  1. From Alberts update today: "One upcoming homebrew to check out is Xevious, an original, authentic port of the popular arcade game distributed by Atari. This port has been written from scratch by AtariAge user Shamus, and will be available in cartridge form once complete." That's the first i've heard of it! Very cool, hope there is a 2 player option. Can't wait, has anyone heard anything further or know of a pre-order list?
  2. Is it true that Atari had plans on its drawing board during 1983 to release Xevious for its 5200 Super System, but ultimately dropped it because of declining 5200 sales and the impending video game crash that took hold at the end of that year? I'm also wondering if they planned to program a port of said game for the ColecoVision? ~Ben
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlq360e3bdI I wonder if Opcode is interested in doing this? Released in December 1982 by Namco in Japan and all other markets except North America, and in January 1983 by Atari for North American sales. From the USA perspective, no console ports of this game appeared until Atari released this for its 7800 system in 1987, followed by Bandai's NES release in 1989. But, I wonder what the ColecoVision version of Xevious would've looked like if on a 32K ROM cartridge, in the same style of graphics as other AtariSoft efforts like Dig Dug and Jungle Hunt?? 4. Here is a hack of Xevious that started out in this thread. List of changes: Replaced "Xevious" logo with one that looks more like the arcade. Tweaked the Salvalou (player ship) sprite to be slightly more arcade-like. Changed various colors for added detail and to make some things stand out more, such as explosions. A side effect of making the water lighter is that the forest now shows more detail and looks much better IMO. Xevious (Title+Color Edit).a78 Xevious (Title+Color Edit).bin Here are 300dpi color labels: 1st in original art, 2nd with blue sky, 3rd with black gradient over blue sky.
  5. Played Zanac last night and found I actually like it better than Xevious. In my opinion, Zanac is better.
