), using this as a basis I designed one specifically for the XE models. Like the 800XL version, it only uses the one PCB mount screw to hold it in place, it also has a very small bump to locate it into the RF sheild PCB through hole and to hold it square. Being offset means you can still unscrew it from the main XE PCB with out having to unmount the U1MB from the Mount. I have uploaded the STL to Thingiverse for those wanting to print their own. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6009020 Enjoy

Hello - I'm sure I cannot be the first to encouter this, but I cannot find anybody writting it up, not can I find a solution. I have a setup that works perfectly fine on actual hardware where I have a 130XE, U1MB, and a Side3 cart. On the SD card I have hard drive partitions, including a SpartaDOS 3 partition. With this configuration I can boot to SD3 on that partition and everything works swimingly. However, I have tried to replicate the configuration using Altirra and the SpartaDOS 3 partition will not boot. It does not tell me "NO DOS" or "BOOT ERROR", it goes directly into the internal self test menu. I can access all of the partitions on the SD card using SpartaDOS X on the U1MB. I have the latest firmwares on all devices, both in actual hardware, and in Altirra. I have also made an image of the physical SD card to use in Altirra, so I am certain that the card itself is not the issue. Has anybody else been able to boot a SpartaDOS 3 partition from a Side3 cart within Altirra? If so, how did you get that to work?

This thread has been created for the brave who are embarking on this 1088XEL project alone. This is a place to share your updates, questions, and issues during the course of your journey. Some have already started as others will begin later. Please share what you have done, and anything else that can be of value to everyone completing this board. I have my boards from McRorie, my BOM components from Digi-Key (1 item on Back-Order), UAV Rev D from Bryan, Sophia Board (requires updating, U1MB board (Candle version), which requires an update from v1 to v2. I will be also completing several XEL-CF-][ and JOY2PIC-STIK as well. I will provide updates on those builds too. I will be using a Xytronic 137ESD Solder Station. For the solder I'm using .015 diameter low residue flux core solder with 2.2% flux. It is great to solder with especial with small boards and tight areas where a flux mess is not appreciated. Below, I have soldered the 24 CAP 0.1UF (digi-key 399-9870-1-ND). More to come..... Special Thanks to Michael St. Pierre (mytekcontrols) for which none of this would have been possible!!!

I am pleased to announce the release of version 3.10 of the Ultimate 1MB, Incognito and SIDE firmware, incorporating the recently released SpartaDOS X 4.49, and version 4.0 of the SDX 'soft-driver' for SIDE, MYIDE, and Colleen. Updated APT tools and user documentation are also provided. What's New As well as several minor bug fixes, this release brings with it numerous performance, stability and usability improvements. Some highlights: Loader's recursive search speed improved by 25 per cent. Optional keyboard/joystick acceleration feature in loader speeds up navigation of long directories Long filename extensions now remain on-screen even while filename is scrolling left to right Card hot-swap reliability improved Card compatibilty improved ATR swap button now works in loader Loader issue with SD/CF adapters fixed Stereo POKEY detection now compatible with SimpleStereo v3 ATR swap button can now be disabled on the Incognito Better boot drive handling (fixes issues with some boot loaders run from FAT-hosted ATRs) Improved DCB error checking in PBI BIOS and support for immediate-mode IO XF551 high-speed SIO bug fixed Regression regarding CONFIG.SYS boot drive setting fixed FDISK large volume/disk bug fixed Please see the changelogs for the main BIOS, PBI BIOS and SIDE Loader for a complete list of changes. To download the updates, please visit the atari8 firmware page. SDX 4.49 Thanks to DLT, we have the welcome release of SpartaDOS X 4.49. Unfortunately the ROMs hosted on the official SDX site were put together before I released the updated APT tools and SDX soft-drivers. As ever, however, SDX ROMs for all platforms are included in the new firmware release, with the extra tools I like to provide (notably the LSDEV and LSDSK utilities on the CAR: volume). Note the plethora of ATR disk images I provided in prior updates has been done away with; all ROMs for U1MB and Incognito are included on the corresponding 'FIRMWARE.ATR' disk image. This makes the preparation of subsequent updates a little less labour intensive. Please look at the updated README files in the ZIP archives for complete descriptions of the archive contents. I hope you enjoy the updated firmware and tools, and as always I welcome feedback including bug reports and feature suggestions (although we are rapidly reaching the end of the road when it comes to available code space on the existing hardware). Donations are likewise welcomed and appreciated, although they are by no means obligatory. Special thanks to Lotharek at lotharek.pl for his continued provision of Candle O'Sin's fabulous U1MB, SIDE2 and Incognito devices, and for offering my firmware pre-installed at the point of sale. Please continue to support his invaluable efforts and accept no substitute. As usual, please use this thread to discuss any issues so I can address them as efficiently as possible. Since there is barely any code space left, the idea here is to have a milestone release with no known bugs. All issues known about since version 3.02 have been addressed, but since there have been a fair amount of changes and additions, there's always the possibility of another minor point release. We shall see.

I’m trying to make sense of boot process. even if 1mb has sdx enabled, I guess Fujinet loads its own. I created my SDX system disk for D1 tried to add RDEV to autoexec.bat but it fails. I guess I have to add a DEVICE line to my D1 config sys The one In CAR: has a lot of lines. I’m tempted to copy it to D1 image

How many mods has someone actually squeezed into a 600XL? I love the small size, but realistically I know there is limited real estate inside. It would be great to have everything: U1MB, VBXE, stereo pokey board, u-switch, TK-II or AKI, Rapidus, and I'd have to do the 64k and a/v mods. Is it doable or do I need to play it safe with a larger model?

Hey all, I'm putting a query out to see if anyone has an interest in making XL BOSS, or a forward compatible version of OS B with PBI for the Ultimate 1 MB. I did various tests, and even confirmed with Jazzcat that PBI functions of XL Boss are not working for it, or non-existent. Now the rational for my query to make it PBI supported is this. I found that the game ENCOUNTER!, *Which has other revisions that work with the Base XL version on the Aug 2019 rev of the U1MB update works with other revs of the game. Sure, you'd think that would be the end of that knowing other copies work. But what if you ran into a game that was not? Or just needed to have that straight up backwards 800 compatibility, other than the OS B PAL or NTSC rev. For some reason, the XL Boss rev 2 works perfectly with loading up this un-patched version of Encounter! Now don't get distracted by me repeating this one game. I can live with the work around. What I'm looking for though it a community level update to XL Boss to use with the U1MB on a routine basis with PBI support. The original thread I found on XL BOSS is noted below. I've already had some discussions with Nezgar, and it does seem like a plausible idea to do. There's a few other features of XL Boss that are meaning full to use, and there's even many who've tried to use XL BOSS, but I can't find mention of quirks with PBI. NOTABLE TESTS RAN: Equipment: | Atari 800XL - U1MB | SDMAX - SIO - Gavin SIO board latest rev. | Side test with, same results as U1MB Boss Xl rev. Atari 800XL with OS rom replaced with patched HSIO and Boss XL with reverse Option only mod | Game: Encounter 3 versions ran against the default u1mb OS choices (excluding XEGS) - Either lead to black screen, start screen, but locks on starting the game. U1MB CHANGE: Replaced XEGS with Boss XL Rev 2. - Game runs as normal. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Load Boss only, no cart, no SIO option, loading Sparta up. - Sucess OS works with Sparta seemingly normal. Load Boss with SideCart2 - Cart only mode and ATR mode - Unable to see it - Alternatively J.S.C. ran some inquiries for PBI fumction, and nothing indicated they we're found by the os. Keep in mind, this focus is not on the game, as much as it's an inquiry to make XL BOSS a possible alternative OS for the U1MB. Thanks for your input all!

I'm pleased to announce the release of firmware version 3.02 for the Ultimate 1MB, Incognito, 1088XEL/XLD and SIDE/SIDE2. Since the update's primary purpose is to correct issues present in the version 3.00 and earlier released, it is highly recommended for all users. Please head over to the firmware page of my website to download the updates: https://atari8.co.uk/firmware/ New Features (over version 2.01) Include: Number of BIOS configuration profiles increased from three to four Massively faster and more powerful loader search facility Loader’s built-in FAT DOS now supports subdirectories Loader now remembers the last accessed FAT folder Loader scripts may include paths Loader can now open the location of any already mounted image Usability improvements to the loader and BIOS setup menu Optional synthetic ‘IO sound’ with ATRs and hard disk partitions Improved loader compatibility Auto-booting banked cartridge conversions on SIDE/SIDE2 Bug Fixes For users who previously updated to version 3.00 in July, the following fixes/changes have been implemented: Loader Fixed: Unnamed FAT entries missing from partition list Fixed: Selected entry not consistently tracked during search Fixed: SIDE2 displayed as 'SIDE1' in stand-alone loader's device menu Fixed: Logged directory cluster number corrupted after MAP file processing Changed: Boot drive override (to D1:) now issued on restart if a disk image exists on drive 1 (instead of immediately after mount operation) Changed: No boot drive override issued when 'Boot SpartaDOS X' is selected (allows easy booting from CONFIG.SYS drive after mounting ATRs) BIOS Changed: message and menu item wording Changed: progress bar code rewritten for brevity Added: L+RESET starts loader if SELECT+RESET coldstart hotkey is enabled PBI BIOS Fixed: SIO status command now reliably returns enhanced density bit in first byte (DVSTAT) for 130K ATRs Fixed: Dummy format command now returns error if enhanced density format attempted on single density (90K) ATR Changed: Boot drive override clears after first use Changed: SIO status command for device $20 now returns complement of controller error register in second byte (as per device $3x) Feedback If anyone notices any screw-ups, please let me know directly or via this thread. I sat on this update for several days purely because changing just one byte of code in the firmware necessitates the complete re-assembly of a many ROMs and ATR images, which is repetitive and even excruciating process, especially when one notices a bug while demoing the software on video. As usual: please use this thread to report your experiences, both positive and otherwise. Videos As mentioned above, I've made a couple of videos which attempt to demonstrate some of the more useful features of the SIDE Loader, both stand-alone and when used in conjunction with Ultimate 1MB. The same methodologies apply by and large to Incognito and the 1088XEL/XLD. I'll be making more of these videos, since there's still more to cover regarding advanced usage.

I'm pleased to announce the release of the v.2.0 'alt' firmware for the Ultimate 1MB, Incognito, 1088XEL and SIDE/SIDE2. The update had been slated for release late in 2017, but the emergence of the 1088XEL and the requirement for custom U1MB firmware for the new motherboard heralded a prolonged period of firmware development and redesign for all supported devices. Since the 1088XEL's XEL-CF compact flash adapter can handle dual physical disks, I redesigned the U1MB PBI BIOS to accommodate primary and secondary devices, which in turn prompted significant alterations to the XEX loader. Many useful changes and augmentations were carried back to the 'standard' firmware builds (targeting the SIDE cartridge). Since releasing the 1088XEL U1MB firmware here a couple of weeks ago (which has been subject to a minor fix pertaining to DracOS compatibility since then), I realized that the SDX "soft drivers" (for SIDE, MYIDE, Colleen, etc, which hadn't been updated since 2014) could also benefit from some fixes and augmentations. Likewise the various APT tools (FDISK, ATRMNT, MOUNT, etc) on the 'toolkit' disk, many of which required amendments in order to work with the updated PBI BIOS. Then I remembered that the APT Toolkit manual and the APT API Programmer's documentation hadn't been updated in years either... It seemed imprudent to relase - say - the new SIDE/SIDE2 ROMs with old versions of the soft-drivers and outdated documentation, so the past couple of weeks have been spent on documentation and toolkit/driver updates. I finally started assembling the ROMs and ATRs a few days ago, and even this was a painstaking process. I closed my website down imagining that the site updates and media uploads would be completed within twenty-four hours... five days later, it was still closed. In any case, I completely underestimated the sheer volume of software, firmware and documentation, so I can only apologise to those who have recently been gently pestering me for the U1MB update via email. Many complain of poorly documented hardware and software products in the A8 community, so I hope the time I've spent on four fairly lengthy PDF manuals has not been wasted. Not everything is complete. The MYIDE SDX ROMs and drivers are not yet uploaded and many download sections have placeholders for the moment. But U1MB, Incognito, SIDE and 1088XEL owners may download the latest firmware and tools and consult freshly updated documentation: Download here: https://atari8.co.uk/firmware/ Installation instructions and readme files will be updated in due course. I reached the stage this evening where not uploading everything would delay release by another week or more. As usual, please use this thread to discuss any installation or usage issues. The updates to the SDX soft-drivers (SIDE.SYS, COLLEEN.SYS, etc) have not been subjected to testing by anyone but myself, so if any early adopters encounter problems, please let me know. Also released is the RAPIDISK driver (which allows faster HDD transfers at 20MHz) and Rapidus-specific BIOS plugins for U1MB (also on the 1088XEL). I hope to make some 'quick-start' videos and general guides over the coming days/weeks, but as usual it's all a question of available time.

Well it was only a matter of time before I did something monumentally stupid in this new year. But I certainly didn't think it would be so soon as in the first week. So what happened? Well I had removed one of my upgrade boards (GTIA V-Gate) that had a tied in connection to the U1MB that was also in the system. That tied in connection was to one of the control pins (S0) on the U1MB P4 header, so as to be able to enable/disable the V-Gate board via the U1MB Setup Menu. So here's the story... I had to assemble another GTIA V-Gate board and install it, since I had given my first one away. This was rather important since I now had most all of the U1MB's P2 header connections coming from the accessory support header (J1) on the V-Gate board (without this, the U1MB was dead in the water). The only problem was that I had used a 4-pin header connector for the auxiliary control header (J2) connection on V-Gate instead of the 6-pin that I was suppose to (didn't have a 6-pin connector at the time). So not paying attention, I plugged it in right next to the J1 header (only now offset by 2 pin positions to the right) which meant I had just connected the 'EN' line which was coming from the U1MB S0 control pin to VDD (+5 VDC). Needless to say what was connected to that control pin on the U1MB did not like that. So what was connected? The XILINX CPLD chip, which is the surface mount device with a bazillion very tiny pins on the bottom side of the U1MB board. When I powered up the system the XILINX chip got fried and began getting as hot as a pistol This remained true even after I removed the offending control pin connection, and unfortunately the U1MB board no longer works. Luckily I had a replacement U1MB waiting in the wings, and after updating it's firmware it runs like a champ. So let this be a warning to anyone connecting things to the control pins on a U1MB, be absolutely sure that you have not connected it to +5 VDC (or higher). Because if you do, you'll have a $60 paper weight to show for it - Michael

I've been thinking a little, and I think it would be fairly easy to build a RAM board for the atari 400/800 which would occupy the first RAM slot, have a ribbon cable run out to the 74LS42 address decoder, and provide 64K of RAM and the XL OS to the board. I think there would NOT need to be many soldered modifications, maybe to add a hard reset (or just modify the OS to detect the 400/800 NMI style reset). I would do my best to include a way to enable and disable the upgrade, so you can return to 400/800 mode and have all 4 joystick ports available for use, etc. The main purpose for this upgrade would be to put a U1MB into a 400 or 800, and plug it into this board. The existence of an MMU socket, a 28 pin style OSROM socket, and all of the other necesary signals pinned out for the U1MB (with the exception of /HALT which would require a connection to the CPU board I believe) would make the installation all but plug and play since all 400/800's are socketed. The only non-plug and play bit would be the soldered connection to /HALT on the ANTIC, I believe. In addition to providing U1MB connections, this upgrade could be used standalone as a 64K upgrade, just use an OSROM (would be provided) and an MMU (would probably be present on the board as a CPLD) and it works by itself. I was thinking I would do my best to keep the price below $50, though I suspect it'd be cheaper even (the concept itself isn't all that complex IMO, so I'd estimate $30 at the least). Of course, this is only checking interest, I'm not saying I will do this in quantity just yet, or that everything I said is even correct/that the concept is totally viable. EDIT: also, I know that the incognito is basically U1MB + SIDE converted for the 800. I know there are subtle differences in the software, like the U1MB stuff using a different key in place of help on the incognito. To that effect, hopefully Candle will helpful in this regard, and allow me to make some small changes to the U1MB firmware image to allow easy use with this board, which would have to be flashed into the U1MB once installed. I know this seems a lot like incognito, but the difference is that it also supports the 400. That was my original plan, to make it for the 400, but there's no reason it couldn't work in an 800, so I might as well support it. I don't mean this to compete with incognito, I want to make that clear. EDIT2: typo, there will NOT need to be many soldered modifications EDIT3: 400/800 use 74LS42 as address decoder, not 74LS138.

If anyone has one they are willing to sell, please drop me a line. I haven't had much luck getting mine working. Everything seemed to be ok for a little while. 1UMB working correctly. Now I'm stuck with a dark-green screen upon startup. Nothing seems to change that. So I'm opting for a pre-built one if someone is willing to part with it. The more upgrades the better. Frank ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE: I took my U1MB out of my 1200XL and put it in an 800xl. It worked fine. I reflashed it back to original (I had upgraded to the latest BIOS). Booted back up, was working normal. Plugged in back into my 1200XL and it started working fine. I think I'll wait on the new BIOS for the 1200XL's right now.

Well, finally decided to upgrade my backup 1200xl to U1MB. Ordered from Lotharek (less than 2 weeks and it was here, he's definatley improved). Took my time installing (about 2 hours, checked and re-checked every wire and solder joint). However when it came time to turn it on... what I get is in the attached screenshot. No keypresses seem to have any affect (except Reset, which just brings back the same screen). Power cycling just brings the same. Did I screw up the install? Did I get a bad U1MB? Any quick fixes to get this thing going? I'm heart-sick that I may have destroyed my other 1200xl.

Hi. I'm having this "compulsive obsessive disorder" kind of a problem with myself in the subject of U1MB flashing. Recently I've bricked my U1MB using latest version of the flasher included with U1MB Rom Generator. Original flash chip was AM29F0408 and i simply thought it was incidental thing, so i ordered two pre-programmed chips from Lotharek and all was fine till I felt the feeling to try to do something with it again. Of course my further experiments resulted in bricking the two chips as well (but now after my last attempt at least i know that the flasher probably will work after mounting the atr using MATR tool). The two chips i got from Lotharek were SST 39SF040. I went to my favourite electronic shop today and got them programmed for 5PLN/pc. Somehow the guy couldn't program the AM29F0408 but he programmed another new one for my collection of flash memory chips, so it's not a big deal but now the question: Have you expirienced "timeout errors" during the erasing part of the flashing process? The flashing proceeds but fails after i don't know, maybe 40 banks. Any obvious reason for it to happen? Would be great to have a working flasher. I really don't need a flash programmer at home .
