  1. Following @BSRSteve suggestion, I propose to collect into this new dedicated thread our very interesting exchanges about Intellivision variants. I believe variants could deserve a dedicated place where to deepen any possible aspect, as much as we like, when the outstanding www.intvfunhouse.com database doesn’t provide us with an immediate answer. May the Variants be with you!
  2. This post is intended to accompany the Aquarius Collecting List post, which can be found here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/301304-aquarius-aquarius-collecting-list/ I've wanted to create a post like this for a long time now, but I wanted to wait until I had fully completed my Aquarius set (all boxes, all overlays, all manuals, all carts). As of this month (March 2023), I have successfully done that! The goal of this post is to document the contents of each Aquarius cartridge with photos, determine the differences between each variant, and provide a reference for future collectors. A common topic in the Aquarius community that I have noticed is the exact contents of the later releases. They are extremely hard to come by, are often missing overlays, and the manuals provide incorrect information, and so until now the exact contents have not been documented. I have been lucky enough to acquire every overlay with each of my carts, so this post will fix that issue. Secondly, I would like to document Aquarius variants. Aquarius titles typically had at minimum two variants: a Mattel release and a Radofin release. Radofin releases were produced after Mattel sold the Aquarius' rights back to Radofin, and were produced in smaller quantities and are much more common in Europe than North America. They can be identified by the removal of Mattel branding from the packaging and in many cases the addition of 1 or more languages other than English to the packaging. There are more variants for some titles, such as Finnish language manuals. In the future, I will make another post similar to this one covering hardware and their variations, and possibly one for cassettes as well. Here we go! This post will document 21/20 of the Aquarius library, or in other words the full set as well as the store demonstration cart. 4K Memory: Total Contents of Mattel Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge. Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Manual. Only the Radofin version contains a manual, and this has been verified with sealed copies of 4K memory. Differences between Radofin and Mattel Variants: Removal of Mattel branding, addition of several languages, addition of a paper manual. 16K Memory: Total Contents of Mattel Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Special Notice Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Manual. Only the Radofin version contains a manual, and this has been verified with sealed copies of 16K memory. Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Cardboard Tray, Cartridge, Manual, Left + Right KB Overlays. Differences between Radofin and Mattel Variants: Removal of Mattel branding, addition of several languages, manual binding is no longer spiral. Note that the Radofin version of this title still uses a Mattel Electronics branded manual. This is not a mistake, as I have confirmed this with 3 copies of the Radofin variant. Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Manual, Left + Right KB Overlays, 2 Controller Overlays. Chess No Mattel variant was released. Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Manual, Left + Right KB Overlays. Note that this is the only game that does not include controller overlays. This has been verified with multiple copies, and the manual does not state that controller overlays are included. It is likely that a variant of Chess exists that has a small label with the title in the corner of the box's front, instead of a full color box art. Also note that the box art for Chess and Zero-In read "Cartridge Instructions". This is an example of Radofin's poor QA towards the end of the system's life cycle. Zero-In No Mattel variant was released. Total Contents of Radofin Variant: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge, Manual, Left + Right KB Overlays, 2 Controller Overlays. Note that although this game's manual states only one controller overlay is included, there are actually two in a complete copy. This is an example of Radofin's poor QA towards the end of the system's life cycle. Unfortunately for variant collectors, Zero-In does have a variant. Instead of a full color box art, it only has a small printed label with the game's title in the corner. The two variants are pictured on the right. Also note that the box art for Chess and Zero-In read "Cartridge Instructions". This is another example of Radofin's poor QA towards the end of the system's life cycle. Space Speller No Mattel variant was released. Store Demonstration Cartridge (NOT REQUIRED FOR FULL SET) It is unknown if there are variants, and since this is the only known boxed copy, it is possible there are inserts missing. This cartridge is not required for a full Aquarius set since it was not available commercially, and is only included here for reference. Total Contents: Box, Plastic Tray, Cartridge. That's all! If anyone can provide photos for the missing Radofin variants, that would be greatly appreciated, and I will add them to the main post. If additional variants are discovered, they can be posted here and added to the main post. I hope this serves as a helpful reference for both future and veteran collectors for the Aquarius. It will be linked to from the Aquarius Collecting List thread, which is pinned in the Intellivision/Aquarius subforum. Thank you for reading through this behemoth of a post. More discussion for the Aquarius can be found at the discord server, here: https://discord.gg/TjCZZZ8HZQ We are always happy to welcome new members!

  5. Time for another Cmart mini-collection. This time we'll look at all the ECS games, including all variations, as well as all the hardware. Let's start with an overview of everything. (Except the bloody ECS Synths, which I forgot about and had to include later). This includes all the variations of the 6 games, 13 in total, plus the two new Intelligentvision games just for fun (and completeness ). There are also two versions of the ECS Computer Module, the more common white version (the North American release), and the less common brown version (for PAL land). There are also white and brown versions of the ECS Music Synth, but strangely they both come in the box with the white Synth on the front. For reasons I'm not clear on, I now seem to be able to only post one picture per post, so I'm going to take up the next nine posts to fill in the details. And now for the usual disclaimer....if anyone finds something ECS related that I don't have, you know what to do. I'll make it worth your while. (In trade Rev, and by that I mean games.)
  6. I could swear I had read a discussion here some time ago about there being two versions of the first TI Home Computer, the TI-99/4 but can't seem to find it anywhere. I am asking because I've recently gotten a hold of one of these, but am waiting on a cable to arrive in order to hook it up to a modern display in order to find out if it even still works. I'm just curious to know what was different between the two if indeed there were two versions of it. Unfortunately the one in my possession had the serial number scratched off of it so it may be impossible to determine which one I have. I think it would be based on the serial number matching up to the production run. Regardless, if someone could confirm or deny that there were two different 4's, I'd greatly appreciate it.
  7. Hey, everybody. I have a question regarding Apollo's box variants, specifically about the red boxes. From what I've seen, Apollo had two versions of its red boxes. The main difference I've noticed is with regard to the Apollo logo which appears on the bottom-left corner of the box cover, as well as on the back of the box. In one variant, the word "APOLLO" appears in red, and in the other, it appears in orange. My question is, which one of these came first? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.
  8. Kinsey collects Xbox 360 Controller variants and she brings some over to show us, including different colors, artwork, attachments and much more. Yes, it’s a THING & it’s pretty cool!
  9. I haven't really seen a post for Tron Solar Sailer variants so with the recent thread about the I.I. version of it I've gone ahead and listed them here. 1) Made in U.S.A. - This I believe is the most common version as all the duplicates that I have are made in the U.S.A. As with the other Intellivoice games, this version is in a trayless pocket box with the cart, overlays and manual all made in U.S.A. 2) Made in Hong Kong - This is rarer that the U.S. version in my opinion. As with the other Intellivoice Hong Kong versions, it is in a plastic tray box with cart and manuals made in Hong Kong. The cart label also has the larger label with rounded corners and larger font. The overlays are printed in the U.S. (I think all the overlays are printed in U.S.A.). One interesting difference I noted was with the manuals: the layout is different as you can see in the following pictures: The first interior page on the H. K. version does not have a page # while the U.S. version starts with "1." 3) USA Intellivision, Inc - This would obviously be the rarest one and as with other I.I. versions it appears it was sold sans box - just the cart, overlays and b&w instructions in a baggie. The one I have has the b&w manual printed in the U.S.A, the gold label cart and overlays printed in U.S.A.. I don't think that there was a white label cart version. What I though was interesting is that this manual is printed in the U.S. but is copied from the Hong Kong version. If there is any incorrect information please feel free to correct me!
  10. I have a few items I will take offers on over the next week before they hit eBay. Only offers in a PM will be considered, any posted here will not count as a legitimate offer. You may make more than one offer on any item, highest will be used. Next Sunday at Noon Pacific I will, stop accepting offers and declare winners. When you make an offer, do not include shipping. Shipping will be actual shipping to your location calculated when I receive your address. Check back often as I will be adding more titles throughout today.
  11. I've been working on this awhile, but figured it may be about time to give it some exposure: The INTV Funhouse Variants Browser! http://intvfunhouse.com/games/variants.php It's still got some bugs, but please let me know when you find something wrong in the behavior as well as in the data. There are many features missing, and the page doesn't have a title bar or anything spiffy. So consider this also a request for help in IDing the bugs and requesting features. The behavior is still a little strange sometimes when dealing with searching by language, and much of that data is not accurate or consistent - I'll need a lot of help and input from this community to get that fixed up. And a lot of patience, too! The lists also are not sortable, though they are ordered at least somewhat sanely. Another missing feature is the ability to easily request a correction or submit info, though a PM from here or a message submission from the links at the page footer will do as well. You should be able to at least see easily how many variations of boxes there are for a game, labels, manuals, etc. Please give it a try, and let me know what you think!
