Vectrex Homebrew Permission and Programs wanted for the NEW "Ultimate Vectrex Multicart" ! HELP!!! Arcade Jason Kopp and Ralf Kornmann are working on a new multicart to replace the existing Super Vectrex Multicart (SVM) ! They are asking for your permission to permission to add your homebrew games and software to their new "Ultimate Vectrex Multicart" (UVM). For version programs are preferred. I purchased the Ultimate 1MB Upgrade recently and have been having a lot of fun with it. One thing I really wanted to do was take advantage of all that extra memory. I had written some programs that copied sectors from one disk to another and because of Atari's limited memory, they had to make several passes in order to copy an entire disk. So I went back and rewrote my sector copiers, allowing them to use bank switched memory to do the copy. Now when they run, they suck an entire single or double density into memory before beginning to write out the copy. It only takes one pass. It is so cool to watch it run. Both programs will automatically detect the density of the drives. Both programs will now also automatically detect and copy an Atari 2.5 disk. SECTCOPY will copy all 1040 sectors. SECTVTOC will copy only used sectors. It is no longer necessary to insert a double density drive in drive 1 before you load the sector copy programs. You can now boot from a single density drive with Sector Copy on it and run it. Then insert a double density source drive and press START. The program will detect the density of the source disk and copy it correctly. Both programs will also automatically detect how much memory you have in your Atari. If you 320 Rambo, 576 CompyShop or a full 1 MB of RAM, the programs will detect and use it. If you have STOCK memory installed, it will also be detected. IMPORTANT: These programs were written for the Ultimate 1 MB upgrade. Atari 130XE machines also have extended memory but these programs should not be used on an Atari 130XE. The memory on these machines is handled differently. Have fun! I've attached an ATR with the programs. They are: SECTCOPY - This will copy all 720 sectors from one disk to another. My formerly threadbare website about a handheld game system that's even less enjoyable than the Supervision [!!]... is back. Now bloated with far more information than you'll ever care to know, to experience it is a grand adventure in masochism. (Though still less painful than actually playing game.com games.) If you're wondering why I've wasted so much time building a virtual shrine to such a useless piece of plastic stuffed with shoddy electrical components, it's simple: I did it because I knew no one else would. Amen. So come on by and relive all your game.com favorites! (I'd say, "You'll be glad you did," but we both know you'll regret it.)

Hi All, This thread is intended for people that want to ask questions about the Ultimate Cart. Due to the good efforts of Santosp, there's a lot of new users that have just got this cartridge - and there are bound to be questions. So this thread is the place to do it. Before posting, it might be worth checking if the answer is in the documentation I've written for the cartridge. A copy of this should be sent out with every cartridge. About 2015-2016 Forum user named "Byte Knight" was upgrading Colecovision Flashback unit to what he called "The Ultimate" Is there anyone out there who knows if this person is still doing this and knows how to get in touch with him. This information would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked all over, and not found a list of verified compatible SD and CF media for Ultimate Cart (SD) and Incognito/SIDE (CF). Is there such a list? If not, let's start one here. For example, I am using red & blue style Sandisk 4GB SD card and 1GB CF. They work well, but the CF is getting full and I want to know what to buy to replace it with a larger one. Also, in the Ultimate SD cart thread, a Toshiba FlashAir SD card was mentioned. I found both W-02 and W-03 versions of this available. I ordered the W-03 version in hopes that it will work. The thread didn't mention what version it was that is known to work, although the link pointed to a W-03, so I'm hoping I don't get burned again. So, the question is: What media do YOU use? And, just as important: What media is to be avoided? Thanks in advance. -
Thanks to the efforts of foft (Mark Watson) and his Atari FPGA project, there is an open source FPGA pokey implementation available. As a little Easter bank holiday project, I thought I'd have a go at using it to make a dual pokey cartridge using a prototype of the Ultimate Cart as the starting point... Two of the fpga pins act as audio left and right, and I've hooked them up to a low pass filter on some perfboard, along with a 3.5mm stereo jack (which leads to my TV's audio input). It was pretty easy to make a firmware for the Ultimate Cart that included two of foft's pokeys, his DAC and a bit of VHDL to hook them up to the cartridge port. Then I modified TMC and RMTPlayer (with a hex editor) to output to the two pokeys at $D50x and $D58x. I guess technically this atari has 3 pokeys now (one inside, and two on the cartridge). The two pokeys use about 10% of the Ultimate Cart's FPGA, so there is plenty room for more. This was just for fun, and perhaps to show a little of what is possible with a FPGA hooked up to the cart port. To make a proper external dual pokey, we'd probably want to use ECI+Cart port, so the pokeys could appear in the correct places in the memory map. MP3 of TMC playing via the dual pokeys attached. Open source 3d printed shell for Ultimate Cart

Hi all, The original shell for my Ultimate Cart was a hacked Atari grey cart shell, which I spray painted blue. Unfortunately the paint has rubbed off a bit, and its now looking rather tatty. So, now that I've got a 3d printer of my very own, I decided to design a shell for the Ultimate Cart. Like the rest of the project, this shell is open-source. I've uploaded both the STL files and the design files (OpenSCAD) to the github site: https://github.com/robinhedwards/UltimateCart/ The shell should fit any PCBs produced using the board files on github. This should be most of the boards out there, with the exception of the redesign by Panos that he used for his later runs (but I think these came with nice shells anyway). If you're not sure, compare your board to the pictures on github - if the connectors and screw holes are in the same places, it should fit. The cart has been tested for fit in my 65XE, and 800XL. Flashjazzcat has been kind enough to test it for me in a XEGS, 800 and 1200XL, and reports it fits well. If you don't have access to a 3d printer, I'm happy to make a few of these for others. This would be using the same printer and filament colours (bronze & red) as the pictures above. The price would be £22 + P&P (£1 to UK, £3 elsewhere). Send me a PM if interested. Robin

Hi All, One thing I really wanted to add to the Ultimate Cart was an easy way to use XEX files on the cartridge. Thanks mainly to flashjazzcat, we've now added this as a feature to the firmware. XEX files present on the SD card can now be browsed and launched just like cartridge/ROM files. Loading is practically instantaneous. You can program the attached new firmware to your Ultimate Cart using the (free download) Quartus 15.1 programmer. You will also need a USB Blaster (<$10 on ebay). Consider it a beta - there may be the odd bug. This firmware also replaces my original menu with the improved version by flashjazzcat. Since this is now part of the firmware, you should remove any older version of it from the SD cart (i.e. remove _BOOT.ROM if you have it). This will become the current firmware, and I'll upload the source files to github once this has had a bit of a wider test. I'm sure this will be a very welcome addition to the cartridge firmware, and praise and thanks should be directed to flashjazzcat who wrote the XEX loader and the improved menu - tasks both way beyond my 6502 skills! Now, I socketed the ROM and the MMU in my XEGS and installed the Ultimate cables. I now only have to solder the CPU connections. But I vaguely remember that I need to configure a XEGS mode, but I can't find any reverences to it anymore. Is this the P3 header on the ultimate board?
