My hope in creating this post is to establish a single "go-to" thread here on AtariAge dedicated to the Emerson Arcadia 2001 console (and its many licensed "clones.") I'm not going to dive into a history lesson here, but the Arcadia 2001 was developed by Universal Appliances Limited (UAL) out of Hong Kong and released under license in the US market by Emerson in May 1982 (more details on this here). It was only produced for about 1.5 years in the US. There are 22 confirmed US releases but due to UAL having issued many licenses for related systems (more than 30!) around the world, that number increases to around 50 or so. While *most* Arcadia titles are knock-off Atari games some are actually lesser-known licensed arcade games, including Route 16, Jungler and Jump Bug. Have an Arcadia 2001 but want to play cartridges from one of the clone systems? You're in luck! The Arcadia 2001 is fully compatible with many of its clones (technically it's software-compatible with all of the clones, but pinout differences with some models - looking at you, MPT-03 - render the carts physically incompatible). Cartridges fully compatible with the Arcadia 2001 include: Bandai Arcadia (Japan; four Japan-exclusive titles), Leisure Vision (Canada), Advision Home Arcade (France), Hanimex HMG-2650 (Germany), Schmid TVG-2000 (Germany), Tele-Fever (Germany), Leonardo (Italy) and Tunix Home Arcade (New Zealand), to name a few. The Video Game Critic has reviewed many of the Arcadia titles here. Thinking about becoming an Arcadia collector? Be sure to check out @Blazing Lazers's Arcadia 2001 Rarity Guide here. Some titles are extremely tough to track down, so go for a complete set at your own risk, or maybe "cheat" and mix in some Leisure Vision-branded releases, etc. Want a multicart? You're in luck. AtariAge user @5-11under sells a DIP switch-style multicart for $90 shipped. Your choice of short cartridge or long cartridge. A full list of games included on the multicart is available here. The multicart thread in general is available here. Another multicart has surfaced in recent years out of Italy by Max Idem (musicmax3@gmail.com), which uses toggle buttons on the cart with a digital counter (on the cart) for game selection. This European offering has fewer total programs but does include Tetris (even though it has an active copyright). It runs 120 Euros plus shipping. Need a console box protector? You're in luck. How about game box protector? Same size as Atari 2600 - boom! Got a faulty Arcadia controller? Here's a repair guide. Interested in an RGB mod for your Arcadia console? Look no further than right here. How 'bout an Arcadia High Score Club? It looks like it may have been a couple of years, so perhaps send a note to @ballyalley to express interest in getting it going again. If you don't have a console, you can always play under emulation. I'm by no means an expert on this console, but hope you find this helpful and that we can use this thread moving forward. Also be sure to check out this extremely valuable resource for more details: Emerson Arcadia 2001 Central.

I've decided to sell my spare Emerson Arcadia 2001 (and compatible) consoles. I have one Arcadia 2001 and one Leisure Vision available. If you're not familiar with the Leisure Vision, it is the Canadian version of the Arcadia 2001 and is fully compatible with all Arcadia 2001-branded titles and vice versa. If you're new to the Arcadia 2001 and compatibles scene, check out the Arcadia 2001 Fan Appreciation Thread here on AtariAge that I created late last year. Here are the two bundles that I put together; everything has been cleaned and fully tested and works great: Emerson Arcadia 2001 - $199.99 + shipping (OBO) ***SOLD*** Arcadia 2001 console (the two controllers and RF video cable are hardwired) The center sticks in the middle of the directional discs on the controllers are removable, if you'd rather have an Intellivision feel Compatible power supply (while not the OEM power supply, it is the same brand as the OEM version and is set to the proper specs - use the plug circled in the provided picture) Four Arcadia 2001-branded games: Cat Trax cartridge with original box (common) and three loose cartridges, Capture (hard to find), Missile War (hard to find) and Space Raiders (common) Leisure Vision - $249.99 + shipping (OBO) SOLD Leisure Vision console (the two controllers and RF video cable are hardwired) The center sticks in the middle of the directional discs on the controllers are removable, if you'd rather have an Intellivision feel Fun fact: the controller cords on Leisure Vision consoles are twice as long as on the Arcadia 2001! 3 feet vs. 1.5 feet (measured *without* stretching the cords). Score one for the Canadians. OEM power supply Five Leisure Vision-branded game cartridges: American Football (common), Baseball (common), Crazy Gobbler (hard to find), Robot Killer (hard to find) and Space Squadron (hard to find) I ship from the US but am willing to ship worldwide. If you need an RF adapter (f-type), I would be happy to include one for free. I feel like most of us have a bunch these days so that's why I'm not including one by default. If you haven't dealt with me before, feel free to have a look at my AtariAge feedback here, which dates back more than four years. Please send me a PM with interest, if you need additional pictures or would like to finalize a deal. Thanks! P.S. I also have available a rare, working Star Chess cartridge (Leisure Vision), two additional working Space Raiders cartridges (Arcadia 2001), as well as a dead Escape cartridge (Arcadia 2001) and a CIB but dead Space Attack cartridge (Arcadia 2001), in case anyone is interested in those.

In round 6 of the Arcadia high score club, we're playing a cartridge called "Brain Quiz." I'm looking for the original source or name of the game "Maxit" on the Emerson Arcadia 2001 "Brain Quiz" cartridge. My guess is that this game was a common game on 1970s computer platforms. Can you help me to identify where this 1982 game may have originally appeared? I couldn't find any videos of anyone playing this "Maxit," so I made a video showing how the game is played and posted it to YouTube. The video was made off-the-cuff, but I think I explain the game's rules okay. The Emerson Arcadia 2001 has a cartridge called "Brain Quiz." It contains three games: "Mindbreaker," "Maxit" and "Hangman." "Maxit" is a fun one or two player game that is played for high score. Each player picks a number from a grid of 10x10 numbers. One player can move only horizontally and the other player can only move vertically. The black numbers are positive and the red numbers are negative. The game appears easy, but two players find that they must plan moves several moves ahead so that the other player doesn't get to pick the high numbers. If anyone has any ideas of the origin of "Maxit," then please let me know. Thanks! Adam

Hey all, I've been trying to get my classic consoles up and running for a cabinet I trying to work with (against my wife's views). I have been working, upgrading and fixing consoles that I have. So, the problem with my Arcadia 2001, It powers on but, I get no RF out. Nothing changes on the TV. The light comes on like it is turning on. Assuming it's working fine besides the RF out, should I attempt a A/V out and see if it works, or where should I start with this one? I tried to pull it apart but, the entire head shield is soddered so I don't want to do it unless I have a plan. Thanks !

So I recently added the Arcadia 2001 to my collection. The issue I have is that the seller sent me a 3v DC Adapter and the Arcadia runs on 12v. The 3v adapter powers on the LED, but nothing else. So I purchased a 12v 500mA with a + Center and a - Barrel. However, when I connect THIS DC adapter, I get nothing. The LED doesn't light up at all. Has anyone worked with the 2001? I know it's a bit of an obscure console.

At first I had the system. Then I got games for it. The games... A whole lot of 11 games, still shrinkwrapped! (mostly. It's so old and cheap that most of it fall apart). So what is an Advision Home Arcade anyway? Well it's nothing but a French licenced version of the Emerson Arcadia 2001. A good point is that unlike most clones, it's (said to be) compatible with Emerson carts. The bad point is that Emerson carts are way more expensive than Advision carts! Strangely, the box system have the same picture on front and back. So there isn't really a front and a back. The onbox description (translated from French) : "Advision Home Arcade" "Adventure on the screen!" - The Home Arcade game system can be plugged easily on any color or black and white TV - Just introduce the cassette in the slot designed for it on the system - Game sounds will be reproduced on your TV speaker - Games handles are equipped with removeable pads (I guess that they mistranslated "joysticks") - They are linked to the system by "telephone style" cable - Each handle is fitted with 12 multifunction keys - Turn your TV in arcade game - 9V PSU provided with the system - This console can be used in a caravan, boat, car - Red light power indicator - HA2 model (probably means that HAnimex is behind that system...) - Made by and distribued by Advision France (ha, take that,Apple! For anyone wondering, this system and carts all come from Hong Kong) - Conformity to french norms is guaranteed by Advision Quite a lot of useless babble by today's standards... And weird one, too. Even if the French average customer had not great knowledge of video game system in 1982 (or it could have been out even later), at the time, only Pongs systems would have an internal speaker. Mentioning the PSU is strange too... and that line on the used of the system in a boat... WTF? I guess it come straight from Emerson's ads? A tag mention a "special price" handwritten, of 1080 (French Francs probably). If we assume that special price was put on in 1985, when French stores cleared their shelves of all game systems because of the 8 bits computer craze and the fall of US consoles, it give us a rough estimate of 280€. So, around 390US$. Well, the PS4 isn't THAT expensive after all... The system itself is pretty akin to the Emerson version. It's more rounded, there is no stupid fake wood grain, and all buttons are square. The slot shape is slightly different too. Some French version are said to have a DIN plug outputting RVB+sound. Sadly, this one doesn't. Oddly enough, one side of the box got a French game title (La fuite on the featured example), the other got the original English title. The same goes for the back of the box, which feature the English name, but a plain text description of the game (in French). Much like the Emerson carts, the Advision carts come in two flavors : tall and short. Front and end label are in English, so I suppose they are the Emerson original ones. Interestingly enough, the overlays are translated in French. Something that neither Mattel nor Colecovision did. On the other hand, they are really crude looking. I don't know if the Emerson one are as blank as those ones. As usual for the time, the notices are in black and white, but the paper is a somehow quality glossy paper. Interestingly enough, the back of the cart feature the back of the box, minus the rainbowy game title. Last but not least : I always heard that the Emerson library was made of unlicenced ripoff from famous arcade games, and less famous ones. Well, it's either wrong or just misinformation. True, games on the upper row here are copies of famous games (Cat Trax, a kind of PacMan clone, Escape is a kind of Berzek clone, and Breakout.. is Breakout). But games on the lower row are all labeled in the lower right corner "Licenced : Arcade game" and you can read under the title for each 3 "Patent by Konami Industry Co, LTD" The game title screen also feature the Konami copyright and original arcade title. Well that's it. How does it compare with the Arcadia 2001? It's a nice thing to discoved, 30 years later, games still unopened and in so mint state. Don't worry, fellow gamers. Only 3 games were spared; all of the others were opened and played a bit, and will be played more!

Good morning everyone. My name is hector and since one year I am working hard on a web (infojuegos.org) project that contains videogames information. Currently there is no content to 0.01%, but I'm starting to upload the information from retro consoles such as magnavox oddysey, rcs studio II, arcadia, etc.. With each game, try to make a walkthrought (or video) and upload on my youtube channel. In this post I will try to add the links to those videos that are retro (if I may administrators, of course, do not want to bother anyone). Magnavox Oddysey 2 Entex Adventure vision Emerson Arcadia 2001 Creativision I am currently working on a small video from rca studio II, 9/10 as TV Arcade II - Fun with Numbers do not I have this juice and I can not play it. Also I have thought about going by Microvision, channel f, intellivision, ecassette vision, super cassette vision, and other consola on TOSEC games. Note: Sorry for my English, I'm from Spain and I need translators to speak with you.
