  1. Here's a new DIY video on making a Tron arcade stick with Spinner and Trackball. At the end is gameplay showing it in action playing Centipede, Millipede, Battlezone, Tempest, and Typhoon 2001. Turned out to be a really fun project... and the results are really nice to look at.
  2. Hi, I loved Battlezone when it came out in the 1980s. I just discovered yesterday I could play it online via my PC. I have to use the arrow keys and space bar to aim and fire. I'm looking for a joystick with a usb that I could use. Any suggestions on joystick/controller that will work, and where to buy it? Thanks, Chris P.S. I can't wait to get higher scores using a joystick.
  3. I have been trying to track down this craigslist seller for about a week and he finally answered my email about the games he has for sale. Sadly, he didn't have a Popeye or a Red Baron, but he does have a Battlezone and a Space Incaders in full dedicated cabinets. He says neither of them work due to unknown issues and they are in storage. It is a case where you can squeeze in to see them, but he can't get good pictures to email me. Price quoted was $150 each or both for $250. Battlezone is definitely on my wish-list and since he left his number I am pondering calling him for more details. Supposedly both machines are in decent shape, but vector monitors can be pills to repair. I'll have to get the details at least, but would a non-working Battlezone on good shape be worth the $150 and the hassle to go get it? Thanks for any advice.
  4. Well, even though I am waiting for that CRT chassis, I decided to check out my Battlezone a little more tonight. Seems the thing that put it out of action was a broken left controller. One of the plastic plungers for the micro-switch is broke in half. Actually found a spare micro-swicth laying in the cabinet, but no spare plunger. The other apparent issue I can see is whoever last worked on the wiring in this thing was a total hack. The back door switch is broken so they decided to somehow bypass the wires into the front bezel using an old cut down extension cord! Sheesh! Also it appears they were having a connector issue for the main board, so they cut four wires off the connector and soldered them directly to the board. It might work this way, but its going to be a pain in the tail for me to remove the board with my feeble soldering skills. Hopefully the boards are still working. Even if this guy does come through with the monitor board, I am not going to be buying any more games from the arcade operator he is selling them for. Yeah, I could have a Space Invaders or an actually good looking Pole Position for $100 each, but what nasty surprises am I going to find there?
  5. From the album: RetroIndieGamer's classic games collection

These are games I have that are made by Atari and based on arcade titles. From left to right, top to bottom, we have Combat, Pole Position, Kangaroo, Combat again, Defender, Battlezone, Berzerk, Centipede, Missle Command, Asteroids (in it's tele-games form), Breakout, and Pac-man. My favorite in this collection is probably Berzerk.
