  1. I've been restoring this disk drive and I've hit a wall (so to speak)... you can see the thread here: With not a lot of time (or knowledge) to finish this project, I've decided to trade it to someone who really wants it. I will provide all pictures that I've taken so far as well as pics from a gentleman on FB that has one as well (we've been comparing pics throughout this process). As far as trades, I'm looking for an XF551 drive, 130XE or 1200XL. I've always wanted something from the 520/1040 ST line as well... Please, just let me know what you have. Thank you, Roger
  2. Looking to find a copy of Desert Bus for the Atari 2600 and Intellivision systems. I can't seem to find much about the Atari 2600 version besides outdated links that usually end in error 404s, and I did see that the Intellivision copy is for sale on ebay at the time of this post, but I would prefer a cheaper option as that one is $40 PLUS $15 shipping.
  3. Here's a few suggestions for solving problems if your tape programs don't load. This is a Hong Kong version of the 1010. A chance purchase from eBay. I'll skip the story line for later.... First up ,test as is. Poor loading, most tapes didn't get past a few strings and crashed. BTW you assume that it passed the power up , yes but more on that later. Clean the head, it was very clean to start So no difference. Change the belts, two on this model, as to much is already said on the forum on sourcing belts, I'll add a photo as to what I used. Changed the main drive belt, fairly easy on this model. The other is for the tape counter, left as is. Now an improvement I've got the states and capital tape to almost fully load. Clean the head again, pinch roller and capstan. Not too much progress, breaktime and research. Read up in the Atari service manual found online for the 1010 there are some service procedures and testing, if you have the test tape and equipment etc. Like I'm sure someone does? Lol Next day, (you can rack up some time waiting for the loads) !!! Clean everything again and recheck belts, I diddled around fixing the tape counter, the button wouldn't release after you press it. A bit of clean up and slight sanding of the slide mechanism with a spot of WD40. I'm running the unit less the top cover, so the tape and mechanism is visible. So there's some progress. Also for the heck of it I try a trick that I used to revive old diskettes as a last resort. Clean the media. With a swab and a bit of IPA (not the beer) advance and rewind the tape while holding the swab on the cassette tape, easy to access with the top of the recorder removed Not hardly any residue but did improve the load on some. Noting from the Atari service there is a speed adjustment if you have a scope and test tape. With a marker, I noted the position of the pot. Again easy to access with the top removef. Tweaked it up slightly above the original setting. Now a marked improvement, I keep track of the tape counter when it crashed, the load times are getting longer. There are a few more adjustments of the speed control pot to find the sweet spot. States and capitals tape fully loads. Just for the heck of it I pull apart the main board and remove the capstan/pulley and clean and lubricate. All in all more tapes load. Fairly reliable as I move on to the longer non basic programs. Even the tape that was in the recorder when I received it from the seller works. So now testing continues, that was the reason for getting a workable tape drive. Most ppl inquire why go with tapes at all when the new sio files are available to download. Soon I plan to offer the tapes for sale and some of the older titles, I guess all of them are old, it would be nice to know they work, and the challenge of bringing equipment and software back to life. As far as the belt(s) replacements, I sourced some assorted belts in two widths, one assortment flat style and one square. It used to be fairly easy to source belts during the VCR days, used to have several styles available and I went the route of measuring and ordering each belt for a reel to reel, but it gets expensive. One belt assortment from Ali Express and the other from eBay, turns out they were from the same factory both sources. One other note on the power up, it worked no problem at first,as far as power indication, but by a coincidence, when during testing tapes, smoke rose from the diode rectifier set, quickly unplugged, and a quick check of the power supply, one of my old ones, no output. Luckily, I had another and the 1010 powered up no problem.
  4. As reported by Polygon, Tastemakers is releasing a new Arcade1Up series of 4 foot tall home arcade machines for just $399 each. Set to come out this fall, the only catch is that these 3/4 scale arcade machines have to be self assembled, although Tastemakers is promising that the process is a simple one. The Centipede headline cabinet also comes with Breakout, Millipede, and Missile Command, and features a trackball, which is good for everything but Breakout, which really needs a spinner. The Asteroids Deluxe headline cabinet also comes with Asteroids, Major Havoc, and Tempest, and features the classic Asteroids-style button configuration, as well as a spinner, which is needed for both Tempest and Major Havoc. The Capcom machine appears to just have Street Fighter 2. All of these cabinets feature a 17" LCD screen. While that rules out a true vector display for the Asteroids Deluxe machine, I have to say that that one is the most appealing to me because of the more authentic controls. Of course, the Centipede machine does have a certain appeal, even if I can't see myself enjoying Breakout with a trackball. Hopefully the Tastemakers custom emulator is up to snuff and the build quality is reasonable considering the amazingly low price.
  5. Just as the title states, what are your favorite/top pong consoles? I ask this, for I have been ever increasingly interested in purchasing a pong console- and while an Atari branded one is nice in terms of "authenticness", there are a vast amount of other consoles varying from look, design, games etc. As pong museum says, "and the ball was square . . ." haha
  6. Though I've posted about my channel and videos before, I figured keeping a central place in one thread would make more since. While I have done more videos than I will likely ever post in here, I thought it would be good to start off with my 40th official video for my channel and to start off April right. I present my unboxing and game play review for the Neo Games home-brew release of the limited boxed edition of Spies in the Night for the Atari 2600! Enjoy and thank you for watching!

  10. [Download the files attached to this post, as they are the most recent] Hi! I am glad to present a new game developed by me. As I know is one of the few homebrew that uses the keyboard controllers, and in this case my game uses both! The game is technically done, but if you find bugs, report them to me in this thread. Enjoy Plot: Your Laser Orbital Cannon control panel is a pair of keyboard controllers that has all the coordinates of the map. Press a key when you think that an enemy is in that coordinate: A screenshot of the game The keys on the keyboard controllers represent a quadrant on the screen You start with 4 lives, each live has a current status bar. You lose a portion of the status bar when a terrorist vehicle crosses the border. When the status bar decreases to 0, you lose a live. When you lose all 4 lives, the game ends. The screen when you lose all lives. The initial game screen Make sure to plug both keyboard controllers in the console jacks before starting any game. Press the reset button once you plug the keyboard controllers in order to start the game. Press any key from the left keyboard controller to start another game when you lose Press the reset button on a started game to reset the current game. There's an easter egg to find. Clue: you can find it in a similar way like in Drone Wars... ROM FILES PAL VERSION: Laser_keyboardPAL60.bin NTSC VERSION: Laser_keyboardNTSC.bin I highly recommend the use of real keyboards instead of using only the pc keyboard in stella for a better experience. That's everything you need to start playing the game. Feel free to post your comments about this game!
  11. Hello, (this is my first post). I recently purchased a copy of Doom. I noticed it was slightly different than the photo posted on Ebay and I'm confident it's not the one in the photo. I'm okay with that, but I want to make sure it's a real game. The box seemed a little shinier than other Jaguar boxes and I'm afriad it's a reproductions. I spent about $160 (CAN) on it so I really want it to be 100% original. Is there anything I can do to make sure it's original? Also, I was not able to test out the cartridge because I had a water leak and had to box up all my consoles while they replace the carpet.
  12. These plug and play consoles have all been tested and cleaned and work. They all have battery covers and clean battery compartments (no batteries included). I would like to get $3 each plus actual shipping costs. Please add $1 per transaction for paypal fees, or disregard if you use the friends/family option. I prefer to sell several at a time, but I am willing to sell just one. There is one Atari joystick and one Namco plug/play in the center of the first image that are $1 each with purchase. Both work, but the atari one is missing the battery cover and has a crack around the joystick ring, and the namco joystick makes lots of clicking/clunky noises. Contact me for shipping costs, it will ship from zipcode 45005 USPS. RED X INDICATES IT HAS SOLD

  18. As it says on the tin up there, looking for a set of Atari Paddle Controllers and a Video Touch Pad, which I don't actually have! I figure this isn't a huge deal and people could have some for sale here. z.z. I would need them, of course, to work! Pretty sure thing on both now. Thanks for replys guys!
  19. Anyone else going out to Classic Game Fest 2019 in Austin next week (July 27 & 28)? https://classicgamefest.com/ Rob and I will be there. In fact, we are going to have a booth this year as an indy game developer. We aren't selling anything, just showing our existing homebrew games to let people play them on real Atari 8-bit computer hardware and proper CRT monitors. We'll be demo'ing a few sneak peeks of things we've been working on too. Pretty cool stuff I think. And of course, more than anything else we'll be spreading the word about the amazingly active Atari 8-bit computer community and sharing info like how/where to get emulators, ROMs, classic games, new homebrews, and where to chat with others interested in this great hobby (like AtariAge.com of course !). Anyway, if you come out to Classic Game Fest next weekend, be sure to look for us... bitgod - "back in the good old days" -Eric
