  1. Recently picked up a non working Vader unit and it is using the PS I use for my modded and working 4S woody, Vader doesn’t have show any voltage at the regulator, I had extra new main cap and VR and changed those out for the heck of it and no change. What’s the proper next diagnostic steps in terms of what to check with my meter? Thanks!
  2. Long story short....I need the internal board. No case, no controllers, no cords, JUST the board. Mine took a poop. Preferably working lol
  3. Picked up a Polyvox Vader today in a bundle with some Brazilian games. It has a hard wired power lead and a switch on the base between 110v 220v. The closest I have to this is a 115v 230v. I guess the extra 5-10v isn't going to hurt it that much (but it is weird to hear an Atari buzz) I've tried tuning it in but I get wavy blue lines on the screen and no sound. I've read that they use PAL-M which is a format my HDTV doesn't have. The systems my TV can tune are [B/G] [D/K] [L] it works best on [B/G] My HDTV has colour modes for [PAL] [SECAM] [NTSC 4.43] [NTSC 3.58] but none of the work you have to let it tune on [AUTO] This is staying firmly in my collection but I was wondering if anyone else in the UK has had better results.

  5. Hello, Found this in the basement of my parents. Do you know if it worth something ? edit : sorry for the weird behaviour of photos and link ... I am on mobile... 6. Recently got an 2600 (Vader) and gave it an composite mod. That mod seemed to work fine for a few times but after a while gave increasingly more glitches with each power cycle. First blocks in the screen, then the games where effected by the power switch (in combat suddenly the tanks moved), then the image stopped working and just getting a buzzing sound and now I only get a black screen without sound. What could cause this issue?
  7. Hello everyone! After purchasing a "Vader" model for my collection from the flea market, I have been having strange problems with its functionality. I don't think this has happened to other collectors, but I keep encountering a static-y screen with no visuals whatsoever. (PS. It might be hard to see, but there is a bunch of dots on the screen when it shows black. I am new to this website, so I am unsure of whether this has happened to the collectors. I cleaned the switches and important parts of the Atari, in addition to swapping out system chips. I disassembled it recently, and noticed that the inside of the cartridge slot is damaged. Could this be the source of the problem? 002.MOV
  8. Got a 1984 Vader 2600 set with a Sword Quest poster. This might be my fave model vcs. Rockin some Phoenix on the Panasonic beast.
  9. OK, Here's how I'm going to do this. I need to sell my Vader 2600. I don't want to, but I'm not using it and I need the money for more important things. I'm going to list it without pictures, until I see that someone is actually interested, at which point I'll add photos of everything, along with a better description of all the included accessories. I just figure, if there's no interest right off the bat, I don't feel like getting everything unpacked and taking photos while I'm dealing with these kidney stones. I'll only be able to ship to the continental US, due to shipping costs and and all the other problems that happen when shipping to another country. Now, on to the description of what I'm selling and the prices. I have a Vader that's been fully refurbished, new caps, power regulator, etc. The shell is in really nice shape, It's AV modded and has a RGB color changing power LED installed. It will come with an original power supply, AV cable, 2 refurbished Flashback joysticks, and 20 random 2600 games (no duplicates). $100 with free shipping. I also have a Wico Bat joystick, in nice condition in the original box. A set of Epyx 500xj joysticks, nice condition A rebuilt set of Paddles that work flawlessly A recently cleaned and refurbished quickshot 1 in the original box. A sealed boxed copy of Warlords for the 2600, box is mashed, but still looks decent. I also have rebuilt original CX40 joysticks or a few different aftermarket ones. I can add or substitute any of these items to the above set for an added fee. I'll be 100% honest, I'm not sure how much this stuff is worth right now, so I just guessed at prices based on the amount of money I need and how much shipping will cost for items this large. I can be flexible on the prices as long as I don't feel like I'm taking a loss. Now, if you are REALLY interested in this stuff, let me know and I'll get the pictures on here. I want to avoid ebay if at all possible, but that's my next step if I can't find a buyer here. I'd much rather deal with friends and skip paying eBay and Paypal fees. One more thing, if anyone is interested, I have a boxed Atari Flashback 4 with wireless joysticks. I'd be willing to sell or trade it. $30 with free shipping or I'll trade for repairable 2600 paddles..
  10. This lot is for the collector who actually wants to play all the games, and is as comprehensive a collection of hardware, carts, and documentation as can be found, minus the holy grails. Included Hardware: 1. Clean but unmodified 4-switch Vader console complete with original Atari power supply and useless antenna switch box (for the sake of authenticity). There is an RCA/COAX adapter so it can be connected directly to any TV with COAX input. Manual also included. 2. Two standard CX-40 Joysticks 3. Two PAIRS jitter-free Paddles (for Warlords parties) 4. Two Driving Controllers (for Indy 500) 5. Two Keyboard Controllers (all Keyboard games included) 6. One Video Touch Pad (with overlay for Star Raiders) 7. One Track & Field Controller (game included) 8. One Kids Controller (ALL Kids games included) 9. One Trakball (great for Missile Command) 10. One Light Gun (for Sentinel) ...and even - yes EVEN, I say... 11. One complete set of Remote Control Wireless Joysticks (with two 9v batteries). I tested the range and they work up to 15 feet. Manual included. Included Games: 151 unique carts comprising 128 titles (with 23 label variants) representing EVERY title Atari released that AtariAge ranks from 1 to 7 in its Rarity Guide. Please review this excerpt from the Rarity Guide for specific titles: AARarityGuide.pdf 107 of the included carts were acquired by me at retail or directly from Atari between October of 1981 and March of 1991, so they have not been in circulation. The other 44 have been collected since October of 1999 from various sources, mostly dealers online and at conventions. The variants are attributable to having bought whole collections from friends. There is at least one game manual for every title (some manual variants are included as well) for a total of 135. Every cart is NTSC unless otherwise noted. Asterix, for example, is PAL because the NTSC version does not fall within the 1-7 rarity range. I play PAL games on an old TV that has vertical hold so I've never had qualms about collecting PAL. This photo of Xenophobe in play on the included Vader console shows that TV: Label conditions are mostly near-mint for the uncirculated carts, though actiplaque does appear on some labels (indicated). Variants could have some label damage, such as the 1987 Stargate cart (holes). Though no boxes are included, ALL inserts that came with games ARE included! That means comics, overlays, warranty cards, and any other sundry documentation Atari chose to pack-in. All are stuffed within the manuals, which are packed with their respective carts. I did NOT include ALL the inserted catalogs, but there is ONE of each in the collection, totaling 20. There is also the Atari Log Book, unsoiled. Everything has been tested TOGETHER and works, of course, but if the buyer finds that ANY aspect of this collection is unacceptable upon delivery, I will do whatever is necessary to make it right at my expense. Logistics: The whole mess will be packed in one large box (see photo)... ...because it IS cheaper than splitting it up into smaller boxes. The games will be packed in a group of small boxes within the large box. Each hardware item will be separately wrapped in bubble. Box dimensions: 31" long X 21" wide X 11" high. It weighs just under 50 pounds. I will ship anywhere in the world and via any means chosen by the buyer, but UPS is highly recommended, and insurance is a must. The cost to ship this from the east coast of the US, where I live, to the west coast, for example, will be between $90 and $100 via either US Postal Service or UPS Ground. Since I'm not entirely certain this will sell, I have not packed it for shipping yet. Once payment is confirmed please allow a few days for prep. I will provide tracking info once the chosen carrier has the package in hand. Price: I am asking $400 if payment is made via money order, $412 if via PayPal, plus shipping and insurance. First come, first serve. Questions are welcome, via this thread or PM. Specific details and/or photos will be happily provided.
  11. So, trying to have a long story short. Long time ago bought a Flashback 2 with some games off eBay. The listing said "did not work", yeah the FB2 worked, guessing the person got confused on how the games connected to them. Well I always had this idea of doing the FB2 cart mod inside of an actual Atari 2600. You know, wire it all up so the toggles for the actual legit 2600 interact instead with the FB2 board and get to play the few games I have that way. Eventually, recently, I found a cheap listing on the eBay for an Atari. Sweet. Listed as "broken or parts" but hey, that works for me, I only wanted the case and the switches. Plus, come to find out it was a Vader model which is what I wanted (sorry, not a fan of wood grain). Start looking into it, all my games would work on the FB (except maybe one, Sky Skipper, it wasn't listed as working or not) but I kept looking here which led me to the AV mod. I figured, hey that looks simple enough. Remove a few things, add a couple things, bam composite Atari and if it doesn't work, hell I could just go and do the FB2-2600 mod I'd imagined. So.... almost done, bear with me... I go get some direction on what to take out, and start doing it. Desolder all the parts I need, nice. I don't have the transistors or anything to finish the mod, but was fun doing what I could. Put it all back together and I notice after screwing it up that the board wiggles when I move the switches. Didn't do that before. Open it up, toss the top part of the shielding back into place (the directions I had said you could pitch them), put it back together, move toggles, not as much wiggling. Unscrew, place the bottom shield back into place, put back together, no more wiggling at all. So I guess the question I have here is... a) do I need the shielding after all? I mean I'm not against dremeling out the majority of it so it has the 'bumper' to hold it in place, just curious. Revision 16 board. Is there something else I could do to hold the motherboard in place in the console without the shielding there? Or is this just something we accept and live with? Also, b) my FB-n-2600 idea, where I'm using the 2600 cart slot and all the toggles, switches, controller ports to control the FB board, how crazy is the idea? I could imagine a mess of wires but beyond that. Space wise it looks like it'll fit, and it was not only my original idea, but currently my back up idea if in case the unit actually is broken like the eBay listing said it was. And no, they didn't say what was wrong with it.
  12. Hey everyone, I'm looking to sell an Atari 2600 "Vader" console that is having some issues. I took a chance on it at a thrift shop and cleaned it up a little bit but in my testing the unit, it does not play any games. It successfully receives power but does not display anything when a game is inserted. It does, however, power on when no game is inserted and displays random lines/video patterns and varying audio tunes. Not sure if this is a easy fix or not, but figured someone on here would be up to the repair task! I would be happy to include the console manual, power supply and an RF adapter for plug and play on a modern TV. Shoot me an offer and I can get you a shipping quote if you provide your zip code. Thanks!

  14. Hey Everyone, I need some recommendations and help with a project I am working on. I have an early Sunnyvale heavy sixer I picked up of craigslist recently (2 years ago probably..lol) and it looks like it's had a slightly rough life. Since I have a minty heavy sixer already, I thought this one would be fun to do a project with. I have always loved the look of the Vader 2600, and I always though a heavy sixer would look great in that color scheme. Normally I would never "deface" a classic like a heavy sixer, but since this one needs some TLC I though why not. So what I would like to have done is the following. 1. Fix Heavy Sixer: Gets a black screen with some static. I don't think it needs much. 2. AV Mod heavy sixer- I would like an AV mod with true stereo, S-Video if possible, and a Red LED over on the left side of the unit. 3. Custom Paint- I would like it done up in the Vader color scheme, with the orange switch surround blacked out and the woodgrain done in a glossy professional manner, with a new Silver Atari Logo on the left hand side and a custom silver "Heavy Vader" in a similar font over on the right hand side. Not having the skill to do these things myself, i'd like to find someone on here who can do one, or all three of these things, in a clean and professional manner. I'm willing to break up the work if need be, but the less times i have to ship it the better! I'll post after pics when it's done for all to enjoy! Please help me find the right person to breath some new life into this classic!
  15. Hi! I'm new, but for a long time I browse this forum. Now decided to set up an account here. I have common problem with RF signal from my Atari 2600. I just removed RF Modulator box, because i want to do an composite signal modification. On some pages describing that mod i should get +5V from PIN 3 of the RF box pinouts. I have nothing there, even with box installed it gaves me maximum +0,4V and was slowly decreasing... On PIN 4 i have constant +1V (with and without RF box installed), but if i switch off and on rapidly, that value sometimes changes from 0,7 to 1,5V and is constant as long as i don't turn power switch off. If i turn on normally, then here is always +1V. On PIN 5 theres +5V when "channel" switch is set to 3, and 0V when channel 2 Can u tell me why is there so weird voltages on pin 3 and 4?
  16. I found this in my console stacks yesterday. I've never seen a 4-switch Vader promo before. Especially one manufactured in Sunnyvale.
  17. I'm gonna buy a not working wood paneled one for a small amount of money, because it's very rare in my country (Hungary), but you can find a lot of Vaders and Jr.-s. I'm asking you if the case of the Vader and the wood model is the same and could I just put the Vader motherboard into the wood one?
  18. I'll get right to it - there's a problem with my 2600. After it's been running for a while, the colors begin to change. The only big one I've noticed is the transition of blue to green, though there may be more. I've attached a picture of what it looks like. It's not an actual screenshot from the system, it's an approximation made from a screenshot in Stella that I doctored up in MS Paint. Any ideas? Suggestions? Should I just throw it out? I have a theory though - I'm using a stock power supply that is damaged - I have to have the cord in just the right position to get it to work. I read a post a few years ago that said these power supplies are made of bad components and over time lose resistance, thus letting in more voltage than the system can take. This can lead to an Atari Barbecue, which I fear is happening in this case. If it helps at all, I'm also using a first-run Harmony cart from 2011. Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi All, I recently got a Atari 2600 Vader (4 switch). The problem I have is with the video. The bottom of the screen has a verical bar on each side below the main picture. Also, the left side of the screen I see tearing. Anyone know what can cause this? Thank You.
  20. Hey guys I came across this a couple days back and I need some input on it and I know you guys are the right ones to ask. This one is outside of my field of expertise so any info to be contributed would be greatly appreciated and I'm apologizing ahead of time if this is a dumb question.. I'm trying to figure out if this Atari is NEW in Box or just CIB??.The AC adapter definitely seems new as its in its original box that seems to have never been opened. Were these atari 2600 vader systems " factory sealed" when they were produced or did they just come enclosed in this box? Looking at the box there is no sign of where it would have been sealed with sticker, No signs of glue, etc. I was told this was brand new and "never used" but i wanted to run it by you guys and see what your opinions were on it. Like i said this isn't my cup of tea. I've tried doing my research but couldn't find too much on this one. I saw a vader system bundled with 2 controllers, pac man, and combat on EBAY and it said sealed in the listing, however this particular console didn't come bundled with that stuff so I didn't know if that listing was relevant to my current situation. Let me know what you guys think? Thanks again!
  21. I'm looking for an NTSC Atari 2600, preferably the black one (called Darth Vader, right?). I only need the actual console, got everything else. It doesn't need to be an exhibit object, I'm going to use it for gaming. Dust, dirt, poor RF cable or other minor faults is not a problem (even if a perfect one is nice). If you have one to spare, let me know.
  22. For sale in great condition is an Atari 2600 Vader with direct RF hookup, Power Supply (spliced together), Controller and the following games: Pac-Man Vanguard Midnight Magic Moon Patrol Donkey Kong Cosmic Ark Kool-Aid Man Will ship within the U.S. with tracking confirmation for $60 shipped.
  23. Hi, I was hoping that someone might have 2600 'Vader' for sale in the UK. Preferably one with original power supply, rf lead and a least one joystick. But would be happy with just a working console (I have 3rd party leads and joystick I use with my 6-switch woody and Jr.). Cheers, Lewis
